This was our third time staying at Kingfisher Bay Resort, and over the last few years we’ve stayed in different types of accommodation — rooms and two different villa styles — and have always found them great: comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The staff are consistently lovely, the facilities are fantastic, and there’s always so much on offer. We love the restaurants, the Sunset Bar, the tennis courts, the pool, and the evening light show — it’s always such a wonderful experience overall. Unfortunately, our final night this trip didn’t end on quite the same high note due to our experience at the Dune Restaurant. Our server wasn’t particularly attentive or engaged. To start, when we tried to order a beer on tap, we were told simply that we “could not get a beer on tap.” This struck us as odd, as we’ve dined here before and always been able to, and we could even see other guests with pints they’d brought from the Rainforest Bar. When I checked directly with the bar, I was told the tap was working fine and that the waiter was likely operating off old information of an earlier ‘issue’. However, at no point did the waiter mention there was an issue with the tap — had that been explained, or had he checked with the bar himself, we would have completely understood. Unfortunately, there was no clarification or follow-up, (I had to check with the bar myself, and find out we could in fact, get a beer on tap) and he didn’t return to check on us or take any further drink orders throughout the meal. Another disappointment was that I ordered the prawn sui mai but was served pork instead. This wasn’t realised when the food was brought out and I only realised after eating some — quite an unpleasant surprise as I’ve been vegetarian for over five years. It was an unfortunate final dining experience after an otherwise faultless stay. Despite this, we still absolutely love Kingfisher Bay Resort and will no doubt return again in the future — everything else was, as always, wonderful.

Just had a 3 night stay at one of the villas here. Cannot recommend it enough! Everything was so clean and the staff were fantastic. The beauty spots tour was the highlight of the trip, particularly Peter who made the trip what it was. He had so much knowledge of the island and nature and even taught me so much about the birds on the island as a novice birdwatcher! Lake McKenzie was the most stunning, beautiful clear water to swim in. Will definitely return to see more of the island.

The island is absolutely a stunning paradise surrounded by nature. The 4x4 day tour was amazing and definitely worth it, and watching the sunset from the beach bar was one of my favorite moments. That said, a few things could be better. We had issues with the guest upstairs making noise during the night, and although we reported it, the situation was not handled well and actually got worse. Our room was never cleaned during our stay, even after leaving the sign, and the mattress was very uncomfortable, clearly old and worn out. At the pool, it would be great to have an adults-only area since there were kids jumping everywhere despite the signs. The night light show is a nice idea, but the price doesn’t really match what you get. Overall, the resort is beautiful and worth visiting for the location alone. With some improvements in service and maintenance, it could easily be an excellent experience.

Not sure how this is classed as a 'resort'. Room was extremely out dated. No microwave and a tiny bath tub shower. Mattress was something I'd expect in a hostel. As for a buffet breakfast, what a load of garbage. $32 per person and i get better food in a FIFO camp. It cost just shy of $80 for 2 people to eat and a barrister made coffee. $22 per person for cereal. We paid $200 per night with a 30% discount and still would never stay back their again. The so called restaurant was average food with poor service. Really confused why people pay to stay their. We booked after a week on the east side thinking it'll be nice to relax in a resort for 3 nights. It was quite the opposite. We could not wait to leave. The only good thing there was the pub- the sand bar and bistro. Great food and reasonably priced.

I went here and was sooo excited, a 4 star hotel! But that was far far from our experience. The hotel needs love, the rooms were ok but again need love need a deep deep clean. The staff was overall not friendly and sometimes (jasmine and Keeley) down right hostile! And beyond rude. Our tour guide elka was the nicest person in the place and also a server here and there. The food was horrendous HORRENDOUS, it's a 4 star hotel, for 2 stars sure this would be what I expected but not a 4 star. Annnd not to mention the 2 inch gap under the door, that's why we shoved towels under the door so snakes and creepy crawlies couldn't come in, maybe they wouldn't have but I wasn't taking the risk. The drip coffee was good, so thank goodness for that! Was just really let down. Especially with all the good reviews. Can't beat the location plus it's really your only option for Fraser but ughh so sad

We recently had our wedding at Kingfisher Bay Resort, and it was truly the most amazing day of our lives! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The weather couldn’t have been better, the setting was breathtaking, and the staff went above and beyond to make every moment special. A special mention to Juli, our coordinator, who was simply incredible. She is beautiful inside and out, and her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made all the difference. I honestly can’t imagine our wedding without her. Every little detail was taken care of and more, allowing us to relax and enjoy the celebration knowing we were in the best hands. The whole Kingfisher Bay Resort team worked seamlessly together, and their warmth and professionalism shone through. We are beyond grateful to have chosen such a stunning venue with such an amazing team behind it. If you are considering Kingfisher Bay Resort for your wedding or any special event—don’t hesitate. It will exceed your expectations in every way!

Kingfisher Resort was the perfect base for exploring the beautiful island paradise of K’Gari. Although there were some issues and confusion with our reservation and tour bookings, manager Andrew got involved quickly to make it right for us ensuring we had a couple of amazing days of tours and experiences on the island. Ranger Ellen was also so knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour.

Rooms are looking even more dated than our last visit in 2022. The decor definitely needs a lift! The toilet seat was off centre and I see other reviews have note issues with toilet seats, Cleary no attention was paid to prior feedback! The refrigerator was dirty and an apple from a previous guest was still in there, so obviously the cleaners were sloppy, hopefully the sheets had been changed and the coffee cups washed.|The room was comfortable as was the bed. My wife asked for a lower pillow on day 2 of our stay and this wasn’t delivered to our room as promised. She followed up with reception on day and it was delivered.|The takeaway coffee was the worst I’ve had in a longtime. There was only 1 staff member making coffee for the dining room and guests wanting take away coffees so there were long waits.|Four of us went to the Asian restaurant on our last night. We had to contend with loud Eminem music full of expletives coming from the wedding reception next door. Fortunately this didn’t go on for long. The menu was limited and we struggled to find choices that we liked but all settled for something. I had a sizzling beef dish with a side of rice which was pretty lack lustre and the other 3 meals were pretty ordinary in quality, presentation and value. All up it cost me ~$150 and we were all disappointed. I understand there are additional costs running a business on an island and am happy to pay a premium but didn’t feel we got value for money.|Overall, we enjoyed our 4 days on the Island, the staff were friendly but there didn’t seem to be enough of them. Our lunch dishes were still on the bar leaner where we ate an hour after we left the area. Juli from Argentina is a rockstar! A real problem solver, very helpful and such a lovely, friendly person!|Will be reading all the latest reviews before we’d bother going back!
