The whole stay was a wonderful experience. Rooms were great. The garden was so beautifully lit up at night it was magical. Dinner in the dome was delicious. I highly recommend it. The hydro path and healing caves were so much fun and very relaxing. Everyone was friendly and attentive. A truly delightful get away!

We ate at the Kingfisher Resort last night for a a special occasion. Everything was great from the service to food . We decided to share a few dishes. The sable fish collars came first. Followed by the French onion soup with truffles and finally the saddle of lamb. The food was delicious. The lamb was so tender that you could cut it with a spoon . All of the dishes were very well seasoned and plated with care . We had the non alcoholic sparkling rose wine to go with dinner. This is by far one of the better near wines I have tried . We finished of the meal with the lemon tart which was a nice palette cleanser. We will be back soon too try out the other menu items soon. Thanks for the nice birthday meal .

My fiance and I had a very relaxing stay at the resort. The rooms were newly renovated and clean with stunning views and a cozy fireplace. The bed and bedding was also super soft. Loved that you had entry into the pool/sauna facilities. The grounds with the lights and fireplaces outside is amazing. Service was great, everyone was very kind. Nice to have a restaurant on site, the room service was quick and the plated dinner was tasty and filling.

Kingfisher is possibly THE BEST SPA in Canada. The location is perfection, the services are high quality done with expert hands, the hydropaths are a favourite experience - and now with the new Healing Caves... WOW! Literally better than expectation. Also, the hotel is outstanding, and for anyone that hadn't been, you MUST eat at the restaurant - even if you're only there for a day trip. So so good. 11/10 stars ⭐

First of all our first and only meal ( dinner at the ocean 7 ) was not delicious. It looked good but we decided not to eat there again ( we were here for 3 days) The spa was disappointing. I had both a pacific pearl and rmt both average. Also it is raining and windy here yet the resort states as guests we cannot use the lockers and to come in the robe provided in the room. Not fun at all and not at all respectful to guests. I know 1st world problems yet at these expensive rates very disappointing. The room was kept clean and although no Eros at all even no art in one room with white walls at least it was comfortable and clean. The advertisement is where Kingfisher spent alot as it looks as if the place is amazing with extraordinary food but it isn't. It's not a bad place but it is also not a world class spa or resort.

A true spa experience from the time you check in, through all aspects of the resort, through until you check out. We often come with a dog, and so we don't always get to stay in the nicer rooms, but at no point do you ever feel like you aren't at the spa, even in the older rooms. And when we do come down w/o our pup, we stay in the beachfront rooms and they are gorgeous. The garden area is so smartly laid out with water features and landscaping that creates the nice little nooks to hang out in, and it still maintains the feeling of solitude and relaxation, even if it's "busy". Everything about kingfisher is obviously intentional, but very well, and subtly executed. Food is also excellent. 5 stars there. And the spa experiences (massages, hydropath, etc) are fantastic. We have been every year in the fall, and we will continue to return every fall for the foreseeable future.

We stayed in the Eagle Suite: 301- waterfront and lower level. Suite was beautiful and we greatly appreciated the chairs on our deck so we could sit and take in the beautiful views. Suite is aptly named- we saw eagles every day. We were lucky enough to watch 4 bald eagles battling it out one morning. The food, wine, and cocktails were outstanding. We have eaten at several Michelin star restaurants all over the world and have very high expectations. Oceans7 restaurant impressed us- menu selections, food presentation and taste were wonderful. The cocktails were some of the best we have ever had! The spa was hit and miss for us. It is so frustrating when a masseuse simply rubs oil on your body and has zero skill, knowledge or massage technique. I fail to understand how putting oil on a body is considered a massage. Unfortunately this was our experience for 3 of our 6 massages (unfortunately for me I only had one good massage, whereas my husband had 2). Other treatments were great- facial and hydropath. Overall a wonderful long weekend spent in a beautiful resort. I would definitely recommend the Kingfisher Resort, just don't bother getting a massage.

I’ve always loved this spa and have found it a great place to relax. After eagerly anticipating the Healing Cave experience, I was very disappointed and regret spending so much money on it. The environment was nothing like the high-ceiling, natural-looking cave I expected based on the photos on your website. Each room was tiny—around 100-200 square feet—and felt very confining. Instead of a calming atmosphere, I was forced to watch low-quality videos on large screens, which did not contribute to relaxation at all. The music was overwhelming, and it only added to the discomfort of the loud machine noises in the rooms. Unfortunately, the experience felt like torture rather than healing. I found the temperature control erratic, making me feel either uncomfortably hot or cold. I was really hoping for a peaceful escape, but instead, I panicked and just wanted it to end. I felt like I wasted 1.5 hours of my life. The best part of the experience was the last segment, but even then, the large screen detracted from the ambiance. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who struggles with claustrophobia. I left feeling traumatized rather than relaxed, which is the opposite of what I expected from a spa experience. I’ve enjoyed Kingfisher in the past, but this visit has left me feeling very disappointed. Improvements are definitely needed for the Healing Cave to align with the tranquil experience your spa typically provides.

Yelp
The new Healing Caves are such a divine treat!!! Feeling the energy and after affects of this experience! I can hardly wait to return! Such great addition to an already wonderful local treasure!

Yelp
This is still our favorite spa getaway in the world. We've been coming for 20 years, and the spa and hotel experience is always perfect. We did the hydropath and massages and booked the romance suite down on the water. That suite is enormous, and while the tub in it looks neat, after a whole day of being in the water, we didn't need a bath. ;) Everything is freshly renovated, and after all these years, the spa looks just as clean and well-kept as it always was. I actually prefer this place to Canyon Ranch or the Mission Sonoma. I know. That sounds crazy but I do love it here. Note: there is a separate Yelp listing for the restaurant. It's a bit hit-and-miss.

Yelp
Our stay at Kingfisher was fantastic! We were in the penthouse and it offers the kind of experience you would expect, with only a few rough edges (more on that later). Throughout our stay, from checkin to checkout, room service, etc staff were friendly and attentive. The view of the bay and mountains across the water from the room were beautiful. The grounds are well kept with a lot of attention paid to the flowers in the central area (where there are about a dozen fire pits that are turned on every evening. We weren't able to book time in the Spa, though it seemed to be popular with other guests coming/going there frequently. The pool is a salt water pool, somewhat heated (our stay was in early September so not too cool outside) and there's a steam room and dry sauna. The penthouse was such a great experience that we opted to spend a lot of time in it. There's all the usual things you'd expect in a hotel room (ironing board + iron, coffee maker, etc) but the room surprised us with the tech it has: - heated floors - built in sound-system in the ceiling of the living room (3 speakers) and bathroom (2 speakers), each room can be Airplay'd to separately or together. Has a decent amount of bass, too! One of our favorite features. - a Woodbridge electronic toilet+bidet combo, with a separate control pad to manage all of its features. Probably our favorite feature of the room . The toilet area also has a Qi charging plate built in to charge your phone while you're using the toilet (a nice touch) - electronic curtains controllable from a pad by the bed. Love being able to open/close the curtains from the bed. The room can be nearly blacked out with the curtains closed The patio outside the room facing the water was spacious, having 4 chairs and two small tables. Plenty of room to move around out there. One of the things that kept us in the room for meals was the large dining table that looks out the two big windows over the water and mountains--comparable view to inside the Ocean7 restaurant but we can control the music, cut out the noise from a restaurant setting, etc. Room service was consistently excellent both in speed and options (we had breakfast twice, dinner once, and some bottles of wine separately.) The finish in the room is superb, really immaculate work done by the folks who built it. The furniture was great, from the couch, purple chairs, dining room chairs, and the two Herman Miller chairs (really great additions to the room. The bed is good, not too soft. They include a Mon Chateau throw blanket that my partner fell in love with, and we used when sitting outside for a sunrise. The TV seems nice but we never used it. The room has a full kitchen (full size fridge and freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, cutlery and cutting boards, silverware, selection of plates and bowls--just missing a normal oven). This was actually great to have over a couple days. The bathroom is extremely spacious, nice tub and excellent shower that easily fits two. The backlit rock in the shower is a great unique touch. We identified a few miner rough edges in the room: - The dining table chairs need some kind of a pad on their feet to minimize the noise when moving them - The AC system is more complicated than it needs to be (3 things look like they control the AC unit in the main room, and the binder for the room that has instructions for everything says to use one of them, but the remote is the only way to make the AC actually turn on) - lighting around the mirrors in the bathroom could be improved so they are brighter. - there's no food or alcohol/drinks in the room. Overall, it's a lot of money for the room, but in our opinion it's a truly amazing experience at a great resort with an impressive restaurant (Ocean7) and great room service offerings. We will definitely come back to Kingfisher and book the penthouse again (but more more days!)

Yelp
This place is beautiful. It's out on the ocean. It is not a place to for a whole day. They have a nice restaurant with outdoor pods set up, so at night or in the winter, it keeps the weather out. It's worth looking up. Unfortunately, we booked the pod for dinner, and we had to struggle to book a time for their underground spa. So we had to cancel the restaurant to be able to get in. We called weeks in advance and could not get us in for massages or other services. We did manage to get an appt for pedicures and their underwater spa. It is actually really amazing down there but they really do rush you through each area and someone is always standing around the corner so you justbstart to relax in a hot tub and in 5 minutes they come back and tell you to get out and go to the next section with various showers. You don't even have enough time to try them all (there is only), and they're telling you to move to the next area. It wasn't quite relaxing because as soon as you were just about to feel relaxed, you just pushed through and out the other side. They really should allow people more time in each area and allow people to move to each location at their own pace or give people more time in each space. The price for all the rushing was not really worth it. The woman who did my pedicure was just wonderful and I had a great conversation with her, and she did a great job. The gift shop we found the staff ignored us entirely and werw abit stuck up when we were making our purchase. Almost like we were an inconvenience and interrupting their conversation. We were able to get into our reservation at the restaurant in time and this is worth the visit. It has huge windows overlooking the ocean. It's beautifully decorated and had really tasty food. I would definitely return to the restaurant. I would skip the spa.

Connie V.

Yelp
Visited the resort for a special birthday. We were treated so rudely by the restaurant host Richard. He fawned all over walk-in patrons and gave us who had a reservation only attitude. Took us 45 minutes to receive menus, apparently because they were inundated by walk-ins. There was no acknowledgment of my birthday at all. I would think twice about celebrating any special occasion in the restaurants. The resort itself is ok. I expected a more relaxing environment...children and families are allowed, so it is not that quiet. Plus the resort shuts down at 10:00 pm, so both nights we were shooed away from the fire pits. The oceanside rooms are a bit dated, but the view was great.

Yelp
Everything about the Kingfisher is extraordinary/. From the waterfront suites to the food to the spa to the serenity garden to the unbelievable tranquility of the atmosphere, this is the perfect location to rest and replenish or simply enjoy nature. A hidden jewel on Vancouver Island. I've been coming here for the past 20 years, and it just keeps getting better, if that's even possible.

Yelp
Wow! What a fabulous experience! The Room: From the moment we arrived and checked into our ocean view room, we immediately began to relax. A beautiful view, the room and bathroom were clean to perfection with and a small kitchen bar area. Comfy chairs and a working desk area. The mattress, pillows and linens were superb! Grounds and Garden area: We were anxious to explore the grounds and headed to the garden area surrounding "Aqua", billed as a bistro but I would say a fine dining restaurant at the resort. Every direction you looked was picture perfect, leaving you feeling peaceful in the presence of outdoor beauty. There are an assortmen of gas fire pits throughout the garden and some overlooking the ocean. The Spa: There were also comfly soft robes in our room to wear to the spa. We decided to try the Pacific Mist - Spa & Hydropath experience. It was divine! The warm mineral jets at each station were completely soothing followed by a hot sauna and if you chose, a cold waterfall rinse. Then you moved to the river walk area that features warm mineral water with an assortment of jets, followed by a second river walk in cold water to further stimulate your senses. The next step was a waterfall type mineral hot tub with soothing jets in a grotto like setting. To finish our experience, we enjoyed another soothing jetted bathtub with a special mineral scrub mixture. Once you are done rinsing, you enter a calming type sunroom with meditation music and refreshments. The spa experience was 100% worth booking! Pool: If we hadn't booked dinner so close to the spa experience, we could have enjoyed a lovely outdoor pool facing the garden area. Dining at Aqua and Ocean 7: After our spa treatment we readied for dinner and headed to the resort restaurant passing a lovely outdoor patio with lots of large umbrellas for shade-we were again impressed. Upon entering Aqua, we were taken aback with the beauty and design elements of the bar area before entering the Ocean 7 dining room. The staff were delightful and took us right to our seats by the window. We were greated immediatley with water and an inquiry for drinks. There are larger raised booths that appear to seat 6 or more. We continued to be in awe once our caprese salad appetizer arrived, through our main courses of seafood pasta, steak and desert. All were created and done to complete perfection The service was superb! The wine selection and recommendations were spot on for food parings. This was the best resort experience we have ever had. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Yelp
Beautiful setting only outdone by the thoughtful menu. The food was excellent. Service quite good. On the pricy side but you definitely get what you paid for. I will definitely return

Yelp
Lovely setting. Beautiful views and gardens. Thumbs down to the customer service on the phone and also in person (except for Megan our server). Firstly, the online booking is a challenge as it's not user friendly and seems to take forever, but when you call you're in a queue and this was lengthy the 3 times I called, and I found the responses were brusque bordering on rude and pretentious. This attitude was also encountered when paying for spa services. They did not ask how everything was or if we enjoyed it or anything at all. Just insert your card and see ya! My review here is for the hydropath. If you've enjoyed the Scandinave Spa this is not like that. What we didn't realise for 125$/hour is that it's inside, no views or fresh air. The attendant was pleasant and gave us instructions on how it worked moving from one area to the other. She also moved our paper cups of water from one station to the next. The place is inside a building but it's made from cement, like a grotto. Not sure why I kept thinking of Hugh Hefner, but that was the vibe I got. Maybe all the cement and pipes etc. It was better after the eucalyptus steam room, with the cold plunge pool and waterfall shower. Seemed a bit more spacious, but looking up at all the open pipes ( for ventilation) and the driftwood and fake plants just didn't do it for us. Our favourite part was the 'Cocoon' type bath pods where you could scrub yourself with sea salt and then shower off. You were supplied with a robe and sandals and a towel. Hairdryers were available in the ladies change rooms and also a locker for your things. The relaxation room at the end had mint tea and chairs lined up like you were at the beach, with windows to look outside. Nice touch but just seemed like an office room with lounges. We didn't stay. There was a balcony, the railing wasn't sturdy when we leaned on it. The concept is nice being on the sea but I think it needs an update. When checking out it would be nice if some of the products used were sitting at the cash register. Something like 'how did you enjoy your hour of relaxation? We have the scrub or the scents if you'd like to take any home with you' . Missed opportunity. We probably won't come back for that service. My takeaway is that they need a refresher on customer service both in person and especially on the phone.

Yelp
This resort is absolutely lovely. The resort offers beautiful rooms with outdoor sitting areas with a view of the ocean and absolutely gorgeous gardens. The food is very good and the service is high level. We stayed in a courtyard room with the garden at our footsteps and had a view of the ocean. Loved the room layout. We are several times at the restaurants - Ocean 7 and it's adjoining bistro for dinners, lunch and breakfast and they were excellent every time. The service is impeccable, making our stay all the more enjoyable. We are definitely returning. Also, the location is private yet so convenient to exploring the coast.

Gil H.

Yelp
Delightful location with terrific ocean view. Buildings and hotel room was clean, tidy and pleasant to spend time in. The garden areas are nicely landscaped and well kept. Staff were friendly, service oriented and responsive.

Doug A.

Yelp
Our trip to Kingfisher was bliss. We loved every minute of it. The whole property is set up like a spa. Rivers and ponds run through a spectacular garden. Spa music plays from hidden speakers. The spa is incredible. The renovated room we stayed in was first class. The food at the restaurant is top notch. Highly recommend!

Kira L.

Yelp
UPDATE: I went for another trip to Kingfisher two weeks ago, and my experience was not quite as good as usual due to the state of the room we got. We stayed in an Orca suite with an ocean view. The view is wonderful, no complaints there! However, the suites are getting older and this one was very musty. My allergies acted up this time and I was sneezing and all stuffed up when I was in the room. We had to open the door to let in fresh air whenever we were in the room. In addition, the light fixture in our hallway started leaking, and we woke up one morning to find a big puddle on the floor. We called the front desk to let them know, and it took someone a few hours to come. The maintenance guy said it was from the tub upstairs and there was nothing he could do until the people checked out tomorrow. This made no sense to me, why would they not check out a leak?! We were bothered by it, and it would only make sense to check the upstairs unit to see what was going on. Eventually they did talk to the people upstairs, and said that they asked them not to use their tub and that our leak would stop. The leak did not stop so we had wet towels on the floor for the rest of our stay - and a constant dripping sound. The maintenance guy also said that it was fine to use the light that was leaking, which seemed pretty unwise to me, so we didn't use it. The front desk was kind and understanding about the issue, and gave both of us $100 off our package. I would normally expect to me moved to a different room in a hotel if something like this were to happen, but they did not move us. Maybe they didn't have any free rooms? Based this experience, I would recommend staying in one of their newly renovated rooms, and avoiding the older ones. The resort is pretty perfect apart from the old rooms, and I'll definitely be back to stay in a new room!

Andrea P.

Yelp
First the good: amazing views, well maintained green spaces, good customer service while on site, and a very nice pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room area. Also, I really enjoyed my "mermaid wrap" at the spa. Rooms however, were quite outdated and not cleaned very well! We found bottle caps behind our chair and hair in the sink. Towels and toiletries were not replaced after the room was cleaned on day 2. Customer service before arrival was terrible - I sent an email inquiry that went unaddressed (still waiting for a reply!) and another member of my group spent 40 minutes on hold on their phone line trying to get said inquiry answered. Your spa experience ends when you get to the change room. It has more of a public pool change room vibe than a spa and is in need of an upgrade. Finally, the food in their new restaurant was less than stellar -- but I'll review that separately. Unfortunately, overall I was underwhelmed.

Christa M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for a couple of days. I did contact the general manager and his email was full of excuses and offered me only a free night (yea I'm going to travel all the way from Vancouver to come back here for 1 free night). How about the fact I gotta work for my ankle being injured? Here are my issues: 1. Our tv was almost impossible to see because it was so old and you couldn't even increase the brightness. 2. Our breakfast was terrible. For the cost of it.. go elsewhere. We had an eggs Bennie that was explained to make sure the white were cooked properly and they were totally raw. Then she got us a new one and that was over cooked!! Do you think they gave us a deal or took a percentage off the bill? Nope! 3. Make sure you bring snacks because they don't have any snacks other then their really expensive restaurant to eat at. 4. After doing the spa, you'll probably be hungry after. Do they have a snack at the lounge after spending a fortune? Nope! Just Luke warm tea. 5. It snowed while we were there. They completely didn't shovel anything while we were there (the manager tried to shrug it off) but who doesn't shovel the parking lot and walkways ?!?! We almost smashed our vehicle trying to leave the driveway and needed two guys to push us up the driveway. Didn't even try to plough their parking area at all. 6. Don't try going around 8pm or later because nobody is ever at the front desk! We had to wait over 15 minutes to be helped! 7. Do you think they would have shoveled the area you walk to the elevator ? Nope! I twisted my ankle trying to walk to the elevator!! They didn't even shovel it once the entire day. 8. Then after all this... do you think the lady at the front desk would ask how was our stay? Nope! But they certainly were quick to take my money. Keep in mind, the photo below was taken around 11am. Imagine them not shovelling all day on how bad this walkway was? Huge waste of money! Save your time and money and if you need to get away go to Brentwood bay spa and resort in Victoria! They definitely know how to treat their clients the best.

Sasha R.

Yelp
Don't bother coming if you have children. So upset that they have limited pool hours afree we spent $3k over the weekend there and then asked to leave the pool that was PACKED with kids and their families so we didn't even get to enjoy the hot tub at all as we didn't feel comfortable joining due to Covid. Even after everyone left no one was in the pool and they still wouldn't let us stay after being told we could ask and it wouldn't be an issue.

Amy T.

Yelp
At first I thought, the price seem really high, but when I had the full experience at Kingfisher Resort and Spa, I would easily pay it again. My family and I along with some of our friends wanted a quiet, restful vacation. The location was far enough away from our hectic Vancouver life, but close enough to reach within a few hours by ferry and car. Our room was on the 3rd floor, which is essentially the floor unit with glass patio doors facing the ocean. Close enough to hear the waves and easy enough for our daughter to run outside to play. The spa was my absolute favorite spa in all of Vancouver Island. If you stay at the Kingfisher, make sure you book the Hydropath. You will not regret it! The staff were so friendly and guided us every step of the way. You just need to book the appointment, show up in your bathing suit under the robe provided to you in the room. There's only going to be a few people each session so it never feels crowded. First you start at the warm waterfall cave with 4 or 5 different water streams gently soothing your body. Next there's a eucalyptus sauna for respiratory health and soothing throat irritation. The third section is a cold waterfall shower, which you can use or skip, and then go through their warm jet tub and end with cool water. It felt invigorating to go through this process once or twice. By the way, throughout all of this, staff helped pass some cold towels and cups of cold water to cool you down. The 4th section is a salt water pool you can soak in for a bit and with a light waterfall. The last and final station is an area to use their sea salt scrub to exfoliate your body. Finally, you rinse off and either go to the relaxation room to rest or go back to the hotel. If you have the time, go check out the room and enjoy some snacks as well as tea. Writing this out makes me want to book my next trip back.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay here, the new building offers great modern finishes. The staff are all so friendly and the resort offers amazing facilities. The garden is beautiful and can't wait to come back and stay here again!

Bailey M.

Yelp
I love it here. As I write this I'm laying in the super plush bed listening to the waves crash upon the shore. Today has been one of the most relaxing days yet. We enjoyed the hydropath and this is an experience you surely don't want to miss. Pure and utter bliss. The Silk Road tea was an added bonus: will be purchasing on my way out the door tomorrow. Followed the hydropath up with an hour massage. This experience is where I'm docking one of the stars unfortunately. My massage therapist was slightly abrasive and loud, a divergence from the typical spa experiences I've had. She was abrupt and began the massage quickly. It is was very, very rough. I did ask for it, however, but definitely not relaxing. Painstakingly rough. It also ended very awkwardly and hurriedly and I felt as though she is wanted to get it over with. Not necessarily the ideal experience when you're receiving a massage. After the massage we went outside to enjoy the saltwater pool, steam cave, and hot tub. The pool is a wonderful temperature, with the perfect salinity. The steam cave is warm and relaxing, and the hot tub is delightful. I can't speak for the sauna as we didn't use it, but I'm sure it's up to par. We have gone to the pool twice already today and are planning to hit it up before we leave tomorrow. All in all, we came here for a birthday, and have since agreed to make this a yearly pilgrimage. I highly recommend.

Paris S.

Yelp
Had a week off and made sure to book the hydro path spa experience. I'm honestly not a big spa person as it sometimes feels a bit too serious for me. This experience was a game changer for me and I wish I lived in the area so I could enjoy it more often! My mom and I had a wonderful guide who helped us through the process and all the different hydro therapy. As I understand it, they recently renovated the space and it was so cool. It looks like you're going through an underground forest and because of the amazing timing of the rooms, you actually feel like you're in there alone because you never see anyone else in there with you. We couldn't help but laugh through some of the experiences as I said before I'm not a super serious spa person but it didn't take away from the experience, but with a significant other it could definitely be pretty romantic experience. I've already recommended this to my friends, family and coworkers and will do what I can to convince others to take a weekend getaway to stay here and get the full resort and restaurant experience in 2019!

Michael G.

Yelp
Great view, delicious food, and wonderful service = a unique dining experience. This is a gorgeous resort on the water with views of the channel and mountains in the midst of a great garden, replete with many varieties of flowers. Dining in this stimulating atmosphere is memorable. Combine fine food, fresh ingredients and attentive service, and you have a superb dinner. This is a must-visit up-Island on Vancouver Island.

Matthew F.

Yelp
Our family of 4 had a 4 night stay on the other side of the island fall through due to quality and decided to split the time with a place in Tofino and here at Kingfisher and we were not disappointed. We booked a 2 Queen room on the ground floor of their brand new building. It was a beautiful room. Comfortable beds, fantastic rain shower, heated floors in the bathroom and a door right out to the courtyard with two Adirondack chairs on the patio. Oh, and the courtyard, that was beautiful and manicured with running water and brick pathways. Now the restaurant. No offense to other resorts, but the food usually isn't very good. Kingfisher's restaurant has some of the best food I've had anywhere. It tastes amazing and it's beautiful. We only ate on the patio, so I can't say about the Ocean 7 side, but everything we had was amazing, particularly the Duck Confit. So good. Lastly, the spa. We didn't do any of the paid treatments (I'm sure they are to the same standard as everything else though), but we did love the use of the pool, hot tub and saunas. The steam cave sauna in particular was my favorite. If you have kids under 13 (our daughter is 9), they do limit their use of the pool to 9-10am and 6-8pm. The changing rooms are top notch with clean benches, great showers and tons of clean towels. They even have some relaxing music in there. For a last minute booking, I could not have been more pleased. Our whole family had a great time. Thank you Kingfisher.

Yelp
My wife and I come here every Christmas. The service is excellent. The staff is focused, attentive and very pleasant to deal with. The restaurant management was fantastic as well the restaurant staff. They are highly organized in all areas. The "crew" are polite and talkative which is such a plus around the property. A special shout out to the wonderful Ladies up front and to "Shamus" at the restaurant on the property who provided phenomenal service that MANY other establishments up and down the Island could learn from. We will always come here, We will always speak HIGHLY of the King Fisher in Courtenay BC. P.S. The hot pool, etc staff were also great and very clean especially regarding Covid, the whole place is DIALED IN!!!!!!

Yelp
I stayed at the Kingfisher over the weekend in the end of September 2014. It had been recommended to me as a nice hotel and great spa. I stayed in one of the simple ocean view rooms (furthest from the beach) near to the lobby. The rooms are not the most up to date but they are nice and clean. I especially liked the gas fireplace in the room which you could use to heat your room, made it feel quite cosy. One thing I noticed about the rooms is that the walls are quite thin. You can hear loud talkers in adjacent rooms as well as heavy walkers in the walkway above the floor. It wasn't terrible but noticeable. I would recommend a room on the 2nd floor for a better view and less noise. I took full advantage of enjoying the spa pool and hot tub every day. Nice that it opens at 7:00am and closes at 10:00pm. Spa Review: I enjoyed the hydro-path and would recommend it to others. In hindsight after doing it I would have booked it as a package with something else, I noticed some package specials after the fact. I also had a pedicure after the hydropath. The pedicure was ok. I chose the option with the hot stone massage, however unfortunately how they have you positioned you only get your feet and front of your legs massaged. Maybe next time I'll try the facial.

Yelp
My friends and I had a lovely stay at this resort. The Hydropath and spa treatments were relaxing. However this was all tarnished by significant errors in billing at the restaurant on not just 1 occasion but repeated over the 2 days we were there and continued after we left! We were double billed for food we did not consume on the 2 times we went to the bistro and then again at the restaurant. As stated in a previous post - check your bill!!! This includes checking your charges at checkout. Ultimately we were sad that such a relaxing experience was marred by this inefficiency. I will not return.

Yelp
We have stayed at various resorts in Nanaimo island. We decided that we would go with one of the top rated spa resort at Courtenay for our recent end of summer trip. We were not disappointed! Check in went smooth and swift. Our room was beach front with newly renovated interior which blown us away the minute we walked in. Our cleaners were more than ready to help with any requests we had. And always with a smile. The Spa was one of the highlights of Kingfisher. I enjoyed the most relaxing 90 mins massage ever in my life. Daniella was my Masseuse, and did an excellent job to keep me relaxed the entire time. I used resort credits for this. I wish I had spent more time exploring the Spa with other packages. The Hydropath was our absolute favorite and it's an experience like no other spas could offer. We've been to Grotta Spa in Parksville (which is considered a world class Spa) and Kingfisher's Spa is way better. Whether you wanted to unwind, relax or just have a good time with your friends or significant other, you will have a wonderful time at the Hydropath. Another highlight of the resort is their Ocean 7 restaurant. We were blown away by their king crabs (estimated at 14 lbs+) which was spectacular. I've never had better king crabs anywhere else, period. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend getaway. Thank you to the wonderful staff at King Fisher for taking good care of us! We will be back real soon.

Yelp
We didn't stay at this resort. We visited their restaurant. The servers were very polite, pleasant and efficient. We ordered the breakfast with banana bread (square muffin), natural yogurt with a swirl of honey on top and piled high with fruit. I had a delicious latte with my breakfast. While the melons were not very ripe the rest of the fruit was tasty. The gardens of the Kingfisher are lovely and feature gas camp fires with seating arranged around them. It appears to be an older resort, the restaurant at least has been extensively renovated. We've only been to the Kingfisher for breakfast, so I can't speak to their dinner menu.

Yelp
I purchased a travelzoo deal which included 2 nights stay, a spa credit and a dining credit at The Breakwater restaurant. Our overall experience was splendid. What a beautiful location! The Pacific Mist Hydropath was so damn wonderful. It looks like something out of a movie. The lagoon basement in some rich dudes mansion. I cannot properly express how much we loved that thing. And the spa credit we received with our deal almost covered one persons fee. That was cool. The spa building also has an heated, partially covered outdoor pool and uncovered hot tub, sauna, and steam cave that is available for guest use until 10 pm. We used the crap out of those. The staff at both the hotel and the spa were lovely. Check in and check out was a breeze. Our room did seem pretty dated for my expectations. "Resort & Spa" has a certain ring to it that lead me to believe it would be slightly fancier? It was completely acceptable, I just thought it would be a little nicer.

Yelp
Spa? Check. Resort? Check. Perfect wedding anniversary trip? Check. We've heard many great things about this oceanside resort and spa, so we figured we needed to scope this place out. Perfect timing because our wedding anniversary was just around the corner. They have specials and packages available on their site as well as in the Vacation packages section of the BC Ferries website. Don't take this place the wrong way. It's not a destination for just couples, although we saw plenty during our stay there. It's also a great place for bride-to-be's and her gals to get some serious R&R before the big day. We stayed in the Denman suite, and it offered a fantastic view of the ocean. The suites were laid out in a way where each guest had unobstructed views from their suite. The bedding was super soft, and upon check in, they printed out our appointment at the spa. Yes, they advised us to make spa appointments ahead of time to guarantee a spot. And sure enough, the day we arrived there were no options to change our appointment time. There is a parking garage that is constantly patrolled, and you could also opt for surface parking if your room is closer. We found so many oysters along the shoreline, and tons of fish jumping out of the water too. Such a cool place to be if you're looking to relax and be one with nature. The Pacific Mist Hydropath is their signature spa service, where you take an entire hour to hang out and go through the numerous water stations to detoxify, remineralize, and relax. I feel they deserve 5 stars because we brought an expensive wine up with us to drink, and we needed a decanter. So we called front desk to see if the restaurant would lend one to us. Within minutes, somebody knocked on our door with a decanter! What great service! We both felt rejuvenated after our 2 night stay, and definitely recommend their Pacific Mist Hydropath.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a long weekend anniversary getaway. We had a package which included an oceanfront suite, spa treatments and dining. Our room was absolutely lovely and the view from the balcony was spectacular. Three eagles and some otters provided constant entertainment. Also, if you are looking out around 9:00pm you can see cruise ships heading north along the inside passage. Our spa treatments were very good, but the hydropath was amazing. We loved it so much we wanted to go multiple times but it was all booked up so we will have to return and book far ahead. We had excellent meals in the dining room. The breakfasts were particularly delicious - the whole grain blueberry pancakes and the brie and strawbery french toast brioche - yum! To the people who wear their spa robes to the dining room for dinner - really??? So why 4 stars? They encourage you to not wear jewelry for the spa treatments but they do not provide room safes. A neighbour's room service tray sat outside the room for 18 hours - gross! They do not appear to have any type of bell service or if they do, it was never offered. And lastly, the only way to get to the ocean is to leap from rock to rock during low tide. It definitely precludes romantic walks on the beach.

Yelp
We found a travelzoo deal for the Kingfisher Resort and we weren't exactly sure what to expect. I think it's best to break down this particular review into different categories to explain the overall 3 star rating. The accommodations can vary greatly depending upon the type of room that you get. The travelzoo featured an ocean view room. This side of the resort is a little older and could use further updating. It didn't have all of the amenities that you would expect from a spa and resort, but it wasn't too bad overall. My biggest gripe was that the shower had very little water pressure and it wasn't the most comfortable experience taking a shower. The atmosphere was very relaxed and they welcome their guests to just sit back and relax in their bathrobes throughout the resort. The views were amazing with the waterfront being so close to the resort! With all that being said, the accommodations get 3 stars. We dined at restaurant and weren't all that impressed with the selections. It was quite pricey and I wasn't too impressed with the flavors. I'd give the food selections a 2 star. The best part of the resort was the spa. It looks a little deceiving because the spa building doesn't look all that big and I wasn't expecting a whole lot. We first tried the hydropath treatment and it was awesome. You get a guided treatment of a mixture of pools and baths that help to relax you and alleviate the aches and pains from a normal day. I was exhausted by the end of the hydropath, but in a good way. Totally relaxed and I slept like a baby. I followed that up with a massage the next day. Another great experience and I have nothing bad to say about it. The spa package gets a 5 star rating for me. Had we paid the extra money for the Oceanside suite, I definitely would have given the resort 4-5 stars. The suites are more modern and have more amenities and that could have made a huge difference in the overall rating. Despite that, we still had a great time and were amazingly surprised at the weekend getaway.

Yelp
I have been here 3 times and I just can't get enough of this amazing resort. Their services are awesome and the view is incredible. I have done the hydra-path twice and have also had a pedicure, couples massage and eaten at their restaurant all 3 times. I will be back! ~ Tammra Broughton - RNCP / ROHP, NLPP - Living Proof Nutrition & NLP

Yelp
Here's what you do...catch a plane from either Edmonton, Calgary or Vancouver and fly straight into Comox Airport on Vancouver Island. Grab a taxi and drive down to this Resort...20 minutes tops. Check in for a couple nights and experience an incredible short visit of relaxation, massage, yoga, Aqua therapy and perfect food presentations that are very rare to duplicate anywhere I have ever been. Add excellent service from a young, polite, attentive staff and you will definitely make this place one of your best relaxing getaways you will ever visit. The rooms are simple but you can upgrade if you prefer. The only small negative thing I can say is they need to upgrade their TVs in the rooms to HD Flat Screens... I had problems following the hockey puck while watching the Winter Olympics on the grainy old fashioned TV's! All in all a must to visit!

Yelp
Beautifully kept grounds with a great view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was well worth the money and time. The staff was very friendly but the claim to fame here was the view from room. We never made it to the spa so I can't comment on how the services were, but the facilities looked great. The room was not spectacular, nor fancy, but it wasn't low end either. It was, however, very clean and comfortable. The only complaints I can think of, and they are silly complaints to make, is that I had to walk down to the restaurant or the oceanfront building to get ice for the ice bucket. Also, there was a mini fridge with a coffee maker, but there was no microwave. Both items, very minor and I still can't help but give the Kingfisher five stars. I will definitely return.

Yelp
When you first drive in it doesn't look nearly as amazing as it actually is! Two days, 4 Spa treatments, three meals and great company made it a WONDERFUL trip. Can't wait to go again!

Yelp
FANTASTIC! We selected to stay there only from searching the web...we were thrilled, we were more impressed in person. My wife had the HydroPath spa...fabulous were her words. Do take in the spa, Ocean 7, resort grounds and ocean side. We left after 4 days very relaxed, and that's a hard task. Staff and services were excellent.

Yelp
The Hydropath Spa was a wonderful experience. Their restaurant was excellent as well. They ocean views and garden were a treat to see as well.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped at this resort yesterday and had lunch. We had a lovely girl named Alex who looked after us and helped recommend dishes to try . Both dishes were amazing. Highly recommend the restaurant and thankyou Alex for being so friendly and helpful hope you are there next time we stop in. I have told my husband that we will be staying at the resort next time so we can be pampered like all the guests appeared to be .

Yelp
Watch out for waiting staff "self-tipping" themselves on your restaurant bill. Happened to us (staff wrote in a $10 tip - never seen that before!) and we caught it when we checked out. Cast a shadow on an otherwise pleasant stay.

Yelp
It was a cold stormy day, we were seated in the most amazing ocean view, and we watched the ocean roar as we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at the Kingfisher Inn. It was a feast for our eyes and stomach... with over 100 items on the menu , all you can eat for $30 a head it was the BEST brunch I have ever had. Were talking scallops, smoked salmon, muscles, clams, bacon, hash brows, squid salad, green salads, smoked salmon eggs benny, personal omelet bar with chef, cereal, danishes, fresh squeezed juices, and save room for the wall of DESERTS.... only to name a FEW of the items we tried! Needless to say, I am drooling just thinking about the next visit to the Kingfisher's in... walking into the "Kingfisher Room" and being greeted by a fest of fresh sea foods and delicacies... I think we went back at least 3 times for seconds.... And please do not leave with out trying the BEST SEAFOOD CHOWDER EVER!!!

Karen W.

Yelp
Took our children here last Sunday for lunch as they were visiting from Edmonton Alta, we had a fabulous meal. Best seafood chowder ever and presentation was picture perfect. I loved my mussels done in Thai curry had the right amount of spice. My hubby had the duck confit Mac and cheese , was delicious . We spent some time taking photos around this picturesque spot and can hardly wait to go back and spend a night .

Yelp
My wife and I booked a night at the Kingfisher the first week of August using their package that combines accommodation, hydro path, and dinner. Everything about our stay was delightful! The room was clean and had everything we needed; the view from our room was spectacular, overlooking the ocean; the hydro path was fun and relaxing; and the meal was divine. The Kingfisher is a thoughtfully put together resort, and the business is very well run from a customer service perspective.

Yelp
My sister purchased 2 getaways through Travelzoo since there were 4 adults (with 2 small kids) going and we upgraded one of them to an ocean front suite at $75/night. The purchase price included a spa and dining credit for each room. The rooms. The standard room is your basic hotel room with complimentary coffee and tea, comfy beds and a nice enough bathroom. The TV was really old and we thought our vision was going. The upgraded ocean front suite was awesome! I don't recall the name of it but it featured a king size bed in a separate room and a queen size murphy bed in the living area. It had a mini-kitchen, jet bath tub, comfy couch and arm chair and an updated flat screen TV with DVD player. You can step out of the sliding glass doors and onto the beachfront. There were sea lions barking in the ocean but you couldn't hear them with the glass doors closed. We did the Pacific Mist HydroPath which is their signature spa service and it was LOVELY...thoroughly enjoyed it. An attendant guides you through the different stations, leaving you alone and coming back just in time to take you to the next one with instructions on what will happen. We had dinner at the restaurant with a 2 yr old and a 4 month old. It was formal but not stuffy and they put us away from the general crowd. They do have a kids menu and crayons to keep them occupied. The food was good, nothing too spectacular but tasty. Well seasoned and portioned. The grounds were well maintained and all the staff were lovely. I would definitely be back!

Yelp
Can I please live here! The view, the lovely cheerful helpful staff, OMG! The hydro path!!! Brilliant! And oh thank you for accommodating our allergies! We are already planning our next visit.

Yelp
A real find on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Lovely setting, beautiful room, and food to die for. Go when they are offering the seafood buffet, and throw away your preconceived ideas about buffets. This one is a must!

Lari P.

Yelp
The Hydro Path is pretty awesome. Felt amazing afterwards. Our 'guide' was sweet and helpful and discreet. The water massages were very relaxing and intense as well. Very unique idea, self -propelled spa experience. We'll be back for sure. I'll be bringing friends here from out of town too. A really nice gift for a loved one! Gift shop has some lovely lotions and potions. The yoga class I attended was very peaceful and well taught. LOVELY setting. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Sadly the kingfisher has gone down hill. The reception area with the retail is lovely. How ever the steam spa has been patched many times with that pack colors not matching the old color so each patch stand out. In the pedicure room the light over the colors of the polish what a bulb missing making it difficult for seeing the colors of the polish. I was acutely shocked at this as I have been to the spa many times for almost 20 years it use to be such a beautiful spa, it has great potential. The light detail created me to start picking things apart and I noticed that the seating area could have been sweep up. :( The portions are quite small for the holiday dinning, not worth the price.

Yelp
The restaurant was a huge disappointment. We had made reservations but were seated in the back when there were window seats available. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our dinner. It was a real surprise and disappointment to our Mother's Day. We didn't want to get into a big argument over the poor kitchen service and make everyone's experience worse than it was. Our seating was at 7 pm and it was almost 9 pm before the food arrived. We asked several times why our dinner was taking so long and the waitress didn't return with any explanation. They did bring us extra bread - twice - four pieces for a table of six. When the dinner did arrive it was not hot and was average quality for what used to be a top restaurant. The food is not up to past experiences and certainly not worth the cost. We are local and will share this experience with our friends. We will not be returning.
