This hotel was so old and looked like a rent by the hour hotel..velvety carpet down the hallway in the middle. Mirrors totally down both sides of the walls the rooms was so tiny. No ice machine, phone in room had no connections on it. Bed had a plastic sheet underneath the sheets. Grout in showered were full of black mould.. not being familiar with the area. It was kind of scary.. we had booked it on line. Everything looks so glamorous on line. Would never stay there again

Im trying different hotels in this area as I come to sydney a fair bit. My first time here . No lift so beware of this issue. Although staff will carry your bags for you. Room was small but ok for one person. Comfy bed. I had two issues . The air con remote although it recorded on or off did not actually work properly. I had to ring reception to ask how to turn in on or off. You have to be very close to the unit and wait for it to beep before it actually works. The second issue was when i returned to my room late on the second night my room card would not work. I had to wait for reception to answer my call to find out they had cancelled my card. The staff member wasnt at all empathetic to the situation but did get me into my room. The hotel is located in a great spot but for the price $250 p n I dont think I will be returning

One of the few places I'll actually recommend. While the rooms are basic and there is no elevator, what made this place so special was the staff. The staff and management go above and beyond, creating what feels like a community service for people. If you need somewhere to stay while supporting a patient at St. Vincent's, I highly recommend this hotel.

BED BUGS. We found a live bed bug in our bed. When a photo was shown to the manager, he tried to say it was "unclear where the photo was taken." When manager saw the bed bug with his own eyes, he tried to tell us it was not a bed bug. He eventually conceded that it was indeed a bed bug, but would not refund the two nights we spent GETTING BITTEN BY BED BUGS IN HIS HOTEL. Clearly knows nothing about bed bug infestations, tried to say that "since there was only one bed bug, it can't be an infestation." Those who have dealt with bed bugs before know that you rarely see live bed bugs LET ALONE DURING THE DAY until the infestation is severe. I am covered in bites. The service is absolutely abysmal and the rooms are vile. Do not give this place your business. Here is the review I left before we found the bed bug. Mosquitos all over the room, probably getting in through the bathroom window that doesn't fully close and has no bug screen. Air conditioning doesnt work, woke up with what I'm pretty sure are bed bug bites.

Worst stay in a hotel ever Rooms are pretty small, not cleaned very good and felt like 20 years old, as well as WIFI speed is pretty poor - very overpriced 280$ for one night. The worst thing was the noice, which was coming from a bar next to the hotel and you could hear walking someone else in the floor above you. When i complained about the noice the staff said it is coming from the bar, because they are having a private event, but i read in a reviews a couple of times that they complained about that as well. The bed is comfortable, even if it is pretty short. I am not petty, but for that price i expect way more…

It’s a shame, but this hotel is going downhill fast. The new owners are maximising revenue and minimising investment and it’s very clear to a returning guest. Don’t expect your room to be cleaned or sheets changed. That’s only after check out. Decor now includes dusty fake flowers and gaudy fake Chanel table runnners. Not exactly boutique hotel. Plus they rent their function space under the hotel for late night parties. DJ’s playing dance music at 1am and noise in the rooms of a boutique hotel? That’s not right.

It's an interesting place to say the least. I'm still a little confused why there were so many mirrors everywhere. Staff were generally quite friendly and helpful, location is excellent being a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross and a lot of good eating out options. The room itself was very small for the price, barely enough space to walk around the bed. The bedding was damp when we checked in and there was hair on the blanket which made us feel like it hadn't been cleaned particularly well. The door also did not fully close by itself so we had to take care to push the door shut every time we left the room. A few people mentioned the noise from the club downstairs, it was definitely noticeable on Friday night but not loud enough to be a problem for us on the second floor. Overall I think this would have been a great experience if the price was about half of what it was, but definitely would expect more for what we paid.

Google
We did not have a good experience. There was extremely loud dance music pumping through our room all night, we believe from the bar downstairs. It was so loud our floor was vibrating. We asked for a change of room but there was no solution offered. Our room was at the back of the building on Level 1. Based on our experience I would not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I stayed here a little before covid and it was a very nice stay. Like most places, it was expensive, but the room was comfortable, the bed was nice, and the location was great. Everything was clean. The staff were very helpful. I would stay here again.

Yelp
Because of misunderstanding in day arrival etc, we technically showed up a day late etc , still charged, fine, I work for airlines so I had bought lots of sweets for crew but they were bombarded with sweets so we decided to just give AMERICAN treats to front desk staff upon checkin, He immediately accused us of trying to BRIBE HIM! Please! They took the treats then gave us a room with a view of a brick building only two foot distance away, lousy attitudes from all staff, small ass rooms, scratchy towels, book somewhere else, and I used to be the biggest supporter of telling everyone Id meet to go to Australia! Never again! All we found were Chinese restaurants! Id never go to Sydney again, Id go elsewhere in aus. Worst vacation in history! And in 2003 I had fallen in love with Australia! Ugh!

Yelp
A friend recommended the hotel so I didn't think to look up any reviews or photos. The location is great, lots of places to eat and drink nearby and a 20 min walk to the city. The rooms are pretty dated, tiny queen sized bed, and there were long black hairs in the bathroom when we checked in. A tile had also fallen off the bathroom wall, and when you turned the cold tap on the handle falls off. There was also no toilet brush in the bathroom. I guess for $140 a night in Sydney this is what you get, but I was pretty disappointed.

Yelp
Not the best but not the worst. Had some troubles with certain items in my room not working but the front desk staff was very friendly and very accommodating, everything was taken care of quickly. **The TV was in a very weird place high up on the wall and the bed filled the room - there is only 1 foot of space to walk around to the bathroom but, there is a huge walk-in closet. Bathtub in bathroom was cool and there is a rain showerhead. No elevator - Not for the handicapped. Bar downstairs looks like an old speakeasy and was very cool although only open at night. Food and Cafe's nearby Walking distance to Opera House, Botanical Gardens, Shopping - everything touristy of Sydney. They will hold your luggage for free at the front desk AND there is a shuttle they can schedule to take you to the airport which is way cheaper than Uber or a Taxi

Yelp
Not a bad place to stay but prepared to climb the stairs as there is no elevator. The staff are lovely, very helpful and very knowledgable. I even noticed them carrying luggage upstairs for one lady. I recommend requesting an upgraded suite as the regular rooms are quite small and a little claustrophobic. The shower is a rain shower however the surface area is too small leading to a generally un-satisfying shower. Despite that it was a generally satisfying stay. The rooms are well decorated with lots of mirrors (possible to make it feel better but it hasn't worked) and other decor. Unfortunately I didn't get to experience the dining on offer however there was a generally happy vibe in the restaurant area on the ground floor.

Yelp
We enjoyed 2 nights mid week in the Kirketon for my partner's 50th birthday. We had an executive room which was fine for 2, I wouldn't have wanted a smaller room. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and remembered us each time which added to the boutique feel. No lift so we got a workout carrying our bags to the second floor. The bathroom was a bit tired and the shower was very dark but everything worked fine. However the location is great, an uber from circular quay was $10 and after that we walked everywhere. Heaps of bars and restaurants in the area and the cocktail bar in the hotel was fantastic with a large menu of very unusual cocktails and great service. Would definitely stay again for the convenience and ease.

Yelp
Overall I was very happy w/ the Kirketon. Great location and nice accommodations. As a boutique it was a bit on the small side, but amenities and furnishings were new and it was plenty of space for myself. Staff was great - happy to recommend.

Yelp
We stayed at the Kirkton for the last half of our trip to Australia. While the rooms were on the smaller side, it was by far one of my favorites hotels during our holiday. Great location, great staff and the boutique hotel was right up our alley.
