Kinazi Upepo Beach Hotel

I strongly advise against choosing this hotel. During the night, someone—most likely a hotel staff member—entered my room while I was asleep, went through my belongings, and stole my money. When I woke up and screamed, he jumped out of the window to escape. The hotel forced me to go to the police station in order to process my refund, but they still haven’t returned my money.

Have stayed here twice. We love the area and the location in the middle of the beach, the breakfast and the amazing nice staff. The bungalows tho are very worn and neither the fridge nor the air conditioning worked any of the times we stayed there. Despite our repeated requests to have it fixed - we had to live without air conditioning and refrigerator for ten days. Unfortunately, we also experienced both times we stayed here that the bungalows were broken into and guests had their valuables stolen. Even while they were sleeping inside the bungalow. The owner of the place is very unfriendly towards the guests and was not very willing to help solve the theft. It certainly detracts a lot from this otherwise very beautiful place.

I recently stayed at Kinazi Upepo Hotel in Zanzibar and it was an absolute delight. The hotel is located in a beach area, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, always going out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bed was comfortable, and I slept soundly each night. The hotel also has a lovely garden area, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the island. The food at Kinazi Upepo was delicious and varied, with plenty of options to choose from. The breakfast was especially impressive, offering a wide selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and cooked dishes. Overall, I would highly recommend Kinazi Upepo Hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in Zanzibar. The stunning views, exceptional service, and top-notch amenities make it a true gem of a hotel.

Where to begin - firstly ignore the dozens of fake reviews. Air conditioning does not work, power is off half the time (and unlike pretty much all other hotels, there is no generator), curtains are so small they barely cover half the window, was given 1 stained towel (no floor mat or hand towel) for a 2 night stay, anyone can walk in from the beach and the locks are flimsy, no safe in room, Wi-Fi almost non existent, toilet leaks, pictures are fake (taken of the owners cabin), food average at best, looks like it’s been years since any maintenance. I was promised a partial refund which was never received and messages and calls have gone ignored for weeks.

AVOID AT ALL COST. WE GOT ROBBED HERE. At night 4 bungalows got robbed while people were sleeping. Stoled jewelry, phones, cameras and cash. The next day the owners didn’t do anything about it, did not even apologize. We had to go to the police station to get them to come and start an investigation, whilst the and owner was hiding in their other hotel The Nest. They had purposefully places people in villas where cameras are covered with leaves. Security guards apparently had no security training. At the end they had admitted it was an inside job after we called the ministry of tourism and police. Overall accommodation conditions are extremely worn down, not maintained well and not operational. No hot water and AC. On the other hand, their protein bar, breakfast and gym are great- the only good things about this place. The owner lives here and walks her dog in the morning while we were having breakfast by the beach. The dog pooped right in front of us and the owner didn’t clean it up. The owner lounges in the nicest places of the hotel and when it started raining, she didn’t offer us her seat which was the one with most rain coverage. Life threatening experience and a missed opportunity. The management have a great location on their hands and are running it very poorly. They scam and rob guests every few months.

The air conditioning worked during my stay. Breakfast on the oceanfront, fully vegetarian. Many types of protein shakes, which is great for the atmosphere of the place. For those who love sports, this is the No. 1 choice in Paje. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, ours was with an ocean view. The space is filled with hammocks, loungers and places to relax. We also enjoyed horseback riding - David, thank you for your complete professionalism.

My stay at Kinazi Upepo resort was nothing short of amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel right at home. The property is located right on the beach, giving me stunning views of the ocean and the chance to enjoy walks on the sand. The stables were an added bonus, with the beautiful Friesian horses being a sight to behold. The lush greenery surrounding the resort was a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city. The food served was delicious and satisfying, and I enjoyed every meal during my stay. The resort also offers various activities to keep guests entertained, such as snorkeling and diving. Overall, my experience at Kinazi Upepo was unforgettable, and I can't wait to return.

The hotel is in general nice, the location being its selling point with basic rooms but the service was terrible. There was a mis- communication with an acquaintance who thought the gym was included in her stay at their sister hotel and constantly harassed to contact her and even wanted to charge it to their actual guests. Tainted the experience and left a general bad taste. Food is decent but could be improved
