"Why we love it: A trusted brand with local extras like complimentary bikes and a pop-up art studio Highlights: - Mid-century modern design that’s a welcome break from Southwestern kitsch - A rooftop pool and bar with sweeping city views - Kimpton standbys like nightly wine receptions and no extra charge for pets The Review: This lively Kimpton stands within walking distance of Chase Field, the US Airways Center, and the Phoenix Convention Center, as well as the 3rd Street/Washington light-rail station. Inside, mid-century modern style dominates the sleek lobby and oversize rooms, which further spoil guests with Italian linens, local art, and mountain views. If you’re feeling extravagant, book one of the 28 contemporary suites with sitting areas, Japanese soaking tubs, and glass showers. Some even have west-facing windows that frame Arizona’s vibrant sunsets. Guests here can expect Kimpton’s usual graceful touches, including a warm welcome for pets (who stay for free) and a nightly wine reception. The Palomar also offers complimentary Public Bikes, in-room Gaiam yoga mats, and access to EōS Fitness next door, as well as an on-site restaurant run by notable chef Dushyant Singh and a rooftop pool with a bar. In the lobby, there’s even a pop-up art studio and gallery, where, every six weeks, a new local artist takes up residence to bring their paintings, pottery, and more to life."

Frequent this Kimpton and am impressed with the consistent hospitality mindset of everyone from the front desk, especially Angelina. They are so welcoming and friendly, you'll feel right at home from the start. The Kimpton secret phrase will get you a lovely gift here this summer as well. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Also love the wonderful morning coffee service, very nice! Recommend their restaurant the Blue Hound Kitchen, for the many fine meals we've enjoyed there, including this stay. Thank you all for the great time!

We got upgraded to a king suite in room 535 during our stay but the bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly and toilet had stains from the previous guests. The carpet had stained spots all over as well. The pool and the rooftop bar were great. Bed was comfy

My husband and I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend. This is a very nice hotel. Rooms are spacious and very clean. The bathroom was huge and had a nice fancy walk-in shower with a tub enclosed. They have a mini bar for your convenience, but its a little pricey. Room service is also available. This is a pet friendly hotel with no pet fee. There are plenty of restaurants close by. If you ever stay here, check out the rooftop restaurant and pool. There's a CVS and Frys store close by for any personal items or groceries you may need. We were on the 5th floor where you can look out and view most of the town. There were two workers out front of the hotel that were both very friendly and helpful. The only real complaint I have is that there was no microwave in the room, and the housekeeper left no trash bags in trash cans. We bought our own. (I dont like trash piling up) Also, there is nowhere to take pets to potty. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here. We will most definitely visit again.

The valet service is beyond fantastic.|We ordered an uber that didn’t know where to pick us up and when they finally arrived the vehicle was too small to fit our party. AD who works in valet took control of the situation and ordered us a great ride and covered the cost to drive 6 of us to the airport! I have never experienced this kind of service - above and beyond!||The hotel is clean and always has fresh spa water available for guests plus a great complimentary coffee bar every morning.

Love this hotel! I stayed for work and enjoyed the comfortable and beautiful rooms and lovely rooftop pool. It also came with access to the really nice gym next door. The location is also incredible—right next to lots of food and entertainment. I missed my flight on the way home and when I came back to rebook, Rico at the front desk was incredibly kind in helping me settle back in and calm my nerves after a long day. I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone at Hotel Palomar who helped make my stay so enjoyable—every staff member was helpful and kind. I will absolutely stay here when work brings me back to make Phoenix, and I can’t recommend it enough to others.

Easy access to stadiums. Loved the rooftop bar and pool, although the pool was small, there was tons of shaded areas and seating. Loved using the full gym next door and free tix to the art museum. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Super clean. Very comfy beds. Would stay again.

Very comfortable and spacious rooms, the high floor view was awesome! Great for business travel, very close to dining options and gym with a really comfortable work area and desk chair in room. The pool is awesome and gets plenty of sun during the day. Free wine and beer happy hour for hotel guests was also a nice perk!

First timers at Kimpton of Palomar and was blown away by the level of service and cleanliness throughout the establishment. Mike (Valet), AD (Valet), Zelalum (Front Desk) and Dolores (Housekeeping) were all very accommodating throughout the duration of our stay. Extra plus, hotel is very pet friendly, our fur baby was greeted and treated like any other guest. We often stay downtown for events and we found our go to hotel. Thank you for such a great experience and stay, 10/10 highly recommend!

Yelp
Stayed one night at Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix for an event downtown, and it was a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the hotel had an amazing scent that set a welcoming tone. Our king room on the north end had great views of downtown Phoenix, making the stay even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was Eden, the rooftop bar on the 3rd floor--stunning city views, delicious cocktails, and a great atmosphere. Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails at the bar downstairs also had fantastic drinks and a great vibe. A unique perk of this hotel is the free happy hour from 5-6 PM with complimentary flatbread and wine--such a nice touch! Plus, the location is perfect, within walking distance of some of the best spots Phoenix has to offer. Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Stayed here twice before. Came back and won't be able to stay here again based on the outside noise and inability to sleep because of it. The noise at night is ridiculous. We were on the top floor and heard booming loud music every night during our four night stay. Wish they had better windows. Or an agreement with local bars. Location is great for walking downtown. Pool is lovely. Restaurant onsite site but service was hot or miss. Staff didn't really recognize IHG status. Parking is very pricey.

Yelp
Best pet amenities and policies ever -- we always try to stay at a Kimpton if there's one on our route. They even give you an info card for dog friendly restaurants and activities + best paths for a walk. If you forget something, chances are they gottt you! Huge list of items you can get from the front desk if you're in a pinch. We were in a Deluxe King room which had a great, spacious couch for our big fella. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable (as with all their properties we've visited) and the rooms are always clean + well stocked + always have fun little amenity or decor touches. Love you, Kimpton!

Yelp
Great hotel!! Morden, clean, reasonably priced, & convenient. No need to look at any other hotel when I'm looking to stay in Phoenix.

Yelp
Dexter the pool bar bartender was so on top of it! It was super busy and he never missed a beat! Thanks for making our day fun!

Yelp
The hotel was beautiful but this particular Kimpton had a few misses, but also quite a few good things too. The lobby and 2nd floor area where they served coffee and evening wine/cocktails was excellent. There were plenty of options for eating/drinking close by too. It was also convenient to the arena and Chase Field where I caught a baseball game. The pillows were the absolute WORST pillows I have ever had at any hotel, and I've stayed in some dumps! It was terrible. Stacking 2 kind of helped but I had to switch pillows multiple times throughout the night and didn't get a good nights sleep. I've been at Super 8 hotels with better pillows! For Shame, Kimpton! The electrical outlets by the bed (in the lamp) were convenient, but they were loose AF. Trying to keep my charger plugged in was difficult. I ended up charging most of my stuff at the desk area (which worked fine), but sucked for alarm time (who wants to walk across the room to snooze the alarm). Also, my mini bar wasn't full when I checked. It was unlocked. I took pics and the front desk just texted me to ask how the room was. I let them know and sent the pics. I told them I'd let them know what I took to eat/drink. The staff handled that situation wonderfully so I didn't have to pay for the missing items, however, I shouldn't have had to worry about it to begin with. Also, the one item I would have wanted (Peanut M&Ms) was missing. Grrrrrr. The staff is what kept this from being a 1 (maybe 2) star review. They were super friendly and accommodating during the stay. There wasn't much they could do about the plugs, but the rest was handled great. I forgot to ask for new pillows, so that's more on me.

Yelp
We had a great time at this hotel! Staff was wonderful - so friendly and very accommodating. The room was great - I loved the shower/bath and the bed was comfortable. The rooftop pool is a nice area to relax at. They have a lot of great amenities that the front desk took the time to tell us about in case we didn't know what was available to us.

Yelp
The Kimpton has become my go to place when I'm in the Cityscape area. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities and staff are always nice. Sometimes it's a little pricey for what you get, but you can't beat the convenience of their location!

Kyle D.

Yelp
Upon checking out i was sent with a bill for $170+ in hidden fees for "guest amenities".I reached out for more information and i was told that the fees are for things like the pool, towels, and WiFi among other things. These things are usually always included for free or in the booking price up front and is extremely misleading. This lack of transparency makes me feel tricked so i would book with them and have to pay more when i checked out and is too late.

Yelp
Kimpton Palomar Hotel was hands down one of the nicest affordable hotels I have stayed in the Phoenix Downtown area and it is within walking distance from all major sports arenas and restaurants. Another cool thing is that they offer free bike rental for those who want to explore downtown and the surrounding area. I'm definitely going to stay here again the next time I am in Phoenix!

Yelp
I have never stayed here but the Phoenix Mercury always uses the ballroom at this hotel for our X-Factor annual "kickoff the season" party. The hotel is spotless, the staff is accommodating and the elevators are cool. The audio and visual displays are a bit challenging but they always work...LOL!! I believe the food is catered it is always good although the variety is a bit average. If I ever plan on having a staycation destination this hotel will be on my short list. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, my Friends!!

Yelp
Been staying here since 2017, and last night will be my last time. Paid $800 for one night and what a rip off it was. The pillows are the size of a brick and give no support . Spring are coming through the old mattress and sheets were dingy white . It's just kinda a run down room . Everything in the room is the same since 2017.

Yelp
I love this hotel and everything that goes along with it. The local restaurants, the atmosphere, and the rooftop bar/lounge. The servers are attentive, the drinks are great, and the food is good enough for what you need with a stiff cocktail. All in all, this is a beautiful location to bring out of town guests or go for a date night. Try it out at night. Shoot at the bar. People watch. It's quite nice. See you there!

Yelp
We loved our stay here for a long weekend in Phoenix! It is perfect if you plan to hike in south Phoenix and go eat and drink north of the hotel by Roosevelt Row. The rooms were immaculate, the coffee and daily free happy hour were easy to access on the second floor, and I liked that they always had water dispensers on the first and second floor so I could fill up my water bottle before leaving. The staff were all very friendly and it was a wonderful stay. There was even a yoga mat in our room that I used to stretch after our hike! The pillows were the only downside, very flat and not much support, but I'm sure we could have asked for more or to swap them out if we had remembered. We would come back here if we came back to Phoenix!

Yelp
I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. It was literally right across the street from the concert we were going to, so you couldn't beat the convenience. It is surrounded by plenty of restaurants and bars which is great. The room and hotel itself is clean and super nice especially for how reasonably priced it is. We took advantage of the rooftop pool, although it is small, it is a vibe! The hotel also had complimentary wine tasting and bikes to ride around! Next time im in AZ, I will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
My stay at the Kempton and downtown Phoenix for two nights has been phenomenal. Everyone is so friendly, working care, and I cannot get over all of the awesome amenities that this hotel has to offer. The rooms are clean, the hallways, the rooms next door and the floor above was quiet during our stay. I can't tell you how many bad nights sleep I've had at hotels because of noisy neighbors.. I was thrilled to sleep well while staying at the Kimpton! If you want a little bit of fresh greenery in your room, they will bring a plant to your room for you, they have yoga mats, and every single room And will come let you borrow a yoga DVD so you can do yoga in your room privately. They have bikes that you can borrow so you can go explore the city, there's a social hour at night, offering free wine and alcohol with small bites, and even a coffee and tea social hour in the morning. Over the years, I have stayed at nearly all of the hotels in downtown Phoenix, and I must say this has been the best experience that I've had. We will be staying here going forward for our downtown Phoenix staycations.

Yelp
Kind of pedestrian. For the money I think there were more interesting hotels I could have stayed at. But I didn't know that until I got to Phoenix. (Even though I had tried to research on Yelp and other sites before I booked.) The staff were great.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience from beginning to end. Valet, concierge, check in, room, pool, and the list goes on. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I enjoy the Kimpton brand of IHG hotels so was looking forward to it when I found out we were staying here for a corporate trip. This location is centrally located to a lot of eateries and shops within walking distance and only a 10-15 minute Uber drive from the Phoenix airport! There is a CVS within 5 minutes if you want to get snacks, water, etc. without paying an arm and a leg at the hotel. The hotel itself is nice and modern looking, and they offer rotating things on the 2nd floor - coffee and tea in the morning, and wine & hors d'oeuvres at 5pm. The room was clean and spacious, and the shower pressure felt awesome. They don't have a gym in the hotel itself, but all guests have full access to EOS gym which is right outside their double doors on the 2nd floor and right next to the hotel (you don't even have to cross the street). This is a full on gym better than any hotel gym. I didn't get a chance to use it, but all you need to do is bring your key card and sign in on a paper log to get access to the gym. Great boutique hotel in the heart of Phoenix!

Yelp
What was a very last minute decision stay due to flight cancellations out of PHX, became one of the most luxurious stays & nights I've had in downtown Phoenix to date! The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcomed us so warmly despite are very late & last-minute check in! The room was clean, the view was great, & the shower amenities were some of my favorites!!! We will absolutely be making another trip to this Kimpton location! Special call out to Donna, who I believe is the hotel front desk manager, for helping my and my partner settle in with ease after our very hectic & chaotic night of traveling! She brings charisma, charm, and so much professionalism to the hotel!

Yelp
How have I never left a review for one of my favorite hotels downtown? I have stayed at this hotel for the past seven years on my birthday and I have not left a review? I always have a great time. The service is incredible. Customer service is incredible. Everyone is on top of their game! I feel like the atmosphere is great for the downtown vibe. I have stayed at several hotels surrounding this one specifically, and none of them compare to Kimpton! The main reason we stay here every Christmas is because around my birthday on December 13 I like to be right next to the Christmas tree overlooking CityScape from my hotel room at the Kimpton! I am pretty sure I have left a review quite a couple reviews but they're not showing up under their account so maybe they're old or they got renewed I am not sure but I know I have left reviews for this great hotel. So today I guess I will do a photo dump of every year we've come here. I think I still have them all because it's so much fun and it's my favorite hotel for Christmas because I can see the Christmas tree from my hotel room every night and I love it it's my favorite for my birthday month.!

Yelp
11-23-22/11-26-22 In my experience I favor Kimpton hotels lately. They are a chain but smaller and part boutique. It is a winning combination. We successfully stayed at one on Savannah so we booked here. The rate was incredibly low. The reasoning must be as it is in Downtown but Thanksgiving so no one in town for a game or business. The only confusion was where to get in or park unfortunately the directions got us into a parking garage that had us walking a bit with suitcases in the cold. I truly rather valet. Once inside the front desk was wonderful. Even texted to ask if we needed anything which is a nice touch. I should have investigated further as the next morning we searched a coffee shop in Downtown when we could have just stayed here. You live and learn. The complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby was terrific and special. My husband has a morning ritual so it is many cups until we get going. Therefore gave me time to go to the market in walking distance for those last minute items for Thanksgiving dinner. When we got back that night we valeted the rest of our stay. The room was modern in decor and very comfortable. I would gladly stay here next time we come to Phoenix to see my In Law's.

Yelp
One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. In Phoenix, Arizona, one of the hottest and driest places on earth, there's no drinking water available in your room. You need to buy predatory $5 water bottles because they know you have no other option besides getting dressed and going down to the lobby and filling a small plastic cup. They explicitly say that the drinking water is unsafe. I called the front desk and they assured me they'd bring up a few water bottles and after 5 hours (and calling back a few times) only brought up one. They then said they had no other water bottles in the entire hotel. I kept waking up to a dry throat/nose and had no other option but to get fully dressed and go down to the lobby and fill up little cups in the middle of the night. This isn't 4 star quality hospitality. This is more what I'd expect from an Airbnb before it gets removed from the app.

Yelp
A hotel can be so difficult to rate when it comes to how different aspects meld into the final product? Are the amenities correct for the needs of the hotel? Is it a boutique, casual, or business hotel? Are the rooms meant to be for romance or for travel? The Kimpton has done a great job of balancing things in a way where no matter what kind of traveler you are you can enjoy the many amenities and traits it has to offer. So I thought let's break down the hotel based on what's great, the challenges you face staying here, and the ugly. Challenges Let's start off with this because when traveling you want all the hard parts to be taken care of first. Most of this is outside the Kimpton's control. Currently downtown Phoenix is going through massive construction meaning lots of roads are closed, being worked on, or both. The noise can be alarming at times in the lower levels and if you're a light sleeper. Luckily most rooms are great at dampening the sounds but it can be an issue. Though lots of great restaurants are around the area if you are looking for something more casual or even fast food you're going to need to travel miles away from where you're staying to hit a McDonald's. If you have a car this isn't an issue but if you don't it definitely becomes one, especially with how expensive ride sharing is now with gas prices. Speaking of cars, it can be confusing on knowing where to park. The building itself is shared with a CityScape property of private apartments. I believe the higher levels past the 10th floor are all apartments. Because of this it can be confusing where to park. Luckily the parking structure entrance is right after the street side entrance of the hotel on Jefferson. When you park you just want to make sure you get the ticket from the dispenser and when you check in the front desk will give you a sticker that'll validate your parking so you can go in and out without costing you. Great Amenities When you walk into the property you feel like you're in an upscale hotel. The furniture is bright and modern, the decor sleek and shiny. The second floor makes up an active lobby area where unique chandeliers, open booths for groups to sit, the in house restaurant (Blue Hound Kitchen) is located here, and tea & fruit infused water is open for the taking. Sometimes there is also a pop-up art studio with goods and wares for sale on this floor. On the third floor is a great pool that is only 4 ft deep at the middle but long and wide for many people to relax. It's definitely more a pool to socialize and enjoy the views of the downtown area than any exercise. What I found to be a gem of a combo was utilizing the free gym pass to Eos Fitness (located in the building across the hotel on the second floor area) and relaxing in the pool after a vigorous workout. Stylish Rooms I found the rooms to be a mix between contemporary modern and stylized throwback. The bed side tables are a dark wood with golden hued lamps with branches as the body. The table on the side hangs short of the ceiling and illuminates with a warm yellow glow. Leather wraps around the giant king size bed along with the large lounge sofa just in front of the cityscape views coming from the window. The shower is modern although strange that it doesn't have a door to enclose the space. The sink is wide and porcelain white. Plus there is a small fridge located underneath the large 55" TV above the dresser. It's a room you can do work in but also relax. Overall I would say whether coming in for a short stay for business or a longer one for a getaway this hotel has a styling that is impressive and takes you away from the noise of the city around it. Both comfortable and slightly posh it leaves an impression that'll stay with you long after you leave. Maximize the amenities given here, enjoy the room, and if you have a car, escape away from the blistering heat of the downtown area when out and about.

Yelp
Great time, really hot summer in Phoenix but this place is cool. Front desk ask for Lyle and see the bartenders by the pool for sure.

Yelp
I always pick this hotel when in Phoenix. I believe it has seen it's best days and needs some refresh. To be fair, I got stuck with a wheelchair accessible room and that made things odd. The shower always results in water all over the floor with these rooms. Here's some examples of issues: - stains on wallpaper - water damage/swelling on door frame - bedside light doesn't work, other one is finicky - handheld shower sprays water out of the hose (leaking) - about 3" of space to hang long things like pants/dresses (this may be an accessible room thing?) - mini fridge/cooler has 6" thick of ice all over the back and it feels warm I hate that I spent so much money on this place. The location and hotel is great but the rooms have seen better days.

Yelp
Upper scale IHG hotel located in downtown Phoenix. Site is less than 5 minute walk to the arena and 10 minute walk to the baseball stadium. Site offers valet parking or self park in a garage for a fee. There is a pool on the third floor roof with a bar that is shaded in the afternoon. I was there in June with 100+ degree heat and the water was cold. Too cold!!! Cold to the point no one was in it. Facility is part of a city block of bars and restaurants. Fry's grocery store is across the street for food purchases as well. During our stay Jefferson was under construction creating traffic issues to access the site. No shuttle service was available.

Yelp
The resort experience left A LOT to be desired! We tried to lay around the pool. There were plates with leftover food on small tables from people that had been there earlier. The leftover food stank from being out in the Phoenix heat. It was gross we had to leave. We were charged for 2 days of valet when we used only 1. Never again! We don't mind paying resort fees for resort treatment.

Yelp
I arrived at 3:30 PM to check in and room was not available yet. We have platinum elite status and requested an upgrade. There was a 2 queen upgrade only. They comped some drinks while we waited. I checked in with front desk and still no room until we received a text at 5:15 PM. According to staff, there were resource issues and mini bar inventory issues. Due to the inconvenience, we requested a late checkout and were denied. We reminded them how late everything had been, and they wiggled from 12 PM checkout to 12:30 PM checkout. We should feel so blessed. Pictures attached of the run-down furniture. The Westin has an option where you pick your 24 hours. If you check in at 3 PM, you checkout at 3PM the next day. We will not be staying here again.

Yelp
Kimptons and I have a longstanding relationship when it comes to work travel... and the Phoenix Cityscape delivers on what you need for your work travel needs in a very central location. Top highlights are: 1. Right next to the arena if you need to go to any games 2. Very clean and nice staff. 3. Roof pool area that gets wifi access if you want to do some work in the sun (and yes, that's what I did) 4. Close to CVS and a few other eats/grocery stores in the area if you need to pick up any extras Overall, it's a good spot for any work travel that you have and in a central location if you're staying close to Phoenix proper on vacation.

Yelp
TOP NOTCH!!! Front Desk Guest services and suite... everyone is very accommodating and the hospitality here kept us staying 2 more nights!!! Thank you very much to Dylan, Drake, Molly, Carissa, Sarah and Angelica for making this a great New Years Stay 12/28/2023 - 01/01/2024

Yelp
My family and I stayed over the January 10th weekend and the experience was great! The hotel is very clean and the location across the street from the Footprint Center is perfect. I would really like to highlight the service that we received from Mike at the front desk though. Mike was very helpful when trying to figure out some good spots to check out after the game. He was not only extremely helpful but it was more than obvious that he really just enjoys working with people.

Yelp
a lovely place for a staycation! stayed here with a couple of my girlfriends for a birthday weekend/event at Footprint Center and it was the perfect place. Walking distance from a bunch of restaurants, bars, and Footprint Center, the hotel is in a great location. parking is in the underground garage next door which can get a little pricey, but that's Phoenix service at the front desk was awesome - we were there for a concert and the front desk girl gave us some free drink tickets to pregame at the rooftop bar with!

Yelp
Bittersweet having a nice hotel so close to everything, because it means that they don't have control of city maintenance or leaf blowers sometime before 6am. Beyond annoying from the 6th floor. In their defense, the staff said they'd asked them to move along after I got grumpy, but it's still going on at 6:30am. Everyone at the hotel has been fantastic though, and the hotel itself and rooms are really nice. UPDATE: Two nights later, another backpack leaf blower at 4am. This time it ran for about an hour. Hotel acts like they're surprised, with empty promises of stopping it a half hour ago. UPDATE-UPDATE: I guess that hour long run was them stopping cause they started up again from 6-7:30a. Will never stay here or recommend this location. From two, to one star, it's just not worth it. Also lobby smells like a sewer from their garbage being immediately below it. SIDE-THOUGHT: person looking into this should get a decibel reading inside the rooms of ambient city noise, nearby metrorail noise, and the 4a gas backpack leaf blower, because maybe this is falling on management with bad hearing that's just not understanding the severity. For such a fancy hotel, they can afford to make their windows thicker in the future.

Yelp
There are a LOT of things to like about this hotel. My wife and I have stayed here a few times before, but not in a few years, and I enjoyed this one-night stay very much. First of all, the room was ready upon arrival, which is very important to me, because it's just awkward when you have to sit around or find something to do when it's not ready. Secondly, the front desk representative (I think it was Jennifer) was excellent. She really did make me feel welcome, accommodated my higher floor request, and in my case I had booked a second room for a friend, and she got my friend on the same floor as us. This was on a Saturday night where there's a ballgame in town, too, so that was impressive. She was informative, friendly, and helpful, I liked the check-in experience. I was using IHG rewards points for this stay, and I have to say I was not treated like a second class citizen, as some hotels do when a guest uses points, or a third party site, to book. I truly felt valued. Not a corporate "we want our customers to feel valued" lip service kind of thing either, but I am serious, I really did feel like they valued me as a guest based on not only the check-in experience, but the entire stay. They have a text service for requests as some hotels do. That service only works if there are humans behind it that respond quickly and helpfully. And that was certainly the case here. They texted me shortly after I arrived in the room to see if I liked it. I thought that was a nice touch. And I DID like the room, VERY much. They put me on the top (10th) floor and the room had a great view of the mountains to the south. Now, how's THAT for treating a guest redeeming points just like fully payin guests? See? But also I had a couple of questions during the stay that were answered quickly and helpfully. And you can use the text service to check out as well. The room itself was great. Not only did it have a view, but the bed was VERY comfortable. I liked the pillows, the mattress firmness, and even the nice padded headboard. Plus the edges of the bed were padded, so even if you do happen to stumble around at night and bump your leg on the bed, you're not gonna get hurt. There's a padded bench, a sizable one, below the window. So plenty of space to sit. I liked the little round clock radio that had a circular fluorescent light on the back, because at night it acted like a night light, it reflected off the wall behind it and did not annoy me during sleeping at all, it was just the right brightness. I know, people don't get excited about clock radios but I really did think that was a cool feature. I liked the cage-style light fixture over the table, and the table itself was cool, it had like a Formica finish and a glass cover that I thought added a nostalgic touch to an otherwise modern room. TV size is very large. I didn't watch it so I can't comment on it, but the only minor drawback for a longer stay is no streaming. But I got the feeling you could bring your own streaming stick if you wanted to. Good closet space too. And the bathroom was great! I LOVED the shower, with the cool faux wood flooring, open half, great pressure, and quick to come to hot temperature. And this is key - enough racks to accommodate at LEAST two towels to hang up. So many hotels fail on this point, you have two people in a room and one of them has to settle for a spot where the towel really is not going to dry well at all. Very happy to be able to have two towel racks here. Particularly when there's no housekeeping service, although they'll bring you more towels, whatever you need, if you text them. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all affixed to the wall, conveniently. And the body wash smelled great! It's just nice when you can take a nice shower and feel refreshed on a hot summer Phoenix day. Oh and the towels are soft and fluffy and absorbent! Location is great downtown, even though we're not here for a sporting event. Several good restaurants nearby and there's even a Fry's grocery store JUST across the street! Valet guys were pretty good and self-parking seemed like it would be easy too. Door people were excellent, they opened them for us every time, with a smile and a welcoming attitude. The only area for improvement I could see is maybe add some USB ports near the beds or really anywhere. I mean, there are enough outlets to charge your devices with a power source, but I like the built-in ports. Also, I don't think I ever got a notification from the IHG app that I was able to check in or that my room was ready, even though when I arrived and used the in-person front desk, it was ready. I would definitely stay here again. Very pleasant experience. They thought of a lot of nice touches.

Yelp
Fantastic central location with various dining and entertainment options steps away. Service was excellent and we enjoyed the happy hour. I didn't get to take advantage of the amenities like the gym as we were only here for a short stay. The room was comfortable and decorated in a contemporary manner. Some negatives: I found myself waking up a few times due to noise ( my room was near the stairwell plus early morning construction) plus the clock was set forward by half an hour! Also I am sure they were clean but one of the drinking glasses had a little residue on the surface which made me wonder how much time was spent tidying up the room. In spite of some of these irritations I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
My stay at this hotel was a mix of good and bad experiences, but enough bad ones that I won't be back. Pros - When the room wasn't ready, I was able to leave my car and luggage. - My room was ready earlier than expected. - My luggage was already in my room when I got there. - Some of the staff were very kind and professional. - Being able to text for assistance was really nice. Cons - When I arrived, the valet seemed angry and was impatient. - My husband and I walked up to Trevon who was serving the complimentary wine and he just stared at us without saying a word instead of asking if we would like some wine. It was awkward and unwelcoming. - The "lazy afternoon" checkout was a huge hassle because I wasn't informed that my keycard would deactivate at noon. - Even though I paid for the late afternoon checkout at 4pm, I got locked out of the elevator and my room at noon. When I spoke to Trevon about this, he was short and unapologetic, so we checked out early. - Housekeeping walked in on my husband in his underwear even though the do not disturb sign was on the door. - Upon leaving, the valet loaded my car with my luggage, then unloaded it because he thought he put it in the wrong car (apparently it's confusing to their valets when people of color have nice cars).

Yelp
Now this is a pretty happening place. So for all the hipsters looking for upscale and central to downtown, you'll have to check it out. I am a big follower of the Kimpton Brand as I have enjoyed many a night and in each and every city, I have never been disappointed. They originated as a small boutique collection of Bill Kimpton in San Francisco and have amassed quite the collection of far more than boutique. But again each and every are a special something and I think their signature is still cocktail hour - of local wines. Try them out and see for yourself!

Yelp
We have stayed at Kimpton before, and love a smaller boutique hotel. This was a beautiful hotel, we were very comfortable & happy. Great location. Great mattress and bedding. The sofa (like throne pictured on Yelp) is an odd & uncomfortable thing though. Love how the staff texts you--anytime I had a question, I got an answer quickly, whether it was a restaurant recommendation or I do on check out. Very friendly staff. Great CoVid-safe cleaning, hand sanitizer stations and mask policy (they are requested on all shared indoor spaces).

Yelp
Finding a hotel with a rooftop pool was a must and we saw these hours on their website. Imagine our surprise to find out the pool closes at 7pm not 10pm. For what reason? I have no idea. It's not like they have to pay a lifeguard for those three hours. Literal kill joys. Room is okay, bathroom sink drains slowly and the hot water is too hot and will scald you if you turn on the hot faucet first. Citrus body wash does smell like disinfectant. Beds are comfy. Room was clean. TV doesn't have chrome cast or Apple play. Also, the floor surrounding the pool is slippery! They're going to catch a law suit eventually! I slipped and noticed another guest slip too. The floor is stone and has zero grit. They need to refinish the entire area if they care about their guests not cracking their skulls open.

Yelp
I so wanted to give 5 stars. Overall our stay was really nice. The rooms are spacious and modern. The location is amazing! We went to the pool one day and it was really nice. Great service. Parking was easy although a bit expensive. I guess the only reason I would take off a star was we weren't told about the extra $25/day fee. And I'm not being told that we weren't told that we get back $10/day in drinks. It was super annoying and who likes to miss out on using money?

Yelp
Amazing service and great daily rate for a weekend summer stay! Food was great. Service was outstanding. Pool was beautiful. Restaurants were east to get into, with good value and delicious dinner and breakfast. Front desk was extremely attentive and the property has a lot of fantastic amenities. It's kind of a mini-resort in the heart of downtown.

Yelp
Stayed here for a date night and we were not impressed. For the money you pay, so not worth this hotel. We have stayed at way nicer hotels especially downtown. A lot of outside noise that kept up til about 3am. Rooms not that big, just the bathroom and not that fancy. Beds need upgraded, not comfortable at all. Front desk not very friendly or welcoming either. Only plus is that it's walking distance to Chase Field. Not sure if we will be back.

Yelp
Parking: Shared parking with CityScape - plenty of parking spots & very easy to access from the hotel via the elevator next to Blue Hound. Make sure you follow the instructions when you check in so you don't have to pay every time you drive in and out! Staff: Front desk was SO friendly and the gentleman that was working on Thanksgiving day started our trip on a great note. He was upbeat and very helpful while checking us in. Dog-friendly: Even if it costs more, we usually always prefer to stay at a Kimpton hotel because of how dog-friendly (yet still clean and stylish) they are. No additional fees and they allow big dogs! Very important when both your dogs are over 65 lbs LOL. Room: Have only stayed once so far and really liked the layout of the room. The bathroom was sleek and large and we even had a sofa in our room, which was unexpected. Location: We were here Thanksgiving night so a lot of the shops were closed but it was still fun to walk around because the hotel is so close to Chase Field & Footprint Center. We even found a bar that let us grab a drink outside with our dogs. Final note: Don't forget to check out wine hour from 5-6pm! It was a great time to meet other travelers and the space allowed for our dogs to relax without getting in anyone's way.

Yelp
Important note to all guests ESPECIALLY with CHILDREN back home!! They won't let anyone reach you through the front desk if you stay here. My significant other was booked here for work (no longer will be a patron after this) and there was an emergency back home. Cell phone was on silent so we called the front desk. They said, we can't reach out to them, it's our privacy policy. I said I don't need to know the room they're in. Still no. Even though it's an emergency? Still no. Distraught, I hang up. I call back with an alternative- I don't need to talk to my significant other, can you call the room yourself and just tell them to call home? That's all I need. It would seem that's reasonable. They told me they would do that. NOPE. They lied. They didn't reach out to my family at all. No calling the room, no message, NOTHING. They told my significant other (when they went to the front desk after what happened) that they were upset that I hung up (after they told me multiple times they can't help me). REALLY? So either they lied when they said they would reach the room on their own, or they decided to not call because their feelings were hurt. Either way, they are wrong and they lied that they would contact my family during an emergency. Never coming back!!

Yelp
A brand new Kimpton in downtown Phoenix in the center of things sharing a sparkling high rise building with condos. We stayed for two nights in January for a mini winter break from snow and cold. We had a corner king on the 5th floor. Like other Kimptons we've visited, the Palomar has a young hip vibe with pulsing music and a young staff. There's also a nice pool on the third floor along with a poolside bar (Lustre) and a restaurant. Our room had modern furnishings but wasn't as interesting design-wise as some of their other properties we've visited in Portland or Palm Springs. this one seemed much more subdued in character. The bathroom was grand in size but surprisingly had only a single vanity (one demerit) and the shower didn't have a door, just partial glass wall so water tender to spray out into the room-I found this design shortcut slightly annoying as instead of a warm cozy delight it's more like showering in a drafty locker room. As with all the kimptons, I'm always pleased with the friendly attentive service at the front desk and valet stand. Whoever is in charge of hiring these front of house spots knows what they are doing. The front desk person commented on my notation of my wife's birthday and later, when we got back, there was a bottle of sparkling wine in the room which was thoughtful. My wife liked the bed and their were plenty of pillows too. Location-wise this would be a great spot if attending an event at one of the nearby arenas and stadiums, otherwise the here wasn't too much of note. There's a Frys (grocery) across the street and a CVS one block up which came in handy too. Bottom line, nice new hotel with a great staff.

Yelp
Its all about location location.. This hotel is literally right across the street from the Phoenox Sun stadium and down the street from Baseball stadium. The hotel itself was nice, inviting decor, staff was pleasant and accommodating. I can say I spent a lot of time relaxing on the second floor it's so peaceful. Pros - Free hotel wifi and access to EOS fitness located across the way off the 2nd floor exit Cons - Shower had only half glass barrier so when taking a shower you literally have to hump the shower head so water doesn't spray everywhere Ughhh also, as much as I love our furry pets I don't want my room to smell like one. I wish there were options for non pet rooms **shoulder shrugs**

Yelp
Have stayed here a few times over the years. I am always stoked when I see a deal for Kimpton on hotels tonight or Priceline and grab right away. I like that Kimpton Hotels have: * nice rooms * good no charge coffee service * good restaurant * good location
