A very local breakfast stop, open very early, with very local price Language barrier for me a foreign tourist somehow made the experience rather ‘neighborly’ where the waitress trying to explain the menu and recommendation and ordering with gestures and face expression, coupled with helps from local customers also with gestures and expression, felt like blending in the Punta Arenas morning. The menu is simple to me, sandwich cheese or without cheese. The simplest breakfast, great start of the day.

What a fun place to grab a bite. The atmosphere is very fun in here with only barstool seating. The waitress told us of the history of the chorripan to Punta Arenas. The banana milk was delicious! Highly recommend if you are visiting Punta Arenas.

A very local place where they sell local 'sandwich' called Choripan. Not too tourist friendly as they don't speak english, had to do some translation. The place is really small and only had limited sittings. Waited for about 15mins before someone left and we managed to get a seat. Ordered the choripan and the one with cheese to try. To be honest I am not sure that is the sauce but it tasted okay. This looks like a very local dish. Parking along the street is tough, if you managed to get a parking, remember to pay the parking attendant.

One of Punta Arenas biggest hotspots. Roca is a great place to get a quick bite and coffee! The small bite size sandwiches only have two options available, with or without cheese. The food is pretty good and considering how busy it always is, I'd say it's very popular. One of the places you have to try while you're in the city. The service is very quick and they turn those things out in record time. Considering how busy it is throughout the whole day, they are very direct and quick with the orders. I've seen loads of people walking around with the distinct yellow/brown coffee cups. If I was a coffee drinker I'd definitely try it out but it's not for me. I can tell by seeing everyone that they loved it tho! The interior design has a Universidad de Chile theme where the walls are adorned with merchandise from shirts to flags and whatnot. It's a nice vibe with a retro cafe style interior.

This is a Punta Arenas institution. I herd about it from a host in Santiago who was from here. Its pretty retro styled and the two times i visited it was full. There is only 2 options of stuffed mini breads and some banana milk and tea and coffee available. They are delicious and after tasting a few you will want to come back or take a few extra for a another snack.

In Google this place is viewed as a hipster coffee bar, nothing can be further from the truth, there were no earrings, tattoos or bad haircuts in sight. The coffee was from a one push button machine and very boring, we tried a pikelet type snack that everyone was having and it was ok, good to try but not coming back for more.

Yelp
A let down, overall. We went on a Friday right after lunch rush and the place was pretty packed. It's a bit difficult to just do an in and out sort of deal because the experience of ordering your food is akin to ordering a simple screwdriver at a packed nightclub. The entire place is a counter with chairs all along the edge so you have to push your way through the crowd and wave down one of the staff to get your order in. Food here is cheap--a choriqueso (chorizo with cheese) will run you about $1USD (600 Chilean pesos) and they only take cash. We got our order to go, which I highly recommend as the place is standing room only. They pack the sandwiches in foil. The owner of the establishment is a diehard University of Chile fan and was handing out stickers for those who placed larger orders. We got two choriquesos to go. They were disappointing. Mostly bread and cheese, very little chorizo. As someone on here already mentioned, the chorizo is more of a pate that was hastily spread. You're really just getting some forgettable bread with some forgettable cheese in the middle. I wish they would charge an extra 200 pesos more and put some actual meat in their sandwiches. It's worth $1USD for sure though. You are definitely getting what you're paying for, so I can't be mad at that. If you're on a tight budget and you want a semi filling meal, go on over to this restaurant for some Chilean grilled cheese with a smear of chorizo pate. But if you can afford better, there are much better alternatives in the area and the "experience" of going to this establishment is really overrated. We didn't bother getting the leche con platano.

Yelp
This place is overrated. It was named the best 'picada' (dive restaurant) in Chile a couple years back so we had to try it. The food is plain boring and deceiving. The typical thing here is the leche con platano and chorizo sandwich, but the chorizo is more like a pate smeared on bread. I ordered the choriqueso (with cheese) and the cheese and bread were the protagonists instead of the chorizo which you can barely taste. Do go here if you want to try something typical in a historical place, but don't expect anything tasty. It's small enough to have as a snack and it's cheap. The leche con platano was good but nothing to rave about.
