Google
Picked this hotel for its location and reviews. Was not disappointed in the least. Very comfortable rooms and immaculately clean. Could not ask for a more comfortable stay. Even the air conditioner filter was clean. The owner takes great pride in keeping this property in tip top shape. The beds were very comfortable as well. And as an added bonus you can have freshly baked cookies in the evening! Overall probably the best property I've ever stayed at in the Ocean City area.

Our first of many visits! Absolutely charming hotel and staff, great housekeeper. Fresh baked treats every evening. Very close to beach, could hear it as we sipped coffee on the welcoming, cozy porch. Very clean and quiet and secure. This place salvaged our long-awaited vacation, as we had to flee Hurricane Debby's wrath at our original destination. So thankful we found a new favorite!

I absolutely loved staying here. The owners were the nicest people. Very clean. Baked goods in the morning with coffee available. Will definitely stay there again.

Just a block from the beach, King Charles Hotel is well located, a great price with comfortable rooms. The staff is very kind and accommodating. I visit Ocean City every year or two and this is where I enjoy staying. Looking forward to my next trip back!

Google
Good stay overall! This hotel is in a really good spot to go to the board walk or catch the bus. It made happy hours easy. They have a parking spot reserved for you, so you don't need to worry about that. The staff is very kind and accommodating, and the owner bakes various pastries nightly, which is a nice touch. The room itself was a bit outdated, but it gets the job done, so it's worth the money. Overall, a great stay, I give the King Charles Hotel a 4.4 out of 5.

It was a surprise that it was so good for the price we stayed here just one night but we will definitely come back excellent location very close walking to the beach and all the fun and the price the best part. the staff was super friendly.

Absolutely awesome place. We stayed here for the Ocean's Calling Music Festival. The staff were very kind and accommodating during our stay. There is coffee available all day and also they bake cookies and brownies for the guests. Something exceptional is how clean everything is. We would stay again!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 2 days and loved every second of it! Their check-in time was between 3:00 - 10:00 PM, but I knew we would arrive at 10:30, so I called them. The lovely owner, Marie, accommodated us and stated not to worry about getting there before 10 PM. Marie said don't rush and risk getting into an accident to arrive on time which I appreciated. We made our reservation directly from their website and paid a deposit of half the stay. We received a call to confirm all the details a few minutes later. We arrived around 10:30 PM, and Marie, the owner, was already there waiting for us! She explained a few policies and amenities and quickly checked us into our room. The overnight security guard introduced himself to us and told us to let him know if we needed anything. The overall vibes were just comforting and cozy. This place is geared towards being more quiet, so if you're planning on blasting music and being loud, there may be a better place for you! The hotel has an older feel, but that didn't bother my boyfriend and me at all (we are in our early 20s). They let us borrow beach towels, you can buy a bag of ice for $3.50, and baked goods are served at 7 PM. The brownies were SO GOOD. I wanted the whole batch. Since this hotel is smaller, there is really no room service or anything like that. But housekeeping comes daily to change towels and make the bed. The hotel is only a 5-minute from the boardwalk, which was so convenient! They also give recommendations on where to go during your stay :) A few hours after we checked out (11 AM), I received a 'Thank You' ecard from the hotel, which warmed my heart! We will continue to stay here every year we go to Ocean City!

Yelp
Super clean and well maintained. Yes it is an older hotel. Three floors and no elevator so not for anyone with a handicap. But ask. They may be able to accommodate you on the first floor. Still has a few steps tho, so not wheelchair accessible that I saw. No pool. No gym. No meeting rooms. Our room had a bathtub and shower. Some have only showers. Quiet except for the occasional 4 wheel boom boxes on the street. Very friendly and helpful staff. Never used the TV. Window AC worked fine plus with a ceiling fan it was extra cool. Microwave and fridge in the room. The only down side was walking up the stairs to the third floor, but I needed the exercise anyway.

Yelp
Third time staying here. The owner is the nicest and most pleasant person ever. I asked if they had an ice machine and she said I have 1/2 bag I don't need you can have mine. She was up early every morning washi g and drying sheets. The room was spotless and very clean. I feels like a B&B without the breakfast but she has hot fresh coffee every morning and fresh baked cookies at night. Very quiet, the front porch is gorgeous and NO RIFT RAFT AT ALL. can't wait to stay again. Try it once, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I started staying here in the mid '70s. Always a pleasant staff and stay. A small jewel of yesteryear that will never grow old. Thanks for the memories!

Yelp
From now on the King Charles Hotel will be the hotel we stay at in Ocean City. It's perfectly located just one street back from the boardwalk. There's no noise or loud or wild people around this area. The hotel is Victorian. The lady that owns it bakes every night and has cupcakes and baked goods out for everybody. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful.

Yelp
This was our second time staying here. The room was clean and perfectly located. The owner was friendly and present. The price was very reasonable to for the location. It's literally a 2 minute walk to the beach/boardwalk. Our room had a balcony which was nice for people watching. Would return in the future.

Yelp
First of all - ignore the two star review. My boyfriend has stayed here about six times, and has had no complaints or issues. This was my second stay at the King Charles hotel, and it is my first choice of where to stay in OC. -extremely clean. Consistently cleaner than other hotels I have stayed in. Zero complaints there -yes, it is old fashioned. If you want fancy electronic locks - 1. Check your priorities and 2. Don't knock the place for having a normal key! Sorry if your house has a fingerprint scanner, but the rest of us are fine with keys. -it always smells nice! -amazing location just 2 blocks from the beach, and from a lively section of the boardwalk -owner is really friendly and bakes brownies sometimes yum! -free coffee in the morning -tv with cable -never had any noise issues -free parking with permit Overall, what's important to me is : a comfortable, CLEAN, friendly hotel in a good location. King Charles hits all of those marks and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Kings Charles Hotel was a recommendation from a frequent returning customer. It was comfortable and clean. It's a far cry from the big chain hotels and I mean that in the best way. The personnel was friendly and willing to accommodate. Parking was available for its guests. The proximity is one block from the beach. Call ahead to secure a room. I will definitely return.

Yelp
My family and I stayed here recently and we thought it was just alright. Our room was quite small but cozy, and clean. Some of the staff members were very friendly and welcoming, and some seemed irritated when asked for help. The location is great because it's very near the beach and the boardwalk. Parking is spacious within your zone, but personally I recommend the hotel not to have our hotel room number written for the public to see regardless of us needing a key to enter. There's wifi! However, this place was a bit old fashioned. We used a regular key (not those electronics door locks) to get into the hotel and into our room; a different concept than most hotels and is tolerable. It made me feel at home but I question if everyone have the same key!!... The bathroom lacks some simple hooks, and I don't remember if there was a bath ventilation fan. Another bathroom no-no for me was there was a point where we didn't have hot water. Maybe it's me? but I never experienced not having hot water. One final most disappointing factor: no iron. Overall, this hotel is very peaceful and cozy, and is located very close to the beach. I would recommend this place to low-maintenance guests.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here one night. Room was very cozy and at home. It had a hint of a baby powder smell to the room but it was tolerable. I'm big on clean bathrooms and the bathroom was spotless. Very clean place. Keys are regular house keys. It is an all wood building so sound travels just a little but it was not noisy at all. It is a walk-up so if you can't do stairs, go elsewhere. Marie was very friendly and attentive. I called after booking on booking.com (about a week prior to our stay), our reservation wasn't confirmed but she quickly smoothed that out for me. She called me two days before to confirm the reservation and get the ok to process the charge. They ask what type of vehicle you'll be driving so they know what cars will be in their lot. It is a small lot of I believe only 7? spots. As long as you get your parking permit, you will always have a spot. If someone is in the lot that does not have a permit they will have the car towed. When we arrived, she asked the name and promptly checked us in. They do have a pup there (super sweet). When we walked in we smelled brownies. They set them out in a cake display for the guests. It was a homey touch. I cannot stress how sweet the staff was. Boyfriend and I have agreed we would definitely stay again.

Yelp
We have been staying here every year for 8 or 9 years. It's quite and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I have never had one issue staying here. Usually it's a trip once a year but some times, if we're feeling froggy, we'll make it a two trip year. The management always finds a way to fit us is. It is very reasonably priced as well. It is extremely close to the boardwalk/beach. All that you have to do is cross the street and a parking lot and BAM BOARDWALK.

Yelp
We stayed at the King Charles Hotel the last week if July (2012) and it was an enjoyable stay. Their rates were very competitive for their location (just before 13th st) one block from the boardwalk. A smaller establishment, much more in the vane of a bed and breakfast, the Charles features a family-friendly atmosphere. Young party people need not apply. Our room, though small and with the barest of amenities, may have been the cleanest room I've stayed in in all my years of O.C. vacationing. The staff was extremely personable and polite and even provided home baked cookies and brownies both nights! Additionally, if security is a concern, doors are locked at 11pm, with guests' room keys allowing entry in the rear, and a security person is placed in the lobby. (I think his name was Bobby???) All in all, a pleasant stay for those looking for a modest and peaceful stay.

Yelp
Stayed there 8/19/16. The owner and staff are super nice! Very helpful!! Owner bakes cookies at night! Yum!! Hotel was immaculate! Yes, immaculate! Would highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
I booked a room last minute to get away for the weekend. I was traveling alone, but I really liked that they state on their website that they strive for a family atmosphere and will not tolerate rowdy behavior. I like that because when I go back to the hotel I want it to be quiet so I can relax and sleep. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The owner baked cookies for the guests on Saturday evening and they have complimentary coffee. They will even loan you beach towels free of charge if you need one. I had arrived quite a bit early and was checking to see if they would allow me to park in one of their spots, and they did me one better... they let me check in early so I could get settled and enjoy my time at the beach. It's customer service like this that will keep me coming back to this hotel for future Ocean City trips. The rooms were very clean. The bed was comfortable and I saw them doing the laundry (including washing the comforters) when I arrived so I didn't worry about bugs and other things that you might need a blacklight for. The refrigerator and microwave were both also clean. The bathroom had plenty of towels and soap (no shampoo, but they may have some at the front desk if you ask). The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. My room had a TV mounted on the wall with cable tv. I didn't notice if they offered pay-per-view, but I wasn't watching a lot of TV during my stay. There were also plenty of electrical outlets and a power strip, so charging your phone/devices at the end of the day was very easy. My only concern with the room was that the door to my room needs some adjusting because it rubs against the frame and thus slams when you pull it shut. I was worried that my door was going to disturb others. There are no elevators, so if you can't do stairs then see if they have a ground floor room. I can't stress how happy I was that the free WiFi had a fast strong signal (even on the 3rd floor). It's unfortunate that so many places advertise free WiFi, but when you connect it is painfully slow and unusable... not this place! Very pleased! On a similar note, I noticed that Comcast XFINITY WiFi throughout much of Ocean City was quite good. The hotel is half a block from the boardwalk/beach, and is very close to Brass Balls Saloon, to give you a point of reference. The rates were significantly better than any of the big name hotels in the area. I look forward to returning!

Yelp
My fiance and I stayed here for three nights during peak season in July. The rates were very reasonable, the room was small but clean, and the location was just right (a very short block from the boardwalk and beach). There's a small front porch for guests to sit on and relax which was nice at night. The building is also very secure. You get an actual key that locks not only your room but the door to the entire floor so there's really no access unles you're staying there. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and I would suggest bringing your own pillows but all in all staying there was just fine!

Yelp
THE best hotel I have stayed in while on vacay in Ocean City. They helped us get a room after 10pm while booked solid. Thankfully they had a cancellation for a room, as we desperately needed a hotel. (We had no plans on staying at the beach, just a day trip with a toddler) They provide security at night, and front desk personal during the day, security cameras covering the premises, and private parking with cameras facing your vehicles. I have never felt so safe staying in a hotel. The owners treated us as family in a friendly environment. One of the owners actually came outside, and helped us carry our bags inside!l. And didnt stop until we were fully unloaded. Beautiful front porch to sit on, full of flowers. Private back deck that faces your vehicles and, one of my favorite parts, a pizza shop! (So here's the best part) they offer fresh, complementary brownies or cookies at the front desk 24/7!!!! The hospitality was amazing, the rooms were beautiful, clean & cool. And the shower we had our bathroom was ADORABLE. We felt safe & secure during our stay. We also loved it so much, we decided to stay a second night. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, secure, family oriented hotel. With only a 2 minute walk to the beach!

Yelp
I went up to OC two weeks ago to celebrate my birthday and get away from reality for a moment, however this was no relaxing getaway, I would have been much better off staying home just so I could sleep at night. I got absolutely NO SLEEP staying here. First off, it looks like a house and the halls were narrow and creepy and the staircase gave me goosebumps. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows one per person, were super thin and felt about as good as a floor would feel. The AC unit blows extremely loud and shut on and off the entire night. To top it off, I had to listen to doors opening and slamming shut ALL NIGHT!!. I could even hear the housekeeping guy have to knock on poeples door and say "visiting hours are over". As I was checking out the next morning, the owner said to me "I heard you weren't happy last night" I told her my kid and I were not able to sleep all night due to the doors slamming all night long and no extra pillows or blankets. She suggested I stay at a Hilton the next time I venture out- this place was no where near what a hotel or even a motel offers. $200 for one night! decent price for the location, yet Id recommend sleeping in your car then trying to stay here. I will say the gentlemen working at the front desk was very polite. Oh and the shower was OF COURSE clogged. I only stayed one night

Adam K.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and great location. Rooms were cleaner than I could have expected for the beach, not to mention the price was great. We booked last minute for the July 4th holiday week and couldn't have been happier with our choice (well, a pool would have been even better!). I will likely stay again, it was that good.

Yelp
Call it the LITTLE BEACH HOTEL THAT COULD...AND DOES. Stayed there on two different occasions this season, and proved consistently warm & wonderful. All the amenities you could possibly want in a beach hotel -- clean and comfortable, with porch rockers to watch how the rest of the beach crowd scurries or motors about while you just perch & drink your wine and/or diddle your I-gizmo. Hostess Marie makes sure your every getaway need is met (we forgot eating utensils and, voila, we asked & they appeared from the magic cabinet behind the check-in counter). If you're the type that's missing a pool, well, hey, there's a whole ocean, just as wet and wild as the concrete kind, a few hundred yards away. (Anyway, you can pool-it @ home. That thing with waves is why ya go to the beach!) Finally, this superb establishment seems to attract like-minded serene, glad-to-be-here, cozy/comfort types, who will greet you as you rock on the porch, or draw up their own chair to read a book or sip coffee @ dawn.
