We chose Kimpton Clocktower Manchester for what was meant to be a special surprise stay, expecting a refined and well-managed experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing.
As hotel guests, we went to the restaurant simply for tea and coffee. We were first told it was fully booked. After explaining we were staying at the hotel, a supervisor then said the kitchen was closed. When we clarified we only wanted tea or coffee, we were told to order room service instead. Later, reception suggested we order from the bar and sit in a designated corner — despite visible empty tables and other guests being seated comfortably. The communication was inconsistent and poorly handled.
Our room window was completely fogged, eliminating any view. There was no warmth or attention to detail throughout our stay.
At check-out, there was no acknowledgment of the concerns raised, no apology, and not even a basic smile from the front desk.
When leaving in heavy rain, we requested an umbrella and were told none were available.
Hospitality is defined by attitude and consistency. Sadly, this experience did not reflect the standards we expected.
