After a long drive, we made our way up the peninsula via spectacular coastal roads to the hotel, which was very easy to find. Check in was super smooth and the guys out front helped us to the car park across the road.||The Hotel:|Sat in the middle of the fishing town, the large hotel sits right next to the harbour and out to sea. The lobby was very spacious and the hotel exudes warmth and comfort. Perfect for a cold day or during winter. It seems very large and spread out but after a while it’s very easy to navigate.||The Room:|We stayed in the Japanese style room with onsen and it was a very visually and super spacious. The room was divided into separate quarters; entrance hall and toilet, bathroom leading to Onsen and shower, closet then to the bedroom / lounge area. The futon beds were stored in the closet and were perfectly laid out by the hotel staff while we were out to dinner.||The room had everything we needed, was warm and cosy. The private onsen was perfect and didn’t take long to fill up. If you’re wanting a more private onsen experience, this was ideal. We both slept really well and the room was very comfortable.||The half board was great and the food was simply fantastic, on the first night, there was a lot of people so we needed to book our meal time. Breakfast was free seating and our second night was the same. The selection was amazing with Japanese and western fusion and free flow drinks. ||We both made use of the lounge both nights to enjoy the snacks and free drinks. ||Overall this was a delightful stay; perfect location to explore the national park, relax with great food and experience wonderful hospitality. This was one of the standout experiences during our trip to Hokkaido and I can fully recommend staying here.

The room has a lovely view overlooking the open sea and it is renovated with a modern touch. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel, as they only offered a buffet, and we’d already had plenty of those throughout Hokkaido. However, do keep in mind that there aren’t many dining options in this small town, so it’s best to plan ahead when deciding where to eat in Shiretoko. P.S The view of the public onsen and the sauna is one of the best we had in Japan.

We were not sure what to expect visiting Kitakobushi Shiretoko. What we found was a well established hotel with lots of amenities (gym, onsen, shop, lounge area, etc) overlooking the harbour. Our room was a decent size overlooking the harbour and we had a spring bath on the balcony which we enjoyed. An added unexpected benefit was the permanently complementary drinks and snacks throughout the day in the downstairs area.||The reduction in one star is due to the price point - this was on par with fabulous five star hotels we stayed at during our time in Japan, but those hotels were supremely better in terms of comfort, style and service. For example, the rooms and communal areas at Kitakobushi could do with an upgrade and the hotel is unable to help with bookings (which is challenging when the main way of booking for nearby boats / food / etc is by telephone). ||Overall, a good stay, but expensive for what it is.

As a first time foreign tourist in Hokkaido, I have just stayed here for two nights at this resort in Utoro, Shiretoko. Overall, this resort lives up to its billing as a "hotel and resort" with its many nice common facilities, spacious room and generous "tie-ins" - in the case of the last, its complimentary all-day grazing and drinking with beer on tap from 1pm-10pm at its Lounge, and complimentary one ice cream scoop per night stay with its "in house" dessert shop. And talking about "in house", I enjoyed browsing and shopping at its gift shop, and using its gym. As for the room that I stayed in, all was good except that it lacked a bedside table and the lighting was quite poor in certain parts of the room. That said, I did appreciate that my room did not come with a "standard" bathtub found in hotels in Japan; instead, it had a more functional and space-saving shower cubicle. I also appreciated (as someone in his mid-60s) that I did not have to step up or down into the room's toilet whenever I wanted to use it.

Very disappointed with the buffet standard as compared to my 2023 visit. The food selection is below average.TV stations all in JAPANESS, there is not consideration for international guest. Shampoo is near empty and no top up and look very uncalled for as a 5 star hotel. No housekeeping for guest staying for 2 days. Most of the staffs couldn't speak English and making communication very tough.Bell boy welcoming us are very friendly

We had a great stay at Shiretoko area- the hotel is very cozy and facilities such as gym, library, footbath and onsen make our stay pleasant even though the weather was a little wei. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a relaxing experience.

Great onsen hotel perfectly located to visit the National Park nearby. Breakfast and dinner “buffets” (you actually get restaurant looking plates at different stations, much better than a normal buffet) were excellent.

Poor service quality of the spa, ineffective and technician who are unprofessional. Overall this resort has a major disconnect between high cost and actual quality!

Yelp
Amazing luxurious hotel in Shiretoko! I will definitely be back here. This was one of the best hotels I've ever been to. It's difficult to get here without a car. There's only one bus per day that goes to this area. Also basically no taxis in the area. The beds were comfy and the rooms were incredibly spacious. The baths were very comfy and the view was incredible. Service was also excellent. The lounge with a pour your own bar and coffee and tea was really nice. The buffet was the best I've seen. Many options for traditional Japanese cuisine over western. And the views while eating were amazing. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Awesome location (right on the water with amazing views). Multiple types of hot springs. Food is pretty awesome as well. It's not cheap, but will worth the spend.
