Kindall Automotive

I called Kindall Automotive on a Friday afternoon. Spoke with Billy and explained the issue. Possible water pump. He said bring it in tomorrow morning which is Saturday. I showed up, we discussed the issue and he took the keys. Mind you they close at 1. After waiting for a good while he tells me to go back Monday because they need more time for the engine to cool off. Why didn’t he say that Friday over the phone? I leave get home, check under hood and radiator cap is missing. I called immediately and Billy told me no big deal go get one from parts store. Wow. Ok. That should have been the red flag. Well I take it back. He found the issue, o’rings, ok. Repaired. Picked up truck, as I was leaving Billy said engine light might come on, something about vacuum hose. He was right. About half a mile engine light is on. Got home opened the hood and found stuff not right. Nut missing from repair, Check engine light still on. Take it back put nut on. Drive away engine light is on again. Get home opened hood and see a cracked cover with an odd nut that crossed threaded the bolt. Called Billy, his response “I don’t see what the big deal is”. Can’t make this up. He did offer to get one but I’ll get it myself. Told him the cost $50. No response.

Over the last year and a half I have had a few repairs completed at Kendall Automotive. Billy and others have been super helpful, honest, and fair with pricing. Thankful to have found a great neighborhood auto shop to get the most life out of my 2010 honda. Highly recommend!!

I stopped in to inquire about a simple oil change and tire rotation and was told to bring my vehicle back in on a Saturday morning when the shop opened. I brought the vehicle first thing and reminded the technician I was there for the oil change and tire rotation and asked that they check the brakes while the tires were being rotated. After I picked up the vehicle I was told that I couldn’t pay with a card and I would need to pay cash. After paying in cash I was never provided a receipt and when I asked about the brakes the employee stalled before responding they had “about 40% left.” This same employee told me the last time I was there about 7 months ago that they had 25-30% remaining. After returning home I noticed that the tires had not been rotated and when checking to ensure that the oil had actually been changed, noticed that someone had spilled oil over the engine bay. I also noticed that the oil had been overfilled. I was charged $130 for this service although I was charged $59 the last time I was there 7 months ago. Unfortunately, Kindall has destroyed the most important part of a business/client relationship, trust. I would recommend anyone considering using Kindall for their automotive needs to find a more reputable shop that values their customers and honesty.

WARNING: Do NOT take your car here for major repairs. They had my car here for several weeks and repair did not happen correctly and had to take it back multiple times. They then kept lying about repair issues. The car is still not running right but i will never take it here again. I do not trust this outfit.

Been going here ever since my first vehicle even after moving further away. Always gets the job done and takes care of any problems my vehicles have.

Since 02-11-2023 our vehicle has been in this shop. Our vehicle was running when the vacuum pump went out and started leaking oil we took to Kindall and it has been a total nightmare. After changing the vacuum pump Nicolas told us that it was ready and running but that we needed extra sensors (additional $600+) for the lights on the check engine to disappear , we agreed, paid and after almost 3 weeks in the shop they told us it was ready, when we picked the car up and after paying almost $1500 dls the car died a block from the shop leaving me stranded under the Highway 610 about to cause an accident , we took it back and after another 2 plus weeks same thing they told us it was ready and again left us stranded not even a mile from the shop and having to pay towing for the 3rd time to take it back at this point Daniel had spoken to the owner and agreed to fix it or reimburse us some of the money we paid, yesterday I called and the car is still not working I asked about the refund for at least half of what we spent and the answer was no that they will have to take away the parts that supposedly were installed leaving us with the same problem of a non working vehicle and no refund. Today is 03/23/2023 , almost 2 moths later and still no car , repair or refund so I am now having to file a consumer complaint with the attorney general for this matter. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT! To the owner : im not sure what is worst your service or denying this issue like is not your shop smh , unbelievable 👎🏽

This place is amazing! As a woman I can say this place is TRUSTED! I had the pleasure of working with Josh today and he really helped me out. I was really worried I would have to pay an arm and a leg to get my mirror fixed and he ended up saving me $200 in labor cost! Saved me even more because now that I get to return the part I bought. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone! Thanks again Josh! You are the best!

I'm relatively new to Houston so I don't know any auto shops, so I headed to Yelp / google to find one. Luckily for me, Kindall Automotive was first (and ultimately, the only) on my list. I had to change my license plates, but couldn't due to a rusty screw... and in doing that, I stripped the screw LOL ;__; so I needed to find someone who could help me. I came in and Daniel helped me! I was only expecting him to help me with that one screw, but he ended up changing my plates for me, even as far as putting my registration sticker on. It was such a small thing to him, but it meant so much to me. I'm sooo grateful for his kindness. In a world where many folks get taken advantage of, I know I can trust Kindall Automotive with my car repairs. Def will be recommending this shop to my friends!

Sincere, knowledgeable mechanics working here at all times. I appreciate the explanation and care the tech took to help us out with an issue at no charge. He even requested we return to confirm the issue is resolved. Will definitely return for my car care needs over any dealership.

I've come here twice now for an oil change since moving to this side of town. They are friendly and fairly quick I don't think I've waited more than about 30 minutes both times. They value their customers and I've seen first hand as a gentleman came in and brought pizza for one of the workers who helped with his tune up the other week. He praised the business and said he told his whole neighborhood to come visit Kindall Automotive. It was great to witness. Come in for your automotive needs!

Absolutely amazing customer service! Great work! When I called initially the gentleman I spoke with was very attentive and provided me with all the details and information I would need. He treated me with respect which prompted me to go ahead and make an appointment. The price was very affordable! I am glad to say I have finally found a mechanic that I can trust! Daniel and his team provided excellent service. Instead of blindly following the dealership's recommendation for a brake job, Daniel inspected my car and found that my brake pads still had over 50% of their life left. He didn't charge me for the inspection. I will definitely make them my go-to mechanics from now on!

Can't recommend these guys enough. I have regularly gone to Kindall for repairs and inspections, and have always left with the impression that they are hard-working and honest. Right before writing this, they patched a piece of plastic that had come loose and was dragging on the bottom of my car and sent me off without requesting payment. If a repair is counter-productively expensive, they'll let you know. They are definitely mechanics you can trust.

Was searching for a place to get my car inspected. Stumbled upon this place during my search. The guys working there were super friendly, and were able to get my car in and out in about 30 minutes or less. Waiting room was comfortable, which is a plus because I had my two kids with me that day. Appreciate the quick and efficient service, I will be back for next year's inspection!

This place is great! They are prompt for appointments, have a clean waiting area, fair pricing and are happy to explain the issues to be addressed. As a younger female, going to the auto repair shop can feel like a struggle, but I have never felt as though they've treated me any differently. In the event that service needs to be done elsewhere (body work, make-specific, etc), they have recommendations at hand, which increases my trust in them. Couldn't recommend them more!

My experience was very quick! Was greeted by a polite staff member who directed me to the car inspector. My car inspection was maybe 10-15minutes max (honestly felt much less) and I was off on my way. The interior was very spacious with water and coffee available. I was the only person in the waiting area at the time but i saw employees wear their masks and felt safe and reassured in this experience. Will definitely come back here for future needs!

Excellent service, highly recommended They're staff is really nice. They are efficient and their services is one of the best in the hole heights area. They also give you water and coffee on they waiting room.

Kindall is my new 'go-to' place for repairs and maintenance on my BMW X5. I took it in for an oil change and brake pad replacement and they not only did those at a reasonable price, but they also got my a/c and external USB connection working. It may have only been some settings that needed adjustment, but I couldn't figure out how to reset them. I didn't even mention to them that I was having problems, so imagine my surprise when I got the car back and both were working properly! I've never had any shop go above and beyond like this. Wish I had found them long ago!

Poor customer service. Called to try to setup a appointment to repair my ac for my car. Wanted to see if there was any evaluation fee. They would just tell me they will tell me when I arrive instead of allowing me to be prepared for any fees. Not worth a second look.

Just used for first time, ac relay switch replacement. Had other questions about service. All answered and not to make business for themselves. They gave me the options and said what they would do if them. I really like having a place I can have my 14 F150 serviced that I can trust. I found them through other reviews and had similar experience. My go to shop.

I've been being my car to Kindall the last 2 years. They take appointments and would recommend giving them a try. The last repair they did in my car was fixing an oil leak and brakes all the way around. I got my car back in 2 days because they had to wait on parts, because I'm working remotely I really didn't need my car anyway so that wasn't an issue for me. Very satisfied customer.

Super quick and easy in and out in like 15 minutes for an inspection. Very friendly and could tell they had nice conversations with other clients as well.

I used to live in the Heights My neighbor told me about this place years ago and ironically my Jeep broke down several blocks from them. I found out for myself how great this place is. They fixed the rod holding up the hood with out asking. That is TRUE car care in my book Affordable and friendly service Awesome Job

This place is great! I took my car here today because Master Car Care down the street told me my front struts needed to be replaced, and I wanted to get a second opinion. Daniel had a look at it and lo and behold, nothing is wrong with my struts! This place saved me from being ripped off and buying something I didn't need, and I appreciate how attentive and kind both the guys I talked to were, Daniel was explaining to me how to check when the struts/mounts are bad and he even aired my tires and did the whole diagnostic for no charge. When I actually need new struts or any work really I will definitely be back here. I really appreciate y'alls help and I would recommend this place to anyone!! :-)

Very disappointed with the work that was done on my car. Don't appreciate that someone was allowed to experiment with my car, as that is what appears was done. Nick is super nice and kindly refunded me the money that it cost me to take it to repair the damage his guy did. But the fact that this mechanic was allowed to damage my car further was ridiculous. He should have refunded me the labor costs...without me asking. I originally went in for CV axle replacement. Because the passenger side front axle is longer (attaches to an intermediate axle) there is a locking clip or "C" clip.). The idiot didn't attach the axle to the intermediate axle with the clip in the proper position, therefore distorting and destroying the clip. After driving to Dallas and having to go on a Sunday to pep boys because the axle came off...they reattached and we did make it home to Houston. They tried the second time. (Said that the axle was faulty...LOL). Nope. They let the same mechanic put the second one one. Same thing. the freaking axle came off again!! Third time Nick said that he would put it on himself. And it came off again. Never was a faulty axle. Was the idiot screwing up the clip. Had to take it to another shop in Houston for them to tell me that it will not attach since the C clip was damaged. So we had to purchase and intermediate axle with an original C clip. (Clips cannot be purchased). Like I said. Nick did reimburse me for he money I spent...hence the one star. But this mechanic needs to find other work and Nick should not employee him. I am sad that he allowed him to work and experiment on my car. Another note... their driveway is screwed up. Be aware. There is a fire hydrant in the MIDDLE of the driveway, down a slight incline. If your vehicle is taller, like mine, and there are cars parked near this, you may not see it. You sure as heck cannot see the orange cone that sits in front of it since it is SHORTER than the damn hydrant. (See pics) I bumped it. Not knowing what I "slightly" bumped, I put my car in reverse. The side of the hydrant had a hold on my fender and ripped a hole in it as I backed up. And then ripped off my bumper or at least ripped the clamps off that hold it on. Needless to say, I hate this place. Now I need to repair the lower have of my bumper. I SHOULS NEVER HAD TO BE AT THIS DAMN PLACE A THIRD TIME FOR THE SAME WORK. I BLAME THEM. Put a flag up or something. Lol. And he told me after I hit it that someone had hit it the other day. ...and they haven't done anything about it?! Makes me sick.

After part of my bumper came loose after i bumped into a pole backing out I rolled into kindall right as they were closing. He said he would at least take a look and although a full repair requires a body shop which they are not he put a temporary fix on the bumper so that the piece wouldn't because looser or fall off while driving. He didn't charge me anything! Will be returning for future auto repairs for sure!

How often do you hear someone say they love their mechanic? I mostly hear complaints but I do! I brought my car in for all new struts and shocks. A short while later I brought it in to have my battery changed and was told one of my new shocks had blown. Thank you for the honesty because I had no idea. They were guaranteed for one year and I was well within that limit. They replaced it for free according to our agreement. Yesterday I stopped in without an appointment because all of my break lights came on. I was hoping I just needed break fluid which was the case. That my car is 9 years old and paid for I try to keep it in good condition. I asked if I could bring it back to have the break pads assessed for how much wear is left on them which I will do. I know they will be honest with me. When I go in for an oil change or to get the yearly state inspection they are always timely. This business is a well oiled machine (pardon the pun!) but it's true! I give them my highest recommendation.

Very honest shop! No BS... this is what a customer needs to make a proper decision wether is good or bad. I will be a customer again.

I was very happy with my experience here. My check engine and oil light were both on.. I thought it would cost me $$$ so I avoided taking it in forever. Dropped by today and turns out I was just severely in need of oil. They fixed me up and got it running like a charm again. One star knocked off for them not calling me all day to let me know a diagnosis. Dropped off at 8:30 and then I had to call them at 3pm to check status..plus it took a couple calls to get ahold of them and the voicemail is full so don't expect to leave a message or get a call back. Nice, trustworthy mechanics. I'll be back.

My first experience using this shop. I WILL NEVER GO TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC. Nick, the owner, is extremely helpful and they have been straightforward and honest with me every step of the way. Had to have an EGR system flush and an intake hose repaired, inn order to get my car inspected. They found the most affordable way to help me and have taken the time to educate me and work with everything I needed. I will be sending everyone I know here from now on. Use this place!

Kindall Automotive is the freaking BOMB diggity. :) Nick and Rey kick so much butt it's unreal. These guys are not only smart and knowledgeable as you-know-what, but they are also so HONEST and personable! They will tell you what's going on in straight talk and will not mess you around or take advantage of you. How incredibly refreshing. :) Here's a little back story: The reason we first went to this shop is because it is literally down the street, walking distance, from my house. We race cars (circle track) in a class called Eco Stock. Eco Stock cars are basically regular street cars (think Chevy Malibu, Honda Accord, etc) that are gutted, roll caged, and driven fast in a circle with other cars. Since our cars are not street legal (no lights, windows, mirrors, etc), we wanted to take them to get worked on at a place that we wouldn't have to tow them to. A place we could drive the Eco a short distance to. So we went to Kindall. After seeing how amazingly they did with our race cars, how healthy they made them, how much they cared, and how passionate they are about their work, we are hooked. I've never been to an auto service place like Kindall. They are usually pretty busy, but Nick runs an amazing business and definitely has the right people working with him. They get stuff done. Now we take our regular cars there as well and I wouldn't have anyone else work on ANY of our cars. Whether it's an oil change or a major repair, we are DEFINITELY proud to call Kindall our automotive shop. If you're in the Heights and are looking for a high quality, honest shop to take your car to, go check 'em out.. I promise you, you won't be sorry you did. :)

I just moved here from Minnesota and being hesitant about who to go to and not get ripped off... I decided to go with Kindall Automotive because of their high ratings and fair pricing. Nick and his crew were VERY helpful and honest and in finding the EVAP leak from my check engine light that kept coming on. Now, I am able to pass the inspection and get my plates & tag. I will also say... This place is the most clean and organized automotive place I have ever been to!! I WILL be coming back!

Great customer service. I made an appointment to have a used car checked out. I was late but they were still able to accommodate and help me. You can tell these guys are honest and upfront by the way they treat their customers. I will definitely come back to have my car serviced here.

I took my car in to Kindall Automotive after having a horrible experience elsewhere. The Yelp reviews seemed to good to be true, but I figured might as well give it a try. Thank goodness I did!! The staff were very helpful, super attentive, specific to my vehicles needs, and efficient. I dropped off my car before work and picked it up right after. My car actually feels smoother now then before when it started to break down which was quite a nice surprise. I highly recommend bringing your car here if you need your car serviced.

I was a loyal customer for at least 3 years. I never had a problem until they brought a secondary person in to work with customers. I had even purchased a vehicle from them. One of my vehicles started having electrical issues. I brought it to them to diagnose and repair on 2 occasions. The first time they said it was a burned out light bulb and they said they replaced the bulb and all was good. I also got A State Inspection done that day. That evening I was pulled over by League City Police Department for having no rear running lights. I showed the police my receipt and they let me go with a warning and told me to get the issue taken care of. I took the vehicle back and 3 days later they informed me the issue was beyond the scope of their expertise. I had to wait a month untill I had enough money to take the vehicle to a electrical specialist on a Friday morning. That specialist called me less than 3 hours later letting me know the issue was fixed. The problem - a burnt it fuse and a loose connector in where that fuse plugged into the fuse box. Cost diagnose and repair $121. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Having owned my own auto repair shop for 30yrs I recommend Kindall to all my friends. Nick is a great guy,Ray has been a great programming my blue tooth phone. They r thoughtful, professional and great prices

We found Kendall's to be always be honest and fair in the work they've done and we've been going for about ten years, would & do definitely recommend.

I have been looking for a place to take my car. It is so hard to find a place that is honest and doesn't over charge. If you live in the Heights or nearby this is the place to go to. They are so nice and honest. Before they started the work they called me told what was wrong and told me the exact price. I can't say emnough about them.

Nick is absolutely the best. I had a bit of a project on my hands with my '99 Jeep Wrangler. Needed a lot of work and Nick and his team took excellent care of it. He worked with my schedule and my budget, even after encountering problem after problem. There is no way my Jeep would be running right now w/o his expertise. No matter how big or small your issue is, Nick can handle it. I won't be going anywhere else! - Wil

Highly recommend. This is neighborhood-type place my dad recommended turned out great for me and my TSX. Took me to work down the street since i didn't have a ride, always appreciate that too.

This place is HONEST! Wow! So refreshing. I have had the worst luck with auto shops that take advantage of me or never really fix the problem. I usually end up paying a much larger bill than expected and have more work done than I had anticipated. Love this shop! Nick (the owner) tells it like it is and doesn't try to give you a run for your money. Last time I took my car in I was worried it had a leak. He detected no leak, but put some dye and said next time he will know for sure. Took it back this week (5000 miles later). Ready for another oil change. I ask him to rotate my tires if he thinks I need it. He remembered about the possible leak! He checked it out-no leak! Said tires look good for now, but may need to be rotated at the next oil change! He tells me he knows someone who can fix the inner pannels of my car where the leather has peeled away (Escape's have a problem with that) from both front door pannels- for $125. Pretty cheap! But, I told him I was probably gonna just paint it b/c I don't really care about perfection. And, I think hot pick pannels could be fun. He said, that's a bad idea b/c the insulation absorbs the paint and then it deteriorates! Good to know. $25 later, I got a lot of info and an oil change I can count on! I have also gotten many other repairs done at this shop. It never costs me a lot, and my car seems to run great afterwards! They are very knowledgeable, relatable, quick, efficient, friendly, and super honest mechanics. I wish it weren't so hard to find these kinds of places, but I don't have to worry about it anymore. Kindall's is my spot! Highly recommend you check it out! In my opinion, if you live in the Heights- there is no need to go anywhere else for your car maintenance and repairs!

This place is great. I have recently moved from a small town where you use to the same car repair place that your family used, that's it. I have had Kindall Automotive perform two repairs on my car, the first repair was minor, but they did it for HALF the cost that two other repair places in the Heights quoted, HALF. When the my A/C went out in my car I got an estimate from another repair shop near work before going to Kindall and they quoted $500 higher before tax than Kindall did the whole repair for, in half the time the other guys quoted. So what I am getting at is HALF the price and HALF the time. Needless to say they will always do my car repair. It does require mentioning that the staff at Kindall is all really great people also, on top of the good work for a good price, efficiently. By the way this is the same review I put on google.

So hard to find a mechanic you can trust. Turnaround can be slow but I don't mind waiting when I know I'm not getting jacked and the job will be done right. Nick and his crew are excellent trustworthy mechanics. Highly highly recommended from a continually satisfied customer.
