"Before the well-known royal families of Scotland came to power, there was the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada, about which little is understood. Judging from the archaeology found on Kilmartin Glen, however, it was probably a remarkable, 6th- to 7th-century civilization of Gaelic-speaking Celtic people. Today, visitors to this impressive landscape on Scotland’s west coast can explore 6,000 years of history through stone circles, standing stones, rock art, and burial chambers, then head into the Kilmartin Museum, which displays artifacts like urns, swords, food vessels, and more."
Since the museum looked rather small, I was pondering if the 16.70£ (Adult) would be worth it. But it absolutely was! This is an excellent Museum. There are a lot of hands on things for old and young and I think it’s a perfect example how to exhibit archaeological finds. 👌
There is a cute little Bistro at the site that served cake and snacks.

Can't comment on the actual museum, we just popped in for lunch at the cafe- and it was fabulous. It's a gorgeous little place, food was great, but it's the staff that make it really special - very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be popping back!

This is an outstanding first class museum, including interactive exhibits. A must-go if you are at all interested in the cultural and/ or geological history of the area. Kilmartin was a mecca for ancient peoples. Around the side of the building is a trail going directly to Neolithic monuments.

The monument walk was very well maintained and easy to follow. We saw most of the local sites this way. A fair bit of parking, no EV charging. There is a cafe and a small gift shop. There are free toilets.

We had a great visit - John & I had visited a few times before and enjoyed our visits. However, the new museum was wonderful, the layout and information were excellent. We loved the video of the area with the wildlife - great photography

Only visited the Museum Cafe/Restaurant for coffee tea and scones which were served by the most friendly staff
The coffee was excellent and the scones superb
Unfortunately we had no time to visit the Museum, which looks fascinating, hopefully next time!

Lovely, small but informative and atmospheric museum introducing the rich history of the area. Also has a cafe with views out to the nearby cairns. Great teas, coffees and snacks. Clean toilet facilities. A great place to head before or after exploring the glen

Brand new museum, highlighting the local history, in theory, but really applicable to anywhere in the country. Fabulously presented, though the video presentation at the end was laughable and put a downer on the visit. We did the walk from the museum and it was underwhelming, to say the least. Museum well worth a visit but don't base your day around it.
