5 Traits of a Perfect Theme Park Treat

We had an absolute blast here. The water games were thrilling and perfect for cooling off on a hot day. The other rides were just as exciting, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy. One of the best parts was the unlimited refillable drinks, which kept us hydrated and refreshed throughout the day. Plus, the food included in the tickets was delicious and offered a great variety. Overall, this place provided a fantastic experience with plenty of fun activities, making it a perfect day out for all ages. Highly recommended!

Google
Great park with a wide variety of rides and coasters! All 14 coasters were good. I especially loved Project 305! We went today (Wednesday) and the park was dead, probably due to the weather forecast. The longest line we stood in was only 5 minutes, which probably isn't typical. All the food we ate was good, the employees were friendly and it was a great day. Ride operations were decent, but could definitely use some work. Some of the rides need a little paint and TLC. Overall everything was great and I would definitely go back.

Finally after many, many years of driving by I went with my son for the first time can't wait to go again next season. Had a blast riding all the coasters and other attractions the place is well maintained.

Google
This is truly a wonderful park! The prices to get in are reasonable (cheaper online) and even adding the food/drinks unlimited is reasonable too! It rained when we visited but they still had lots of rides open. The water park was still going strong due to there not being any lightening! This park is rather large. Be prepared for a lot of walking! It's worth it for the twist and turns of the rollercoasters! Bring your swim suit or just visit the main theme park. Either will take up the whole day! I would definately visit again if in the area! Thank you for a great time!

Wow! This theme park is HUGE! Growing up in Florida, this doesn't compare to anything I've ever been to before. It's so awesome that your admission also includes Soak City, the water park. This adds to the adventure and fun, but you will have to pack accordingly. There is sooooo much to do here. From the rides meant for all ages, the games, and exploring all the food options, to shows, and a parade. I recommend getting all you can eat and drink passes. That allows you to eat every 90 minutes and refill your drink every 15 minutes. It's definitely worth it, especially on a very hot summer day and if you're a season pass holder. As a tourist visiting a family member who had a season pass, this was such a blast. I also was able to get a cheaper admission online by going with a season pass holder.

This was our first time at Kings Dominion, and there's so much to see/do! I would suggest getting to the park early in the morning, like 11 am! If you have a large group or family: it will probably take the whole day to explore all the rides. There are many places to dine & drink 😋 so save your appetite until after the roller-coasters? 😎🙏🏼 According to the website: the waterpark is only open on the weekends now! It's wise to prepay for the drink cups so you can get free refills every 15 minutes.! Dress for comfort and wear some good walking shoes too.! Happy Summer...🩴🥤🌻🍕

Google
The park is well organised and has everything to enjoy. There are roller coaster rides for all ages and everyone can enjoy over there. They have couple of food options all around the park so which ever you go you will find places to eat, restrooms and water. We enjoyed a lot in the park and would recommend everyone to try it out.

Google
Loved our experience at Kings Dominion in Virginia! Well worth the admission fee and lots and lots of thrilling experiences for kids and adults alike! The park is clean and organized and adequately staffed with professional and helpful folks. There is no dearth for excellent food and dessert options! We didn’t go into soak city, but even without that we had enough to keep us occupied for 10+ hours! The kids were extremely excited with all the roller coasters! 🎢 We went on a weekday so the crowds weren’t crazy and the wait times were very minimal! This is a perfect family and has everything for little ones and teens.

Yelp
This park is reaching Six Flags America levels! I went during Memorial Day (Friday May 26th and Sunday May 26th) weekend both last year and this year and both have been crappy times!! Last year we came an hour after the park opened and the Dominator was down right as we got to the front of the line and the same thing happened AGAIN this year!! (This time we came right as the park opened up). Lightening never strikes the same place twice huh? What is this? Ground hog day? I waited for the coaster to open back up because I had already stood in line long enough (I did this last year as well). Unlike last year the Berserker (2024) was down this year and was only up and running towards the end of the day when it was time for me to leave.Delirium was closed for a SECOND year in a row! Last year as I got on Twisted Timbers the A-Hole operator told me I couldn't ride after I stood in line for over an hour because of my glasses and wouldn't let a non rider waiting in line hold them! This year I followed the protocol and STILL WASNT ABLE TO RIDE because all of a sudden the ride went down. This was the SECOND time for the day.I was the 3rd person in line too! I couldn't stand around and wait because I was on a time constraint. Now this part is what really takes the cake! The day went from bad to down right crap! Before I left I decided to get one more meal to-go at Grain and Grill on international street where the fountains are.I stood there waiting with no one to greet me until a young man (I'm assuming the manager) came out and asked the young lady behind the counter if she had greeted me yet.She huffed and rolled her eyes and said in a very monotone voice "how may I help you?". The young man then asked "did you ask the guest how their day was going??".The young lady then said out loud in an angry tone "I don't care enough to ask!" Right as I'm standing in front of her. This is something I'd expect from Six Flags but not Kings Dominion. She was very rude and dismissive. The other young lady was nice and accommodating but my overall experience was crap. Fire House BBQ was one of the only highlights of the day.Everything else was a wash!

Yelp
Incredible rides, great prices, delicious food I only wish there was more shade when moving from place to place. -KOA I stayed at KOA (the campgrounds connected to Kings Dominion) which was an amazing experience as someone using a converted school bus as lodging. The amenities there are abundant but best of all they provide a shuttle to and from the park! The internet provided is surprisingly good and I only had interruption during an extreme weather situation. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're passing through the state.

Monica B.

Yelp
It has been almost 20 years since I went to Kings Dominion. It was 100+ degree but we had a blast! The only things I wasn't happy about was we couldn't wear our pool shoes when getting on water slides. The cemet was very hot.

Laura W.

Yelp
Ahhh Spring and Fall weekends are so relaxing in the park. The crowds are non existent and the rides are basically walk on. Come early, see/ride it all and get out before the afternoon/ evening picks up. This will always be an iconic park near RVA. Recently it was bought by Six Flags. Will we see any updates? Looney tunes for instance?? Save yourself time and money and buy a refillable cup. Easy to carry and refill and fresh brewed iced teas can be found in some restaurants. I love all the different festivals throughout the year. KD will always be an iconic park.

Yelp
My company rented out the park for the day and it was such a good experience. We had great food and rode awesome rides. The staff was more friendly than I remember amusement park staff being and the lines were short, but that is probably because it was rented out. Great park just outside of Richmond!

Kimberly R.

Yelp
With a season pass the cost of coming isn't so bad HOWEVER either lower the price of your food or improve the quality of your food. $20 for a COLD , HARD, DRY chicken tender entree with the option of a side. I asked how long the food was sitting but the fella was clueless and couldn't provide an answer. The chaperone policy (which I support) requires me to be here but KD is missing an opportunity to have 1. Decent food for parents 2. A lounge area with beverages, food, books, tv.

Racquel H. D.

Yelp
Always a fun time at Kings Dominion. The rides are fun the atmosphere is electric and the exercise you get walking around is great.

Cassie V.

Yelp
This was my second time at KD we live 30-40 mins away. First time we went a few years back we did the Halloween haunt and it was amazing even with little kids they were having a blast ! That year not all rides were open but we had way more fun than this time. This year we went kids are a little older now so they could go on rides and of course it was warmer out so the water rides were open. They enjoyed some of the rides but the lines were ridiculous. There is definitely not enough employees running the rides. They needed to be two or three more at some of the rides. I get that you pay extra for the fast track ride pass, but we saw on more than one ride people getting off the ride that had the pass and getting right back in line making the regular lines even longer wait times. That for me was not ok. The games are over priced and so is the food. The park is kept clean. But if you really want to enjoy I would say save your money and go to the Halloween haunt or find a better park sadly. Also make better rides not everyone likes roller coasters.

Yelp
Note: edited a few minutes after posting to format text for easier reading and to fix a few typos Kings Dominion is a theme park located in Virginia. The day we visited it was a bit rainy but it turned out to be in our favor as there were little to no lines on most rides. Combined with a website promo we were able to get tickets for $30 each. There is both an amusement park and a water park area in the park. Both areas are covered by one ticket which was convenient and easy. Due to the rain we did not make it to the water park. However there was plenty to keep us occupied for the day in the amusement park area. Things to note: -Parking: parking is $30 a car and from our experience it's not worth springing the extra $10 per car for priority parking. If you are early you can park pretty close to the gate with regular parking. -Height Limits: there are height limits for some of the rides so be prepared for staff to like you or anyone in your party against a "height stick" to ensure you meet the requirements. We appreciated their diligence. -Food and Drink: Although the website stated no outside food/drink we saw several people who brought food inside the park saving $$$. Food is pricey in the park and we easily spent $20+ on what we considered a small amount of food and of average quality. Docked a star due to this. -Dining Package: Another option to consider is the add on food package which may be worth the extra $33 or so. Additionally there is a all day beverage option which was about $18 a day. We did not do this so cannot comment on the value, ease of use, etc. -WiFi: there is free WiFi in the park -Carnival Games: there are plenty carnival games but they were at least $10 to play for most of them -Park Rentry: it is easy to leave and re-enter the park as long as you get a re-admittance slip which is available by the exit. We saw people leave to to eat food from their cooler in the car. Not sure if you can drive your car out of the park and not have to repay for parking. Might be worth asking if you want to drive off park for food. -Lots of characters from Snoopy roaming the park and to take pictures with and a few shows for kids -There is a bungee jumping type of attraction which I believe has an up-charge -Mobile App: there is an app you can download with a map of the park however in order to see wait times on rides you must sign up for an account which didn't have a charge but was kind of a pain and seemed be a way to get your information for marketing purposes

Jacob L.

Yelp
Kings dominion is amazing because they have a lot of rides and experience to see. I got on a lot of rides, the longest line I waited was about 5 minutes

Keven W.

Yelp
I ended up going to this park two full days. On a Friday from 9am to 8pm and another day from 11am to 10pm. Well I arrived at around 11:15am as I met my friend in the morning. From the last time I went they did some updates which I liked. I complained about not having good food, but now they have a lot better offerings to Grain and Grill and the Outpost cafe. I enjoyed the pork at Grain and Grill and the outpost I loved the Prime Rib. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the Country Kitchen as the kitchen as the fried chicken was dry and the breading was not good. I did not try the Firehouse BBQ as they are still doing construction. I did get some Hershey's ice cream which is awesome as I was a big pig that day. They do close some of the rides on the weekdays like the log Ride and White Water Canyon which is a bummer as I do enjoy those rides. The rides open at different time. Intimidator did not open until 1 hour after park was opened on both Friday and Saturday. Windseeker is a great ride, but operations are way slow. I remember my wife and I waited 20 minutes per dispatch. We had similar experience to the one in Carowinds. Planet Snoopy is quite big as well and the characters do come out and you can take pictures. We watched one of the shows which was alright. It was a good time eater. We did see more merchandise at the park compared to Carowinds. I do like the newly developed expedition. Tumbuli is a 4D coaster and went on there just to get the credit, but the line does get long. I went on the bobsled coasters which was alright. Intimidator 305 requires a locker for the bag or you can leave the bag on top of the locker. For Twisted Timbers, they require all of your loose items to go into a locker. If you have a small jacket or bag, it can fit inside it. Besides those 2 rides, other have creates to store your items. Overall, I had a great time so much that I can always use an extra day.

Yelp
The security man who was working on August 4th around 8:30pm at the entrance gates with the metal detectors needs to be fired. I completely understand there is a rule against people under the age of 16 can't go in the park without a chaperone after 4pm, however this man didn't check any ID and me and my group were honest about our ages. We politely walked away to meet our group and walked back with them.... this security guard immediately started yelling at us and saying that none of us can enter the park when all of us were above 16 except 1 girl and 4 of the people with us were over 21 years of age. People who abuse their power, scream at minors, and act the way he did tonight contribute to the many reasons why people have strong feelings against security and cops. Seriously unprofessional and made us all extremely uncomfortable. We contacted customer service and no one was able to help us or even talk to the man and check ID's if he was really concerned about us lying .. but the rules clearly state that it's a chaperone - not a parent or guardian and chaperones is what we had. Ridiculous.

Yelp
I have been to this amusement park so many times. Some years I had a season pass! With that being said, some of my favorite rides are the Dominator, Drop Tower, Flight of Fear, and the Intimidator. They used to have this ride called the Volcano. It's really sad that they got rid of that one it was also a favorite but also a very unique ride! No need for fast passes the lines do not take too long here. Not my favorite amusement park but still a good one. They have some really great roller coasters. There is also a section dedicated to younger children. The one thing that they lack compared to a lot of other amusement parks is theming. Does not bother me though. The water park here is pretty good as well! I recommend checking that out if you have time.

Yelp
The best part of having memories is making them. Good times! The sun was shining and my nephews really enjoyed themselves. Big park full of attractions for kids of all ages. My nephews enjoyed the wave pool and the slides. Can't wait to bring them back for more fun in the sun. Happy Yelping!

Nessa R.

Yelp
Hello Fun! Who doesn't love Kings Dominion. So I came on day that it wasn't packed so I loved it. Didn't see many younger kids. I def don't recommend food. Snacks are of course a must but food, just wait until you leave. I got pizza and a salad and threw it away. There was no way. The slushies and ice cream, oh yes! Enjoy

Amy I.

Yelp
Winterfest at Kings Dominion has been an incredible experience the past 2-3 years! You can walk around and see beautiful lights that make the experience all the more magical. Venture into the park and they have activities of all sorts. You can go ice skating to decorating cookies with Mrs. Claus. They have fun arts and crafts for kids. They have the 12 days of Christmas ride that you can ride on the old antique cars and count down the 12 days. It is fun singing along while seeing beautiful lights. Don't miss the entertaining shows and performances around the park: from "Four Drummers Drumming", "Jingle Jazz", "Sounds of the Nativity, The MisleTones and more. You can even find the perfect gifts for friends and family at the shops that small business owner's are selling. Take in the sights and the lights along WinterFest Way on a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride! -There is a separate charge for this activity Some rollercoasters are open depending on the weather and temperature

Rebecca W.

Yelp
If you have younger kids and are thinking about Kings Dominion, GO! We had such a great time in the Charlie Brown Town. There are many rides for the children of all ages. They have The Great Pumpkin Coaster which was fun! There's a Driving School, an airplane ride, swings and several other rides. The park was clean and the staff were friendly. The food in the park is not up to Disney's standards but is fine for the one meal we ate. We stopped in the jungle outpost area of the park and grabbed burgers. Later on our children enjoyed Dip n Dots while the adults shared a funnel cake and Starbucks. We had such a great time!

Diana A.

Yelp
We have the annual pass. We come at least 3 times a month, we love everything about this park. It has rides for all ages. Soak city is perfect to visit in the summer. They have all kinds of food for all tastes. This park is one of my favorites. My husband, children and I really enjoyed it. It is much cheaper to buy the annual pass than to buy the one-day ticket. Buy the annual pass you will not regret it.

Mike V.

Yelp
Purchased park tickets online the night before we visited. Paid about $44 per person for a Saturday visit plus we decided to pay an additional $55 per person for the Fast Lane Option. The website said that they only sell a limited number of Fast Lane tickets so we thought this investment would help us save a lot of time at the park....Wrong! Throughout the morning, the Fast Lane wasn't at all faster than the regular line. It was not until the evening did some of the lines get long enough for us to save maybe five minutes by using Fast Lane. So, suggest avoid the Fast Lane upsell. The food is also horribly overpriced. $17 for a single slice of cheese pizza!! Horrible! The park is poorly maintained. Bathrooms were not well cleaned and several of the rides would periodically close throughout the day. Twice we waited in line for rides only for them to shut down as soon as we got to the front of the line. On the flip side, the thrill rides were top notch. The park is worth going to, but avoid the upsell of the Fast Lane and eat ahead of time.

Cameron F.

Yelp
Best place in the world I loved all the rides my favorite is the twisted timbers didn

Amanda T.

Yelp
Kings Dominion is a great deal for military season passes. Definitely recommend going during the week to avoid the need for a fast pass; however, I went on a Friday and Saturday and even Saturday was not that long of lines for rides. Some had no lines. The app helps you gage what rides to go to next. I did not go to the waterpark on this occasion, but I have been before and it is a lot of fun, again, if you can go on a day that is less busy. The water slides are awesome!

Gary W.

Yelp
Kings Dominion is a great theme park with a water park in the center for one price. It has great atmosphere and fantastic rides. You will have fun!

Mitch S.

Yelp
I give Kings Dominion a 4.3/5 stars. I thought it was overall a great park and had a lot of things to offer for everyone. First, here is my list of top 5 rides in the park. 1. Intimidator - the smoothest ride in the park. Hitting too speeds of 85-90mph. Easily the best coaster in the park. Low lines, quick turnaround times. Instant classic. 2. Dominator - also one of the smoothest coasters. Feet dangling, great views and one of the highest loops in a coaster I've been on ever. Also high speeds on this one and a lot of fun. 3. White Water Canyon - this ride was one of the most enjoyable and exhilarating rides of the day. There's a chance you get wet- soaking wet. But on a hot summer day it felt great to cool off. This ride fits 6 which is great for bigger groups. 4. Twisted Timbers - the newest ride in the park. Definitely some speeds and gnarly corkscrews to this one. This ride bends you up and around on a lot of way that we're unexpected. It's newly built from 2019 and a lot of fun 5. Racer - classic rollercoaster, old school but freaky fun and enjoyable. I thought this park was great overall. Perfect layout and land for the number of rides. Of the newer coasters the recently updated ones were a lot of fun. Some could use some additional work. Grizzly was apparently renovated in 2023 but not fully and you felt it. Some others rides had seating that banged your head or made you hurting a bit afterwards. Overall a lot of good variety of rides which I enjoyed but some enhancement could definitely be made to a few. Lots of food options but nothing that blows your mind away. Kind of your classic ballpark food for the most part.

Veronica M.

Yelp
I enjoy coming here. I think this a park that is still reasonably priced. I've been here about 3 times this summer and it has been good experiences. The food could use some work, but not bad. Wish they had more shows for those of us that don't get on many rides anymore and bring our teens, but over all I do like coming here.

Ethan E.

Yelp
This place... is amazing. I went for the first time on a class trip and was blown away by the food, rides, and cleanliness! Dominator was my favorite. Also the grain and grill is perfection. I never thought I'd say I ate healthy at a theme park but lo and behold, I did. Highly recommend coming here! It's perfect for kids all the way up to intense thrill seekers! :)

Bryan S.

Yelp
I go to amusement parks in julys with my church group. I have to get on every rides and games in the park sections.

Sam P.

Yelp
This park has one of my favorite top 5 coaster lineups out there. The lineup is well thought out, well rounded, and each ride offers something different which keeps lines reasonable as there's a lot of different things to do well spread out around the park. Twisted timbers is a great RMC, only held back for me by the fact that the seats are a bit uncomfortable. Since the retracking, grizzly runs great which adds a lot to the lineup and is so much fun ripping through the forest on a fun and exciting layout. Dominator is not talked about as much as it should be. For this type of coaster design, the run time is excellent and some of the inversions will make your head spin in the good kind of way - runs very smooth Intimidator - this one I have mixed feelings about. We went on this ride 4 times. The first two we had a blast and it was arguably the best coaster experience I'd ever had. Then, we made a mistake. We went on the ride at night. There is NO track lighting. You're essentially being dropped into some of the most intense and stupidly severe turns you will find anywhere in the world with 0 vision. My wife, blacked out, and the photos of the trains showed dozens of passengers faded/passedout/blacked out. It's a bit of a shame because this is such a good ride but it leaves you questioning if this type of thing is healthy, especially for young children who may not fully understand what they are getting into. For what this was - I wish there was a little more up front information about what you're getting into.

Leah G.

Yelp
I've been going to Kings Dominion for as long as I can remember. I went here for field trips, church trips and family trips. Last weekend I went back for the first time in a long time and it looked just like I remembered with the exception of some new rides. The entry line moved very fast. We purchased our tickets in advance and went right on through. They still offer to take your picture in the beginning even though most people have camera phones now. The lines were pretty line but all the staff was nice. Comparing the park the another close by amusement park that I dare not mention, I honestly think they have faster, more exhilarating rides!

Michael N.

Yelp
DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO KINGS DOMINION FOR HALLOWEEN HAUNT. I took my little sister to Halloween Haunt because she wanted to see how it's like. Since I know they sell the "No Boo" necklaces for kids, I thought there would not be an issue. I got one for my sister, since it is her first time here. If you wear the "No Boo" necklace with the lights on, then the monsters will know not to scare you. It did NOT say that it is only for scare zones and not for haunted attractions. When my sister walked in the scare zones, the monsters did not scare her. However, when we got to the front of the line after waiting for more than 2 hours for one haunted attraction, the worker said that she was not allowed to have her necklace lights on. We were confused, but thought that maybe the attraction was not too scary to have a "No Boo" necklace. Not even more than a minute, my sister got scared and turned her necklace on. Then the monsters STILL scared her, and she cried. We went back to the entrance to exit the building. We went to the stand where you can purchase the "No Boo" necklace. The worker there said it is only for scare zones. We were extremely frustrated because the sign for the necklace specifically said that the monsters know not to scare you. After complaining, she said that we can go to guest services. Even if the worker is just a seller, she had terrible guest service. We went to the guest service and told them our issue. Firstly, the monsters should know better to not scare her since she has a necklace on. Secondly, the sign NEEDS to be SPECIFIC about how the necklace is ONLY FOR SCARE ZONES. A simple refund on the necklace is NOT a solution. Then the guest service called a supervisor, named Rachel, to help with our situation. She was very nice and empathetic. She gave my sister a coupon for free cotton candy. She apologized and called for Jack, the entertainment manager. Unsurprisingly, the customer that was behind us had a similar situation as us, having monsters scaring their kid with the necklace on. When we talked to Jack, he apologized, said he would talk to the actors, and that they would change the "No Boo" sign. Extremely irritated, I asked if there was anything else they can do, since they scarred my sister. Jack said he cannot do anything in his power. My sister ended up NOT SLEEPING and had PANIC ATTACKS throughout Saturday night. She felt so sick that she could not even out on Sunday or go to school. I called Kings Dominion on Sunday and they said they will email me. I have been waiting patiently and no email has come to my inbox. This customer service experience has been awful, with no progress as I fight for my sister. No child should ever have this experience. The necklace was not advertised correctly and now my sister is scared to sleep and go out. They cannot take back the horrific experience we dealt with. We also did not get a refund for the useless necklace.

Charlie P.

Yelp
I have been coming here since 1994 and things have changed so much. When Paramount sold out things have gone down hill. The Halloween haunt is the same every year! This year they changed it to where you have to have either a season pass to stay all day and for the Halloween haunt. If you don't you have to buy 2 separate passes to get in for the day and the Halloween haunt. Which in my opinion isn't worth paying twice. The bathrooms aren't kept cleaned up. Everything is of course over-priced which is to be expected. I hate it in the summer, but fall and winter aren't as bad...

Adrienne C.

Yelp
We went on a 100 degree day and I was surprised at the amount of shaded areas. Ride wait times were short and water park had lots of attractions for kids.

Ashley H.

Yelp
Went for 4th of July and was pleasantly surprised. The lines for rides weren't extreme weather was great and staff was friendly especially the worker pictured with my stepdaughter. My only holdups was the resturants couldn't keep up especially in the water park area. We waited for over 20 min for pizza. Also leaving the park was crazy. KD employees seemed to not know how to direct traffic which was causing major delays. It caused drivers to cut across parking lots including running over cones etc. Local cops were watching but not jumping into help.

Willy K.

Yelp
Came to kd on 7/1/23 with wife, kids (4,1) and buddy. Food is garbage and expensive. Southern inn charged me full price for meal ($18) even tho I opted out of sides. Obviously would've taken sides if your forcing me to. Staff seemed friendly but bring your own food.

Grace C.

Yelp
My siblings and I made the trip up here to meet with my baby brothers who live in Maryland. My baby brothers loveee roller coasters, as do my sister and I. My brother hates them, but there are still other things to do if a person doesn't like thrill rides. Not as many activities as Busch Gardens, but it's a huge park with lots of more easygoing rides, games, food, drinks, shops, etc. When we all met up at noon to explore the park, we found that lot of the rides were closed. On our day trip, we found the Grizzly, Reptilian, Anaconda, Windseeker, Drop Tower to be not operational. Intimidator 305, Berserker, Tumbli, and Delirium were too scary for us, so we didn't dare (no complaints there). By afternoon time, many of the coasters had wait times of well over an hour. That's crazy to me. And with the price of the Fast Lane passes being more than the tickets themselves, it's kind of unfair to me. I don't know. Places like this should have a limit on how many guests come into the park. By the time the Halloween Haunt started, there was NO space in the park at all. It was shoulder to shoulder as far as I could see and huge lines for everything, including the restaurants. Me and my family just left.. because it is no place to bring kids or try and have fun as a group because you have to force your way through the crowds and can't even hear each other talk. That's no fun at all. Before all hell broke loose, though, we got to ride Apple Zapple, Racer 75, Twisted Timbers, WoodStock Express, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, and the Backlot Stunt Coaster. I also got the chance to enjoy some food from one of the restaurants in the Jungle themed area. The food was good, but I wish that it didn't get so busy that night so I could take advantage of my meal passes. So we had fun while it lasted.. However, I really don't feel like it was worth the price at all. Definitely come on a weekday and honestly if what I described sounds unpleasant to you, avoid the Holiday seasons. If you don't mind the crowds, get a Fast Pass, but even then, there will be a lot of waiting around.

Yelp
It's a super fun theme park but the lines got really long on the Snoopy Rocket Express and the ride didn't even cover that much of Planet Snoopy. Jungle Expedition is a really well-themed part of Kings Dominion and Reptilian is probably the best bobsled coaster I've been on in my life. But the racing coaster, Racer 75, was down for at least five hours. By the time the coaster was back up, the park only had an hour left until closing time. Grizzly, the wooden coaster, was a really great experience. I do recommend experiencing it with all the work Kings Dominion has put into it. Anaconda was probably the funnest ride at the park with the drop at the beginning, going over the tree lines and going through the double loop de loop, it was probably the most extreme ride I got to experience in my day here. White water canyon was down even though it was summer time and later that day, there was a heat advisory. Overall, it's the experience that matters. The staff is super nice and the designer crew for ride T-shirt's is super detailed. I hope you take a visit here, it's probably my favorite theme park in the world (other than Disney). Yelp
I got a gold pass this summer, which paid for itself in one visit since it comes with a preschool pass for my 4 year old and free parking. I also love that the pass allowed me to purchase discounted tickets for others. I had low expectations going in but was pleasantly surprised by the number, variety, and quality of the rides! The facilities are also well maintained. Over the summer I loved that we could spend the morning in the regular park and then change into bathing suits to go into the water park in the afternoon. During winter break we came back for Winterfest and it was absolutely beautiful with all the lights! However, as a warning, most of the rides were not operating during Winterfest. I hadn't realized that it was mostly the smallest kid's rides which were operational (I'd assumed it would be the bigger rides since Winterfest is only open from 5-10pm). There were lots of musical performances and even a very cute 20 minute musical. There was a crafting tent with complimentary crafts and my kids could have spent the whole time in there making ornaments. I think this will be a new tradition for us!

Yelp
Arrived around 7:00 p.m. to the park on a Saturday night for Hallow fest. From the time we got on the exit to get our car ticket scanned for parking and then to actually find parking, took all about 45 mins. Parking was terrible. Looking for and then trying to get out of the park. Seriously, parking attendants would have been desired for tell folks where to park and areas with availability. I would not return on this fact alone. Since it was a Saturday night , for an event the park was packed. One wait time for a roller coaster was 1.5 hours. Another took us all of 25 mins wait. The Rebel Yel was still there to my surprise! I loved this kid as a ride. Weather was beautiful. Haunted mazes were cool. The park workers def entertained and creeped us out lol . Not my cup of tea but I'm glad I came

Yelp
We went this past Sunday and the lines were very minimal. Some we walked right on and others were maybe 15-30 minutes. Our tickets includes the water park which was busier than the roller coasters. Kids loved all the rides. We got parking right next to the entrance. Reminded me of a knotts berry farm for the west coast people. Rides for every age.

Yelp
We have season passes this year and have easily gotten our value from them. The kids love coming here and they have a good balance between thrill rides and kid/family friendly rides. If you're into roller coasters, I've found the lines to be much shorter at Intimidator than they are at Dominator. The Snoopy area is great if you have small kids. There are also some fun Snoopy-themed shows that the kids will enjoy. Food is WAY overpriced, but that's the case at most theme parks. The drink pass is nice to have and allows a fountain drink refill every 15 minutes. Seems like there may be some staffing shortages as some of the food/drink spots are frequently closed. Overall, the cost for a season pass if you live in the area isn't bad to have an activity throughout the year. Winter fest is a plus and we enjoyed seeing the park lit up and decorated. It's a fun place to hang out.

Yelp
Kings Dominion is great for kids and parents except during Halloween night time it gets a little scary, especially for little ones but overall it's AMAZING.

Yelp
Worst park ever, laws are weird asf. I went out with my brother and friends we went to a swing called wind seeker. First they kick my friend because of little weight even tho that swing does not have any signs for over weight people. I ignored that i thought maybe they are just trying to be safe, but later on the same person on the swing who was talking care of the swing reported my brother for using the phone (he pulled out phone when i swing was coming back down at the end) they reported us to the entire park and kicked up out with an escort team like we are some criminals who killed bunch of people. It was humiliating for us, everyone was looking us because we are surrounded by police. Like What kind of park do that to their customers. Literally humiliation for us. Such disrespect for just because my brother pulled out phone mid swing.

Yelp
Having grown up in Chicago and fighting the enormous crowds of Six Flags, I love enjoying a day at Kings Dominion! The wait times have always been reasonable, even for rides like Intimidator. There are all sorts of rides and events for everyone, whether you are with your family or out for a solo day of adventure. We purchased Gold passes with the meal/drink pre-pandemic. They are honoring those passes in full for this year, including a $50 Pass Perks reward on our cards. We were able to get a reservation for the opening of Passholders' Day through the online system, since they are currently still limiting the number of patrons in the park. The arrival morning was a bit chaotic, since it was unclear what time the parking gates, park, and rides were actually open. (This was not communicated via emails, their website, or social media. Some people left their cars and walked up to the parking gates to ask.) Once the parking gates opened, two lines were letting cars zip through, but the left-hand lane was scanning every single pass. There wasn't any communication about this, which was very frustrating for those of us in the left lane. Cars were trying to merge into the other lanes, which created a dangerous traffic situation. Once we parked, we had to go to the Guest Services line to get a special pass, since I was in a leg cast and wheelchair. It took a bit of time, but once we were done, we had to go all the way back into the huge lines that had formed while we worked with Guest Services. (In past visits, I know those in wheelchairs have been allowed through the side gate instead.) As we waited in line, many people asked employees about the mask policy, as this also had not been clarified on social media or through email. The semi-chaos outside the park gates evaporated once we were inside. Since it was Passholders' Day, they had some special tables set up with giveaways, like enamel pins, food samples, and caricature drawings. The employees inside the park were very friendly and welcoming. We tried the new Grain & Grill restaurant and really liked it. A sign on the wall shows where some of the local ingredients have been purchased. I had the shrimp skewer with mixed veggies. I loved the naan and hummus on the side. I do wish they would have asked if I wanted sauce on the shrimp skewer, since it was kind of spicy and messy, so I probably would have opted for it on the side. They have a nice beer garden outside. It was easy to use the meal and drink plan here. I would definitely go back to the restaurant for future visits, since I love having fresh and healthier options. We enjoyed a few rides while we visited. Because I had limited mobility during this trip, we had to push my wheelchair to the exit ramp of the attractions. (I only went on rides that were rated "1" or "2" for movement, like the Ferris Wheel.) All the employees were great about communicating when I could get on the rides and where we should put my wheelchair. Of course, a trip for us would be incomplete without a funnel cake. We opted for vanilla ice cream for chocolate sauce. After missing out of this tasty treat last year, it was a perfect way to end our visit! Overall, some of the pre-coordination outside the gate could have been a bit better, especially through questions on social media and via email. However, I know the staff members had a lot to deal with for this day, especially with the closure of the park last year. I really appreciated that they were able to accommodate my limited mobility status so I could still enjoy the day at the park. I look forward to many more visits this summer, especially once I can go back on the bigger coasters!

Yelp
I use love this place as kid. I thought this was the best amusement park in the world. It has been years since I have experienced this place. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend. Be safe out there.

Yelp
We haven't been to this place in years and it's changed so much, for the good though. They updated some rides and got some new ones as well. We ended up getting a season pass because it would pay for itself. It was only $109. Preschoolers 3-5 can get a free pass. Every staff member we encountered were all so friendly. The park was clean. We went on a rainy weekend and had the best time of our lives. Tons of rides for toddlers as well, I have a 3 year old and he rode so much. When we went, there were rarely any lines. It may be because we went on a somewhat rainy weekend. The longest line we waited in was the new ride (totally forgot the name) because the car only takes 8 people at a time, we waited about 30-40 mins. Everything else was 5 mins tops. We plan on making a few day trips throughout the summer!

Yelp
Was on the border of 2 and 3 stars. Kings Dominion used to be better. I'm admittedly irritated, that they got rid of the roller coaster, that sent you forward upside down and backwards three times. Not pleased the Shockwave is out. I'm not going to ride the who knows how high it is drop tower. Thank you for keeping the Grizzly, and whatever they changed the Rebel Yells name, so as to be politically correct. A surprisingly fun one, was once called the Italian Job. This roller coaster speeds up right from the beginning for a excellent adrenaline rush. My preference is Hershey Park nowadays. A lot of kids and teens like this one, but it's seemed to have lost the family vibe a bit. Also the way they've raised ticket, parking, and concession prices is absolutely madness. I'm not overwhelmed by anything, and even the fake Eiffel Tower isn't all that anymore. Will I go here? Yes if there's a really big coupon involved. It's lost some luster and that's unfortunate.

Yelp
I went here with friends for the Christmas themed events and it was an absolute blast. There was an ice skating rink for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
This is a good place if you have little kids. I went in March and the bigger, faster rides were not working and/or kept shutting down and opening up randomly. But the kiddie smaller rides looked fun and the kiddos seemed to enjoy it. The food here is severely over priced and TERRIBLE! But the highlight was the fried Oreos and the fact that the park was so small we rode several rides twice.
