Google
That asada torta hit the spot, seriously good! My only caution is about the dine-in experience if you arribe after 8:30 PM, It seemed like the staff was trying to hurry us along, which made it hard to relax and enjoy our food before they closed. The cashier is rude, and he randomly asks for ID when customers pay with a card. He applies this rule inconsistently, based on his mood and personal preference, rather than applying the same rule to all customers.

Google
$20 for asada fries alone! No drink! Yeah the place is good, but not so good where I can't get asada fries somewhere else. Wild they trying to bleed the community dry. I wouldn't say there service is bad but its nothing special, probably could be more attentive with the tables. The atmosphere is trash. Most uncomfortable seats ever.

Google
Food is great. I love King Torta been coming here on and off over 20 years. The service is awful as the cashier does no greeting and the whole interaction spoke with an attitude. Cashiers are the face of the business and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere is severely lacking here lately. Reach me I am happy to help if you need some tips on customer service training. Thank you, hope it gets better.

Google
food came out fast (and service was fine lol contrary to other reviews), i ordered the super quesadilla with chicken and some bits were very hard to chew but other than that it was yummy

Google
They say they take phone orders, but I call twice and I get no answer. I’m thinking they might be busy so I just make my way over. There’s literally 3 people in the restaurant (already eating) so I go up and place my order. Once I get my receipt I notice the phone number is the same as google so I ask if it’s an accurate phone number and they said yes. So as I’m waiting (around 10 mins) I called again while being in the restaurant and still nobody answers, I try to bring that up to the worker and the manager just gives us both a dirty look and she just stopped responding to me. If they don’t want to do their job they should just say it! It shouldn’t be hard to answer a phone call when there’s 3 customers in the restaurant already tended to.

Google
The order of beef taquitos are delicious my daughter enjoyed it I also enjoyed the housemade guacamole and the tacos Dorados de papá. But I just realized that they don't serve water as a common practice it's not required by law it's not a national or Statewide law but many establishments normally serve water to meet their customers expectations. If you ask for a cup of water you may not get it here...

Google
I love this place. They make the best tortas in all of LA. The reason they are so good is they make the bread and it's tasty. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Mat S

Google
This place is dirty and all the tables are covered in trash from all the ppl that sat there previously. Customer service is inattentive and the food is subpar to say the least. I strongly would NOT recommend..

Yelp
Quick service own parking lot large portions King Torta has been there for years. Great food and reasonable prices if you are looking for the Taj Mahal of restaurants, it's not here. You go up to the counter order and go to a table. It's probably been there since the beginning. This place is cleaned, but not fancy. I feel safe in the area, but for some people they may be uncomfortable in this part of town. The parking lot is dark and the restaurant is somewhat isolated. Just be aware of your surroundings when we were last there, we met people that had come as far away as Orange County just to have the food we came also from about 40 miles away so it is a place that I've been to a lot and enjoy going to Lunch and dinner are the same prices good burritos, and torta Don't forget to ask for salsa and remember this is not a wimpy pico de gallo. It is a hot salsa.

Yelp
Definitely not impressed with the location. Right from the start, I asked for a refill on my horchata and was told it was not refillable which was a bit disappointing considering the price. Once the food came out, the taco was surprisingly small, almost snack-sized. On the other hand, the torta was generously stuffed, which was a nice contrast. The taste overall wasn't bad it's edible and fills you up but nothing about it really stood out. The seasoning was just average, and there was nothing that made me think, "I need to come back here." Service was fine, but not particularly friendly or welcoming. The place itself felt a little run-down, with not much attention to ambiance or cleanliness. It's the kind of spot you might stop at if you're already in the area and hungry, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Yelp
Not what it used to be. Looks like they Are giving more meat now than the last time I went but the meat is all fat And tough to eat. I live down the block and when I got home our food was cold. How does food get cold in 5min?
google avatar

Juan O.

Yelp
The food hasn't been as good lately. To top it off, on my last order of Super Nachos they gave me no meat and no sour cream. So I basically paid $17 for chips and guac. Then, the kicker....a hair at the bottom embedded in the cheese. Never going back.

Yelp
King Torta was hyped to me as a classic neighborhood staple and a good college struggle meal. I'm sure that was the case 20 years ago, but $16 for a torta is pretty steep. The bread was pillowy soft and that was good, the vegetables could've been smaller since they all kind of fell out in chunks. More beans than carnitas. So in a pinch it's fine, but I think they've priced themselves out of a good cost benefit ratio
google avatar

Brenda M.

Yelp
Had a delicious Asada Torta ,comes with beans ,lettuce ,onions, avocado and meat, the Bread is so soft and fresh ,I'd eat the bread alone. The carnitas was a bit dry . Service not friendly at all. Plenty of seating inside and out side ,very simple ambience.

Yelp
So my girl grew up out here and we decided to come this location because she said this was the original one we usually go to the Covina one so we took a little over a hour drive to come here and I'd say this was a solid 7/10 Covina one is way better , not only that the lady up front helping her service was poor I asked if they can cut the torta in half upon getting my order and she responded with "there's a knife right there" with attitude like damn why's it so hard to just ask the cook in the back to cut it for us ? Covina one always does it with no hesitation the area is cool outdoor seating and all but over all I won't make the drive to come to this one again if your ever in the Covina area I suggest you stop there and the torta here just wasn't the same neither for some odd reason ...

Yelp
Came with some people who had frequented King Torta many years ago, and used to be regulars. Food: Carne Asada Torta // French Fries Fluffy telera bread filled with carne asada, beans, lettuce, and the smallest pieces of avocado possible. The telera bread is other worldly, its powdery on the outside and soft on the inside. The asada itself was pretty meek in my opinion, as it was on the drier side. Overall it was kind of just a meh torta, with the bread being the best thing. The french fries were actually pretty good. Nice and crispy, not much more you can ask for. Restaurant / Service: Inside there is plenty of tables to easily accommodate groups of 2-4. The parking lot is a little tight and tricky, but it was not too hard to navigate. Notes: The people I went with were kind of disappointed. They mentioned that "back in the day" King Torta reigned supreme and that the tortas were much better.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and all the food is amazing. Burritos, fries you name it. King Torta is an east Los Angeles staple.

Yelp
Went there for lunch and a male cashier helped me out. He was just rude. Didn't say hello or welcome just took my order in a very snobby attitudes. As I was paying for my food, couple of gentleman that were leaving said wave bye and he didn't even respond. As I was waiting for my food, another customer asked for a cup of water and he said he didn't have one, he wanted him to purchase a Kirkland bottle of water. I order a carne asada torta and two hard shell tacos. Food wasn't that great for 24 dollars. I asked for extra napkins and he hesitated to give me extra. All my LA city coworkers warn me about this spot, I should have listen. Don't waste your time or money in this place. There are many other great places to eat in Lincoln Heights and less expensive.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years, I had the usual carne asada torta! Same delicious taste! A little messy for a first time date! I'll have to try their nachos next! The tables were a bit dirty...hard to pick the cleanest one.

Floyd N.

Yelp
Wow am I impressed, clean and reasonable $. Best Torta I've had in years. Was just passing bye and it looked empty so I stopped in. I'll be back with my work crew.

Yelp
Bomb dot com ! I've been coming here since over 20 years. Free easy parking. Super plain dining area. Clean-ish bathroom. Professional staff. Affordable. Chile relleno burrito is the bomb ! Only reason why I come here. My friends carne asada burrito was more like mince meat. The burritos r humongous ! Mine was 2 meals. But her veggie sope was yummy: soft masa. I'll definitely return & recommend!

Yelp
King Torta is my favorite spot to get torta. I have been coming here for many years. I always get the carne asada torta. I love the flavor and tenderness of the carne asada, but what really sets this place apart from others is the bread. The bread is freshly baked and it is so soft and chewy. The torta also comes with some beans, slices of avocado, chopped onions and cilantro. It is so good with their red hot sauce. You can also ask for pickled carrots and onions for free. To drink, I always go with the horchata. It is so creamy, sweet and refreshing. I've had other items here before such as nachos, hard shell tacos and fish tacos. All are pretty good too, but what keeps me coming back is the torta. I just hope that they stop increasing the price. Each torta is currently $11.95 each, which is more expensive than other places. I always get the food to go, but there are plenty of seats inside and outside to dine in. It is always clean inside and customer service is great.

Richard P.

Yelp
Drove 40 mins to get my favorite meal and had to drive back because they put the wrong ingredients, they only said sorry and they threw the other box full of food away. This place is going downhill with customer service. Good thing their food is good.
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
Love the hard shell tacos here but the burrito gave me zero reasons to come back. Menu states rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, onions and cilantro. My burrito had ALOT of beans with onion & cilantro. But rice, lettuce cheese were nowhere to be seen. Beans had no flavor. Disappointed, we ordered 3 of them.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and their asada super fries and super nachos along with the torta never disappoints. The asada is usually flavorful and the guacamole they add is spicy and lemony, I think it's delicious and adds a good flavor to the sour cream, beans and cheese that are already added. Their carnitas is another meat I will get on these 3 items but sometimes it's a hit or a miss with the carnitas. Horchata is passable for me. It tastes like horchata. Once it tasted slightly watered down. Another thing I get during lent is their guacamole fries... I just love the guacamole here. I think these are the best super fries or super nachos mainly because of the guacamole they add. I pass on their tacos. They add cabbage to them and I'm not a fan. I can ask for no cabbage but I just prefer the other good stuff
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
Great food. Fast and no frills. The torta is great. The beef and fish tacos are good. Best torta place in LA
google avatar

Judy G.

Yelp
I passed by this place many years ago but never tried it until recently. Walking inside, it was super clean and we ordered the hard shell beef taco and I also got the carnitas, el pastor and carne asada soft tacos and a side of fries. The portions were super generous and I could have been full with only two tacos! The service was great and our takeout was packaged very well. I'm impressed. And people were still coming in less than 30 minutes of closing. So it must popular in the area!
google avatar

Carla S.

Yelp
The food is great. Don't even attempt to call to order because they never pick up even when they're not busy. I would give 5 although we can't place phone orders which is inconvenient.
google avatar

Cecilia H.

Yelp
This is the best torta I've had in a while but also I don't eat tortas very often either... I first came here over 10 years ago and I had my first torta ever at this place. I don't remember it being super impressive but maybe my palette was just beginning to form?. I got the Al pastor and carne asada to share and they were both really good. I could definitely taste the char on the asada. It was hard to pick a favorite and you can't go wrong with either. I do wish it had more veggies in it but I can see myself frequenting this place if I want a torta.
google avatar

Nicolas J.

Yelp
Best part of the meal was chips. Meat too chewy at points and I felt like I was chewing a sponge. Ordered a California burrito with carne asada. No fries in the burrito. Was decent enough to eat half but I quit after. Chips were the star of the show.

Isaac V.

Yelp
Overall nice place for a quick firm in and pick up. Despite of old interior and interesting parking, it's a good place for torta or burrito. Service was great and even helped clarify a phone issue I had when trying to order from them!
google avatar

TR R.

Yelp
My kids enjoyed the carne asada tortas. They also liked the fries. I got pretty speedy service. I prefer King Taco but my kids prefer the tortas here.
google avatar

Maria I.

Yelp
Food was so greasy it was falling part . All the grease literally ripped the bag of how greasy it was . And the girls there always look mad and they're so rude.
google avatar

Gerry B.

Yelp
Efficient customer service. The worker immediately offered to make me an horchata without ice as first requested. Since I wouldn't want it to go to waste I thanked him for the gesture and kept the excellent drink. The asada torta as always slayed. Sunday night was happening.

Izabella P.

Yelp
They have terrible service. I gave the boy at the register with long hair my order and he didn't even want to be there and had an ugly rude attitude. When the order came out I checked it before leaving and told him it was wrong and then he sighed, rolled his eyes, and said whatever. And when telling the cooks they also were annoyed too. When I was waiting for my food again the boy purposely didn't call out my food even when it was done and was just walking around and when he finally wanted to he gave me my food and when I checked again they messed up my order again. The foods good but for $50 and not even getting what I ordered is stupid. Terrible customer service they could use new staff.
google avatar

Denise V.

Yelp
It would be great for phone orders to be available... the cashier said reason they don't answer because she believes that calls are spam calls. No one was there she would have had time to answer but she decides not to. Hmmm

Carlos H.

Yelp
Food is good Service is fast.but the menu prices have gone up from the photos you see on here about 12-17 dollars per item
google avatar

Valerie M.

Yelp
food: very good carne asada fries but are way to pricey for a small portion service: really nice employees very welcoming and uplifting 8/10 fries 6/10 price

Juan R.

Yelp
I've had good and bad experiences here I think it just depends on who's cooking, the tacos de papa are always a must !
google avatar

Mag T.

Yelp
I have never encountered such a rude cashier. We arrived 30 minutes before closing but we knew that when we decided to order food from here. From the moment we walked into this place to order our food, the cashier had such an attitude. Not only did she have to state that the restaurant closed at 9 because she clearly wanted to go home on time, she also rudely said that I couldn't get a cup of ice because they don't offer ice to customers. That was strange because my cousin's husband was able to get a cup of ice with no problem. The cashier clearly needs some training on how to treat customers and if she's unhappy with her job, she probably should work somewhere else.

Yelp
When I went to ELAC this was one of my absolute favorite spots. All of my friends went to Warren high school, so this was at the bottom of the hill. Still have yet to try one of their tortas, but I hear they are good. I really love their super fries. The fries are a thicker almost steak fry. The beans are just the right mix of emulsified and thick. Asada was always great. The thing that sets this place apart is their guac that they put on top. I really really hate guac, but this one was creamy and has a spice to it. I could kill the whole plate, even though it's enough for three people. Their green chili burrito is good too. Mom liked the taquitos so give that a rip. Totally recommend.

Yelp
Been coming here for years, I think it's a classic spot for mexican food. Tortas, burritos, tacos, nachos and even fries, all of them I think are delicious and come out HOT. My personal favorite are the super fries, and they never fail to disappoint when it comes to their taste. I honestly haven't found a place with better fries, but I hope one day I do just to try them. I would take to go because although the food is great, the interior is dated and seems a little backroomish. Though, I wouldn't fault the place for it, it's been there for a long time so otherwise it's amazing.
google avatar

Karina A.

Yelp
Hype! The best thing here are the hard shelled beef tacos. We ordered a torta de asada with cheese and it looks like they carelessly threw the cheese in there without letting it melt. You would think a spot that had the word 'torta' as their name would specialize in that. I've had better tortas. Costumer service is ehhh, the guy at the register rushes you to order. Pricey too.

Nancy L.

Yelp
Delicious hard shell beef tacos they loaded up with yellow cheese, guacamole, lettuce. The super nachos are full of flavor.Fast service I usually don't wait too long to receive my food.
google avatar

Melinda B.

Yelp
Yummmyyyyyy They use real stringy, melty cheese on their nachos. The asada is good quality, tender and flavorful. The chips have a perfect crunch (although they are a tiny bit greasy). I liked the guacamole and sour cream on top. I only wish they had a nacho option with some diced tomato, onion and cilantro. As is, it is only chips, meat and cheese. I do ask for added cilantro and onion, so not a big deal but more veggies would be nice. The cilantro, onions, possible tomato would be a nice contrast and cut through the grease of the cheese, meat and nachos (for me anyway). However, it's not a huge deal because I've ordered them several times. The horchata is good!! Not too sweet or artificial tasting. The salsa verde can be TOOOO salty sometimes where it's not edible. One or two of the girls taking orders can be a little nicer with better customer service. They definitely give entry level, unprofessional, "what do you want" vibe. Not attractive - management/owner may want to train cashiers or hire people with better attitudes.

Carloz E.

Yelp
Very bad service don't go there , there rude takes 20 minutes to place an order You
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
Excellent service , quick and clean establishment. They have delicious Al pastor Tortas. Nachos are typical and yummy. Breakfast burritos are too greasy and the tostadas get soft too quickly.
google avatar

Jailene S.

Yelp
Truth be told my torta was good but I've had much better, it was lacking in the inside. The fresh bread was noticeable and delicious, salsa was FIRE , and chips were good so I was ultimately satisfied. I wish they cut the torta in half because it was hard to eat while in the passenger seat as I was being driven but nonetheless I would order an Al pastor dish again bc the Al pastor was honesty really well seasoned and perfectly made. If I go back I want to try the burrito
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
You wouldn't think that they had tacos by the name but King Torta's got some great tasting Asada, Al Pastor, and Chicken taco, not saying there King Taco status but with the nearest King Taco 5 miles away this is a great spot to grab a taco.
google avatar

Arturo M.

Yelp
R.I.P. King Torta... There is a new restaurant posing as King Torta here. The old King Torta served delicious tortas chock full of generous portions of tender, well-flavored carne asada and a healthy amount of avocado that were bomb. You could enjoy this bomb torta in the comfort of their air conditioned dining room. This imposter is serving a weak excuse for a torta with lean portions of average carne asada, and a single slice of avocado, that are just plain sad. And... the dining room is closed. Did they not get the Governor's message on June 15th?? Seems both the Governor and this torta deserve to be recalled! Possibly another victom of Draconian Governor's response to Covid? Maybe, but it's had enough time to improve... Avocados grow in everyone's backyard out here, and carne asada is plentiful from what I can tell... No excuse by now.

Alan D.

Yelp
I ordered Super Nachos $17 and along with the horrible service and protein ratio to nachos is horrendous. I asked manager if I could even pay for extra meat and said, "No." do not come here to spend your hard earned money folks.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I've been coming here since 1995 when I was a sophomore at Cal State LA. The service was pretty bad today. The cashier was a bit rude and slow. She was sighing loud and rolling her eyes. The service is usually top notch, but today it was lagging that Hispanic warmth. The place is small and gets really crowded during lunch time. It's best to come early. The place is extremely popular. The food is bomb, fresh and tasty. Come in and enjoy!!!

J. S.

Yelp
We love their taquitos with avocado sauce. Good quesadilla, too. Fast service. Reasonable prices.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
First off costumer service was good. Restaurant looked clean. The food was not good at all. I only went because my coworkers wanted to try it out. There is so much better food options around here. Save your calories for something worth it.

Tony P.

Yelp
What happened here??? Been coming here for years. The taste was off on Asada Torta, had trouble finding any avocado, Way too much onion. Red salsa was not nearly as good as the past. Fries were $6 and horrible. Fried in old oil maybe. Spent way too much money and threw more than half away. Extremely disappointed in the quality of the food after going out of my way. The place had a real dreary feel to. Not very inviting or welcoming. Unfortunately won't be seeing this place for a long time Would've been better off and saved money going to Del Taco / Taco Bell
google avatar

Carlos O.

Yelp
Again, this place. I ask for no cabbage on my tacos, yet here it is, and then to top it off, they didn't put the avocad sauce on them. You would think for what they charge, they get your order right. I tried calling, but no one picked up. So i drove back, and to my surprise, they were not busy, so I explained the issue, and all the young lady said was "that it." Yet there is no apology. No, sorry for the inconvenience of you wasting your gas. If it was possible, I wouldn't even give them a star.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Haven't been in years and the asada fries were just as bomb as I remembered and the crispy taco was small but the meat and itself was bomb .Definitely going again soon !
