Kimpton De Witt

"How did it strike you on arrival? The spartan exterior, save for a single neon side reading "and breathe" that peeks out from the green facade, belies the stylish decor inside. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Sleek yet cozy decor peppered with calming shades of blue and dark wood furniture. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies?Marie-Stella-Maris soaps and lotions, and gold-plated door knockers shaped like bees, dragonflies, and butterflies bring the charm, while coffee table art books are stylish and entertaining. Room service and food: Worth it?Downstairs, the restaurant Wyers serves elevated comfort food with a Dutch twist, like the Little Monster Burger, with two patties topped with pickles and smothered in young Gouda cheese and caramelized onions for about $16. Anything stand out about other services and features?Guests are welcome to relax in the swing sets hanging in the lobby's courtyard. Or pop into House Bar, located inside a former home that dates back to 1645, for an expertly crafted drink. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It's the first Kimpton hotel to open in Europe, and the location is one of the most convenient in Amsterdam—just a short walk from Centraal Station." - Meredith Bethune

My family and I absolutely LOVED our stay here! The staff at this hotel are second to none and were incredibly kind and welcoming. The atmosphere of this place was also just so upbeat and full of life with guests of different ages and backgrounds. The decor and furniture were so cute too! The rooms were also very clean, and if you had an issue, you could literally just text the front desk for assistance! The location was also fantastic and very walkable. Happy hour was also such an enjoyable touch to our days--we would return from our excursions and could always rely on a quick drink/finger snacks. Breakfast did tend to get a bit busy, and I'd suggest going really early or way later if you want a bit of a calmer dining room! There were great options for the buffet, as well as à la carte options. Mega compliments to the chefs and dining staff! Overall, super happy with this place and hope to return when we come back to Amsterdam! :)

My stay at this hotel was so enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I was visiting Amsterdam over the King’s Birthday weekend. As the city would be beyond crowded the hotel staff were particularly helpful in making sure I stayed safe. The breakfasts were delicious. Excellent cappuccinos made individually for guests. The coffee bar serves freshly baked cakes and pastries. Just perfect to take with you if you are going on a train trip. I will definitely return to Kimpton de Witt when I am next in Amsterdam.

My husband and I recently stayed here for several nights while exploring Amsterdam. We loved this hotel! The staff were friendly and attentive; the room was quiet, comfortable and clean with nice amenities like a yoga mat and Nespresso machine; and the hotel cafe and restaurant were convenient and very good. The location of the hotel was perfect for our first trip to Amsterdam- it was walking distance to so many great neighborhoods and less than a five minute walk to the Central Station. Highly recommend!!

Google
I am a huge fan of Kimpton brand unfortunately Kimpton Amsterdam did not live up to its standards. Other than the proximity to train station, there is nothing charming about the location but that was my mistake for not researching enough. I booked using Chase Edition which gives amazing perks but you also pay extra. I was looking forward to a nice room upgrade but nothing. This is my first time using the program where I didn’t get an upgrade. My room on the very first floor. We had dinner at the restaurant to use the perk but the food was just plain bad. I don’t understand how a hotel that was recommended by Michelin can be so bad. None of the items from menu was good. We had been traveling Europe for about 2 weeks and this was the worst meal. Wish we didn’t eat there because it was a lost opportunity to try other wonderful restaurants in Amsterdam. Breakfast buffet was boring and again, the quality didn’t live up to its name. It was sort of more like 3 star hotel quality. There are other things like bathroom being very tiny even for European standard. It felt more like transit hotels than a nice hotel to relax and recharge.

This hotel is fantastic! The rooms are super clean and you get plenty of towels, pillows and even a mini fridge where you can keep your snacks. In addition, the breakfast is all exceptional. If you want to be healthy, they have what you need. If you want to induldge, they've got you! HUGH, in particular, was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day-friendly, funny, and kind.

Stayed for 3 nights for a quick stay in Amsterdam. The location was wonderful, very conveniently located to centraal station and to use the tram to get around. The staff was excellent and very friendly, especially Evalina and the breakfast staff. Room was very tidy, and we were upgraded to the king premium room upon check in which was nice. The beds were comfortable, although the sheets were almost as rough as sandpaper, and the heat/cooling was turned off (early April), so the room was fine in the evening, but somehow would always get very hot around 1 am? Otherwise, would recommend!

A fantastic hotel in a great central location. Within walking distance of the train station and central Amsterdam. The service is fantastic, polite and attentive staff, rooms are clean, breakfast is fresh and lots of choice. There are complimentary drinks between 16:00-17:00 each day…I could go on. I would highly recommend.

We had some issues at check in (room wasn’t ready as it was a maintenance problem apparently but it was two hours past check in time) then someone else had been given our same room (fortunately we were in the room when they entered when the key) but management rectified the situation and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. ||Excellent breakfast buffet and menu. Hugh especially at breakfast was wonderful and a ray of sunshine! Seek him out :) ||Pillows are definitely waaaay too soft (no support at all) but this is an overall hotel issue and I don’t understand why they continue to give people these feather pillows that don’t offer any support. Maybe just a preference thing. However they did try to assist in providing better pillows. Overall was a very nice hotel.

Yelp
Amazing hotel and better service. Excellent location. We were there for a week and we are actually going back and we will stay there again.

Yelp
It should be noted that this was a first visit to both Amsterdam, and the Kimpton De Witt in downtown city center November, 2023. That being said, throughout our entire four night stay, we were met with superior hospitality and service at every aspect of the hotel we explored. The hotel itself is modern, hip, with a very inviting lobby lounge. Given the location and hotel amenities, I would absolutely return to the Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam. Welcome: Upon our evening arrival and check-in we were warmly welcomed by the all smiles front desk staff. Given the celebratory purpose of our visit (honeymoon & bday) we were gifted vouchers for 15% off, and two complementary drinks at the Kimpton De Witt California inspired restaurant, Celia. Staff made friendly small talk, expounding on the city's recommended sites, and throughly explained the various hotel amenities offered, including the daily breakfast at Celia's we opted for, daily "social hour" which includes complimentary wine/beer (4-5pm), bicycles for rent, and the Super Lyan bar. Room: Given the nature of our stay we booked a Junior suite. No regrets there! Our 5th floor Jr. suite included a few steps down to access the room off the main hallway. As an American I find anywhere outside the U.S. (excluding NYC) the rooms are quaint and small, but the Kimpton De Witt is packed with charm and style. Upon entry we were greeted by a chilled bottle of champagne, a box of chocolates, and a handwritten welcome note (pictured). The room included complimentary Nespresso machine, tea, (2) bottles of water by Marie-Stella-Maris, an open fridge for future leftovers and beverages of your choice, a sleek Tube Audio Bluetooth speaker, TV, the softest robes by Frette, a yoga mat, in-shower body/skin care by ga mats, Marie-Stella-Maris, and a very cozy bed. The junior suite offers ample space for two plus a sofa bed. Aside from the current worldwide trendy bathroom design which includes a missing shower door/curtain, and the arms length distance between the toilet and the toilet paper- there's no room for complaints. The morning views from our room of the tops of buildings, pipping chimneys, and the hotel below was a constant reminder that we were home in Amsterdam. Amenities: While there is no free continental breakfast, we found the addition of breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Celia a convenient way to start the day; even if by day four the options appeared all too familiar. Each cup of coffee comes hot and fresh, and aside from the buffet eggs the chef is on hand for special requests like omelets or poached eggs. Before dining at Celia we enjoyed our first beer in Amsterdam at the bar where we picked the brains of the bartenders who were willing to give their recommendations on Amsterdam's nightlife. Even with a California inspired menu which meant a "home cooked meal" to us, we found the dinner menu and its courses to be delicious and different - in a good way! (Good luck trying to find a baked potato or white rice in Amsterdam, Americans.) Unless you're visiting in the summer, you will most likely want to take advantage of the complimentary umbrellas to borrow, conveniently located by the front entrance. As a city heavily populated with cyclists you would be remised if you didn't take advantage of their complimentary bicycle rental. Come evening time, imbibe at the cafe turned complimentary bar in the lounge area between Super Lyan and Celia for "social hour" btw. 4-5pm. Enjoy your choice of European wines (red/white) or Heineken along with small bites, while supplies last! Before calling it a night, or if you're just getting the night started consider the hotel bar, Super Lyan. The sleek modern style extends into one of Amsterdam's well-known watering holes with a unique menu of fine crafted cocktails. Overall, I have found no reason to complain about the staff or the suite at Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam. Given the location alone is a minute's walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife I would highly recommend visiting. To the entire staff of the Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam from the front desk, to housekeeping, I cannot thank you all enough for your outstanding hospitality. You each made our celebratory stay a pleasurable one, and a lasting memory we will cherish until next time. Thank you!

Yelp
LOVED. LOVED. LOVED this hotel. This hotel is one of the main reasons as to why I want to come back to Amsterdam. It was literally one of the few places that we stayed in of the various places that had English speaking channels. We were struggling, ok! The accommodations were phenomenal as well. They even put a crib in my room without me asking. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was truly one of the best breakfasts of all of our stays. Omelets cook to order. Croissants were so buttery and flaky. The staff was so accommodating, friendly and made us feel very welcomed. We even met someone who was from Florida. We plan to come back to Amsterdam to stay longer and specifically stay here.

Yelp
Second time we've stayed here and I've enjoyed it both times. A few additional notes: -The rooms are just as nice as I remember, and I love the little decorative touches just as much the second time. -The central location is one of the main draws for this hotel -The overnight parking (which is a steep 55 Euros per night) is behind the hotel, and you have to have someone from the hotel key card you into the garage each time you need to get your car. That said, people were readily available to help and we never felt like we were delayed because of this. -Staff remains friendly and helpful. I am sure we might explore other options in Amsterdam but we really do love this hotel.

Yelp
We stayed here for 6 nights during our week long trip in Amsterdam. We were able to take the train from the airport to the Central train station, then it was just a short 7-10 minutes walk to the hotel. There's also a GVB tram station just a stone throw away from the hotel.  I know you are supposed to come back to the hotel to rest after a long day of sightseeing, but I actually had to do some work and the room was too dark.  We were able to request an extra lamp (which helped a little) and extra blankets for our room. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot.  They have an espresso machine in the morning and fruit infused cold water in the lobby for your convenience. We dine at Celia Restaurant is connected to the hotel once during our stay ordering a la carte. The room did provide umbrellas, robes and slippers. We did not have any issue at this hotel and it was the perfect location for all the sightseeing either walking, train, or GVB tram.

Yelp
Staying at the Kimpton De Witt is always a treat. The hotel is beautifully decorated and laid out, with lots of places to sit and enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee, tea, or wine. They in a great location, located close to Central Station, lots of shopping, restaurants, and a short walk to the Red Light District. Thr staff was very friendly and let us check in early as we were exhausted from our flight. They have a delicious breakfast, with a assortment of meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, fruit, pastries, bread, yogurt, coffee, and more. You can also select from a menu of dishes like Eggs Royal, Eggs Benedict, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and more. Everything was delicious and the perfect way to start our morning. After breakfast, we would do Tea in the Conservatory, brightly lit with a skylight and covered with plants. The tea selection was good, and they provided sugar and milk as well. In the evenings, there is a complimentary wine hour, where we got to taste a few wines, which were paired with a small appetizer. Their restaurant had good cocktails and a greet dinner. We were had the whole chicken, tacos, pumpkin and a few other things. Everything xame out quickly and was delicious. The rooms were tastefully decorated, and had very comfortable king sized beds. Each room also came with tea and nespresso maker, and some beautiful ornate cups and saucers.

Yelp
We had a large group of nearly 70 people staying at this hotel, and they did everything in their power to make this stay incredible. The rooms were huge for Europe. Like so much room for activities. Our bathroom was lovely and well appointed, though not much counter space for my makeup bag. The room itself was bright and welcoming with a large comfortable bed, mini-fridge and plenty of storage space. Our group met for private cocktail hours in the back bar area as well as breakfasts in the restaurant. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and extremely accommodating. Everything is in walking distance from this hotel and you can catch public transport as well as the train station just a short walk around the corner.

Yelp
An absolutely outstanding property ideally located in Amsterdam. This hotel delivers all one would expect from a Kimpton property. Style, comfort, and exceptional service from the front desk staff. Their English is perfect and they were so helpful. This hotel is literally steps from the train station and just a short walk from all of the major tourist sites. Absolutely loved our stay. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Awful experience last week. reviews on trip advisor are true. No ac in our first room. Rude staff. As we heard many others complaining during stay. Staff at front desk said hotel was full and couldn't move us, but after complaining with manager a room was found. Still on same side of hotel and ac was not that great for the 4 following nights. No bathroom counter as it's pedestal sink and room and bathroom are extremely small. We have been to Europe every few years for work/ travel and this was the worst hotel we stayed in. I do not know how they get such good reviews or even have stars. I used shower shoes bc of the mold on the floor in the shower. Won't suggest to friends or be back on next trip to Amsterdam.

Yelp
Kimpton.....ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A TRUE LUXURY EXPERIENCE IN AMSTERDAM? If so, DO NOT, stay at the Kimpton de Witt, Amsterdam. The hotel is definitely overpriced for what they offer. Small, cramped rooms with no closet, no where to put your luggage, inconsistent housekeeping and dirty carpeting. We stayed at this 4 star (which it is not) hotel for 3 nights. There was no housekeeping for two of those nights, no fresh towels, bed unmade, and room and bath not cleaned. When we needed clean towels because we wanted to shower before going to dinner, we waited 30 minutes. No clean towels arrived and when the towels were finally brought to the room, there was only one bath towel for the two of us...really?? We were brought an additional towel after another phone call and an additional wait. We were three adult couples traveling together. When we checked in, there was no one to help with the luggage until we complained. One couple was put in a room with broken air conditioning. We had to argue with the management and threaten to check out before that couple was given a different room with properly working air conditioning. Checking out and going elsewhere would have been the wiser decision. You only have one FIRST chance to make a GREAT first impression. The Kimpton, Amsterdam completely missed the mark. The Kimpton is definitely not a 4 star hotel. If I could write this review, and give the Kimpton no stars, I would. There was NOTHING that was luxury at this hotel. Not the rooms, not the housekeeping, not the air conditioning and not the included buffet breakfast. The Kimpton is an overpriced 2 to 21/2 star hotel at best masquerading as a 4 star hotel with glowing reviews from various sources. Obviously those reviewers have never stayed at true 4 and 5 star hotels. The only plus was a friendly staff.

Yelp
Great location, close to restaurants and bars. Lobby and bar are really nice. Staff is polite and helpful. Only one downside, toilet paper is like sandpaper....
google avatar

Lena H.

Yelp
Beautiful modern hotel with large luxe rooms in the perfect location. Evening wine hour was a lively unexpected bonus!

Mary Ellen G.

Yelp
Cannot believe the positive reviews on this hotel. Our family travels often in Europe and has obviously become accustomed to a higher level of comfort than those people reviewing this hotel. If you want a small, hardly a/c'd, dark and dirty hotel then this one is for you. There is no closet space, no place for your bags. The bathroom is so small that you cannot bring in your cosmetics because there's no place to put them. We found the room dark without good lighting. Yes the location is convenient but is that the only reason to stay here? By far there are better choices than the Kimpton. Don't know about you but when on vacation I'd prefer some luxury for my money and not a dingy one star hotel like the Kimpton.

Yelp
LOVE this hotel! First off, every single staff member went above and beyond here. From check in, to the complimentary happy hour, the service was top notch. The rooms are a bit small, but well appointed and exactly as pictured. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station and all other stops in Amsterdam. This is probably my favorite out of all the Kimptons I have been to. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel in so many ways! We had explored the possibility of both substantially more expensive, and some less costly options, but the Kimpton pricing was very commensurate with their features. I do strongly recommend upgrading a couple of levels to the King Executive, which comes with a larger room, and a really good size bathroom which included a generous deep soaking tub. We originally booked the basic room, but after a one night stay, we opted for the upgraded King Executive for the rest of our entire stay. Some things I really loved about the hotel: * It's fairly new! Only about a year old, it was previous a Crown Plaza hotel, but you never would've guessed it. It's been completely remodeled through and through. They didn't end up with lipstick on a pig, as so many so-called remodels end up being. Instead, they ended up with a modern, contemporary redo, that I never would've guessed had any connection with any hotel at the same level of a Crown Plaza. * Modern furnishing throughout. The bathrooms were really modern, as were the rooms themselves, along with the beautifully done public areas. * Ideal location. Easy walking distance to everything! About a 5 minute walk to the train station and meeting spots for tours, including canal tours. I've stayed in other areas of Amsterdam which provided more of a local scene, but I enjoy being close to the heart of it all. * Super nice, helpful staff. We were always pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff. * Great lobby area with plenty of various seating areas throughout. It's a great place to hang out for a drink or even Yelp a review. I spent a fair amount of time here whenever I was in the hotel. * Complimentary Wine. Added plus was a complimentary wine hour between 5-6pm. We missed it by arriving a couple of minutes late after a long day of sightseeing and the front desk staff was kind enough to extend an offer for me enjoy a glass of wine at any time during my stay. * Free Bikes. I didn't take advantage of it, but they provide free bikes to ride around town with. Be forewarned, though, as bikers here, at least in this busy part of Central Amsterdam, are serious adept commuter bikers who know how to effortlessly maneuver between among cars and pedestrians. Bike riding here isn't for leisurely path riders who want to take a break every 15 minutes. Now, a couple of areas in need of improvement: * No in-room WiFi. I could receive only barely sporadic WiFi on my phone, at best, which attributed to my greater than normal time spent in a hotel lobby, where WiFi was fine. * Inattentive/Unfriendly Housekeeping Staff. After three nights of seeing my obviously almost empty wine glass sitting by the TV, I finallly took it downstairs myself. The soap bottles which were half filled, were never refilled, and I had to phone the front desk at night when we returned to get them refilled. Ditto with the q-tips. Also, we would greet housekeeping in the morning as we were leaving, but their response was fairly muted. Surprising, since everyone at the front desk was very very welcoming. I really wanted to give the Kimpton a 5-star, because there was so many aspects I really enjoyed an appreciated. However, because of the areas that need improvement, it is not perfect. In my opinion, whenever I see that coveted 5-star award, I interpret that to mean, it's absolutely perfect, or perhaps just a hairline crack from being there. The Kimpton is a solid 4-star, which I would easily opt to return to on another Amsterdam visit.

Yelp
I guess if you are coming from the Four Seasons in London, this is definitely no comparison. The service is sub-par, the rooms were bare and kind of dirty. Someone else's pubic hairs were found on our toilet, and the bathroom had a funky smell. There was construction work starting at 7am in the morning waking you up with the loud pounding and drilling. I booked this place because it was supposed to be a 4 Star hotel and the other Kimpton Hotels in the states were generally very good. Big disappointment. They also told me that we should be expecting something nice for our celebration....we got NOTHING. I gave 2 stars because some of the staff were friendly and helpful. It's also in a decent location walking distance to good restaurants and attractions.

Yelp
Easy breezy friendly check-in. Room was quite small but everything we needed. Shower was large, ample space in bathroom. Of course very clean, modern and ample USB. Room was quiet. We enjoyed the restaurant at lunch. Not great views but friendly service and delicious food.

Outstanding location, excellent services, and great facilities. The staff made us feel like we were home.

Yelp
Staying at the Dewitt in Amsterdam. It's perfect. Say a bunch of negatives about their breakfast. So here the scoop. It's an additional €17 if you haven't negotiated it in your initial reservation. WORTH EVERY BIT OF €17. Very nice, above average buffet. BUT you also have access to their menu. I ordered Salmon Toast. It was equivalent to Lox & Cream Cheese but on toast. They had also included an omelet. Excellent service. Good pancakes on the buffet. So that's that.

Yelp
I arrived here for a 18 hour stopover in this wonderful city. From Schiphol airport the train ride was less than twenty minutes. The direction says it's less than a five minute walk outside the train station. I was so adamant that the hotel was on Damrak Avenue but was actually the next street over after rolling my $40 Costco rollaway through the small streets of Amsterdam. Upon check-in the receptionist mentioned that they were preparing my room and offered a glass of wine and nuts for the inconvenience. I waited for over an hour and no follow up. I went to the front desk to ask what's the 411, they were apologetic and offered me a breakfast voucher the next morning. I was scheduled to check out early before 9 AM. I should've pushed more. After I checked into my room I headed downstairs for 5 PM happy hour with the other guests. Boy, the wine was flowing. I probably had 4 or 5 glasses during the hour. They also have several bikes to borrow but I did not partake on that service. The hotel was beautiful and had a tasteful Dutch influence (think Delft Blue). Then breakfast the next morning at Wyers Bar & Restaurant wasn't your typical European breakfast buffet, however the presentation and amount of food made it equally as filling. I didn't try Miss Louisa Coffee and Beignets but I hope to on my next return to one of my fave cities. I walked less than five minutes to the train station to the train to Schiphol to board my KLM Cityhopper to Vienna.

Yelp
We stayed here in the Summer of 2018 and really enjoyed our stay! The lobby bar is simply gorgeous and with a very sophisticated cocktail selection. Room was spacious, tastefully decorated with lots of smart options for storage. I also loved that they had an actual tea set in the room for you to make tea the old school way. The location is hard to beat being right in the city center. I seek out Kimpton hotels during our travels because of their customer service and the quirky & trendy, but equally elegant ambiance of their properties. Overall, one of my favorite hotels in recent years :) I can't wait to visit next time with my furbaby!

Yelp
Amazing hotel! Best customer service I have ever experienced! From the moment you walk into the hotel, you have wonderful staff greeting you. I really appreciated them as we stayed during a busy time but never failed to ask how we were doing or make sure our stay was a pleasant one. I was mostly helped by Luz, she was very sweet and did her best for me and my fiancé as our room was not ready when we arrived but made sure we were situated swiftly. There was also great service at the bar, attached to the hotel but not part of the hotel. Prices were similar to Miami prices, hand crafted and delicious! Concierge was also very helpful, assisted me for all of my dinner reservations even last minute ones. FYI always make dinner reservations because restaurants will turn you down if you don't. Lovely, clean, organized, friendly place to stay. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the room they put me in was very small and had poor lighting. I know they have bigger suits, as our friends that we were traveling with, had a lot more space and payed same amount as we did. Nonetheless, like I said it was a busy time so I can't blame them for not changing my room as they did try but just couldn't.

Yelp
Great hotel 5 min from the train station, 10 min to the flower district and 8 minutes to the red light district. Trains, tulips and... window shopping? You can hop on the tram outside and get to the museums if your gawking at nudes has a slightly more artistic edge. Amsterdam is the New Orleans of Europe. The Kimpton is one of the best places to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The lobby has a good coffee bar located in it. And they built the hotel around a historic bar which makes great craft cocktails, and sports a giant taxidermy pink cockatoo, wings spread. If it starts flying, then you are too, and it's automatic last call. Didn't try the restaurant but it looked like they have good breakfast. That's American plan, but we were on modified Scottish plan: pinch that penny 'til the eagle screams! A cup of coffee along the way is easy to find. The staff were extremely nice and made a huge impact on me, as they had bothered to read the special comments on my booking. When I come back to Amsterdam, I'm staying here.

Yelp
The Kimpton De Witt offers a contemporary yet warm environment, supported by the knowledge and actions of the staff. My companion and I had an exceptionally good visit. I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality. The rooms are quite spacious, even by US standards. We reserved a 2 bed option. The beds can be pushed together, if desired. The rooms and common areas are immaculately clean and the decor is modern. The property is centrally located, but doesn't have that grimy well-worn "big city" hotel feel that is common with metropolitan hotels. I highly recommend this property.

Yelp
We had a great stay here at the Kimpton. The staff are incredible and the hotel is so pretty. The social hour with complimentary wine everyday was a cool touch. The bar and restaurant here look super cool, we unfortunately did not have time to visit due to the Covid restrictions our time was limited for dining out but we definitely will give it a try when we return next time. The hotel has complimentary bike rentals and they are super nice bikes. That made exploring Amsterdam so much easier. Definitely would recommend checking this hotel out. The front desk staff, especially Julia was so helpful!

Yelp
I've stayed in my fair share of hotels for leisure and business, and this wowed me completely. So much so that every time I search for a hotel in a new city, I'm going to see if they have a Kimpton. Pros: - As an IHG Platinum member, I got a free room upgrade to a King Deluxe - Platinum members also get a free 15 euro bar or minibar voucher - Breakfast is high quality, and a la carte instead of buffet, with lots of healthy options (but those looking for lots of bacon and sausage might struggle) - Rooms are very tastefully decorated - midcentury style with touches of modern - Nespresso machines with lots of pods (8!) - Great location, walking distance to many of the main tourist areas - Free wine every day from 5 to 6pm in the lobby - Amazing lobby with comfy chairs and sofas - Free New York Times newspapers, everywhere in the lobby Cons: - Hotel is on a main road, so ask for a room not facing the road for some peace - Non-upgraded rooms (e.g. queen/doubles) look very small on the website - Shampoo and body wash are big bottles, not individual one-use bottles - Bar is slightly expensive (11 euros for a non-alcoholic cocktail) - Wifi is free, but slower than I would have liked for business. Google Hangouts worked fine but webpage loading was slow

Yelp
I am definitely not happy with the lousy customer relation/front desk service. We travel few times a year for quite some years and by far this was my WORSE check-in experience!!! I totally understand room might not be ready when arrive early before check in time. However, what I don't understand was when the front desk pre-checked us in and told us it would be ready at 3pm BUT the room was not ready for over another hour?!? I am a reasonable person, so at 3pm when they told me it would be another 15-20 minutes, I told them that's fine and will be waiting at the lobby. Then guess what, this '15-20 more minutes' shit happened for 3 times, and every time we checked they told me a different story! Timeline and their stories: At 1ish : room was not ready yet, pre-checked in first and even gave us a room number on the 5th floor. Around 3pm : housekeeping is inside 'my room' cleaning. At 3:20pm : they called upstairs but no one answer, the supervisor will go over to the room and check. At 3:45pm : the supervisor is cleaning the room herself...wow, really?!?! All the lies and they couldn't even get the story straight. Finally when they gave us a room after 4pm, it's on a different floor, not even the initially room we were told during pre-check in. All in all, this hotel is clean and convenient but lack of closet space in the rooms. To me, it's a 3 stars hotel at best, minus 1 star for the BS front desk experience during check-in.

Yelp
Five stars only because of the staff. We were first in the standard room, which was a typical standard hotel room. I got fussy and wanted something bigger and better. The staff didn't mind and actually enjoyed helping us select the new room (shout out to Darrel and Brandon). The new room was perfect and had an amazing view (room 501). Loved it. Another staff member, AJ, helped navigate dinner reservations, how to get last minute Anne Frank house tickets, and other activities. The bar staff was friendly and helpful as well. Steve in the Wyres Restaurant, which is part of the hotel, went above and beyond serving us. Location didn't stink either. Five minutes away from the train station and in the middle of everything. Again, the staff was amazing and went above and beyond our high maintenance needs!

Yelp
Situated just a few blocks south of the Central Station the Kimpton De Witt hotel is a first class place to stay. The hotel has a modern look and feel. Rooms are spacious as well as the bathrooms. Every possible accessory for the room and bath is included. There is a nice gym located within the hotel, wine tasting every day from 5:00 - 6:00 pm every evening and tea service all the time in the lobby. Breakfast room is large and has a wide variety of eggs, fruit, juices, breads, meats, cheeses etc. Concierge is very helpful and more than willing to help with restaurant recommendations, reservations or any other sites you may be interested in. Best of all, being centrally located you can either walk or take a short tram ride to virtually any site or restaurant. The Kimpton De Witt is part of the IHG line of hotels and I can highly recommend it if you are looking for a very nice hotel in Central Amsterdam.

Yelp
Loved staying here! The WiFi is fast/free. Checkout the Hotel bar after 5 very cool atmosphere. If you go to Wyers Maria Teresa will always make sure your glass is full for bottomless mimosas. I especially enjoyed the higher end luxe toiletries and the extremely comfortable bedding. This was truly worth the price. My friend also had a massage and loved it. Special thanks to the hotels concierge, and front desk personnel you are so accommodating and friendly. We will be back!

Yelp
My second stay here. The first was flawless, this one was not. It is amazing to me how much wear and tear this place has endured in six months. The wifi was out for four of the six days I was there. Even boarding passes could not be printed. I feel that their website bait and switched me. Right before my departure, I checked my reservation, and for the first time it indicated I had booked twin beds (which I most certainly had not). A call to the IHG call center in the Phillipines was oddly unreassuring, so I called the hotel directly, and was reassured I would get a king sized bed. Upon arrival, my room was not ready, and when it was, it was twin beds. The breakfast service is simply horrible. Despite being a buffet, the wait staff provide zero service. If you want a second cup of coffee, you get up and find the coffeepot and pour yourself. As I told. M. over the phone, I will not return to a hotel that gives me twin beds against my wishes. So there.

Yelp
Definitely stay here. Great, central location, excellent amenities, delicious food and drinks, extremely dog friendly. We have the most adorable junior suite and could not be more pleased with their offerings. So glad we are staying here! They also offer dog sitters and dog beds!

Yelp
Their loyalty program is fantastic. Amongst other various perks, it provided us with a free upgrade. We were half a world away from USA, yet when we walked into the Kimpton, it felt like home. It smelled the same, looked the same, and the people were the same - happy and helpful. We were upgraded to the Little House, their most impressive suite, which was the childhood home of legendary Dutch playwright, P.C. Hooft. The hotel is built around the house - look it up, it's awesome. Our experience here, top to bottom, took our vacation to another level. When we checked in, we mentioned that we'd be searching for the canal we got engaged on 10 years ago - came back to the room later to find a tower of delicious chocolates and treats, champagne, and a lovely note from the staff wishing us luck on our search. Kimpton is really something special.

Yelp
I chose this hotel in Amsterdam based on the location and good reviews. I wasn't disappointed! We were in walking distance to many neighborhoods, and the Central Station. Our room was large (especially for European standards), the bed was extremely comfortable, they had an elevator too, which isn't always common. The decor felt chic and modern, yet cozy. The front desk was very welcoming and helpful. They made some great restaurant recommendations and called and made reservations for us. Which was so helpful! We enjoyed the complementary evening wine reception, which allowed us to relax and unwind and meet other guests as well as staff. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Thank you Kimpton, for making our Amsterdam vacation comfortable as well as memorable.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. The location is awesome. You are right in the center of everything - close to the train station and many great restaurants. The entire staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. The concierge gave me lots of great advice and purchased tickets for me on multiple occasions. The room was a bit small but the price was good. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars was because the bathroom had no counter space and a really weird door. It had privacy glass up to about 5 feet or so and then clear glass above that. So 1) the light comes in the room late at night and 2) you can make out the silhouette of someone in the bathroom and 3) you could see over the top of the privacy glass. A bit too weird for me.

Yelp
The Good: :: it's the first Kimpton opened in Europe! :: their service. everyone is incredibly friendly, warm, engaging, and considerate. the wonderful people at the checkin process, the concierge, the baggage handlers, housekeeping, the happy hour reps, the hostess and servers in the restaurant...everyone is absolutely incredible and make my stay pleasant. :: the rooms are great---beds are super comfortable, love the complementary water, love the bath and shower amenities, love their policy that if you forget something, they will provide you with it FREE OF CHARGE. no nickel-and-diming here. for example, you forget a toothbrush? no problem. forget a shaver? no problem. there's a list of things they provide you with as a courtesy to their guests, should you forget something critical and are in a bind. LOVE it that they don't nickel-and-dime you. :: every day they have a wine happy hour from 5-6pm. they serve white and red wines and there's no limit to how many glasses you can get. they also have delicious tasty snacks to accompany the wine! :: the restaurant onsite is delicious. go for their duck breast, their buffalo wings, their roasted cauliflower, their hanger steak and fries, or their grilled salmon. don't forget the lobster duo and the quinoa salad! :: they have free tea all morning! they set up a stand in the lobby and you can get tea to enjoy on premise or takeaway in a to-go cup. there's earl grey, chamomile, and green tea, for example. they also have fresh mint leaves, fresh ginger slices and fresh lemon slices to add to your tea! :: there are always copies of the NY Times in English on the lobby table :: their laundry service is on point. i had my favorite white sweater with blood all over it (don't ask), and they were able to remove it for me completely. unbelievable! :: the vibe of the hotel is cool but not pretentious nor douchey. before i stayed here, i stayed at the W close by and i hated it. this place is not having to try too hard, which is great bc that is what makes them so appealing. :: the gym is small but great, because it doesn't have tons of extraneous equipment no one ever uses. machines are multipurpose, for example. they also have fresh green apples and infused water in the gym. :: their location---they are a few minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station, which makes getting around Amsterdam extremely easy and convenient! bus, train, metro, tram...all within a few minutes walk. :: wifi is free! :: plenty of places to chill and relax downstairs :: they always play really awesome music in the lobby. seriously. it's not douchey, club music like at the W. it's just good music. i can sit in the lobby and work without annoyance for hours. that is awesome. The Bad: :: none The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? 100% yes. This is my home away from home when I'm in Amsterdam for my long-haul projects. The warmth and friendliness of staff, in addition to the awesome vibe of the hotel and proximity to Amsterdam Centraal Station, make it a no brainer for me to make this my hotel of choice. This place is IN.

Yelp
Hip and young money vibe. Good bar and okay restaurant attached. The restaurant is not as outstanding as the reviews tend. Newer rooms and decor Not the best noise insulation ( could hear loud bass beat most of my evening) Nice free happy hour 6 minute walk from train station Beyond helpful staff.

Yelp
Customer service was outstanding however the staff lacked the ability to resolve issues on the stop, ie; empowerment. We encountered an issue with our room bar fridge where the day before we put in a small milk, yogurt and noticed the next day that it went bad due to the fact the unit was not cooling. I'm glad it wasn't medication. The hotel is in an excellent location, about a 5 min walk from central train station. This small boutique type of property with contemporary styling marries Dutch old traditions and design with the Renoir inspired modern art and blue Delph porcelain and design modern everyday Dutch life. Not every room is alike, each room is of a different size so if you are like us, both over 6 feet tall or 1.90m then feel free to ask for a larger room with a large bed. Our bed was no larger than a double size, and the check in clerk should have gone outside her 'scripted training'. This was not an issue for us, we are used to snuggling but those who are not should request two beds or seek alternate arrangements. All in all this is a lovely property I'm a huge fan of Kimpton properties but this one seemed a bit on its own with respect to their service in the resolution process. Here is one example of an issue that didn't get resolved while we were staying in room 328. We contacted the front desk on day 2, 3 and 4 out of our 5 night stay. On day 5, our last day we didn't bother as we were acknowledged that the issue did indeed exist and someone was sent to our room to resolve the issue. We were reassured it was resolved and even sent us a card to our room acknowledging the issue had been resolved, well it had not. Despite the notification and Day 2, we advised them the issue was not resolved and Day 3 we received the card. By now we just let it be because we had expressed our concern to the front desk and asked to be moved or have a fridge moved to our room that worked. Since we were staying 5 nights we gave them every opportunity to resolve the issue to no avail. By this point we gave up and would be happy we were leaving. Why would I think that, because on our last day our room was 'missed' and not cleaned by housekeeping. Something I did mention when we checked out after the clerk asked out how our stay was, we kindly expressed our ignored concern and the fact our room wasn't cleaned despite the fact we were gone from the room from 10am to 5pm. With respect to the lobby one reception the hotel holds, it appeared like a 'forced' duty of hotel staff, in other Kimpton I've stayed at the staff interacted with guests and were friendly towards them. My experience with this group is a forced 'non interactive' be polite and smile and pour the wine and leave. The two staff members who didn't introduce themselves were nice enough but didn't go out of their scripted way to interact. Would I stay here again or recommend the property, perhaps. Depends if I can find a comparable property in the area. I'll definitely check out the W property down the street next time we head to Amsterdam. 5 out of 5 on style 5 out of 5 on location 1 out of 5 on resolution process 3 out of 5 on friendliness 4 out of 5 on comfort 5 out of 5 on sense of security 4 out of 5 on value 2 out of 5 on room design (configuration)

Yelp
Excellent front office staff! Great service in the hotel restaurant as well. Comfortable room and bed, good food, great drinks and location is centrally located. Enjoyed the complimentary tea and coffee hour in the relaxing lounge. The free wine hour is a nice touch with nice treats and beverages. We'll certainly stay here when we next visit the area.

Yelp
So, I've stayed at the Kimpton in NYC and thought it was great. The De Witt is also great. The customer service was spot on the hotel has the perfect amount of quirkiness. It modern with a touch of old world. The restaurants are great and the staff always is happy to engage. The 5-6 pm wine time is alway a plus. Everyone has the opportunity to meet in the lobby for some free wine and meet other guests. So fun to meet others from around the world. Love this brand!

Yelp
Awesome from desk and reservation support. What can I say this was the best choice I could make for myself while visiting Amsterdam during Christmas. I researched extensively where to stay and the Kimpton De Witt was centrally located to all of our excursions and near food and shopping options. The staff, the staff, the staff, knows what they are doing and provide excellent attention to detail. I honestly don't have anything bad to say, its hip, the happy hour every day was a nice touch and I was placed in a quiet room as I requested when I contacted the reservation group. This is my hotel in amsterdam.

Yelp
nice facility and convenient location. and the rooms are nice and clean. however - the whole check in process and the front desk..unorganized, unhelpful, incompetent and clueless. the key - don't try to check in before 3pm. got to the hotel at 1pm and was told it's not ready...was also reminded that their checkin time is 3pm. then was asked to come back at 3pm. came back around 2:45...say they are final checking the room and it will be ready by 3pm. ask at 3:02pm (to be safe)...was told they are just cleaning the room now. wow...get your story straight or better yet - manage your operations and customer expectations. and the kicker - 3 couples who was checking in after us...all got their rooms between 2:45-3pm. maybe it's because we booked our room through agoda...so sub-par service?! please look to improve your basic hotel operations and customs service! Want to add to my review post my stay

Yelp
Amazing hotel in an amazing city! It was the last leg of our vacation, after an exhausting packed itinerary in Cairo/Luxor it was nice come to this beautiful hotel and was upgraded as well! It was a quick 5-10 minutes walk from the Amsterdam Centraal (train station)! You can be almost anywhere in about 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The evening "WINE SOCIAL" was widely received. The room was well appointed. I have already to come back to Amsterdam and will be staying in this hotel again!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful hotel. Excellent service. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
We stayed there one night this weekend. We enjoyed everything! The hotel is clean and quiet, the beds are amazing and ver comfy, the TV is huge and recent (which is sometimes rare in hotels, even 5 stars), we loved the complimentary tea all day in the lobby with cups to go and the Happy hour: free wine (red, rose and white) from 5 to 6pm. The location is perfect! We left the car in their own secure parking for 50 euros and did everything by walking. The rooms were small, but very well equipped. Even though the room was pretty small, the bed and TV were big, which is thew most important for us. We will definitely go there again if we come back to Amsterdam!!

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel in a fantastic location. The service was good. The wine service in the evenings is a really nice touch. Our room was great for our family of four. We enjoyed the breakfast. The staff was very helpful with our baggage. It's a good spot and you know what to expect with a Kimpton hotel.

Yelp
Don't stay here if you actually want to make the most of their time during the stay... requested early check in during the reservation, arrived at 1:50 to check in- ok totally understandable that the room isn't ready wasn't mad at all was totally fine with going on with my day and returning back for normal check in. Come back at 5:10 pm, 2 HOURS LATER THAN 3 PM THE STATED CHECK IN ON THEIR WEBSITE, and my room still isn't ready. Currently writing this wasting my time as the girl at the desk can't even give me an approximation of when my room will be ready because she can't contact house keeping!!! For a hotel at this price, extremely disappointed as this managements unorginization is directly affecting my trip with the uncertainty of when my room will be ready...

Yelp
Loved it! Stayed here during king's day weekend and expected noise but it was so quiet and I slept like a baby. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good as well.
