After a very wet walk we ate a really good meal at the Kintail Lodge. The food is (in the best sense) homely and well prepared. I cannot speak to the accommodation but it is a very convenient stop off to eat for walkers, and, motorists heading to Skye. We were stuck for a taxi at the end of the evening and Helen, the manager, stepped in and gave us a lift back. Those actions really make a holiday. Thank you Helen.

Tbh I had low expectations but everything was great. Really friendly switched on staff. Food with big heart. Great atmosphere on the bar and clean modern bedroom. A part from a slightly raw tomato for breakfast I couldn't fault it. What a beautiful part of Scotland.

A wonderfully clean and quiet European-style hotel, situated right by the lake. It's the perfect environment to relax and clear your mind. Its prime location for travelers journeying between the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. The hotel serves dinner as well. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to make a reservation.

Let me start off by saying, this place is amazing. This lodge has what it takes to have true Scottish hospitality at the highest level. My son and I drove up to this hotel very late in the evening looking for place to lay our head since the hotel up the road 5 miles gave our room away at the height of peak season. As like all the other hotels and B&B's we stopped at before getting here, they also didn't have any rooms available. We sat in the bar as Aoife, the bartender made numerous calls to B&B's in the areas to see if she could locate a room for us. She gave it her all and in the end my son and I were ok with sleeping in the car. She was going to locate some blankets for us and told us to park around back and we will be safe. The deer and the goats that come by in the overnight hours are very friendly. Before she brought us the blankets she made a call to the manager, Helen, making sure if it was ok. Aoife brought us the blankets and then she walked back to take a phone call. On the other end of the line was Helen, the manage, she said, she wouldn't have a mother and son sleeping outside in the cold and made an executive decision. The owners of the hotel were on a holiday vacation and they have their own private suite at the lodge. Helen and Aoife put us up in their room for the night. We both couldn't believe what has happened. I think both my son and I were in shock. We went from sleeping in the car to laying our head of a plush pillow and comfy bed. The next morning we were able to meet Helen face to face and to tell her how much their generosity meant to my son and myself. We even got to play with her dog Bailey who is a real cutie. In this world, some people are sent to protect and take care of you when you least expect it. I think on this day it was Aoife and Helen. We will ever be in debt to you. If you make it the states you both have a place to stay in Texas. Sending our love to Scotland <3, Sheryl and Casey Curtis

Our opinion of Kintail Lodge improved throughout our stay. Unfortunately we entered through the bar, not realising that the intended entrance for the accommodation is around the side, which we only saw when we left. As such, we arrived in the bar and felt a bit conspicuous walking through with our luggage while everyone was enjoying a drink. The room was fine, nothing particularly special but clean, spacious and functional. We ate in the bar, enjoying watching the goats pass by over the road, and the food exceeded our expectations. The chef clearly takes pride in the food and you could tell the ingredients and preparation are carefully thought through. We spent a lovely, relaxed evening enjoying dinner and then playing pool, realising that the bar is actually a really welcoming space. The hotel is on a busy road but the sound insulation is excellent. Also the view from our room and the hotel generally is spectacular if the weather co-operates, and you can ignore the road as it did for us. All in all, we were happy with our stay but, looking back at what we paid across our road trip this was our most expensive room and I'm not sure this is justified as the high point was the evening meal which is obviously paid for separately.

I can't comment on the rooms, we were staying at a campsite down the road who recommended the lodge for food, we went for a meal and a drink. The food was enjoyable and well presented. The service was excellent, we arrived a little late but we were allowed a meal. We spoke with residents who said they were more than happy with the accommodation.

Thank you to Glen and rest of staff for welcoming me late to the lodge. Helping me with my bag to my room and offering great company and chats during my dinner. As single lady traveler it was comforting to sit at the local corner spot at the bar and have the company and attentive service. The dolphins the next morning was also an added bonus for my wee stay at the Lodge.

Yelp
Nice respite on the way to the Isle of Skye. Our tour bus stopped in for a few minutes to enjoy a dram or two and use the facilities. There's a large bar and restaurant area, though at 3 in the afternoon, it was pretty quiet. The highlight was the canine companion who sat calmly by the windows and let you snuggle away from the dreary weather as you sipped your dram. Worth a stop, especially since we were told there's not much else in the area. Apparently, it's nicely situated for some good hiking.

Yelp
Our first trip to Scotland for my son's wedding and we were fortunate enough to find the Kintail Lodge Restaurant. We had a party of 9 and we made a quick reservation which was ready when we arrived. The bartenders set us up with drinks including locally sourced specialities which were amazing including " Tommy's Gin"gin and tonic which was a real winner. When the food arrived we started to eat and everyone was silent for a while and then all we could do was talk about how amazing the food was. We had the fish and chips, Caledonian steak pie, Salmon, Duck, and Venison. Every dish was prepared to Perfection ... then came desserts... rubbed tarts, pavlova with lemon curd, and berries with ice cream... we had an amazing time and are returning tomorrow night with our full wedding party of 11 to feast again! Thank you for the special evening kintail

Yelp
Great selection, service, and food. 5 star experience for an excellent price. Great beer and wine selection. We chose an abundance of items and they all delivered. Food was piping hot and excellent. Pictured is the Sea Beam. Nothing short of perception. Best chips I've had in Kyle, great soup rep pepper with basil fresh & light. Quick service. The table next to us got ice cream, the portion was out of this world I was praying someone at my table would order!

Yelp
Just spent 4 nights here. Great location good rooms and a very friendly, busy bar and resteraunt. Food has been good with good variation ( Soup of the day changed every day) Specials rotated abot 30% a day. Standard menu has good options - the sticky toffee pudding is particularly good. Friendly, fun staff. This is a good base to explore this area.

Yelp
This is a review for the restaurant. Had a couple of lovely meals there while I was in the area. My hostess had suggested it as one of the better places close to where I was staying and I was pleased enough the first night that I returned again for dinner the following evening. My first dinner there was late and the place wasn't too full. Dinner took a little while, but it was fine. The quality of the food was very nice and the waitstaff were very polite and friendly. I was well taken care of. The second night was good as well, even though it was somewhat earlier in the evening and the place was packed. The smoked salmon starter is very tasty and I enjoyed the salmon entree the second evening. The vanilla bean sauce is really wonderful.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel/lodge for several nights and although the room decor is a little dated, the hotel staff is extremely nice and the view is incredible. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxed and it reminds me of a large Bed and Breakfast. Were I to visit this area again, I would definitely stay here again.
