Kinross Winery, Cellar Door & Cottages

We stopped here on our bike tours and definitely a worthy stop - a great selection of wines through several different vineyards. We particularly liked the Wild Irishman and Valli wine offerings. They had Pinot noirs from the different regions in Otago so it was fun to try all varietals - full bodied from the hot regions and fruiter from the cooler regions. The food was also fantastic; we loooved the broccoli and could have eaten 5 plates of that. The pizza was delicious and had a great crust.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at this wedding venue and couldn’t be happier with our choice. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The venue itself is stunning—beautifully maintained, elegant, and the perfect setting for a memorable wedding day. The food was outstanding. Every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and received endless compliments from our guests. The quality and variety were exceptional, and it truly elevated the entire celebration. What really set this venue apart was the service. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring shoutout to Tess, Nicole, Abby and Amy. They made sure every detail was handled smoothly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our special day. Their organization, kindness, and attention to detail made a huge difference. We are so grateful to the entire team for making my sister’s wedding day unforgettable. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an amazing location, incredible food, and top-notch service.

We had a wonderful experience at Kinross. The lunch was superbe — delicious pizza paired perfectly with their great selection of wines. The setting was beautiful, especially the outdoor garden, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable. The wine tasting with Émeline was top notch. She was engaging and her passion for wine truly came through in her explanations. It made the tasting both interesting and memorable. Highly recommend a visit!

Had a great experience here and will return when next in NZ. Cellar door -hosted in a group that requires booking. Did not have a enjoyable experience with the presenter being quite scripted and not interactive with guests. Felt he was pushing more on sales than immersing us with the experience of wines of Central Otago. This is still a must visit and highly recommended saved by the people who work at the restaurant and the food.

Lovely first time experience and in a new country on New Year’s Eve! $25 pp for the base level wine tasting. Definitely worth your money with the wines we got to taste. The service we had did feel a bit rushed even with an engaged audience but the wine was nice. Mix of local white and red wine. My favourite was the Valli Pinot Gris. Reasonable prices to buy a bottle you tasted and had options of organising shipping back to your country. These options included wine club memberships which ended up being best for the US couple we had in our group, as the savings paid for the tariffs.

We had a fantastic experience at Kinross today. The tasting was beautifully curated, featuring outstanding wines from Hawkshead, Valli, Kinross, High Garden Vineyard, and Wild Irishman — each with its own distinct character and sense of place. It was the perfect introduction to the depth and diversity of Central Otago winemaking. A special mention goes to Émeline, who was absolutely brilliant. She guided us through every wine with warmth, knowledge, and genuine passion, and answered all our questions with exceptional clarity and enthusiasm. Her explanations added so much richness to the experience. The setting, the wines, and the hospitality made this one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing food, exceptional service, and a perfect anniversary experience! Maria and Renee provided top-notch service, making us feel so welcome. The pizza was delicious, the lamb shanks were tender and flavorful, and the green salad was crisp and refreshing. We paired everything with a lovely wine that complemented the meal perfectly. For dessert, the affogato was the perfect end to our meal. To top it all off, they surprised us with a sweet treat for our wedding anniversary! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Kinross for two nights on our honeymoon and had an amazing time! We arrived much earlier than anticipated due to a shift in our travel schedule and although our room wasn't ready the team was incredible hospitable, getting us settled at the bistro and making sure we were able to join a wine tour; Renee especially was great at checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. And once we did make it into the room, they had left a lovely surprise for us, knowing that we were celebrating. The grounds were beautiful; we loved sitting at the tables drinking wine, finding spots to eat dinner outside, having coffee outside the room in the morning, and soaking in the hot tub under the stars in the evening. Speaking of dinner, the chef-prepared meals were some of the best we had our whole trip! And of course, the wine was fabulous — we had to get some to bring home. Rommel was wonderful helping us select the bottles we wanted to send back. Shortly after we left, the team reached out to let me know we'd left something behind in the room; Cathy was extremely helpful coordinating its return to us. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer at this beautiful space with a lovely team. I'd highly recommend Kinross to anyone I know who loves wine and is visiting the Queenstown area, and I hope to be able to go back!
