We had been here last year for a good evening meal, and returned during a weekday at lunchtime with the kids. It's a very large inn in a lovely location, with a historic feel to it. We ate in the dining area which was relatively quiet on this occasion (April, outside of Welsh school holidays). There is a fairly extensive menu featuring a good selection of fresh fish. There is also a children's menu, reasonably priced at around £4 a head. The kids chose chicken nuggets (I love these, mum!), jumbo fish fingers (just one on the plate not jumbo enough for our 8 and 7 year olds, but good to eat) and pasta in a tomato sauce (a very generous portion which, nevertheless, was completely polished off by the 3 year old despite no accompanying grated cheese). We adults went for the Welsh rump steak and the home-made steak and mushroom pie. The pie was flavoursome although it did come with the ubiquitous cut-to-fit puff pastry lid. The steak was fine, although I had asked for it to be cooked rare and it arrived medium-well done instead. The veg were pedestrian. The kids eschewed their ice-cream menu option so home-made brownies were ordered all round (served with ice-cream; cream; custard). These were delicious although it was not advertised that they were studded with walnuts which the children were not keen on. Never mind; we got to eat up all their leftovers.
