Let me start off by saying, this place is amazing. This lodge has what it takes to have true Scottish hospitality at the highest level. My son and I drove up to this hotel very late in the evening looking for place to lay our head since the hotel up the road 5 miles gave our room away at the height of peak season. As like all the other hotels and B&B's we stopped at before getting here, they also didn't have any rooms available. We sat in the bar as Aoife, the bartender made numerous calls to B&B's in the areas to see if she could locate a room for us. She gave it her all and in the end my son and I were ok with sleeping in the car. She was going to locate some blankets for us and told us to park around back and we will be safe. The deer and the goats that come by in the overnight hours are very friendly. Before she brought us the blankets she made a call to the manager, Helen, making sure if it was ok. Aoife brought us the blankets and then she walked back to take a phone call. On the other end of the line was Helen, the manage, she said, she wouldn't have a mother and son sleeping outside in the cold and made an executive decision. The owners of the hotel were on a holiday vacation and they have their own private suite at the lodge. Helen and Aoife put us up in their room for the night. We both couldn't believe what has happened. I think both my son and I were in shock. We went from sleeping in the car to laying our head of a plush pillow and comfy bed. The next morning we were able to meet Helen face to face and to tell her how much their generosity meant to my son and myself. We even got to play with her dog Bailey who is a real cutie. In this world, some people are sent to protect and take care of you when you least expect it. I think on this day it was Aoife and Helen. We will ever be in debt to you. If you make it the states you both have a place to stay in Texas. Sending our love to Scotland <3, Sheryl and Casey Curtis
