Great atmosphere and food. Friendly staff. The grilled prawns were surprisingly amazing - more tasty than I expected. The aubergine was lovely. The corn & spider roll was also fantastic. The only left down was the chicken teriyaki - was dry and not enough flavour or sauce. Beer float was great. Overall, highly recommended

The food at Kintaro Izakaya was good. The Maguro Tataki (Seared Tuna Sashimi) was awesome. Would definitely recommend if you are craving a good seared tuna sashimi :) The Sabo Shio (Pan-fried mackerel) was awesome. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The Negesaki Champon was good. The broth was rich but smooth. The noodles and seafood were delicious. The Set A Skewers were okay. We felt the skewers were a bit over-cooked and lacked flavour. The skewers for set A were the following: Karubi (Beef striploin with karubi sauce), Sanmainiku (Pork belly with sea salt), Cheese Mune (Chicken breast with cheese), Shrimp (Shrimp with sea salt), and Eringi (Buttered king mushroom with veggie spices). The Sapporo Polar Beer was awesome. It’s a good smooth beer. Loved how the swirl of icy beer kept the whole beer nice and cold throughout the meal.

Really loved the vibe at Kintaro Izakaya — it feels genuinely authentic with real Japanese decor and atmosphere. The place has a casual, fun energy that makes it great for hanging out with friends or a relaxed date night. Some of the food was excellent, especially the skewers (the beef was the standout) and the chef’s sashimi, which was fresh and perfectly done. It’s a bit pricey for the portion sizes, but the bar location is great, the service was accessible and friendly, and overall it’s worth the price for the experience. Definitely a spot I’d go back to.

Food here is incredibly delicious, but it’s a bit pricey, and the portions are quite small. We had dinner on Sunday and had to wait about 30 minutes for our table. The interior is cozy and atmospheric, and the service is both fast and polite.

I came here on Wednesday night, October 22, after reading many good reviews about this pub. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The waitress was unfriendly and didnt seem to care at all. The food was mediocre but overpriced. The chicken karaage, which came with only three pieces of fries, wasn’t cooked properly. Besides that, I ordered the skewers set A, okonomiyaki, gyoza, and two Polar beers. The total bill came to almost $120, which was definitely not worth it. The worst part is, my friend threw up right after we left the pub. This experience was terrible. First time here, and for sure, the last.

Absolutely amazing experience! Kintaro Izakaya is a hidden gem that instantly transports you to Japan the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is warm, authentic, and beautifully designed, making it feel like a true Japanese dining experience. The service is outstanding, the staff are friendly, attentive, The food is absolutely delicious, with each dish prepared fresh and full of flavour whether cold or hot, from the appetizers to the mains. Everything we tried was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.

I love this place! Japanese food is one of my favorite cuisine’s and Kintaro did not disappoint. Reservation is highly recommended, if not a must. Came here for a dinner and we enjoyed it so much. Service, ambiance and food quality was a pleasure and I crave for the next time I’ll be back!

So glad we chose to try this Izakaya, this is by far one of the best we've tried! Flavor is on point for all the dishes we ordered. I just want to emphasize the pork belly skewers Sanmainiku as it was perfectly seasoned and grilled! Anyone wanting to try this place should make reservations as walking in might result in a bit of a wait. Will definitely go back try more of their offerings
