This cool Irish pub is nestled in the heart of Canberra CBD. The atmosphere is great, and the eclectic fit-out is typical of an Irish-themed venue. There are plenty of seating options inside and outside. The staff were really friendly, and we had a great time. We didn’t try the food, but it looks pretty good. We’ll definitely be back.

Quaint little pub tucked away on the side of the road. Great food options, absolutely delicious with portion sizes making you feel full. Very full of character with friendly staff. The schnitzel is absolutely delicious and recommend.

A classic venue in Canberra! I have been here over the years, and it still has the same warm and homey feel! 😀 A wonderful place to visit if you want a nice meal or to just come for a drink or two. It is great that they have Guinness on tap. In addition, the wine list looks spectacular at the moment! Thank you to all the staff who made our visit so wonderful! Keep us the good work.

Pub is fine, service is friendly and fast. & Ambience (with live music) as one would expect . Ordered Salmon.. Clearly farmed & tasted & smelt more like chicken pellets than fish. A disgusting after -taste to the level of being pretty much inedible. Cannot recommend if you enjoy Salmon- in fact, I would go as far as to say avoid - choose something else.

Let's start. I LOVE a good Beef and Guinness pie. I have eaten many from many different Irish pubs. When ever I travel, I try to find an Isish Pub that has it. I decided to try the B&G pie here. Wow! What a disappointment. This was not a B&G pie. It was more like a stew that was bland and tastes like flour. It was also server with chips. Never in my life of eating B&G pies, have they been served with chips. It's always mash potato. Needles to say, I was utterly disappointed. The top was just a square of puff pastry, slapped on top of a bowl. It didn't even cover the bowl. Two bits of beef and, loads of gravy and quite a few carrots. Sorry King O'Malley's, this is NOT B&G pie. I make better at home and I am not even Irish. Now for the rest of the review Staff are great. Very friendly and serve you promptly. My table was cleared promptly as was my empty glass. It is your typical, Irish style pub, which I love. Besides the pie, the rest of my experience was great. My low rating is purely due to the pie. Nothimg else.

The star of the show at O'Malley's is undoubtedly their Guinness stout on tap. Poured to perfection, it was rich, creamy, and smooth, exactly how a good Guinness should be. The pint had the perfect balance of roasted malt flavors and a slightly bitter finish, making it an absolute pleasure to drink. For any stout enthusiast, this is as good as it gets outside of Dublin. Complementing the excellent beer is their delectable Guinness pie. This hearty dish was a perfect blend of tender beef, savory gravy, and a hint of Guinness, all encased in a golden, flaky crust. Each bite was a comforting taste of Ireland, with the rich flavors melding together beautifully. The portion size was generous, ensuring a satisfying meal that pairs perfectly with a pint of Guinness. In summary, O'Malley's Irish Pub is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic Irish experience. The exceptional Guinness stout on tap and the mouthwatering Guinness pie are must-tries.

Google
Great authentic Irish pub in the heart of Canberra. Old school pub and furnishings with plenty of space and cozy fires to sit beside. Guinness on tap (like any good Irish pub) plus wulled wine and hot cider to keep you warm on a cold Canberra winter's day. Food was also great. Beef and Guinness pie was delicious and the kids enjoyed the ham and cheese pizza. Kid friendly venue that had something for everyone

Great place to drop in for a drink or a nice pub meal. On Saturdays there is street Chess between 11am - 3pm held just outside the pub and sometimes inside (Weather dependent) Welcoming and friendly to newcombers. Highly recommended

Yelp
My wife and I found this place during a weeklong stay in Canberra. It is near the Central Bus Stop and City Central, surrounded by many other eateries, shops, etc. This is your typical Irish bar, featuring Giuness beer, but they have plenty of other beers on tap including our favorite: BentSpoke Crankshaft. Food is good and the seating, inside and out, is pleasant. One thing to watch for are the homeless and beggers. During one afternoon we saw several people trying to beg for money; one woman was brazen enough to ask specifically for A$2, then proceeded to walk throughout the outside eating area, drinking what was left in abandoned glasses and eating what food was left behind. This is a minor annoyance but something to be aware of and expect. If we ever make it back to Canberra you can expect us to visit this pub again.

Yelp
Fun restaurant with very friendly staff with great decor for a Pub. Wood sticky tables and mostly stools for seats. Both of us had the ribeye steak and both thought the steaks were just ok, lots of gristle and not super flavorful.

Yelp
So there I was, exploring the jungles of the Australian Capital Territory. With my team of adventurers, we ventured out into the unknown. Indigenous to the ACT, are the UNI students. 18 and some year olds in high heels that walk and look like elegant giraffes and gazelles around 9pm, then turn into wobbling and regurgitating gators at midnight. You can find them making an early stop here...at King O'Malley's. I went to the watering hole for refreshments and I asked for my usual, Makers Mark and ginger ale but I'm lost in translation with the local inhabitants. Me: Makers and ginger beer please Bartend: Maykahs and jinja beeh? Don't got em' mate... Me: What about, one part Makers Mark, One part Sprite, and a splash of Coke? Bartend: Sprite...lem'nade? Splash eh'-coke? Me: Umm...sure. *pours* Bartend: Ere'y-go mate. Me: Thanks I was a little bummed that the drinks EVERYWHERE I went to were measured meticulously. Unlike the local dive bars I'm accustomed to; they pour such stiff drinks that the alcoholics anonymous members go straight to them when they feel like relapsing. Onward into the outback, as I look into the binoculars I see the kangaroos in the distance. Tiny torsos, big bums and rests flat-footed. Energetic things they are though, after a couple of redbull and vodkas...Aussies love to dance, yes they do. What is this? Band music playing 90's alternative covers? I like, I like... We started our barhop here, and ended here after a few stops...I reckon, it is a fun time here. :D Cheers mates!

Yelp
Our friend who is from Canberra originally told us the story behind this pub. O'Malley's goal was to make Canberra alcohol free in the early 1900's. It obviously didn't work, but to commemorate his efforts, they named this pub after him! We came here for dinner around 6PM, the bar was semi full. Ordered some drinks to start - $20 minimum on EFPOS. Got a nice pint of pear Bulmers. The food menu had a lot of great choices, but decided on the Tandoori Chicken Salad. Was quite large and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. My second drink was a cider cocktail with lychee, which was yummy! Overall a cool Irish pub with good food and drinks and a cool history!

Yelp
Whether you are a Northy or Southy, this is a great central location to meet up after a days grind. I've had small planned events here and large planned on a whim events, and King'O's has always come through. Central enough to have it as a launching place for your outings, or to the end of a great evening. http://www.kingomalleys.com.au/

Yelp
Pleasant staff. Batter on the fish and chips was slightly thinner and soggier than I like but superb texture and taste. Ginger beer was satisfyinh without being overpowering.

Yelp
I was in Canberra on business and we asked for some recommendations from some locals in the Australian Royal Air Force and O'Malley's was one of their top choices. We each tried a different dish with no complaints. We ate at many local establishments during our tenure; however, we kept coming back to O'malleys for the atmosphere, the great beer, and the amazing fish and chips. By the end of the trip, all 5 of us were ordering the fish and chips just to ensure they were as great as we thought they were. If you think you have had good fish and chips, you need to try King O'Malley's and be prepared to enjoy some of the tastiness fish around. The beer is great too. My only criticism is the Irish Coffee. You can almost taste the Whiskey; however, the coffee is very bitter, like placing a spoonful of burnt, day old, wet coffee grounds in your mouth and sucking out the juice. My boss was looking for a place to watch the final game of the NBA playoffs, ESPN is "pay per view" in Australia (Canberra at least). King O'malleys was the only place we found with ESPN and the game playing. We were satisfied to enjoy this spot once again with fish and chips, and of course some fine beers. All in all, a great experience and a must see when in Canberra.

Yelp
Great steaks which were cooked as requested. Bleu steak arrived that way, perfectly seared, the other two medium rare were excellent. You order at the bar and on this night all our meals arrived together after about 20 mins (3 being steaks). Good selection of tap beers, including Guinness (of course)! Friendly service too in a nice dark relaxed Irish pub atmosphere.

Yelp
Went here on visit to Canberra in 2007. Enjoyed the food and the beer, of course. Definitely would visit again. Recommended.

Yelp
Chicken schnitzel was atleast $5 over priced, comes with shameful frozen crinkle cut chips and a tiny tub of sauce.

Yelp
O'Malley's is the meet up in Canberra. There is food and drink... decent prices. We've had big nights there with bands and pulling tail along with quiet hangover day drinking and just looking for someone to feed us. If you are from out of town (like I am; visit a couple times a year) O'Malley's is your de facto living room.

Yelp
Had a quick look at the menu and a survey of what was on other patrons tables... I stuck with my beer and was on my way... it's definitely a great place for a drink though. A live Irish folk band was playing. Pretty good. I came for the steak.. The menu only had one... and ... hmmmm ummmm hmmm ummm ... like that I decided to walk... the City Walk. More like my indecisiveness.

Yelp
Waist of time and $$$ manager is rude and needs to look for another job if he isn't happy there! Food served cold and waited close too 40mins got pizza but decided to leave after 40mins and get $$ back!

Yelp
A good place to start a night out in Canberra. Food is average to good (3 to 4 stars YYMV). They have a range of beers on tap, friendly staff, lots of chairs and tables inside and out, and except for Friday and Saturday night tends to be a good place to chill out with a cold one.

Yelp
I've only had bad experiences here. Expensive, and a trashy atmosphere. Lots of cred, for little reason.

Yelp
Used to be a great pub, we went there every Monday for dinner and trivia, despite the overpriced food, for about three years. Then the management started chipping away at the trivia prizes and screwing over some of their most loyal patrons. It's a shame to see a once great pub ruined by shitty management. Two stars because there are worse pubs out there, but it's really the most awful one in civic these days.

Yelp
Nice little pub with a lovely house ale (kings ale, which is brewed on site) & decent pub grub menu. Nothing fancy, but does what it says on the tin!
