Even in the winter, Kirstenbosch is a worthwhile stop while visiting Cape Town. The gardens are extensive and well organized with well signed pathways for easy walking. The dry house is a very neat component where desert species are housed to limit their exposure to rain.
I thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
I suspect a lack of funding as is so often the case with institutions like this has resulted in the somewhat tattered appearance. Missing or illegible signs, weed species in the plantings, and litter do detract from the experience.
The park is still wonderful, but with more attention and maintenance (money), it would be glorious.
There are connections to the network of trails on Table Mountain, including Skeleton Gorge trail, which we were briefly on, but equipped for.
The park is accessible by the Blue route of the City Sightseeing bus.
I highly recommend a visit.
