King Torta

That asada torta hit the spot, seriously good! My only caution is about the dine-in experience if you arribe after 8:30 PM, It seemed like the staff was trying to hurry us along, which made it hard to relax and enjoy our food before they closed. The cashier is rude, and he randomly asks for ID when customers pay with a card. He applies this rule inconsistently, based on his mood and personal preference, rather than applying the same rule to all customers.

The food is awesome. Definitely a hidden gem in LA, I do think the inside of the restaurant needs a refresher. It looks like a hospital, all white, no decor.

They make bomb tortas and asada fries here but it’s not longer cheap and they still serve the same portion size from when they opened the service is okay depends on who works there the place can be dirty at times so I just order to go. They used to take card but recently they don’t accept card due to the machine not working or whatever it makes sense why the parking lot was empty. I wanted a torta but when I saw the cash only sign I left in disappointment.

I ordered Super Nachos $17 and along with the horrible service and protein ratio to nachos is horrendous. I asked manager if I could even pay for extra meat and he said, “No.” Do not come here to spend your hard earned money folks.

Food was always been great since my CSULA years, pricey but very good. The service and atmosphere is just a regular casual fast food place.

food came out fast (and service was fine lol contrary to other reviews), i ordered the super quesadilla with chicken and some bits were very hard to chew but other than that it was yummy

The California burrito is fire 🔥 🌯 ❤️‍The Nachos di Asada 🔥 😋 and di Torta di Asada🔥And Large horchata and you got yourself a romantic night 🌙

Food and staff are nice. Place is old. I can't eat inside anymore. The benches inside got painted over years back and now so sticky. I hate the feeling. Also been cash only for months! I hardly have cash, shit I hardly even carry my cards now in days either lol Tap is life. I am sure its a , not wanting to show income thing , compared to sorry machines are down, have they not heard of clover? lol next day startup

I love the food at this place, you can't go wrong with anything you order! And they are lying when they say this place only takes cash. The best carne asada nachos and carne asada fries, tortas are so good. The shredded beef tacos are delicious

So we love King Torta and for this past year. The tortas have been back on track. Living up to the King part. But yesterday the torta shrunk down alot. Definitely not a King. They skimped out on meat as well. Tiny chopped up pieces. Like they couldn't spare it. I was shocked that the torta was so small. Usually could feed 2 people. Any how I recommend you change it up and stay with the torta being its usual big self. The prices are pretty hefty for what we got. If its like this again. Id have to say we won't be back for a while.

Has a similar price point to King Taco with an expanded menu. Place was pretty busy and a few tables still had stuff on them after previous customers. Seemed understaffed in my opinion. Had to pay cash. Had the Asada Torta which was a nice portion. The meat was seasoned alright but a bit on the saltier side and the bread was soft when I bit into it. Place is okay but not as good as its counter part in West Covina.

This review is for the breakfast burrito ONLY. I haven't tried any of their other food items yet so maybe later I'll update this review with that. Went in for a breakfast burrito and was told they only have 1 kind which is beans, eggs and chorizo. Nothing else. I got it and it's pretty good, just kinda weird to have a burrito with such a soft flimsy consistency since it's just soft ingredients inside. No cheese, nothing else to firm it up. Also, this place is CASH ONLY so be aware before you go. Cashier was a nice guy, no issues there. Very nice and clean inside. I definitely will go back to check out their other items, just this breakfast burrito was disappointing.

Horrible customer service. The guy at the front desk literally grunts and moans when you are ordering. You will always get your order incorrect (CHECK YOUR TO GO ORDERS INFRONT OF HIM). This place sucks now.

Definitely not impressed with the location. Right from the start, I asked for a refill on my horchata and was told it was not refillable which was a bit disappointing considering the price. Once the food came out, the taco was surprisingly small, almost snack-sized. On the other hand, the torta was generously stuffed, which was a nice contrast. The taste overall wasn't bad it's edible and fills you up but nothing about it really stood out. The seasoning was just average, and there was nothing that made me think, "I need to come back here." Service was fine, but not particularly friendly or welcoming. The place itself felt a little run-down, with not much attention to ambiance or cleanliness. It's the kind of spot you might stop at if you're already in the area and hungry, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Food is absolutely delicious! Tried the hard shell tacos and the shredded beef was juicy and tender. Salsas were delicious as was the guacamole. They're generously topped with lettuce and cheese which essentially leaves you with a mini salad lol. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is the fact that almost every table both inside and outside were dirty despite it not being that busy which means they leave messes on tables for a while after people leave. Now a second thing is that although I know technical difficulties can't be predicted their credit card machine was down when we went and my friend told me it happens a little too often that it's just so inconsistent to not know when it'll be cash only or not.

Quick service own parking lot large portions King Torta has been there for years. Great food and reasonable prices if you are looking for the Taj Mahal of restaurants, it's not here. You go up to the counter order and go to a table. It's probably been there since the beginning. This place is cleaned, but not fancy. I feel safe in the area, but for some people they may be uncomfortable in this part of town. The parking lot is dark and the restaurant is somewhat isolated. Just be aware of your surroundings when we were last there, we met people that had come as far away as Orange County just to have the food we came also from about 40 miles away so it is a place that I've been to a lot and enjoy going to Lunch and dinner are the same prices good burritos, and torta Don't forget to ask for salsa and remember this is not a wimpy pico de gallo. It is a hot salsa.

Update!!! It's cash only now! Apparently their credit card machine is "broken" and they don't take Apple Pay. No wonder nobody was in there during lunch rush hour haha! Luckily we got ahold of some cash otherwise I would've been so bummed to have driven all the way there to not get a delicious torta!

Had a delicious Asada Torta ,comes with beans ,lettuce ,onions,avocado and meat,the Bread is so soft and fresh ,I'd eat the bread alone. The carnitas was a bit dry . Service not friendly at all. Plenty of seating inside and out side ,very simple ambience.

King Torta was hyped to me as a classic neighborhood staple and a good college struggle meal. I'm sure that was the case 20 years ago, but $16 for a torta is pretty steep. The bread was pillowy soft and that was good, the vegetables could've been smaller since they all kind of fell out in chunks. More beans than carnitas. So in a pinch it's fine, but I think they've priced themselves out of a good cost benefit ratio

I've been coming here for years for the hard shell tacos. This time I had the carne asada torta. For $15 I expected more than over salted dry meat that has been chopped so fine I might as well be eating ground beef. The whole thing kept falling apart as I ate it. It was not good and not pleasant.

So my girl grew up out here and we decided to come this location because she said this was the original one we usually go to the Covina one so we took a little over a hour drive to come here and I'd say this was a solid 7/10 Covina one is way better , not only that the lady up front helping her service was poor I asked if they can cut the torta in half upon getting my order and she responded with "there's a knife right there" with attitude like damn why's it so hard to just ask the cook in the back to cut it for us ? Covina one always does it with no hesitation the area is cool outdoor seating and all but over all I won't make the drive to come to this one again if your ever in the Covina area I suggest you stop there and the torta here just wasn't the same neither for some odd reason ...

Came with some people who had frequented King Torta many years ago, and used to be regulars. Food: Carne Asada Torta // French Fries Fluffy telera bread filled with carne asada, beans, lettuce, and the smallest pieces of avocado possible. The telera bread is other worldly, its powdery on the outside and soft on the inside. The asada itself was pretty meek in my opinion, as it was on the drier side. Overall it was kind of just a meh torta, with the bread being the best thing. The french fries were actually pretty good. Nice and crispy, not much more you can ask for. Restaurant / Service: Inside there is plenty of tables to easily accommodate groups of 2-4. The parking lot is a little tight and tricky, but it was not too hard to navigate. Notes: The people I went with were kind of disappointed. They mentioned that "back in the day" King Torta reigned supreme and that the tortas were much better.

Bad customer service, only taking cash, nobody really carries cash now a days and I barely had enough cash to buy lunch, I asked for a cup of water and the guy at the register was very rude and said water is $1.50 which was awfully rude! Most restaurants offer free water. Definitely my last time here! Plus the meat did not taste fresh! hORRIBLE experience will never be back here again!

The food hasn't been as good lately. To top it off, on my last order of Super Nachos they gave me no meat and no sour cream. So I basically paid $17 for chips and guac. Then, the kicker....a hair at the bottom embedded in the cheese. Never going back.

Service: the guy with the manicured eyebrows. It's his job to check every order to make sure it's correct. EVERY SINGLE TIME it's wrong! I have to stay at the counter and recheck it before I leave. Also the prices are outrageous. $6.15 for one sopas is unheard of, and $13 for a torta....WOW! Please don't forget how this community has supported King Torta for years. If you're going to charge more $$ than your product and service needs to reflect that. We ordered an asada torta with no onions. Not only did the leave out the onions but the Avocado as well. We won't be visiting this establishment anymore. I guess it's worth it to take a drive to Pepe's in Alhambra on Valley. Giving One Star only because I have to in order to get my point across

This place is always busy. Must be the quick service, cleanliness of restaurant plus their authentic Mexican cuisine. Not to mention their generous portions.

Not what it used to be. Looks like they Are giving more meat now than the last time I went but the meat is all fat And tough to eat. I live down the block and when I got home our food was cold. How does food get cold in 5min?

Bomb dot com ! I've been coming here since over 20 years. Free easy parking. Super plain dining area. Clean-ish bathroom. Professional staff. Affordable. Chile relleno burrito is the bomb ! Only reason why I come here. My friends carne asada burrito was more like mince meat. The burritos r humongous ! Mine was 2 meals. But her veggie sope was yummy: soft masa. I'll definitely return & recommend!

As i was ordering the two kitchen staff staring at me with a mean look as if i can't see them doing so. Got my "SUPER FRIES" covered with some green avocado sauce no sour cream the smallest amount of meat and so much beans feels like the sauce was used to cover the fact there was no meat didn't even enjoy my food. This used to be the spot not anymore

I haven't been here in years, I had the usual carne asada torta! Same delicious taste! A little messy for a first time date! I'll have to try their nachos next! The tables were a bit dirty...hard to pick the cleanest one.

King Torta is my favorite spot to get torta. I have been coming here for many years. I always get the carne asada torta. I love the flavor and tenderness of the carne asada, but what really sets this place apart from others is the bread. The bread is freshly baked and it is so soft and chewy. The torta also comes with some beans, slices of avocado, chopped onions and cilantro. It is so good with their red hot sauce. You can also ask for pickled carrots and onions for free. To drink, I always go with the horchata. It is so creamy, sweet and refreshing. I've had other items here before such as nachos, hard shell tacos and fish tacos. All are pretty good too, but what keeps me coming back is the torta. I just hope that they stop increasing the price. Each torta is currently $11.95 each, which is more expensive than other places. I always get the food to go, but there are plenty of seats inside and outside to dine in. It is always clean inside and customer service is great.

Went there for lunch and a male cashier helped me out. He was just rude. Didn't say hello or welcome just took my order in a very snobby attitudes. As I was paying for my food, couple of gentleman that were leaving said wave bye and he didn't even respond. As I was waiting for my food, another customer asked for a cup of water and he said he didn't have one, he wanted him to purchase a Kirkland bottle of water. I order a carne asada torta and two hard shell tacos. Food wasn't that great for 24 dollars. I asked for extra napkins and he hesitated to give me extra.All my LA city coworkers warn me about this spot, I should have listen. Don't waste your time or money in this place. There are many other great places to eat in Lincoln Heights and less expensive.

Best part of the meal was chips. Meat too chewy at points and I felt like I was chewing a sponge. Ordered a California burrito with carne asada. No fries in the burrito. Was decent enough to eat half but I quit after. Chips were the star of the show.

Been coming here for years and all the food is amazing. Burritos, fries you name it. King Torta is an east Los Angeles staple.

Love the hard shell tacos here but the burrito gave me zero reasons to come back. Menu states rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, onions and cilantro. My burrito had ALOT of beans with onion & cilantro. But rice, lettuce cheese were nowhere to be seen. Beans had no flavor. Disappointed, we ordered 3 of them.

I passed by this place many years ago but never tried it until recently. Walking inside, it was super clean and we ordered the hard shell beef taco and I also got the carnitas, el pastor and carne asada soft tacos and a side of fries. The portions were super generous and I could have been full with only two tacos! The service was great and our takeout was packaged very well. I'm impressed. And people were still coming in less than 30 minutes of closing. So it must popular in the area!

I've been coming here for years and their asada super fries and super nachos along with the torta never disappoints. The asada is usually flavorful and the guacamole they add is spicy and lemony, I think it's delicious and adds a good flavor to the sour cream, beans and cheese that are already added. Their carnitas is another meat I will get on these 3 items but sometimes it's a hit or a miss with the carnitas. Horchata is passable for me. It tastes like horchata. Once it tasted slightly watered down. Another thing I get during lent is their guacamole fries... I just love the guacamole here. I think these are the best super fries or super nachos mainly because of the guacamole they add. I pass on their tacos. They add cabbage to them and I'm not a fan. I can ask for no cabbage but I just prefer the other good stuff

Wow am I impressed, clean and reasonable $. Best Torta I've had in years. Was just passing bye and it looked empty so I stopped in. I'll be back with my work crew.

The food is great. Don't even attempt to call to order because they never pick up even when they're not busy. I would give 5 although we can't place phone orders which is inconvenient.

Overall nice place for a quick firm in and pick up. Despite of old interior and interesting parking, it's a good place for torta or burrito. Service was great and even helped clarify a phone issue I had when trying to order from them!

My kids enjoyed the carne asada tortas. They also liked the fries. I got pretty speedy service. I prefer King Taco but my kids prefer the tortas here.

Food was so greasy it was falling part . All the grease literally ripped the bag of how greasy it was . And the girls there always look mad and they're so rude.

I have never encountered such a rude cashier. We arrived 30 minutes before closing but we knew that when we decided to order food from here. From the moment we walked into this place to order our food, the cashier had such an attitude. Not only did she have to state that the restaurant closed at 9 because she clearly wanted to go home on time, she also rudely said that I couldn't get a cup of ice because they don't offer ice to customers. That was strange because my cousin's husband was able to get a cup of ice with no problem. The cashier clearly needs some training on how to treat customers and if she's unhappy with her job, she probably should work somewhere else.

Drove 40 mins to get my favorite meal and had to drive back because they put the wrong ingredients, they only said sorry and they threw the other box full of food away. This place is going downhill with customer service. Good thing their food is good.

Efficient customer service. The worker immediately offered to make me an horchata without ice as first requested. Since I wouldn't want it to go to waste I thanked him for the gesture and kept the excellent drink. The asada torta as always slayed. Sunday night was happening.

It would be great for phone orders to be available... the cashier said reason they don't answer because she believes that calls are spam calls. No one was there she would have had time to answer but she decides not to. Hmmm

Been going there about 20 years the past few years the guy who makes the food has attitude and will yell at you you asked them to wrap the food twice so the torta and whatnot doesn't go all over the place he looks at you with attitude only wraps it once you go back and complain they're like well you want it or not that's the way we do it but yet in the past everything was always done fine it's gone to a point instead of going there five six times a month go there once every 2 or 3 months if that plus they never answer the phone and I mean never by us the lady one time she said the phone is for them to call out if they need to not to take phone orders then why does it say they take phone orders I've let it ring over 40 times keep calling back calling back calling back no one ever answered 15 minutes later I'm in the business so it's more like what's the point the phone's ringing right by them and they're talking to each other ignoring the phone ask them if they're going to pick it up they said they're busy don't worry about it I said yeah because I'm the one who's calling I hung up the phone stopped ringing they're like well we're busy too much enjoying typing on their cell phones it's not worth my time anymore prices have gotten a lot higher here with their attitude and the way you treat it there's no point on going back

When I went to ELAC this was one of my absolute favorite spots. All of my friends went to Warren high school, so this was at the bottom of the hill. Still have yet to try one of their tortas, but I hear they are good. I really love their super fries. The fries are a thicker almost steak fry. The beans are just the right mix of emulsified and thick. Asada was always great. The thing that sets this place apart is their guac that they put on top. I really really hate guac, but this one was creamy and has a spice to it. I could kill the whole plate, even though it's enough for three people. Their green chili burrito is good too. Mom liked the taquitos so give that a rip. Totally recommend.

Yummmyyyyyy They use real stringy, melty cheese on their nachos. The asada is good quality, tender and flavorful. The chips have a perfect crunch (although they are a tiny bit greasy). I liked the guacamole and sour cream on top. I only wish they had a nacho option with some diced tomato, onion and cilantro. As is, it is only chips, meat and cheese. I do ask for added cilantro and onion, so not a big deal but more veggies would be nice. The cilantro, onions, possible tomato would be a nice contrast and cut through the grease of the cheese, meat and nachos (for me anyway). However, it's not a huge deal because I've ordered them several times. The horchata is good!! Not too sweet or artificial tasting. The salsa verde can be TOOOO salty sometimes where it's not edible. One or two of the girls taking orders can be a little nicer with better customer service. They definitely give entry level, unprofessional, "what do you want" vibe. Not attractive - management/owner may want to train cashiers or hire people with better attitudes.

Truth be told my torta was good but I've had much better, it was lacking in the inside. The fresh bread was noticeable and delicious, salsa was FIRE , and chips were good so I was ultimately satisfied. I wish they cut the torta in half because it was hard to eat while in the passenger seat as I was being driven but nonetheless I would order an Al pastor dish again bc the Al pastor was honesty really well seasoned and perfectly made. If I go back I want to try the burrito

They have terrible service. I gave the boy at the register with long hair my order and he didn't even want to be there and had an ugly rude attitude. When the order came out I checked it before leaving and told him it was wrong and then he sighed, rolled his eyes, and said whatever. And when telling the cooks they also were annoyed too. When I was waiting for my food again the boy purposely didn't call out my food even when it was done and was just walking around and when he finally wanted to he gave me my food and when I checked again they messed up my order again. The foods good but for $50 and not even getting what I ordered is stupid. Terrible customer service they could use new staff.

Excellent service , quick and clean establishment. They have delicious Al pastor Tortas. Nachos are typical and yummy. Breakfast burritos are too greasy and the tostadas get soft too quickly.

Food is good Service is fast.but the menu prices have gone up from the photos you see on here about 12-17 dollars per item

I've had good and bad experiences here I think it just depends on who's cooking, the tacos de papa are always a must !

You wouldn't think that they had tacos by the name but King Torta's got some great tasting Asada, Al Pastor, and Chicken taco, not saying there King Taco status but with the nearest King Taco 5 miles away this is a great spot to grab a taco.
