Kinley Cincinnati Downtown (Cincinnati, Ohio) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Among the one-offs and oddballs of the Tribute Portfolio, Marriott’s network of affiliated independent boutique hotels, is the Kinley Cincinnati, a 1910-vintage historical building transformed into as modern a lodging as you’re likely to find in North America. (That it’s in Ohio says something about the reach of the boutique-hotel genre, and the renaissance of Cincinnati itself.) Chic, comfortable rooms, plentiful vibrant art, and a youthful atmosphere and clientele make for a memorable experience; the Exchange café and bar and Khora, the ancient-grains restaurant, are fixtures in the hotel’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood." - Tablet Hotels

We recently stayed at the Kinley Hotel for our anniversary Galen Gordon the General Manager was great to deal with. He knew it was our anniversary and set us up in a room with a nice king size bed. The bar was nice to sit and share some drinks at. The entire staff was great and and treated us like family. I wish I would have got their names but failed to do so. The 2 valet parking attendants were great as well. Breakfast is my favorite meal and it was great. Will definely stay here again.

We booked a room here for a pit stop on our way south for our anniversary trip, and we will definitely be back! Getting to the valet parking was tricky at first (probably because the location is downtown Cincy and Jazz Fest was also happening, so roads were closed, and roads were traffic jammed but we eventually found the way.) Check-in was smooth, and both the parking attendants and the front of the house were very accommodating. The size of the room (corner suite) is great for a downtown hotel, and we loved the comfort of the bed and the large shower. We had a corner room with lots of windows, and it was great, BUT the windows definitely need to be cleaned, and the sills need dusting. We will recommend this hotel and stay here again!

The staff I encountered were lovely. From the valet to the front desk, everyone was super nice and helpful! The room was pretty small for a family of 3. It was very clean though. Bathroom was also clean. It has a sliding door that was kind of hard to open and close. It would be nice to get a list of things to do in the area. Overall, great stay.

Great walkable downtown location. Friendly accommodating staff. Comfortable room. Nicely decorated. I would choose this hotel again for my next stay in Cincinnati. |Shout out to Maddie at the front desk. I appreciated her warm welcome. Thank you!

Google
Very clean, unique hotel in a great location. Good value and would certainly stay here again. The front desk gentleman was funny and very helpful. The bartender was nice and I'm not sure if they were new or just didn't know what they were doing but they were super slow making patrons drinks and my old fashioned tasted more like a shot of fireball than any old fashioned I'd ever had. That being said, I would stay here again and had a good experience during my stay.

Google
A nice hotel, within walking distance to all of our favorite downtown attractions. The neighborhood is still a little rough around the edges. There appears to be some new renovation of buildings. The rooms are a bit small and bed was not the most comfortable. Would be nice to have more mood lighting in the room. The hotel service is excellent! The front desk staff and housekeeping were willing to do anything to make our stay more comfortable- like giving us extra towels. The valet was also very attentive and helpful.

Google
My new favorite hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, customer service is great, and the cleaning staff (huge shout out to the friendly and pleasant cleaning staff) do an incredible job at keeping the facilities spotless. Rooms are small but cozy. Everything seems so new since it’s maintained well, huge plus. Fitness center is small but has a cable tower and dumbbells up to 50lbs, two treadmills, a bike, and an elliptical.

Went there for our honeymoon. Love the staff. Very kind and generous to our celebration. Galen Gorden is your man. Love the room decor and cleanliness. The restaurant in the hotel was amazing and the food was delicious. Love the downtown vibe and the reasonable price. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
What a gorgeous hotel! I absolutely love the decor. Located downtown Cincinnati, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The Kinley only has the option to valet your car -- pricy at $46 daily. There's a small lounge area and bar. They have a small menu. I ordered room service, but wasn't impressed. I feel like the room is spacious for being downtown. Again, the decor is amazing. Large king bed, armoire and desk area, gorgeous wallpaper and large windows. The bathroom is small, but sleek.

Yelp
I booked two rooms for a one night stay at the Kinley for myself and two friends. By and large, my room was great as I was on the top floor which was quiet. The bed and towels were soft, the room was comfortable and no issues on my end. My friends however were told that their room wasn't ready despite us arriving at 9pm which is absurd. They were asked to be moved into a room with bunk beds which is unacceptable. Instead, they were moved to a room with a horrible layout and the air conditioning was not functioning properly as it went back and forth between freezing and hot. I emailed their manager and received no response on trying to make it right, which is also unacceptable.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at Kinley. The location was very central and an easy walk to multiple locations around the city to eat, drink and hangout. The staff were super friendly and prompt with any requests. Didn't make it to the gym but I did see that they had a Peloton . The room was nice and clean, simple and clean design. Bed linen was clean and nice and comfortable. Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. Nice to even have restaurant located on site and even a little bar. Everything you need all in one spot. Definitely will make Kinley a spot to stay when I'm in Cincy.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I had booked a three-night stay weeks in advance. My flight was delayed, so I checked in late at 2am, and when I did, they told me that the hotel was fully booked and that they had given my room away. They directed me to another hotel which was already sold out and was not remotely helpful or sympathetic about the situation they put me in. I had to find another hotel on my own literally in the middle of the night. This was an awful experience and no way to treat anyone, much less a loyal Bonvoy member for years. If this can happen to me, it can happen to you.

Yelp
This review is for the bar only. Like many hotel bars it's a pretty hit-or-miss option. On my most recent visit, I stopped by around lunchtime on an October weekday. The bar area was vacant except for the bartender who was caught off-guard by having a customer. As I sat and enjoyed my beer a few other guests eventually populated the area, doing some remote work while enjoying a beverage. Again, the bartender though friendly enough, seemed a little out-of-sorts with having customers at this time of day. Bar and restrooms are clean and there's nothing really wrong with this place, just not much going on in the atmosphere department.

Yelp
The Kinley is a beautiful artsy boutique hotel in a great location Downtown Cincinnati. The staff greets you and treats you like family. The GM has elevated the experience, service and food and beverage offerings. I will continue to choose the Kinley 1st when staying downtown Cincinnati.

Yelp
This hotel came recommended by a co-worker of mine. My wife and I decided to stay here after a night on the town for her bday. Each employee I dealt with was great. One of the front desk workers was wearing dirty crocs - a style I will never understand. Again, all employees were great by being helpful, informative and accessible. At the end of the night we made our way back to the hotel. Stopped at the depressingly vacant and overly bright bar for a night cap. Sterling was our bar tender - great drinks. Everything he recommended we tried and we enjoyed. The room was small but we weren't hanging out in the room so it was fine. Clean and I thought comfortable. Make the bar more inviting and I could see this being an enjoyable little spot.

Yelp
This hotel is super cute, and quaint. The staff, especially Matt at the front desk are super helpful and friendly. This will definitely be my go to stay in Cincinnati in the future!

Yelp
This place has terrible service. They are always blocking the streets forcing people to literally have to back up on a one way street. They refuse to move cars and as a result, are always having the cops called on them..... exactly what you want to have at your hotel. Valet is rude and I was actually assaulted by one of them when I tried to complain to the front desk about all the cars blocking the roadways. Look out for all the beggars and smell. Furthermore, everything around this place has closed. Avoid at all cost!!

Yelp
This hotel is located in a perfect spot, close to many restaurants and many parking garages in case you don't want to valet park your car for $37/n. Rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable and the fitness center is well equipped. There is a bar in the lobby, little on the pricey side but it carry a good selection of high end liquor. This hotel will up sell you a room upgrade vs offer a complementary room upgrade. Most of the staff I communicated with was super nice. Almost everyone at the hotel was wearing masks which was nice to see during a pandemic. Fitness room had a box of disinfectant wipes in addition to individually wrapped towels. I did not see any social distancing signs inside of the elevator but I hope by now people would know not to crowd an elevator. During my stay we had a largest snow fall in 12 years. The hotel was prepared for it and by the time I left in the morning the sidewalks were clear around the hotel. Overall a great stay and will stay here next time I am in town.

Yelp
I travel to Cincinnati for work on a pretty regular basis and usually stay at the Westin downtown. Decided to change it up this time and stay at the Kinley and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. The hotel is close by to many great restaurants and houses a very good coffee shop in the lobby that serves a great breakfast and has a fun bar for a nightly hang. It's a boutique hotel that delivers a 5 star experience. As a loyal Bonboy member I was upgraded to a corner room and had a very well appointed room that house a very good steam iron and a walk-in shower that's very roomy. The room had a very comfy small sectional and boasted a 60 inch TV that was easy to maneuver and move to whatever angle I wanted. I really appreciate this as I often like to hook my computer to the TV and having a tv with an mount that you can move is a great amenity. The bed was comfortable and the AC in the room worked great at whatever temperature I wanted. There is a valet that is 42 dollars a night or a garage across the street that is self park but no in and out privileges. I truly and enjoyed my stay here and actually rebooked for another trip I have coming up back to Cincinnati.

Yelp
One of many downtown hotels. The location is walking distance to both stadiums. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. There are many inexpensive parking garages in the area if you don't want to use their valet parking. Our upgraded room was small, but had windows on two walls.

Yelp
I'm giving this hotel 3 stars for several reasons. First reason, look at the chipped paint on the wall, ummm this is a brand new hotel, why is the paint chipped near the plug? Second reason, the curtain doesn't close all the way, sunlight woke us up both mornings. This is a new hotel, why aren't the curtains closing properly? Next, look at my chat with the front desk prior to my arrival. Ummm they said we could warm up our food in their break room; husband tried to warm food and they said, "we don't have a microwave," so why did the team member in the chat say that we can use the microwave? See pics for this chat. As a gold member, I don't feel you truly get any perks. Mediocre maybe because I was using my certificate?!?!? That I earned by spending money. I don't know, maybe it's the quarantine but I think this stay could have been better. The lobby is beautiful, small rooms and just not what I'm used to. My last stay was at "The 9" in Cleveland and this doesn't even compare. The only saving grace was the staff being decently nice. I don't think I will stay here again.

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Kinley for a wedding and had a variety of issues. First, I tried booking with the block room rate online, but it would not let me. I called the hotel and after about 10-15 minutes of being on hold I was told that I was not able to book with the discount rate for one of the days. I thought this was odd, but accepted. When I informed the bride of this she said that was untrue and called the hotel to get me the discount. Next, online it said that they offered bassinets/pack in plays for infants, however when we arrived late Thursday night the manager on duty didn't even seem to know what one of these were. This led to my newborn son to sleep in his stroller for a night which was not safe. The next morning I asked again and this time the manager said "of course, I'll send one right up!" Third, our hotel keys stopped working, not once, not twice, but three times in the course of 2.5 days. Constantly getting locked out of our room with an infant was extremely upsetting. Also, the hotel room, which we were paying $200/night for, was extremely small, had curtains that wouldn't close, and the weirdest pillows I've ever slept on. The pillows were large, loud, uncomfortable, and seemed to be filled with air? They deflated throughout the night. Lastly, the valet service took a while to bring the cars around. The workers' seemed to be hustling and were very nice though. Overall, many of the workers seemed slightly incompetent, the room was a let down, and we had many technical errors throughout the weekend. Besides being in a good location, I would literally recommend any other hotel you can find.

Yelp
Inside entrance of hotel seemed messy, cluttered - and lobby/sitting area was dark and dusty looking (many of the lights were out/off). It was as though I had arrived unannounced. Unseasoned staff - many seemed out of their element, unprepared, unprofessional. Supplies seemed to be in short supply (body soap, towels, coffee/beverages, lightbulbs, etc.). Getting to my room off the elevator was like walking a labyrinth, confusing. Room was clean and nicely furnished. Pillows were like a helium filled balloon. Shower soap was a quarter filled. Only two towels?

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! I had the opportunity to stay here for work several weeks after it opened. The decor is beautiful! For someone that travels a LOT for work, seeing decor that is different is always welcomed, otherwise every hotel feels the same. The rooms had soaring ceilings and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was wonderful as well. I needed a meeting area to do some work and they recommended a communal workspace just around the corner. The sales director even organized for us to go there for the day, which was extremely helpful and kind! If I get to come back to Cincy I will definitely stay here again. Can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
We recently stayed here for a weekend. Our overall experience was mediocre at best. First, the location, while not a far walk from the river area, and arenas, is in a rather run down area with several boarded up buildings. Not much around it for bars, restaurants. You need to walk a couple blocks to find anything worthwhile (there is an Argentinian restaurant right across the street that is supposed to be good, but we didn't try it). The lobby is uninviting, and tiny. The restaurant was not open so food options were limited to a couple things available in the bar area for breakfast only. No real cream or half and half for morning coffee. The room was small with no sitting area. Just a bed (not overly comfortable), small desk, and very small desk chair, a cubby (not closet) to hang a few clothes, and a couple drawers. Lighting in the bathroom was awful! Couldn't see a thing. Problematic if you are trying to put on makeup. The shower was big, but completely all tile, and the shower floor was slippery (slimy). The door to the bathroom is a very large sliding door that was very heavy, hard to move, and didn't provide much privacy. The drapes in our room were broken so the only way we could close them for privacy, was to use pant hangers to clip them shut(the ceilings are so high we couldn't reach to try and fix them ourselves). Also, Netflix was only available using home account and password. You can hear everything in the hallways, and there is a lot of street noise. I will say that the staff were friendly, and housekeeping did a nice job. For the money, we expected a more comfortable hotel experience, especially from a Marriot owned hotel. They went cheap all around with this remodel.

Yelp
JC welcomed me at the front desk, was hospitable in getting a quiet room, the burnt carrot salad was delicious, there's a good energy here because of the caring staff. Will stay another night to savor more. Stay strong!

Yelp
I recently stayed at the The Kinley Hotel in Cincinnati over the holidays and I can't express enough how charming our stay was. Not only did we get a corner room with a front facing view of Race Street but we got a room with a sitting area, a gorgeous interior design, a large bathroom and shower area, and a magnificently large swivel TV (perfect for cuddling up to movies in bed). I stayed at The Kinley for an extended stay and it felt like being with family. The reception staff couldn't be nicer or more welcoming. We were greeted with smiles every day and Christmas cookies over the holiday. Santa even left us milk and cookies on Christmas Eve! I enjoyed the Khora, the hotel's restaurant. The food there is great and the layout of the space is perfect for gatherings but also maintaining social distance. I have to call out Tanesha (who in my opinion is a star employee with her positive attitude and fun demeanour) and Theresa for making our room look nice every time we returned to it. The Kinley is close to Over The Rhine, and a nice walk to the central park area. I should mention we stayed at The Kinley with our tiny chihuahua. Since The Kinley is dog friendly, our dog was welcome everywhere. She's a huge part of our family, so being able to have her there was so special. I highly recommend The Kinley for weekend stays or extended. If you need extra hangers or any little thing to make your visit more comfortable, they'll take care of you. The cleaning service is very good, and the lobby is kept in immaculate shape--it's very instagrammable. My only request (which is the only complaint I can even muster) is that they carry more varieties of tea like chamomile in their restaurant and bar area as this was the only thing I felt was missing (and that's such a small detail but like I said, they had pretty much all their bases covered). I can't wait to return and know that I'll be staying here again soon next time I visit Cincinnati.

Daniel W.

Yelp
Just stayed at The Kinley. My friend was mugged directly in front of the hotel at 11 pm. As he tried to get away from the criminals he went to the door and found that the door had been locked so he couldn't get in and there was no one either at the front desk or the bell stand. He pounded on the door and eventually someone came to let him in. He called the Police and filed a report. This is not a safe location. Hotel management handled the entire incident incredibly poorly. I would not return to this hotel under any circumstances.
