King Fern Cottage

If you want to visit Nuwara Eliya, come to King Fern. It’s an amazing place! The owner, manager, and staff are really nice and friendly. They have live music and serve delicious food. The accommodations are up to the standards of luxury hotels. Thank you so much highly recommended! You should definitely visit this little piece of heaven.

Wonderful atmosphere with incredibly welcoming people. The food is excellent and served all day, and the setting is perfect for enjoying a beer after a day of hiking. If you're feeling a bit chilly, they’ll gladly light a fire for you. You might even get the chance to meet the best pool player in Nuwara Eliya! They also offer great support in arranging a reliable driver for day trips. Highly recommended for a cozy and enjoyable experience!

The King Fern Cottage is a great place to stay - the location is easy walking distance from the centre of town, is positioned over looking the golf course - super quiet and has a wonderful ambience with it's spacious dining room and lush green outlook. The rooms are spacious, the rooms do need refreshing. ||Special shout out Lal for his exceptional communication - prior to our arrival and during our stay. Lal went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay.

😊: Incredibly friendly and heartwarming staff. I felt completely at ease at all times. Both breakfast and dinner were very tasty and plentiful. In the evening you could enjoy live music by the fireplace. The complex is designed with great attention to detail. Great value for money and absolutely recommendable.. 😢: The bed was a bit worn but otherwise everything was great.

This place was one of my favourite travel experiences anywhere in the world. ||Beautiful setting, great rooms, top shelf food and the owner and staff are incredible. They can’t do enough for you and have the warmest smiles.||The highlight tho was the music show downstairs after dinner. The owner is a brilliant muso, and he and his band were super impressive. ||It all made for a memorable experience that we’ll be raving about for years.||If you like creativity and unique experiences check this place out.

King Cottage is truly a gem in this town. Lal, the host, made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. He was incredibly helpful and one of the friendliest people you'll meet. As soon as you step into the guesthouse, you can sense the owner’s creative touch—he's a singer, and it shows. The dining room offers a breathtaking view of the golf course. The food is delicious, and the room is cozy with a warm shower and comfortable blankets. We also had a great time playing some pool with the chef. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Loved this place. The venue is unique, rainforest style. The owner is an incredible musician (think Sri Lankan Bob Marley!) and has set up an event space out the back where his band puts on a reggae gig each night (lights, smoke machine, pumping speakers etc.). It’s a vibe!||Food was incredible. Had the Chicken Kottu for dinner and curry and rice for lunch.||We used their Tuk Tuk driver to get to and from the train, as well as to take us to Horton’s Plains for the Worlds End walk. Left early and stopped in the perfect spot to watch the sunrise on the way. ||The staff here were so helpful and eager to please. Highly recommend, especially if you are after something a little unique to add a story to your holiday!

Loved this unique place! The food was excellent. We had the Chicken Kattu - delicious! After dinner, the owner puts on a music gig down in the event space (it’s set up for bands, with lights, smoke machine and all the bits). He’s a reggae style musician and loves performing to anyone who wants to come for the vibes. And vibes there were! Warm fire in the dining area. Comfy beds. Short walk to town.
