Came here to celebrate our anniversary. We had a great - the food was great (especially the dessert) and the atmosphere was great. To start off, we had the torched saba, it was a nice touch, not needing more season and being just salty enough. For our mains we got the aburi kaisen don and the crab uni udon. We loved the don - the fish being super fresh and the other sides complementing the main dish. With the udon, the ingredients were just as fresh, the uni being nice and creamy - not bitter at all. Though I would’ve enjoyed more if the udon’s sauce was slightly thicker. The dessert (parfait) was def the highlight of our night, having amazing assortment of textures!

We came on Christmas Day since this was among the few opened. We ordered the Kingyo Makunouchi platter and it was such a great experience. Each small dish was a discovery. You get quality and value for $40. We've had Japanese food in Japan and the ones we had here are at par in terms of taste and preparation. The taro ice cream blew me away... it's light, subtle yet the taste lingers. I vote this as the best Japanese resto so far I've eaten at in Toronto. Much love. 🫶🏻

Kingyo Fisherman’s Market is a vibrant and popular Japanese restaurant in Toronto, particularly known for its fresh seafood and izakaya-style dishes. It's a great spot for those who love high-quality, flavorful Japanese food with a bit of a modern twist. The ambiance and food quality here have earned it a solid reputation. The food here is really where Kingyo shines. The menu is packed with an exciting range of Japanese dishes, with a heavy focus on seafood, but also a variety of options for non-seafood lovers. If you love fresh, high-quality Japanese seafood and a lively, vibrant dining experience, Kingyo Fisherman’s Market is an excellent choice. It’s perfect for a night out with friends or a date if you’re looking for something a little more dynamic and fun. The food is consistently praised for its freshness and creativity, while the ambiance keeps things exciting!

This is a great spot for delicious japanese food! They dont have a lot of sushi roll options but they have soooooo much more. Fortunately, they have a couple of platter options that allowed us to try a bunch of different things. The lotus root, salmon sashimi, crab udon…. I dont know where to begin listing all the delicious items. Cant wait to come back here. Oh and service is amazing.

Kingyo Izakaya in Toronto is a place that always buzzes with energy, and for good reason—it’s lovely and consistently very busy, creating a great atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the unique touch of having a small store inside that sells a variety of Japanese goods, letting you pick up some favorites while you're there. The staff were really nice and contributed to a pleasant dining experience. My feelings about the food, however, are a little mixed. One dish was absolutely spectacular: the torched salmon sushi. It was truly out of this world—a must-try that I would recommend without a moment's doubt. On the flip side, the don karaage did not meet the mark. I found it to be sub-par. The chicken itself was bland, and I was definitely not a fan of the accompanying radish puree. It was a disappointing bite, especially compared to the amazing sushi. Overall, while there's a definite hit-or-miss aspect to the menu based on my experience, the fantastic ambiance and the sheer brilliance of that torched salmon make it worth a visit. Just maybe steer clear of the don karaage!

I had yuzu gin tonic, sashimi salad, uni crab cream udon and Mont blanc tart. Overall the food is a bit on the saltier side. Sashimi salad was fresh and good, but the yuzu jelly was quite salty. I didn't finish the udon because the sauce was a bit bland, not much flavor other than the saltiness. I was hoping for stronger taste of uni. Mont blanc tart was bit of a letdown as well, basically I could only taste the flavor of chestnut on the top cream part, and the rest 70% of the tart was a plain cream pie base. The atmosphere was nice, has a small Japanese market attached to it. The decorations on the wall are a bit too loud and shiny, distracting from dining. Overall, not sure if I could justify the price, but the servers were friendly and attentive.

Food was delicious, but be prepared to wait awhile as they prepare your food. Don't expect to be in and out in 30 mins for dinner here. Portion size were great, and the kids meal they offer are simply amazing. The ramen was also very tasty, as well as the rest of the food we tried.

Delicious meal. We had the special Makunouchi dinner set. 12 varieties of small dishes. Very filling and easily share by 2 or 3 people. The unagi eel rice took a bit longer as it was a stone pot rice and developed a great crust. I liked how they suggested to eat from the bowl but also offered side broth to make it like a wet rice porridge. It made the meal extra warm and creamy. The torched pressed sushi was insanely delicious. And we ended with scoop of taro and green tea ice cream...
