We stayed here prior to our boarding a small cruise ship for a tour of the Scottish coast. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was ideal for walking into town and the view of the sea was serene. We had an issue with trying to cool our room. The owner immediately sent someone to take care of the matter and offered to move us to a better room. I discovered that the room temperature matter was due to my not understanding how to manipulate the safety locks on the windows. The staff took full responsibility for our comfort. I was very pleased with all aspects of our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights. This was a very last minute booking and I was so grateful that the manager on duty allowed us to book. We stayed in the modern building behind the main house. The room was spacious, modern and had everything we needed. The lady who serviced our room provided a great service, keeping it clean and replenishing the drinks, chocolate and cake every day. We enjoyed our stay so much in Oban and would love to return sometime again.

We stayed at this beautiful Kilchrenan House over the weekend (April 11-13, 2025). The very new owners, Andi & her husband has JUST taken over from prior longtime owners Frances & Colin Davren. We stayed in room 5 which offers an amazing view of the sea, a fireplace (we didn’t need it as the weather was gorgeous!), spacious bathroom, king size bed as well as coffee, tea, orange juice and biscuits. There is no breakfast but there are many places to eat nearby. Parking is ample and free. Andi and the 2 staff members we met were so very welcoming and warm. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and had every thing we needed. We would love to go back to Oban - ferry over to Isle of Mull and Iona on Saturday was an experience we enjoyed and would recommend. Loved Costa Coffee and we enjoyed talking with the owners. Perfect accommodation to stay and explore this charming area!

Overnight stay before early ferry to Mull. Comfortable room with thoughtful extras. We were able to just leave very early in the morning for the ferry with no fuss. Parking and clean but a side room with no privacy and flashing lights all night from the faulty lights in the car park next door. Flimsy curtains. However, really just what we wanted in transit.

Beautiful accommodation in a fantastic location at the quiet end of the promenade. On site parking was great. Book room #10, you won't be disappointed! Our room was huge, immaculate, super comfy 4 post king bed, large sitting area in bay window looking out at the promenade and bay. The bathroom was huge and updated nicely. Very friendly check in from host. No breakfast, but loads of options in the area. We enjoyed watching the ferries come and go from our sitting area. We stayed only one night as we were catching the ferry to Mull the next morning and were sad to leave our amazing accommodation. A great base for exploring the area and we would definitely book again if in the the area. 10/10!

During my two weeks in Scotland this was my favorite place to stay. The room was beautiful and view was stunning. The bit of sherry after a long, rainy trip was very welcome. I loved the charm of an older home done up beautifully. There was no breakfast served, there were snacks in the room, but it's a close walk to the town for food. Thank you for your hospitality and I will be back.

I was very pleased with the way they prepared the room, taking into consideration that I am allergic to harsh chemicals and mold. There is no mold here. It is a bit dated and dusty in the relief at the top of the room, and is a bit impersonal for a guest house, but it has a lovely location and our room had an American-sized bed (Emporer King) and a wonderful view of the water. It was exactly as the picture shows. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

Good value for the cost. Good views if you have a sea view room. Modern bathroom, welcome dram, somewhat good location, comfy chairs in bedroom. But note, there is not enough parking spots so try to get there between 3 and 4 to get one. Tip: have early dinner so you can have the two prime seats by window in the Welcome Room while everyone else is out. There is a refrigerator in room with orange juice and water and packaged croissants.

Yelp
I don't know. I really thought the staff here was friendly and helpful, but as an accommodation, it was not the best experience. Sure, the location and view was great. Our room looked right out into the water. Also, I liked that the house was somewhat removed from the busyness of the main town area. However, the room itself was tiny, including the bathroom. There is really not enough room for two people. And they filled up one of the nightstands with a gratuitous coffee and water service, which basically made that nightstand useless in terms of a place to put your stuff. One of our lights wasn't working, the shower doors don't seal, so water sprays out onto the bathroom floor. Also there was some liquid hand soap in the bathroom that had a really strong and nauseating smell every time I washed my hands. The walls are also super thin so that you can hear all the noise from the hallway and the rooms adjacent. We were located next to a gentlemen's who seemed to have emphysema; he was coughing all night and in the morning like no ones business. He also seemed to be opening and closing the noisy shower door right behind our bed every 5 seconds. Breakfast was weird. First the dining Room was way too cramped with tables (that were a little too small) and people. It was hard to get to and from the buffet table, and multiple trips to the buffet were necessary because they didn't really have adequate tableware available at the buffet for everything. For example, they didn't have any cups to carry milk back to the table or any small dishes to hold jam for your toast. Basically, you have to go back to your table to get a serving vessel and bring it back to the buffet to put stuff in it. This probably wouldn't have been so annoying if the room weren't so cramped, making it an ordeal to get from one end of the room to the other. Anyway, it was okay for one but I'm glad I didn't have to stay there longer.

Yelp
Outstanding B n B. We asked Colin, the owner, for a good spot to meet friends...maybe to eat. He showed us menus of a couple seafood places and before we knew it he was on the phone to Ee Usk booking us a table. Colin also gave a map and directions to our friends to help them find their B & B. He went way above the call of duty there. Then as they left, he showed perfect comic timing - just as the glass door was shutting on our departing friend, whiskey loving Paul, Colin said, "now would you care for a welcoming dram of whiskey?" the look on Paul's face through the glass was perfect - sad hungry puppy face. Colin laughed and so did we. Only one thing I would do differently - make sure you get one of the rooms with a sea view. Worth the cost I think. Breakfast was great with a few choices besides the standard full Scottish. We had pancakes with yogurt and fruit and it was great. The house is close enough for walking, but far enough to be quiet. You can walk out the door and across the road to sit on the esplanade by the bay.

Yelp
Super Bed and Breakfast in Oban! The staff is very friendly: among other things, you get a free glass of whisky to welcome you. In addition, you can chose the breakfast you want to have a day in advance and the quality of the food served is great. Finally, the localization is perfect, near the city center of Oban with the possibility to park you car.

Yelp
Kilchrenan house is simply an outstanding B'n'B. We arrived at a stormy rainy afternoon and were lucky to take a room to the seaside. You sit in the sofa, watch the boats and enjoy the great view by a cup of tea and your welcome whisky. I could have spent hours in that way. The room was very tastefully furnished in Victorian style including the bath. Moreover, our hosts Colin and Frances were very nice and helped us in finding the right restaurant. Colins breakfast was excellent. I dared to take Haggis and it is definitely the place to try it out.
