"Before the well-known royal families of Scotland came to power, there was the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada, about which little is understood. Judging from the archaeology found on Kilmartin Glen, however, it was probably a remarkable, 6th- to 7th-century civilization of Gaelic-speaking Celtic people. Today, visitors to this impressive landscape on Scotland’s west coast can explore 6,000 years of history through stone circles, standing stones, rock art, and burial chambers, then head into the Kilmartin Museum, which displays artifacts like urns, swords, food vessels, and more."
This is an outstanding first class museum, including interactive exhibits. A must-go if you are at all interested in the cultural and/ or geological history of the area. Kilmartin was a mecca for ancient peoples. Around the side of the building is a trail going directly to Neolithic monuments.

We had a great visit - John & I had visited a few times before and enjoyed our visits. However, the new museum was wonderful, the layout and information were excellent. We loved the video of the area with the wildlife - great photography

The small museum is modernised and gives a comprehensive impression of the ancient history of the Glen and beyond. Wonderful audiovisual presentation of a sacred ritual.

A wonderful museum if a bit pricey. The walk to the monuments is stunning and flat all the way.

Carefully thought out, narrated and ethically displayed archaeology. Lovely cafe with good food and view of cairns.

I felt the admission was too steep for the value of the information and the limited number of exhibits. The quality was good, aside from the video presentation, which conveyed no information at all but was beautiful. The more interesting site to me was the small church cemetery alongside. Some very interesting graves and markers.

This is an absolutely stunning museum, I was two hours just trying to absorb all the historical information, and, as Tony Robinson said, you can go out the door and follow the trail of cairns up to the standing stones on a gentle walk.
It really is unmissable, just a pity Kilmartin is so short on accomodation but there are quality establishments not far away.
Loved it.

Very expensive at £15 for entry. They say this gives you a year’s access, but this place is so remote most people will only go once. They need to give an affordable option. Also. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so they ask for a lot of money for not a great experience. That said, the building is stunning. The architect has done a fantastic job. Pity I couldn’t afford to go in.
