King Kong Hostel - Bar Rotterdam

I had the pleasure of staying at the hostel recently, and one of the highlights of my experience was the incredible service provided by Blanca at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with a warm smile and genuine kindness that instantly made me feel welcome. Blanca went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and stress-free. She was always ready to help with directions, local recommendations, and even assisted with last-minute changes to my booking with patience and professionalism. Her knowledge of the area and her ability to communicate clearly in multiple languages made everything so much easier. What truly sets Blanca apart is her positive attitude and willingness to help no matter the situation. She treated every guest with respect and care, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere throughout the hostel. If you're staying here, you're in great hands with Blanca. She’s a true asset to the team and made my visit unforgettable. Thank you, Blanca.

The service here was fabulous and the staff were friendly. The location is also fabulous. It's on a very busy street for nightlife and within a 10 minute walk of Rotterdam central, but the rooms...... If travelling in a large group we usually book out the whole room of a hostel, this is for convenience, cost (due to being a regular traveller) and not having to worry too much about valuables etc. However this hostel actually had no bedroom door! We were blessed with a curtain as were the other 3 rooms on the same floor. Our room had two extra beds that had a lot of old bedding rustled up all over it and the general presentation was quite poor.

Really enjoyed it here, staff were so helpful and friendly and accomodating. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The only thing would be the noise. It is right next to the party street so be aware this will be audible. Apart from that, great!

Don’t stay here if you are cycling. We chose this hostel because they told us that they would be able to accommodate our bicycles in a secure location. Upon arriving, they said they couldn’t fit any more bicycles in, and that we would have to leave them on the street outside. They assured us that they were safe and that someone would be on reception 24 hours. Unfortunately, when we came down in the morning our locks had been cut through and the bikes were gone. This ruined our cycling holiday and left us stranded in Rotterdam, still 3 days until our ferry home. All this because the hosts were dishonest about their ability to safely store bicycles, and forced us to leave them on a dangerous street.

Convenient location, clean room-beds. In the negatives, only 2 showers and 2 wc for a whole floor (2nd floor). No door between rooms (in our room 10 people) for around 50 people who share the floor. A little overpriced.

Ok, first I said wow such a good location but then regretted. I stayed one night (Friday night), till 3,4 am the noise and sounds are coming to your room, till 5am the travellers in the hostel are comiand going and slamming the door, there is no such a door and just a curtain, I couldn’t sleep at all, plus the room temperature was not good and my window had no curtains to block the light. Overall I don’t recommend unless you just want to put your stuff and go out and hang out till morning.

King kong hostel is in a fantastic central location, right in the heart of Rotterdam’s nightlife. The street is lively and full of bars, making it a great spot if you're looking to enjoy the local scene. Dorm rooms are decent, though not the cleanest. If you’re a light sleeper, don’t forget earplugs! Noise from the bars can last until 4 AM, and it's tough to sleep without them. Fun vibe overall, but best suited for partygoers.

I stayed at this hostel and was really disappointed. The place was not clean, and at one point someone had to come and clean the toilet and the room during our stay. On one of the beds, I even found an earwig. I tried to catch it and take a photo before killing it, but it was too fast and got away. When we went to reception to report the issue, they told us they could not do anything without proof. The next morning, I went to reception again, but the staff member there was unfriendly and unhelpful. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend staying here. The location is next to bars and it is loud in the room

Went a couple times to the cafe....really doesn't look like a typical hostel but more like a boutique hotel! The staff were friendly and the food/coffee was good. Also based on a really nice street.

I flew into Rotterdam to save costs on traveling to the Netherlands. I really wish Amsterdam had a place like this because King Kong is an excellent hostel. They have a place to work if need be, and a variety of sleeping option. I stayed in the mini loft with a friend. Very comfortable and clean. The prices are extremely reasonable, I think I paid about €20/ night. My friend and I had such a great stay that we actually re-routed our trip back to Rotterdam for another night. Breakfast was simple, but high quality and they also rent bikes for a very reasonable rate. The only downside (which was only half a bad) was that at night I discovered have some very tasty, and slightly expensive, deserts for sale. That said, I only regret that part because of my abnormally high cravings for food during my stay at King Kong.

Dope hostel. I've been to about 40 hostels throughout Europe and this one is by far the best overall hostel I've been to considering atmosphere, location, service, and overall quality. You even have a free coffee machine, TV with Netflix, and a few lounge spaces. I forgot to mention the killer kitchen space and art but you should see for yourself.

At age 50, this was my first stay in a hostel and it won't be the last. I guess I was impatient when booking this as I did it from my hotel in Amsterdam on WIFI and didn't think ti check whether I had received a confirmation or not. Believing that I had secured a private room, we were surprised to hear that there were none available. Instead, we were offered a room for four to our selves. The bunk beds seemed at first cold and hard but the atmosphere of the place certainly brought up around. There is a copious breakfast with all day free coffee and tea. The communal kitchen area is spotless and very comfortable. Sen, who was very helpful in guiding us around the focal points of the city made us feel like we were in his living room. We made the best of our 2 nights in Rotterdam and enjoyed all that the city has to offer thanks to the people at King Kong.
