We had a fantastic dinner in a truly unique setting—an old YMCA camp full of charm and character. We sat beside the “Friendship Fireplace,” which oozed culture and history, adding an unforgettable ambiance to the evening. We shared the ribeye topped with asparagus and mushrooms in garlic butter—cooked to perfection and absolutely bursting with flavor. The macadamia nut-crusted crab cakes were also a hit: crisp, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our server was knowledgeable, professional, and attentive throughout the night. When she wasn’t sure about a wine pairing, she checked with the bartender and returned with an excellent suggestion that perfectly complemented the meal. The only thing that fell short was dessert. The cheesecake tasted store-bought and lacked the same care and quality as the rest of the meal. Still, the setting, service, and main courses more than made up for it. A solid 4-star experience—and definitely a place we’d return to.

We had SUCH a lovely stay at the Kilauea Lodge! We would absolutely stay here again! It is beautifully maintained, run with excellence, and is the perfect location if you want to be close to the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Incredible to be able to just pop over to check out the volcano, go for long hikes, and enjoy all that Volcano Village has to offer (shops, restaurants, and the winery!). ||We split our stay between 2 rooms -- Kimura and Hapu'u -- and loved them both. The rooms were immaculate, the bath towel warmers were a nice touch, and the gas fireplaces were downright dreamy. We so appreciated the complimentary drinking water and how easy it was to ask for it to be refilled as needed. The Kimura room had particularly plush chairs. Since there was no AC, we kept the screened windows open, so do remember to bring ear plugs if you want to block outside noise for sleeping (it's minimal -- people talking as they walk by, doors closing, insect/forest noise, etc.), but the windows kept it nice and cool at that elevation, and they've done a lovely job keeping the grounds as quiet as possible, unlike most hotels these days!||So nice to have dining options on the premises (great to not have to drive at night!). Impeccable service from the lodge and restaurant staff; from the moment we checked in until we checked out, they made everything SEAMLESS! Loved their texting system that allowed us to text questions, needs for the room (e.g., TP, water), etc. They've really thought of everything -- umbrellas, robes, etc. Special shout out to Janet, Suzy, & the team for going above and beyond in making my husband's birthday so special by creating special birthday cards for him as I requested. Beautiful stay in a truly magical place. We'll be back!

Our family of 4 had an outstanding lunch at the lodge; it was Sunday around noon and there was great live music. Plus, the service was amazing and food was both good and a great value! We highly recommend a stop before and after the national park! We are hoping to stay here if we come back to Hawaii…super convenient location!!! Images taken after 3/4 of good already eaten :).

We had a wonderful stay at Kilauea Lodge! The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful—surrounded by lush greenery and the calming sounds of nature, it felt like a true retreat. The location is perfect, just minutes from Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, which made it easy and convenient to explore. The lodge itself was cozy and full of charm, with thoughtful details that made us feel right at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful recommendations. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, memorable getaway near the park.

I just had one of the best meals of my life at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing, but what really made it special was my server, Megan. She treated me like I was the number one customer from start to finish. Super friendly, super on point. I ordered the ribeye with a loaded baked potato, and I couldn’t believe how good it was. Everything was perfectly prepared. The steak was cooked just right, and that potato was incredible. I cleaned my plate without even thinking about it. So good! Huge thanks to Megan and the team for making it such a great experience. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by. Five stars all the way.

Quiet hotel, Room was very nice with fireplace, bed comfy and bathroom clean with towel warmers. Great little walking trail behind the hotel. Dinner and deserts were delicious. Reservation staff excellent. Perfection location for exploring Volcano National Park. Would stay here again.

Google
We stopped here after visiting the national park. We were a party of 6. They asked if they could split us into a party of 4 & 2 for seating. We said OKAY but little did we know that we would be on opposite sides of the place. The meal was a little pricey. $18 for 2 side-salads & $43 for our Daily Catch. Meal was good but I think I would look at other places if I am back in Volcano, HI

Google
We just were driving down the road looking for a place to eat and found the Kilauea Lodge. So convenient to the park and the volcano. Not only is it convenient, but the food and rooms are top notch! We've been telling everyone about our experience!||||We really appreciated the attention to detail with the food. The fish was prepared perfectly and the lamb was amazing. The whole experience was exceptional. ||||The rooms were just, in a word, "cool!" Very rustic and nice. The hot tub in the jungle was amazing!!||||Can't recommend high enough!

Yelp
Such a positive experience. There are times we stay in Volcano and the only place we recommend for a quality meal and service is the Volcano Village Lodge. The service is with Aloha and the food; best meal for a modest price. We suggest make a reservation. We are early diners so 5:00 is always available upon short notice. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great food and service. Loved the lamb chops. Not that a lot of people would complain, but portion size was too large for me, so I guess that means it's good value. We liked one of the paintings on the wall we wanted to purchase. The server told us we could in the store. Unfortunately that was incorrect and we're still trying out how to find it. The ambience depending on where you're sat is pretty good. We will go there over Rim Restaurant next visit. The art fiasco downed the star review

Yelp
First time here and definitely won't be the last. This is our go-to date night spot for sure. If you are looking for a delicious meal after a long day of hiking, I highly recommended this spot. If you are local like me, you can get 15% off on Friday! Yay! Food was on point. Service was great. You can dress up if you like but most people are in jeans and a hoodie.

Yelp
Ambience is wonderful but the 2nd and last Sundays of the month have live music so if your with people hard of hearing maybe go Other days? Beautiful music by local artists and wonderful staff very catering. Awesome selection of food on the menu. Parking is simple and ample. Love, love the little store inside. Great souvenir shop or just local artists that sell things. Great gifts! Love that store!!! Great energy all around.

Yelp
Nice dinner of butter garlic bread (made in a small ledge cast iron pan), caprese salad, risotto (with added steak), brussel sprouts. Megan, our waitress, was very nice and attentive. We had a nice table out by a window (thankfully away from the front reception area which seemed as if it would be distracting). Overall a nice meal out in Volcano.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Very simple and rustic lodge atmosphere serving fairly classic dishes, which are prepared well. Although the beef and lamb aren't local, they are expertly cooked and delicious. Service is excellent while being friendly and helpful. Megan was terrific, packing our desert to go along with utensils! This is the best dinner choice in Volcano/VNP.

Yelp
What a simply elegant dining experience in the middle of rural Hawaii. There is a long and inviting driveway to a very open and welcoming entrance. The interior is simple, yet has a country elegance to it. The staff was incredibly attentive (I never had my water glass topped so many times). We went there for dinner and the food was quite good but also fairly expensive (when we were there, our check included a "3% Restaurant Surcharge" beyond the menu pricing). We started with the Lodge House Salad, fairly straight-forward, see my pic. It was quite fresh and the vinaigrette was fairly good. Nothing beats a good steak at the end of a day of hiking. So we had the Grilled Ribeye. It was cooked to order and had some Hamakua mushrooms on it. It was seasoned well. Also nothing beats a baked potato, skin and all, with extra butter. (I was just replenishing the calories that I had burned earlier in the day hiking around the volcanoes.) I was a happy camper at the end of this meal. We also shared the Chicken Pillared. As you can see in my pic, the chicken breast had a great golden crust. The mild sauce enhanced the mild chicken. The sides were an interesting mix of flavors that was a good contrast to the chicken breast. We'd put this restaurant in rotation on our next visit.

Yelp
They messed up our reservation and blamed us, but we had three witnesses to the phone conversation we'd had with the charming guy who had answered their phone and taken our birthday reservation three days earlier. They didn't light the fire in the fireplace until we complained. The service was very slow. The food was somewhat better than Volcano House, and it's the only other option in the immediate area. Too bad. It used to be much better.
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
Small romantic setting. We had the crabcakes, lamb, and linguine. Everything was good and portions were reasonable. Service was slow though. I didn't get a chance to order a second cocktail during dinner because our waiter disappeared.

Yelp
Quick Summary This is the spot in the Volcano area. The drinks were strong, tasty and generous. Ingredient quality of the food was solid, but my only complaint is that they overcook everything. Service was excellent. And really enjoyed stopping by the gift store in the restaurant Food- 4 stars We ordered the soup of the day (pumpkin). catch of the day, side salad, and the seafood risotto. Everything was good, not great. Ingredients tasted fresh, but they basically burned the catch of the day Service- 5 stars Our server was fantastic throughout. No complaints Drinks- 5 stars Really enjoyed the lilikoi cocktail here. Strong, delicious, and the bartender gave a double shot, which was nice Bottom Line The food is good but overcooked. Service and drinks were excellent. Plenty of parking available. Great spot to have dinner if you're in the Volcano area. I would recommend checking out the gift shop there too. Highly recommend booking a reservation to avoid a wait

Yelp
The first time we visited was 11 years ago, when we were on what turned out to be our babymoon. We visited during the Christmas holidays and the festivity (and quality of food) somehow made an impression on me. So this time when we were traveling around the new years with three little ones in tow, we decided to return given its more formal setting and clean ambience for family comfort. We figured we'd splurge a little and were willing to suffer a wait for the ambiance, but the menu looked much more affordable than we had expected given the touristy location, and there was no wait at 1pm. My lilikoi iced tea had the perfect blend of lilikoi and tea flavor without either being over powering. I loved the kids' lemonade as well. My fresh catch sandwich was juicy and flavorful. Hubs said he enjoyed his crab cake sandwich as well. The kids' menu was typical of kids menus, just the way my kids liked them. All in all, I highly recommend it to anyone stopping by the area wanting a lunch or dinner before or after a tour of the national park. I look forward to coming back next time!

Yelp
We wanted to just come and see the sites of Volcano Village stumbled on a Festival for the day and saw this place. We came in and I was instantly intrigued by the food options. Lamb Burgers, Fish and Chips, Fresh Catch of the day. Our waiter Stephen was super patient and kind. My husband pretty much allowed him to pick out his lunch. The Lamb Burger and then told him to add blue cheese and mushrooms. Listen to Stephen! Oh My! The burger was delicious! He had also suggested the Fish and Chips which is made with Ono. I was nervous to try as my last go round with Ono fish and chips was not a real positive one. So I opted for the fresh catch sandwich. That did not disappoint at all. Wish the cut of Ahi would have been a bit bigger but the flavor was still good. The restaurant is on the smaller side but do not let that deter you. It is a cozy lodge type environment there is a fireplace that has rotary clubs from all over the globe. Putting this on our list of places to visit again

Yelp
We were drawn there by the cozy ambiance, having dinner by a fireplace (its hearth has relics in it that are fascinating) after hiking into the crater at Volcano Park. The garlic cheese bread with marinara is served in a hot cast iron skillet, and is absolutely delicious; the crispy brussel sprouts work magic in the mouth. The salad is simple but fresh with a light dressing that goes well with the other food. We shared the local catch, which was ono; the flavor was soft and pleasant. For drinks, we enjoyed the local red wine from Volcano; the flavor is unique so we suggest sampling it first if you're curious. If you want a little caffeine, go for their spiked coffee cocktail; it's a perfect drink to sip by the fire. Our waiter went above and beyond and was very attentive. This is a sweet dinner spot, with a touch of romance. Their is also a super cute gift shop attached.

Yelp
On our third day on the Big Island, coming all the way from Korea, we didn't have much information and had trouble finding a proper meal. But thanks to Yelp, we discovered this place, and every dish here was amazing--especially the lamb chops. They were simply incredible. Even though we ordered them rare, the tenderness, the flavor from the bones, and the sauce were all exceptional. If we ever visit this island again, we'll definitely come back here!

Susie B.

Yelp
Great! The place was built as a YMCA camp. Old Hawaii understated elegance. Food was fine. We both had hot sandwiches. They are understaffed. Don't be in a rush. Worth a stop for lunch after exploring the park.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! My friend has celiac and I eat keto, and it was very easy to accommodate each of us! We shared the catch of the day (ʻono), the balsamic Brussels sprouts, and the side salad with ranch. Our server, Makayla, made sure the food was pan-fried so that it would be celiac-safe, and asked the kitchen to split our entree onto separate plates for us (we didn't ask, it was above and beyond!) The host, Dashiel, was also great, he was personable and attentive. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
The best of the best! Kilauea Lodge is truly a hidden gem perfectly tucked away in Volcano Village. It is located just a few minutes from the Volcano National Park entrance. I have been coming here for years which is why I chose their venue to host my wedding. I didn't choose wrong. All of my guest could not stop raving about the delectable FOOD and quality of SERVICE. Let's start with the food. Chef Lianne Malterre curates a lovely menu taking the freshest local ingredients and putting a global spin on them. The mushroom risotto, blackened ahi nisçoise and crab cake Benedict are some of my favorites. Not only does the food keep me coming back for more, but the service is always consistent. Regardless of me being a ordinary customer or the bride on my big day, the staff ALWAYS provides attentive, friendly service. The management at Kilauea Lodge definitely knows what they are doing! This was ever more evident during the wedding planning process. Ryan and Janet were beyond helpful giving me timely and detailed responses during the entire communication process. Not only can you dine here, you can stay here too. There are multiple rooms available. The bed and breakfast ambiance is so cozy and romantic. Ample parking available, all situated close to the rooms. Overall, whether you are planning an intimate event or just a romantic dinner you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
The skinny: Great food and drinks with a homey friendly atmosphere. The Drinks: These drinks were yummy! The MaiTai was unique and delicious with a ube foam to top it off - gives the drink a slight creaminess that I loved. Would highly recommend this drink! The food: We came to Volcano with little expectations, we heard everything closed early and there were limited options. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed by the food at Kilauea Lodge! The fresh catch was amazing - we had a red snapper with a cream sauce that was absolutely wonderful. The crispy skin and sauce really made the dish - not to mention the fish was perfectly cooked. Get the catch of the day if you can! We also had the lamb which was solid and kimchi app. Overall, happy with everything we ate & drink.

Yelp
This was our favorite overall meal during our five-night stay in Hilo. The food was all delicious. Crab cake sandwich, portobello sandwich, ham and turkey, fish and chips ... it was all tasty. Nani was a friendly and attentive server who took great care of us. The ambiance is very old town Hawaii. Lovely location. Perfect for a meal before or after a visit to the park.

Yelp
So... this place started out strong when we called to make a reservation and they had a record of our previous visit years ago, including our dietary preferences! However, when we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. Three of us had overheard it being made, and yet wr were told that it simply was not there. We were not offered any sort of apology and it was not a great start to the evening. On top of that, the ambiance is lacking. We felt as though we were dining in a school cafeteria next to a gift shop with brown tables and no table cloths, and bright lighting. There was no fire in the fireplace and the ceiling fans were going, so it was absolutely freezing. As for the food, I would it varied -- certain dishes were quite excellent, like the steak that my husband enjoyed. However my fish was overcooked to the point of being dry and hard. I wish I had better things to say about this place but I can only say it is good, not great.
google avatar

Nyra C.

Yelp
Kilauea Lodge is a special place and I recommend you stop by at least once. I love the ferns but also just being at such a peaceful, quiet spot. Service is always welcoming, eggs benedict, crab cakes, local beef and lamb, kids menu, excellent drinks and one of the few places where you can get a nice salad w your burger instead of fries or onion rings. Mahalo for the complimtary pumpkin bread and butter. Papaya dressing was very good.it made me wish I had a little more. I didn't order but Ka'u coffee French press is also available. One last thing, if there is still lilikoi pie on the menu, by all means get it. It was amazing.

David A.

Yelp
Super expensive and average food. Dining room is large and we had no trouble getting a table for three, granted it was early evening. We only came here because our first selection was closing early. Starters are close to $20 and entrees are $30-$40! Even Volcano House has better prices and selections than here. :\

Yelp
So - this was a former YMCA? It is crazy to see its evolution! We popped in pre-e-bike ride for some food. We saw staff all over outside, so we knew we were walking into "not just a restaurant" - but it was really a nice find! We were definitely a "late breakfast" order (at the last minute for their kitchen) but they nailed it. I recommend the sausage, for real. It is delicious. The loco Moco was okay - my first experience of tasting it in still chasing, it wasn't seasoned enough "for my liking" but by no means was it bad! And that egg was cooked to perfection. Our server was fast with us - it was only us and one other table at the time we arrived/left, and she never left us feeling unattended. But the people behind us - staying there, clearly made me feel and for the staff because they were less than appreciative of everything around them, being very bitter with their words. This is a pleasant location, with a great view by the window, good food, and worth a stop if you're in the area!

Yelp
Phenomenal food, excellent service, and lovely ambiance. It was so good that we came two nights in a row with the second night somehow even better than the first. FOOD While the price is higher than those of surrounding establishments, it is definitely worth the quality that you are getting. *Calamari Steak: Soft, easy to chew, and precut, which made it easy to share. Would order again. *Crab Cakes: The crab cakes were juicy and sat on a bed of cabbage packed with flavor, perhaps too much flavor. Although this dish was not bad, I wouldn't order it again. *Side Salad: Simple salad of lettuce, cucumber, and tomato. My partner liked the lilikoi vinaigrette, but it was too sour for me, so we got ranch the second night. *Loaded Baked Potato: We ordered this on the second night after seeing how well they did the fingerling potatoes in the main dish the previous night. The baked potato was baked to perfection and included cheese, sour cream, bacon, and chives. There were involuntary sounds of joy coming from my partner as he ate it. *Catch of the Day: I can't remember the name of the fish, but it was a white fish. The dish included delicious fingerling potatoes, macadamia nuts, raisins, pesto, and some sort of white sauce. Words cannot describe how good this was. *Special involving the catch of the day: On the second night, the catch was mahi mahi, and the off-menu dish included a furikake garlic-butter sauce (yum!), basmati rice, and sauteed vegetables, which were done really well. *Boston Cream Pie: Based on other reviews, we were hoping for their chocolate cake, but it wasn't available. However, the Boston Cream Pie was an excellent consolation--it's not common for places to have it--and like everything else, it was delicious. *Hot Toddy: So good that my partner ordered it again the second night. *Pineapple Iced Tea: I got this but would not get it again. Might need to add sweetener if you have a sweet tooth like me. *Mai Tai: This came with ube on top, which was quite good. *Lilikoi Iced Tea: Loved this and got a second one. Too much ice for my taste (half the glass), so make a note for an adjustment for your taste. My partner says that this place has spoiled him and is worried that he might not be able to enjoy the food as much for the rest of our trip. SERVICE We asked the server if we could split one entree and a bunch of appetizers, and they kindly plated our entree on two plates without us asking--very thoughtful! The bussers were very quick to refill water and clear plates. On the first night, service from our server was a little slow because she was so chatty with the other tables, but she was friendly and the food came out quickly. Service on the second night was faster. The menu noted a 4% restaurant service fee, and this was charged on the first night, but oddly not on the second night. AMBIANCE The lodge displayed paintings of the local area, and we were serenaded by the coqui frogs through the window. I also enjoyed viewing the ferns and other tropical foliage through the window. This restaurant lodge is the perfect place to have a meal after a day of traveling or hiking. An easy 5 stars--highly recommended!

Yelp
We went for their first Thanksgiving Buffett and it was a wonderful experience!! We hope they make this a tradition! We're empty nesters and it was so nice to enjoy a home cooked style meal without the stress of prep/ cleanup!! Beautiful location, home style cabin atmosphere, lovely service with a smile and delicious food!!

Yelp
Cute, historic location in Volcano. Service is great however food quality doesn't match the prices. As someone who lives local in Volcano where there isn't much to choose from for dinner type places to eat, I have eaten here and been consistently let down with my orders.

Sharon F.

Yelp
We had a very delicious meal at a quiet pleasant restaurant we went to because the first place we went left us sitting for over 45 minutes without even a glass of water. I'm so very glad that happened because this was a soothing gem. The service was professional, pleasant and helpful. My catch of the day sandwich was the best I had my entire trip to Hawaii. Don't pass up this worthwhile stop near Volcano nat'l park.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and service. Highly recommended. Perfect spot to stay if you are visiting the volcano.

Yelp
We were super hungry after touring the volcano national park and just wanted to get something quick. We found this hidden gem about a 5 min drive from the national park. Service was amazing, they were super friendly and kid friendly. It looks like it a lodge as well as a restaurant. We loved the cozy and family style restaurant. We ordered 2 of the Volcano mocos and they were delicious. They gave generous portions and we really enjoy this dish. We also ordered a Cobb salad that was hearty and delicious. For anyone who has worked up an appetite after touring the volcano national park this is a great place to stop and re-energize! We were so hungry I totally forgot to take pictures of the food

Yelp
Fantastic stop if you're taking a drive around the island! Great service, fantastic fish, and quality martinis! We had the espresso martinis which came with their own refills, and the Cajun blackened fish sandwich, but lettuce wrapped. The fish was PHENOMENAL. Hands down the best fish I've had yet and I've eaten fish 3 times since I've been here!

Yelp
Oh my yes, if you have a chance to have breakfast here you're in for a wonderful way to start the day. Beautiful landscaping. Most calming vibe. Not large by any means but lovely by all means. Breakfast was tasty. The food appears on Hawaiian time which was A-okay for me cuz I got to browse and make purchases at their intriguing gift shop. Almost 17 hours later I could kick myself for not buying a one of a kind looking pendant that caught my eye. Oh dear... Very tranquil and beautiful.

Yelp
This place is a must if you are close to Volcano NP. For starters, this is probably the best two Bloody Mary I've had in America. The Hawaiian martini that had Lilikoi was just okay and the Kuaii coffee martini was good too. The seafood risotto was OUTSTANDING. The Onaga fish (snapper) was also OUTSTANDING! Service by Heather was superior and she made great recommendations as well as presentations and recommendations. Ask for Heather because you will be well taken care of in your dinner experience. Great place and a historic story too. Mahalo.

Yelp
Came in without reservations and staff were able to accommodate a group of 4 with minimal waiting despite being busy and late in the evening. Service and food were great and always look forward to stopping here when in Volcano!

Yelp
My husband and I usually go to Kilauea Lodge at least once a year and they never disappoint! The service is always on point and the food is delicious. The fire place adds a nice, cozy feeling to the dining area. We had the caprese salad and cheesy garlic bread for appetizers. I had the espresso martini and my husband tried Pele's Punch, both were tasty and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. My husband had the ribeye steak with a loaded potato. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and was well seasoned! I had the mushroom risotto with chicken and it was amazingly rich, creamy and very filling. The chicken was cooked perfectly (not dry). We finished our dinner with the Boston cream pie which was the "cherry on top" of an incredible meal!

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner last night at the Kilauea Lodge Restaurant in Volcano. The restaurant is beautiful. Food was excellent, and our server Derick was engaging and friendly. I am visiting from MA, and this was by far the best meal I've had this whole trip.

Yelp
Excellent food and accommodation for GF meals! My husband (celiac) and I both had the daily catch which was Ono. The fish was delicious and moist and the cauliflower vegetable mixture was amazing. The chef pan fried the potatoes to avoid cross contamination and they were crisp on the outside and tender inside. We also ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer which is served with balsamic and parmesan cheese. Chef also pan fried those! I am a Brussel sprout snob and those were the best I have had! NOT kidding! The food portions are very generous so much so that we did not have room for dessert! The bartender also makes a perfect and very generous martini! Our server Rikko and the entire staff were so great that we decided to do a repeat the next night. Shout out to Makayla who was our server on night two and equally amazing. Thank you Nicholas for all the water refills! The fire in the fireplace was lit the second night which was fun! Kilauea lodge was a wonderful experience and not to be missed while at the. park!

I went with my family after a hike at Volcano National Park, and I ordered the cobb salad. Very tasty! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We'll be back!

Yelp
Best Mai Tai I've had on the island! Best meal I've had on the island. Service was top notch. The ambiance was right on par with the name. Even had a chair lift up the stairs for mobility challenged individuals. What a great option! Oh, they have crème brûlée, too!

Yelp
Arrived for dinner around 7 PM with reservations. Tip: Highly recommend getting reservations online due to the park's high volume of visitors. Celebrated our anniversary in which the restaurant was able to provide a nice note at our table and dessert. Ordered the Kīlauea Lodge punch-a bit too sweet for my taste. We had to add a bit of water to it. I had the grilled New Zealand lamb ribs (medium well) -OMG. Delicious. It came with basmati white rice, veggies, and yogurt sauce. Everything on this plate was savory and 10/10! My husband had the catch of the day- Red Snapper. I sneaked in a bite and that was also good! For dessert we had the chocolate macadamia mousse. Wow! Also 10/10! I would come back again! Staff were nice and friendly. Tables and ambiance were great. They have a cute little gift shop as well. Check it out.

Yelp
We had a nice dinner here while visiting Volcano National Park. The appetizers were really tasty and we all enjoyed our entrees. The Ono was slightly overcooked but the sauce helped. Someone had the New Zealand lamb chops and said they were really delicious. The restaurant's setting is intimate and inviting. Service was friendly and good. We stayed at Volcano House, which is the hotel in Volcanoes National Park, and it took just five minutes to get to Kilauea Lodge Restaurant.

Yelp
They have a very interesting fire place donated. I ate a burger here. It was average to good. I sent back the first one because it came out super small. I couldn't help but laugh and asked them to send me a proper burger that fit the bun. The first was literally 1/2 the size of the bun. Fries were good and with extra pickles I enjoyed it. Very much a plane Jane dinner spot. The artworks and woodworks make this spot special.

Yelp
Looking for dinner after a day of hiking in the park and this came up. Nice, spacious dining room. Classy tropical vibe furniture, i liked the real wood burning fireplace. Had wedge salad for starters ($10). Very tasty, plenty of dressing. Main course was fish of the day ($36). Pretty good, almost borderline overcooked tiny bit on dry side, not too bad though. The au gratin side was good, but the super salty capers kind of overwhelmed the raisins. The fingerling potatoes were nice. For dessert had a lemon pie ($7). Very nice zesty lemon flavor. Service speed was tiny bit slow, they apologized for delay but they were friendly. Had lilikoi iced tea. Nice tea with syrup in it. I didn't ask for a refill and they didn't offer so I'm guessing no refills. Only other niggle was the washroom sink only runs cold water (I looked under the sink, only one hose). They're right now 3 stars, good but not great for the prices. A few touches could get them to 4 stars. Up the execution on main dish. Put out real oil candles instead of electric ones. Get some hot water in the restrooms. If that happened I'd glad up them to 4 star plus. Still, it's a good stop if you're already at the VNP.

Yelp
The food and service is pretty great. Prices are decent. Property is beautiful, but the one thing that really ruined the night was what we saw. There was a young blonde kid in his early 20's working the counter. His hair was pretty filthy. He kept running his hands back smoothing it. At one point he picked something from the front of his scalp, looked at it then he proceeded to put it in his mouth. Physically eating it. This had to be one of the most revolting things I've seen at a restaurant. I have no clue if he touched anything we ate or drank. If I wanted to eat here again and saw him I'd absolutely leave. Basic hygiene should be enforced.

Yelp
Great food, pleasant service, relaxed ambiance. This place is spot on, I went in for brunch with my family and they even brought out a yummy dessert with a candle for me. I couldn't recommend this place enough

Yelp
We decided to stop at the Kīlauea Lodge Restaurant after we spent the morning hiking at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We arrived in a Sunday during brunch hours (until 3:00PM). We were seated immediately. The dining area was cozy. I loved the open air feel (front door open along with open windows). Waters came quickly as did our server, Alex. Our family of 5 settled on fish and chips, the volcano loco, crab cake eggs Benedict, kids butter noodles and kids cheeseburger. My husband had never had ono (local fish). It wasn't his favorite white fish, but he loved the preparation. He loved the sauces and cole slaw too. He used the local hot sauce which was good too. Our son love the Volcano Loco. He was the only one at the table that didn't share his plate... he said it was just that good. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict. I really enjoyed my plate. The sauce was delicious. Both kids loved their kids menu items. The entree portion sizes were plentiful. Our waitress forgot two items (onion rings and soup) which she immediately offered to take off our bill. I was appreciative of the great customer service. Be sure to checkout if you are looking for a calm, relaxing meal!

Yelp
Came here after doing a couple of the hikes from the volcano and wanted to get a bite before making the hour drive back to our place, and found this hidden gem. Such a great place to go! Nice ambiance and good vibes. We got to order, wait time for a group of 7 wasn't that long either. But food was spectacular. 3 got the fettuccine, 2 got the sirloin and 1 got the rack of lambs and I got the chicken Diane. It was so good. Vibes were great, 4 star because our waiter didn't fill our water, we had to ask, but aside from that would recommend!

Yelp
This was our second time visiting Kilauea Lodge while visiting Volcanoes National park. The restaurant atmosphere is cozy. We sat near the fireplace which is decorated with emblems donated by other lodges around the world. We started with the calamari steak and a small bread basket. The calamari steak was fried to perfection and tender. I ordered the Seafood Risotto, which was flavorful and filling. My husband had the Chicken Roulade and it was also quite tasty. For dessert we had a lemon Lilikoi pie that satisfied our sweet tooths. We returned for breakfast the next morning because we stayed the night. For breakfast we shared the French toast and the ham and cheese omelette. Both were delicious, but we especially enjoyed the French toast because it was made with local Hawaiian sweet bread.

Yelp
While we visited the Hawaiian Volcanic National Park, locals all said to go to Kilauea Lodge Restaurant for dinner. Let's be honest, there's pretty much only two options: here or The Rim at Volcano House. We didn't take their advice and ended up dining at The Rim since we were exhausted after a day of hiking and were conveniently staying down the hall at the Volcano House. Nevertheless, we did come to Kilauea Lodge for breakfast. The Kilauea Lodge was built in 1938 as part of the YMCA Camp. It still keeps that historic 'lodge-feel' with vaulted wood ceilings and a fireplace made of stones donated by various International Rotary Clubs (worth a peek!). Staff was very friendly and the kitchen was willing to still serve breakfast 10 minutes to 11:00 AM when normally lunch begins. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with over-medium eggs while my partner had the Volcano Loco. Both of these dishes were some of the best breakfast items we had eaten while on the Hawaiian Islands! The Volcano Loco (their version of a Loco Moco) gravy was spectacular with mushrooms and onions and a local beef patty filled with loads of flavor. My Corned Beef was diced impeccably and was obviously made in house. We learned that they source from twenty-six different purveyors from all over the Big Island. They also kept the local Hilo Mill coffee pouring (and the ice water from the springs). I highly recommend The Kilauea Lodge Restaurant for at least one meal while visiting Volcano, HI.

Yelp
Heather was a great server and highly accommodating to our birthday celebrant's special day and allergies. Finished food too quick to take more than these pics. Thanks Kilauea Lodge!
