Kimpton Da An

"Set the sceneThis former residential tower in Taipei’s buzzy Da An district blends in with its apartment-building neighbors and can easily go unnoticed for those strolling by. The interior, however, is a different story. Underneath the crimson-and-teal double-height statement ceiling in the lobby, a straight-lined visual feast plays out in a cozy living room and concrete-clad seating arrangements (where an honesty bar is stocked with ice-cold soda pops and beer on tap). Upstairs, rooms are spacious, teal-toned sanctuaries away from the city’s rush, while the 12th-floor restaurant is a destination in its own right for the fried chicken with seaweed mayo alone. What’s the backstory? For a city bursting with creative energy, Taipei has always been astonishingly short on exciting design hotels. The boutique-hotel savvy Kimpton group saw a gap in the market and transformed a former apartment building into the brand’s first Asian outpost. Shanghai-based architects Neri & Hu were enlisted with the interior design and created a minimalist masterpiece where typical Taiwanese architectural staples (tiled walls, window grills) mingle with arched walkways and a dash of mid-century modern–inspired bits and pieces, like the exposed orb-like bulbs hanging from metal pipes. What can we expect in our room?Rooms are pared-back but far from basic. Lots of blond wood with deep teal as the statement color, while bathrooms are white-and-steel affairs (save for some of the suites, where you can expect hot spring–like terrazzo to cover the floor and walls). There are other thoughtful touches too, like yoga mats and massage tools, as well as eco-friendly details: toothbrushes, combs, and other single-use items will only be given if you ask for them. How about the food and drink?Even if you’re not staying overnight, The Tavernist restaurant is worth a visit. Nomadic chef and Noma alum James Sharman has been given free rein over the kitchen and delivers an eclectic and ever-changing menu of dishes inspired by his travels around the globe: think ostrich tartare, scotch eggs, or snail-studded pork terrine. On the same floor, a cocktail bar continues the global theme with playful East-meets-West creations such as a Sichuan peppercorn–spiked sangria and a fresh riff on a whisky sour with black tea foam and scallop powder. What’s the crowd like?Despite the high-end feel, the hotel is remarkably casual. Everybody’s welcome, even furry friends, as long as they fit through the door. Instagram-snapping young things zip past elderly couples in the lobby and suited-up business bigwigs mingle with socks-in-sandals tourists during the daily social wine hour or free-flowing morning coffee. Anything to say about the service? The team is genuinely friendly and totally tuned-in. Whether checking in or coming back after a day traipsing around the city, a staff member will be waiting to welcome you back. What’s the neighborhood scene like?Da An is one of Taipei’s most cosmopolitan districts, and you could easily spend a day wandering around its grid of alleys packed with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants ranging from smart dining affairs and sceney drinking dens to local noodle joints. The hotel’s free rental bikes make exploring a breeze. Anything you’d change? Most rooms are entered through the bathroom. While it’s not a deal-breaker, it does feel a little odd. Also, a swimming pool would be nice in Taipei’s steamy weather. Is it worth it?Yes. Design junkies will love it, but the warm, switched-on service and restaurant dishing up comfort food from breakfast to dinner are the stand-out reasons to come here." - Chris Schalkx

Kimpton Da An Taipei (Da’an District, Taipei) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Kimpton’s growth from a California phenomenon into a nationwide and now global boutique-hotel brand hasn’t diluted its appeal — thanks to designers Neri & Hu, the Kimpton Da An Hotel in Taipei might just be the most stylish of the bunch. It’s an adaptation of an apartment complex in this hip city-center neighborhood, and the residential feeling remains, though it’s made livelier by its restaurant, Tavernist, overseen by a Noma alum, as well as Kimpton’s trademark daily social hour, where your hosts provide wine, light bites, and conversation. Spare a moment for the rooftop terrace, with its expansive views of the city." - Tablet Hotels

Review: Kimpton Da An, Taipei - SilverKris

"A 129-room urban sanctuary in Taipei’s Da’an district that blends modern chic with vintage cool, designed to evoke the city’s mix of old military-village textures and contemporary high-rises. The interiors—conceived by Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of Neri&Hu and Design Republic—feature a high-ceilinged atrium flooded with natural light, tilework recalling local façades, handcrafted metalwork reminiscent of historic window frames, and an intimate candlelit oriental garden with staggered ponds. Guest rooms emphasize warm woods and elegant tiling, are pet-friendly, and layer modern amenities with local craftsmanship: an open-closet layout, a small round blue-and-white marble sitting table, a wooden massage tool commonly found in Taiwanese homes, a mini rice cooker, and bathrooms stocked with Atelier Bloem toiletries. A signature in-vent scent (green tea, citrus, cinnamon and pepper) and thoughtful touches like a “jie” carpet referencing old cobblestone streets reinforce the design narrative. Service is intentionally personal—staff are encouraged to be themselves—creating a conversational, familial vibe that extends to communal moments such as a Morning Kickstart (6:30–10:00) offering complimentary coffee to go, energy bars and Taiwanese soy milk, and an evening Social Hour (17:30–18:30) with complimentary wine. Additional practical features include a 24-hour fitness centre, running maps with three curated bike routes to local highlights such as Da’an Forest Park, Raohe Night Market and the Jianguo jade market, and a unique 24-hour honour-system lobby bar—the only property in its brand worldwide to operate this way." - Joe Henley

Truly wonderful stay at Kimpton Da An. Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood, just one block from both the Blue and Brown MRT lines, making it incredibly convenient. Hotel itself has a boutique, modern feel. Has stylish furnishings, inviting common areas, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Free coffee and snacks throughout the day, as well as evening social hour, Bed was extremely comfortable, and the room design felt both contemporary and cozy.||When we first checked in, our initial room unfortunately had a lingering smoke smell from a previous guest. However, this turned into an example of outstanding service. Pei Wu, the Assistant Front Office Manager, took care of the situation with professionalism and kindness. She not only switched us to a new room but also upgraded us and surprised us with a cake.||Overall, Kimpton Da An combines exceptional service, great amenities, and a perfect location. We would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Taipei!

Checked in here for 2nights in March 2024. Process was smooth, room was big, service was top notch. We stayed one night then moved to Alishan for couple of nights then came back here. Asked them if we could leave our big luggages at the hotel so we didnt have to bring it all the way to Alishan, they gladly accepted. Because of that, my trip to Alishan was a bit lighter (literally). Location wise, not infront of MRT station but the shops nearby are top notch. And taxi in taipei is relatively affordable. If someone is looking for a good hotel with spacious room, attentive service, Kimpton Da An is highly recommended. Ps: didnt take any video / photos of the hotel but i can say it’s the same with the pictures online.

Staying at Kimpton Da An was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel blends modern design with warm, thoughtful touches that make the space feel both stylish and welcoming. The room was beautifully appointed, quiet, and incredibly comfortable. Staff were outstanding—genuinely friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The location is perfect, just steps from Zhongxiao Fuxing station and surrounded by great cafés, shops, and restaurants. I especially loved the morning coffee and evening social hour, which added a personal feel to the stay. Truly one of the best boutique hotels in Taipei.

Ok ! The rooms are very pleasant, although the mattress is little soft, leading to a discomfited back upon morning. The shower is excellent with space and water pressure one dreams of. The toiletries are high quality with gentle and pleasant scents. I cannot fault the staff i any venue who were pleasant, personable and assisted whenever possible. One has to appreciate the morning , afternoon and evening snacks. The lounge benefits at 1730pm are a definite bonus. My only gripe is the Tavernist restaurant. Whilst the breakfast is good, it is let down by a few small yet relevant points. I had various breakfasts including poached eggs every day. The yolks were hard on every occasion which was disappointing and unnecessary showing a lack of attention to quality. Similarly, the western dishes were always served lukewarm warm/cold. The yoghurt was unusually thin with a runny consistency and served with an odd tasting granola. This is perhaps a kitchen oversight issue!

Google
Excellent hotel. Staff were all very hospitable, the rooms were comfortable, and the little welcome snack was adorable. Wifi was reasonably fast. Location is very good, situated by a convenience store and the Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT. The bathroom doors are a problem, though. Firstly, the toilet and shower share the same sliding door so you cannot close both at the same time. Secondly, the door is mirrored on both sides. So when you’re sitting on the toilet, you get a front row ticket to your own show. It’s… not ideal. Please install some art there or something.

Stayed here for 4 nights in Taipei, location wise, it is really convenient, less than 5mins on foot from the MRT, making it easy to access despite the rain. Getting here from the airport is quite easy as the airport express stops at Taipei Main station, and you just need to transfer to another line for 3 more stops. On my check-in, service from the staff were very pleasant, from the moment I walked in, all the way till I checked out. The rooms were really spacious, clean and well fitted. Love that there's a water dispenser in each room, so that I have quick access to drinking water, a problem in other places which resulted in us having to buy our own mineral water while on vacation. Love the social hours, was there briefly for the evening on my 1st day, but when to the rest in the morning, which serves dou jiang, coffee and some light snacks. Vicinity wise, there's SOGO pretty nearby, as well access to some nice eateries and bars, recommend you to check out the neighbourhood! I would definitely be booking at this hotel again when I'm back in Taipei.

We revisited the Kimpton again in November. We treated our Aunt and Uncle to the Kimpton experience this time around. They loved it!!||We were all grandly treated by the entire staff, from the moment our UBER pulled into the entry. Starting with the front desk, every crew member we encountered was professional and friendly.||Our room was comfortable, per usual. Quality standards are always upheld and any and all request are promptly and cheerfully accomodated. ||A special shoutout to the Concierge staff!! Ethan, Hunter and Rohit made our visit all so comfortable. Reinforcing once again that this is "our home away from home".||Thanks again to Mathew, the GM. I've always believed any great hospitality flows from the top down. Its always a pleasure to see him at Social Hour and enjoy a glass (or three) of Chilean Red with him.

Where do I start?! This hotel was one of two we stayed at in Taipei, and this was my preferred one. Great location, clean and inviting rooms (blackout blinds and water purifiers in each room were nice touches), a happy hour twice a day offering free snacks and drinks, and AMAZING customer service. Hunter in concierge provided us with some of the best care we have ever experienced in a hotel, and we have stayed in MANY hotels across the globe. We had a gruelling 15 hour flight ahead of us and upon returning to the hotel to collect our luggage, we asked if we could freshen up somewhere as we had been trekking around Taipei all afternoon. Hunter explained that as it was a Friday, the hotel was at full occupancy and a spare room was not available. Despite this she found us somewhere to take a shower, change and generally recompose ourselves ahead of traveling to the airport. She worked her magic and coordinated with her team to make it happen, all whilst being so gracious and professional. She was doing us the favour, yet despite this, she was so polite and respectful to us the whole time. Please give Hunter this feedback and let her know that she made quite the impact 🥰. One other positive- the location features a Family Mart and train station both within a 1 minute walk from the hotel. Great for getting around the city, or grabbing some late night snacks on the way back to the room.

Yelp
This is a fantastic hotel, resulting from the renovation of a boring residential building in one of Taipei's coolest areas. The rooms are quite beautiful and comfortable. They are big and have a great shower, and some of them even a large square bath. They homage Taipei's tiles tradition. The lobby is quite active, basic coffee and croissants breakfast is offered here for free. And it has a nice courtyard garden. Only weaker point is the restaurant. The days I was there there was no breakfast menu, and as someone who travels with a tide schedule, breakfast are often the opportunities to know more about the country's cuisine. Not here. Overall, great place to stay when in Taipei.

Yelp
All stuffs are very friendly. I feel everyone wants to be my best friends here. This is very cool low-key boutique hotel that has good elegant smell in the lobby. Bathroom was amazing with cool white tiles, rainforest shower and a deep soaking tub. Plenty of heavenly smelling bath amenities. Guest room: My favorite part of the stay is the coffee station in the guest room. I smiled when I saw that the espresso pods and creamers are kept in a little green replica of the Tatung classic Taiwanese rice cooker ;) The bed is so comfortable. And of course, you can't complete your vacation without a fancy Japanese Toto toilet in the room. Location: it locates in a quiet residential street and only 5 minutes walk to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station #3 exit. And is across the street from two SOGO department stores and close to a underground shopping area too. Lots of luxury retailers tucked away in the neighborhood around the hotel. Totally a shopaholic's paradise. Dining: my local Taiwanese friends all said the restaurant on the 12th floor is a hidden gem. Too bad I didn't get to try it this time. There are many good local restaurants close by including one Michelin rated restaurant.
