If you're a thrill-seeker looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush, Kingda Ka is the roller coaster of your dreams! This colossal marvel at Six Flags Great Adventure is not just a ride; it's a heart-pounding experience that will leave you breathless and craving more. FYI You do need to get a locker for $2 because you can not take anything in your pockets. From the moment you approach the towering structure, you can feel the excitement in the air. The sheer height of Kingda Ka is nothing short of awe-inspiring, standing at a staggering 456 feet tall. As you climb into the train and strap yourself in, anticipation builds to a fever pitch. The launch is explosive—literally. Within seconds, you're catapulted from 0 to 128 mph, making it the fastest roller coaster in the world. The acceleration is intense, and the sensation of being thrust forward at breakneck speed is absolutely exhilarating. The vertical climb that follows is a jaw-dropping experience, giving you a few moments to take in the breathtaking view before you plunge back down in a stomach-churning free fall. What sets Kingda Ka apart is not just its speed and height but also its flawless execution. The ride is incredibly smooth, with every twist and turn expertly designed to maximize your thrill. The sheer force of the ride is balanced by its precision engineering, ensuring that you feel every moment of excitement without any discomfort. One of my favorite rollercoasters ever!

Google
I've been looking forward to this ride since the 4th grade. I waited for the front row and was delighted with the craziest hairdo after! I also went a second time but in the back to test the myth about the ride being rougher the further back in the train you are; it's true, very painful last row!

deependablereviews

Google
The front row is worth the wait! Also, you can’t take your phone or keys on the ride so just put them in a locker before an attendant yells at you. I would highly recommend starting your day here when the park opens. The ride ops were doing fantastic work getting the trains out as fast as possible, but the line will get long. This is definitely an underrated coaster that not enough people talk about. Get a ride before they decide to replace it with an LSM launch that isn’t as powerful!

This was truly an amazing ride. I went during July and I was very scared to go on it at first but once I went on it my fear of roller coasters vanished. I loved when it went so high up in the air as it was worth the thrilling experience and the hill at the end was so satisfying. I am so sad that they might close this ride 😢 but whatever they do to it it will always be remembered as one of the best roller coasters I have ever rode.

Google
It took a lot of courage to ride it for the first time, but this became my favorite coaster. I wish I'd had the chance to ride it more, but unfortunately, nothing ever lasts forever. LONG LIVE THE KING! 👑

Mary C

Google
Super overrated. The first 3 seconds are the only entertaining part of this ride. After that first huge drop which I'll admit is pretty cool and has a great view it's just boring after that. Storm Runner at Hershey park is a way more fun launch coaster

Google
I've never actually ridden this ride, and I sadly never will, since it's been demolished. So why am I giving it 5 stars? The loss of this frankly historic landmark is a sad day for amusement park lovers everywhere. The news of its decommissioning saddened me deeply, far more than I would've anticipated. I think it goes beyond the fact I never took the chance to ride it. For 19 years, Kingda Ka represented unfiltered ambition, whose extremity in height and speed satisfied our child-like wonder. Everyone I know who's been on it says very similar things: The ride itself was very short, but offered thrills like no other. The lack of a bunny hill after the big drop for extra airtime is missed on other strata coasters like Top Thrill 2. Faster coasters are already out there, and even bigger ones are planned, but for the second half of my childhood and into early adulthood, Kingda Ka served as a giant green beacon of hope. No matter what you strived for, the sky was literally the limit. Long live the king! 🪦 🎢

Google
By far one of the craziest rides I have ever been on. We went during a weekday and the line went by like nothing. That acceleration to 128 mph is amazing! There's a airtime hill at the end that was a surprise too. I recommend sitting towards the front but not in the very front, as that adds minutes to your wait time.

Yelp
Great ride. Line was 9999999999999999 billion hours long. Not recommended for new coaster riders.

Yelp
Goodbye, Kingda Ka, RIP, may you have a good time in coaster heaven with the others rides that were removed over the years.

Yelp
This is currently the only operating strata coaster in the United States. As such, riding it is quite an experience. However, I do wish its course did something after the top hat. With that said, the strata coaster launch, top hat, and drop still makes this highly worth riding.

Anoushka S.

Yelp
I loved riding King Da Ka. It was one of the best experiences in my life, I was devasted that they had to close the ride, but now I will never forget the memorable moment when I first went on it.

Yelp
management couldn't be worse. waited in line for 20 min for nothing even with flash pass. Btw don't water ur time on flash pass, total scam. The kingda Ka itself is great, but may the person who manage the line system rot in hell.

Yelp
Kingda Ka is truly one of its kind (and I really mean it as it's close replica Top Thrill Dragster is now closing down). As the world's tallest and second fastest roller coaster, this roller coaster is a true beauty for any thrill seeker and is a must-ride roller coaster! This WAS the world's fastest roller coaster for the longest time and now is the second, but don't underestimate as you go from 0 to 128 mph in less than 3.5 seconds and climb up to 450+ feet and the entire ride is complete in less than 15 seconds! As a thrill seeker, I've been wanting to ride this ride for the longest time and I was finally able to during my visit to Six Flags Great Adventure. Even as a huge thrill seeker, I have to say -- I was a bit nervous to get on this ride, but if anyone is hesitating because they are nervous, I would say the ride isn't as scary as you think. I think the biggest adrenaline/thrill is when you actually go up the roller coaster when the coaster launches. The coaster slows down towards the top of the ride and going down doesn't seem as extreme. It does feel like it will blow your face away. Nevertheless, it is a GREAT ride that anyone should conquer and you'll have bragging rights once you conquer the ride!

Yelp
Makes you feel like your guts are in your shoes. Very fast ride and a one of its kind especially the shape of the coaster. It's so fast and thrilling but no long which is fine. Not much to say, you go so fast in the snap of a finger and then free fall.

Yelp
0 to 128mph in 3.5 seconds... need to say more... For adrenaline junkies, a must... Kingda Ka is amazing. The tallest and 2nd fastest ride in the world (yet strangely no signs telling you this!). 0 to 128mph in 3.5 seconds and drop from the height of 456 ft that too twisted. Woww.. oohooo...You can feel your eyelids being pushed back as well as your ears popping. this is located at the east end of the park and I waited 2 hours for this. this is the most popular attraction of this park. guess what I was sitting at the front. Sitting in the front you feel so much wind in your face, tears come from my eyes. It's over so fast but an amazing feeling of acceleration as well as height. when the ride starts, it stops at a point hydraulic launch system sends you flying at a crazy 128mph straight up and over the hump to a downward spiral that is none less than totally amazing all the way down. The ride is not very long and last hardly 1 minute Highly recommend in the front seats! Rating - 10/10

Yelp
Great rollercoaster! It's over in 50 seconds so if you're afraid don't be, even very young kids go on it and they love it! From my experience and testimonials of others this coaster often has technical issue and closes for hours, thus make this your number one priority while visiting the park! Also, make sure to place your hands in comfortable positions when sitting down as show on directions. Otherwise you'll end up with bruises like my wife, because she was holding on too tight incorrectly .

Yelp
Kingda Ka has been closed all summer up to June 2023. Very disappointing as this is the most popular attraction

Yelp
What does it feel like to go 128 mph on the tallest coaster in the world at a crazy height of 456ft? Nothing short of totally amazing in every way! This coaster really is in every way amazing even though the ride only last less than a minute the fact that the hydraulic launch system sends you flying at a crazy 128mph straight up and over the hump to a downward spiral that is none less than totally amazing all the way down is soo unique to any of these type of launch coasters making this the best one I've ridden anywhere! Kingda ka is notorious for breakdowns and for just not working as this ride is really like a baby it seems like and needs to be taken care of every step of the way I say this from what I've herd from others and from what I experienced on the day I visited as it was broken down for a few hours after the park opened and it wasn't tell about mid day that I was able to get a ride in and shortly after I got my ride in Kingda Ka broke down and was down the rest of the day so my advice to anyone who wants to ride is to get there first and keep checking back if it's not open yet because you could only get a short window to ride even more so if it's a busy day in the park as this line moves super slow! This ride is nothing short of a totally epic thrill for anyone who enjoys one of the best coasters in the world that sends you launching to such high speeds! Overall I can't wait to get my next ride in on Kingda Ka and I'll be looking forward to it and my next visit to Six Flags Great Adventure because this ride is by far one of the coolest ones on the planet!

Yelp
Located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, Kingda Ka is the world's tallest roller coaster and the world's second fastest roller coaster. The train is launched by a hydraulic launch mechanism to 128 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. So how does the ride really feel? I think the biggest part of the ride is the anticipation. I am not sure how long we actually sat in the car before we "took off" but it felt like minutes. When you finally climb that tower and drop, it happens so fast that you don't even have time to be scared. I wouldn't recommend waiting more than a half hour, but if you get a chance to ride Kingda Ka, I definitely would take the plunge.

Yelp
Four stars for the wait, five stars for the super fast short ride! You sit in the coaster. You listen to some recording about g-force and speed and yada yada yada while you wait to be sent on your way. This rollercoaster doesn't go loop to loop or swirling down the track and there's no putting your hands up as you speed along the track pushed by all those "g-forces". NO! You sit back, put your head back and follow the instructions because the G-FORCE is real!! You're not cranked up a hill and then dropped. You're launched at full speed straight up lord knows how many feet...and then dropped down. The end. Kinda Ka...go get on it!!!

Yelp
I'm mixed on this coaster. Sure, it's the fastest in the park - going straight up and straight down, but doesn't seem to be the most refined experience. On the day I was there, they had two of the three trains out of service due to mechanical issues- the result was standing in line for nearly an hour and a half. Of course, they also have fast pass, so the standby line tends to move VERY slowly on the days when they don't have at least two trains in service. Like several other coasters at Six Flags, they want pockets empty when going on the ride- which I understand giving that going straight up might cause items to fly out of your pocket- but it would be nice if they provided free lockers instead of charging you for it. They already got $$ from me coming into the park and eating lunch. I ddin't particularly appreciate getting nickel and dimed. The coaster itself is really short. Out, up, down, and back. Wish they'd have been a little more creative with what to do with the speed the train built up while coming straight down rather than just throwing on the brakes and taking you back to the station.

Yelp
This is one of the top roller coasters in here and yes it is the fastest in the US, but in the world no. I have ridden also Top Thrill Dragster and both have the same feel, but the restraints are different as one is a lap bar and the other is over the harness restraint. The line moves pretty fast as they run 3 trains to get there for the most part. You definitely have to ride the front as when you launch out, you feel like your face is going to come off. This ride does not break down as much as Top Thrill Dragster, but the line can get long as my brother and I waited an hour, but during Halloween it was 15 minute wait at night time which was fun.

Jasmine S.

Yelp
One of the best rollercoasters I've been on. After getting countless recommendations and testimonials from friends and family, the ride exceeded my expectations. Daunting at first, the speed, height, and adrenaline kick it gives you make the coaster worth it. I would recommend going on the coaster at night, as this is when the lines are shortest. During the day, the technical difficulties and long lines can make the wait times long. Even though the ride is a few seconds max, it's something you must attempt at least once if visiting the Six Flags in NJ.

Yelp
This coaster was the main reason we actually came to New Jersey as a whole. Every year my friends and I go to a different amusement park for my bday. Each year it's for a different reason and the desires change. This coaster has been on our list for years. Being the second fastest coaster in the world, it was all as great as they were hyping it up to be: it was broken most of the day. But at least we got to ride it once.

Yelp
Umm, what kind of crazy ride did I get tricked into getting on. This is the fastest craziest thing I have ever been on in life. I think my soul left my body for a few seconds. I really could not bear to open my eyes until the ride came to a complete stop. If you are an adrenaline junkie then this ride is for you. If you don't like to see your life flash before your eyes keep your feet on the ground.

Yelp
GET READY FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE. Excuse my yelling but you will only have 30 seconds to find something to hold on to before this ride shoots you into outer space. Kingda Ka goes from 0 to 120 mph in under 3 seconds. And if that's not enough for you, you will climb over 100 ft in the air. This is the TALLEST rollercoaster in America. Oh and better hope that you make it to the top, otherwise you will travel back to the start of the ride and prepare yourself for another, hopefully successful this time, launch. Best rollercoaster to take a noobie rider, they lose all year in any other coaster. But watch those lines, this ride always has one. And in the peak months the wait can be close to an hour. Good thing the ride takes seconds to complete or this wait could be the death of your six flags day
google avatar

Yelp
You don't feel any more intensity in any other experience in your life than on this ride. Sitting in the front you feel so much wind in your face, tears come from my eyes. 128 mph in 3.5 seconds, it doesn't get better than that. For adrenaline junkies, a must. Lines can be slow moving though like stated in other reviews and I only rode it more than once because I had the flash pass. Front row is the best, all other seats are game. Ride in the night too, it is much more exciting.

Yelp
My second favorite coaster built by Intamin. That's why I give this a full star. Even though, this ride reaches the speed of 128MPH. Just 8 more MPH away from Top Thrill Dragster. This ride reaches up to 456FT! Kingda Ka is the tallest roller coaster. It was built in 2005. When Top Thrill Dragster Surpassed Kingda Ka. Top Thrill Dragster was built in 2003. Top Thrill Dragster, Kingda Ka and Xcelerator are built by Intamin. Those three have a same 90 Degree. For Xcelerator it has a another 90 Degree angle when it goes down. But Top Thrill Dragster (TTD) and Kingda Ka (KK), have 90 Degrees too. But Xcelerator does not have the same angles when it goes down. Kingda Ka has a 270 Degree Spiral, and Top Thrill Dragster has a 270 Degree Spiral too! Like I said Kingda Ka goes to a speed of 128 within 3.5 Seconds! Arms Down, Head Back, And HOLD ON! Xcelerator 82MPH Height: 205 FT (62 m) Length: 2,202 ft (671 m) Capacity: 1,330 Riders Per Hour Acceleration: 0 82MPH (132 KM/H) in 2.3 seconds Human Height: 52 IN (132 CM) Kingda Ka Height: 456 FT (139 m) Drop: 418 ft (127 m) Length: 3,118 ft (950 m) Speed: 128MPH (206 KM/H) Capacity: 1,400 Riders Per Hour Acceleration: 0 to 128MPH (0 to 206 KM/H) in 3.5 seconds Human Height: 54 in (137 CM) Top Thrill Dragster Height: 420 FT (130 M) Drop: 400 FT (120 M) Length: 2,800 FT (850 M) Speed: 120MPH (190 KM/H) Capacity: 1,000 Riders Per Hour Acceleration: 0 to 120MPH (0 to 193 KM/H) In 4 Seconds Human Height: 52-78 In (132-198 CM) I love Intamin's Launched Coasters so MUCH! Keep up the good work -Junior D/JD :D

Yelp
Pros: height and speed . How many times can you go 128 MPH? Cons: ride is over in about 30 seconds Ride suffers a lot of breakdowns and line can be slow moving
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
I think the ride is as good as it is cracked up to be but the lines are a bit ridiculous and who wants to spend the extra money for a flash pass.

Peter C.

Yelp
Kingda Ka is one of the many legendary roller coasters that puts Great Adventure on the map for coaster enthusiasts like myself.

Yelp
Incredible coaster. Completely at maximum thrill. I went to Six Flags for Indigenous Peoples Day (yes, I am making a political statement on this review of Kingda Ka) weekend at the beginning of October. I was a little bit nervous about this coaster, but honestly no less nervous than I was for other coasters. I figured, worse comes to worst its like a minute and a half of my life. The line was actually not too bad. I think we were on line for about an hour and a half but I was with my friends so it was fun. Also, there was some themed plant life that jazzed up the waiting experience. When it was time to get on the coaster I felt numb. I was not scared or excited really. I couldn't feel anything. As we boarded the coaster I just thought about how when I went on a class trip to SFGA (Six Flags Great Adventure) in middle school I desperately wanted to be the kind of girl who rode Kingda Ka. Ok so we got on the coaster (which by the way is two people per row) and strapped in and then moved out of the entry area. Then it was time for the launch. The launch was moderately surprising but I could predict when it would happen. The launch was definitely the best part (it is also where the camera is). It shoots you out so fast you don't have time to be scared or even think anything. By the time I realized we had been launched, we were already at the top. I was not on a rollback (which is when the coaster doesn't make it over the hump and rolls backwards *safely* to the starting line and you get to go again). I kind of wish I had the cred associated with being on a rollback but whatever. Anyways, so by the time I even realized we had been launched we were at the top and about to head down. It was an incredible view of Beautiful Jackson New Jersey and of the SFGA Parking Lot. I still was in such shock that I was having an out of body experience. We went over the next hump and were delivered safely back to the start line. The coaster was awesome and I would totally ride again, but on a super hot and super crowded summer day it could be a different experience.

Yelp
Fantastic. 1) This is one of the best rides in Six Flags. 2) The line here is always long, make sure to come on a weekday, like Wednesday, to have a change to ride it multiple times. 3) Also, make sure to give it a shot at night. It is much better.

Yelp
This is one of the best rides in Six Flags!! If there's any ride one must go on first, it has to be this one. You'll never regret it and that's a promise. You'll keep on coming back and back and back! You'll never want to leave.
google avatar

Yelp
Exhilarating is the term that comes to mind when you think of Kingda Ka. Breathtaking also, from its gigantic existence to the 128 mph speed it gives off. After shooting out at 128, you climb 456 feet in the air and then plummet back to Earth on a 90 degree angle while still trying to catch your breathe. A must ride at the park for any thrill seeker. Always a line... Front row is the best.

Bianca T.

Yelp
BEST BEST BEST coaster ever! (Next to el toro of course) I go on it so many times and never get tired of it!! It's best in the dark too especially during fright fest. That take off is everything & it's not as scary as everyone thinks
