Kingsley Dam Resort

Spent one night here in a camper backed up to the edge of a cliff overlooking the lake. It was peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed this nice location via Harvest Hosts. Would recommend and would stay here again. My site has electricity and water. 😁 About 10 miles north of I-80. Owner was communicative and very courteous. Thank you!

What a great stay. Perfect location to enjoy the lake. We had a wonderful view of the lake with our morning coffee. Super comfy little cabin. The cabin was Very clean, freshly painted, brand new air conditioner. There’s a picnic table and fire pit/grill right in front. We wished we could have stayed longer. There’s a really nice little store across the street where you check in and out. Excellent service. We can’t wait to stay there again!!

What a great place! We stayed the night in our 38' motorhome through Harvest Host. I'm posting here because I thought my comment would get lost in their 100+ Harvest Host reviews :) The new owners were super helpful and easy going. They have five sites, each with its own brand new water and 50/30 amp hookup. We opted to pay the requested $20 for hookups which worked perfectly. The spot was nearly level, had to block the front levelers, but set up was quick and soon we were enjoying the view over the lake. If you don't want to unhook your toad, just let them know when booking as they have a site that can work as a pull through. The new owners are updating their cabins and totally restocking their general store. They clearly have a vision and are working hard to achieve it. We wish them the best of luck and will definitely be back!!

The staff is always friendly and work hard to keep customers comfortable and satisfied! The cabins are conveniently located next to their convenience store that is open long hours so you always have what you need even if you forget something at home! The new owners have made some great updates to the cabins and the convenience store. I have to say - having a School Bus Coffee Shop on site during the weekend is pretty nice too 😉 I love the people and I'm lucky to have business located next to them!

We’ve stayed at the cabins twice, and enjoyed every minute! The cabins are nicely renovated and so clean; the space was perfect for my family of 4. The view of the lake is gorgeous; the cabins are just a short drive to the sandy beaches. The owners are so hospitable and kind, and know how to take care of their guests. I highly recommend these cabins!

Our family reunion this past week here was a wonderful experience. Individual cabins for each family , outdoor space for sharing meals made in a cabin with a full kitchen. Close to the lake for beach days, incredible view of the lake, beautiful sunsets, peaceful, quiet mornings. Kids enjoyed the outdoor space, adults enjoyed horseshoes and firepits. Kate and Sergsare great hosts. We highly recommend a stay here and we will put it on our list of places to stay again!

We just finished our three night stay at Kingsley Dam Resort. The cabins are very clean and comfortable with everything very nice and rustic on the inside. BBQ on the deck and fire pit were a nice bonus and we enjoyed those amenities as well. We got a chance to visit with the new owner and what a very pleasant experience with a very kind and pleasant individual. The view of the lake was almost as if the lake was on the porch with such an incredible view. We also visited the food truck on the property and the proprietor was a very sweet and kind lady with incredible cooking skills, so be sure to visit the food truck during your visit. No restaurant needed as you can get a great meal off of the truck and sit down convenience. The convenience store at the location is well stocked with items and souvenirs along with fishing items, ice, and gas all available here as well. The icing on the cake was catching some beautiful fish in Lake McConaughy too. Bring your family, friends, to a wonderful vacation spot that is also pet friendly. No pool needed with the lake at your fingertips. I highly recommend that you make reservations and visit Kingsley Dam Resort. You will not be disappointed in your stay. We will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality!!!

This was our first stay in the cabins. We were very comfortable. The cabin was immaculate. It appeared freshly renovated, everything was fresh and clean. Just the right size for us. The beds were comfortable. Outside the door is a picnic table and fire pit/grill. And a fabulous view of the lake. Great place for morning coffee. We will definitely return!

If you just need a Roof over your head and the fine aroma of the septic system in the mornings. This is for you. Rotted floors with boards missing covered with carpet. Plywood on a part of the ceiling to cover what looks a leak in the past. Speaking of plywood, love the plywood vanity held up by 2x4s in the bathroom. Kitchen was accented with a 1950 electric stove/ oven. The burners cover with aluminum foil that needs a good oil change. All this can be yours for$199 a night!

Okay, so this Yelp page desperately needs to be updated with more accurate information. First, Kingsley lodge is now under new ownership and the old reviews are not really applicable to the business under the new ownership. Second, it is no longer called Kingsley Lodge but Kingsley Dam Resort on their website. You can also find the same exact cabins on Airbnb. It's cheaper to book through their direct website. Don't try to copy and paste the address from their website into Apple Maps. For some reason, it reroutes you a different way. We solved this by just dropping a pin at 1510 N-61, Ogallala, NE. (Check in at the gas station) I highly recommend that the owners of the lodge update this page so that customers aren't confused like we were! Third, yes the cabins are directly across from the water. However, I would not consider it accessible for most people. My husband, toddler, and I were able to climb down the trail by taking turns in passing off our child in between the rocks. I would say most moderately fit individuals can deal with the steep climb. I don't recommend taking a small child unless you are very confident that they can handle it. With that being said, WOW it was well worth the hard work to arrive to our own private beach. It was hard to believe that we were in Nebraska and not Southern California! The cabins ARE clean, but pretty dated. By the time we paid the nightly rate, pet fee, and other fees, it came to $200 for the night. I did feel that it was worth it but I really wish that we got more bang for our buck. It is called a resort but I don't believe there are any real amenities like a pool or anything. I think there is a lot of room for progress in this area. For dinner, we went to Driftwood in downtown ogallala. (About 12 minutes away). The burgers were very good and supplied by a local beef ranch. I recommend eating there for a nice dinner. Overall, 4/5 stars. I'd say this would be an excellent spot for people that love adventure. As most of their online reviews and FB page says, the new owners are superb and are bringing this place in an amazing direction!

The cutest lake apparel! The owner is super sweet and engaging. She seems to love the area and gets that "lake life". So glad they purchased the store and revamped it a bit.

Just stayed here this weekend in cabin #11. Cabin has been updated and new owners are great! They were very welcoming and accommodating! I've stayed here many times in the past and will continue to do so!

We just stayed for Memorial Day weekend and I can't say enough good things about our stay. The staff at the office/store were great very friendly and willing to get you what ever you need to make your stay more comfortable. The cabin (#1) we stayed at was super clean with fresh smelling bedding. Bathroom was small but clean and super hot shower. New flat screen TV with DISH network. AC worked great and was very needed when temps got over 90. Parking was just fine for my big truck with boat attached right in front of my cabin with electrical power station for recharging your batteries. Small covered patio was perfect for watching the awesome rain/lightning storm and the sun set over the lake every evening. Store has everything you need from Bait to Beer. Love this place and cant wait to book our next trip. Stann N.

Been staying at the Kingsley Lodge for a few years now great place with a view of the lake like no other. HIGHLY RECOMEND TO VISIT ! Nebraska

I don't know where to start - the (unnamed) lady who took our reservations actually specifically lied to us about the property. We traveled with our children and 3 other families and their children (all friends). We were told that we would all be together. We were told that the property is "right on the beach" and that you can "walk right out to the beach". This is a scam! They collect your FULL PAYMENT up front before you ever see where you're staying and before they tell you where you're going to stay. They threaten you with a ridiculous list of "rules" and cancellation fees... then you finally get the bad news (after you've paid). The property is not on any beach of any kind, it's on a cliff next to the dam. The nearest beach is public and around 2-3 miles down the highway and across the dam. The views from the deluxe "cabin" (which is actually half of a poorly remodeled double-wide trailer) are BEAUTIFUL. This was the best thing about the property. Two of our families shared the "deluxe" cabin and then the other two families held individual cabins ACROSS A HIGHWAY. The individual cabins are terrible shack-like dwellings with non-working air conditioning, bugs everywhere, mold, and what must have surely been wiring and construction standards far below what anyone would consider safe building standards. For example - our light was a single socket literally hanging from the ceiling by it's own electrical wires. We stuck it out because of the threats about cancellation fees and the owner literally held our primary family's credit-card hostage against us. She was rude and unwilling to credit or change anything for the lies we were told. One of her employees actually told me (when the owner wasn't around) that she does this all the time (even lying to old disabled people about ada accessibility) and that she's quitting. I've slept in better places for free than our cabin for $100/night! I MUCH RATHER would have stayed in a decent hotel room back in Ogallala and driven the extra 10 minutes each day to the lake for $70-$80/nt than pay that. The days were over 100f and the air conditioning either didn't work or was wholly inadequate - again the property owners did nothing to correct this and didn't care that we have small children including a diabetic 5-year-old. I don't know how many ways I can say DO NOT STAY HERE. You would be far more comfortable and have saved more money in a tent in a camping area than here. Pick a hotel or a camping area... or one of the many beautiful homes around the lake for rent... do not stay here! The property owner's staff are actually VERY FRIENDLY and kind but powerless to do anything to make your stay better. They and the view were the best part of our visit.

While the rooms need major updating, it is convenient to the lake and a nice place to visit. Jess the manager, is fantastic and the staff is very friendly

The older blonde lady who works the register was rude and had poor customer service. She was very unprofessional as well. The poor (nice) gentleman who was working with her was getting chewed out for forgetting to do something. She could have just waited for us to leave or privately scolded him instead of publicly shaming him. However, they only supplied us with half a roll of toilet paper and we were told only one roll per day. She was very rude to me when I went to ask for more. This made it difficult since we had a cabin to fit 8. Some of the guys had to run down to the portal potty to use the restroom and we eventually ended up not having enough TP one night/morning. I will never rent from here again or purchase from their store. There are other stores/cabins near by that provided us with better service.

I stayed at Kingsley Lodge for three nights in June of 2018. We had 6 in our party and stayed in cabin 9. The cabins are very dated and the work that has been done in them is enough to keep them standing. We knew going in that these would not be "fancy" by any means and we really just wanted a place to sleep, eat, and rest when the weather was not ideal for fishing. Overall the cabins served their purpose until the weather became an issue. The first evening a thunderstorm rolled in and the windows all leaked. Not just a minor leak...but a small waterfall rolling down the wall. This obviously made the floor wet and there was no way to stop it. Upon closer inspection, the window was installed upside down. I laughed it off........ The next day another storm came in around 1:00PM. I will admit, this was a strong storm and it knocked out power as well as water and flooded almost all of the cabins. Well after the storm had moved through, no one in the lodge area had any idea when the power or water might come back on. We finally had to go across the road and find someone there who might know something. A gentleman who was hooking up a generator to the bait shop said that power lines were down all over and that it might be days before they have power or water. The power didn't concern me but now having water (and a working toilet) was a concern. All of the guests in all of the cabins began talking to each other because no one from the lodge was giving us any information....in fact there was no one around. After not getting any communication all afternoon, we decided to get a room in Ogallala for that evening so we would at least be able to use the rest room. I went to turn in the keys and a lady, who I suspect was the owner, said she would not give anyone a refund. She stated that the website states that there are no refunds for weather. I can understand that if the power is out but no running water is an issue. She didn't seem to care and could not give me any direction on what we should do for restroom use. To me this was unacceptable and unfortunate. It certainly didn't seem very "Nebraskan" as we don't treat each other that way in our state. I should have known early on that this property had issues as there was a fishing tournament going on and not one of the tournament anglers was staying here. We learned our lesson and won't stay here again....in fact I would deter anyone from staying here. There are much better places on Lake McConaughy to stay with friendly people who will make your stay enjoyable. The folks at Kingsley left a real bad taste in my mouth and I hope that doesn't stop me from returning to the area.

Kingsley Lodge is awesome! I just checked out from the 4th of July weekend and we couldn't have enjoyed our experience more. The cabin we stayed in was newly remodeled and it was beautiful. They had picnic tables and frills for us to use. We even rented a pontoon boat from them for a very reasonable rate. The lake is beautiful and the weather was warm. There is a store too that sold everything we needed. The staff was very nice and helpful. They helped me figure out what fishing lures to buy and where to fish. Everyone greeted me with a smile and a hello. The owner made sure my party was taken care of. Thank you kingsley for making my trip amazing! Oh and I amlost forgot about the great clothes they have too! I bought something for each of my kids and myself of course. So cute and so fun. I highly recommend this place!

I have two young children and the owner and employees were very accommodating to finding me the best rental for my family. The cabins have quaint rustic feel that is perfect for a getaway from the hustle of everyday life. For what was provided in each of the cabins I found the price to be very reasonable. The convenience store had just about everything I needed for tackle and the clothes were cute and unique as well as at a good price.
