Yelp
I have now been hipped to a NEW (to me anyway) breakfast sandwich spot. I am ALWAYS looking for a 'good' flavorful breakfast sammy. For some reason Bmore really isn't all that great in the breakfast sandwich department. Not many good offerings. So when I find one, I covet it. 'Kitsch' has happily been added to that list!
'Kitsch' happens to be in the exclusive, well heeled, tree lined enclave of Roland Park (or on its perimeter). TIP: If you don't know where you're going EXACTLY, you can blink and miss it. It's nestled and muted in the base of the Carlyle Apartments on University Parkway. This is directly across from the lacrosse fields @ Johns Hopkins U. Street parking is the option and it could be tricky, depending on when you go but it is soooo worth the trip.
Naturally, upon entering, 'Kitsch' is delightfully ohhh so kitschy! There are nostalgic, cute pieces all over. The plants help the space feel like ur actually in someone's home. There's even a blueprint of the Millennium Falcon on the wall (Sa-weeet!). I love everything about this spot.
Initially, I was greeted by Alex and he was very friendly. Then I met Jackie (owner). She was incredibly welcoming as well. So much that we geeked out a lil bit when she saw my Avengers tee and we started talking about 'Loki' (which I will be starting today from her recommendation. I was on the fence... but) & 'The Mandalorian'... LOVED THAT!
Now, on to the star of this review. My 'Sammy of choice':
1) Bacon, scrambled egg & pepper jack cheese on a golden brown brioche bun housing a pillowy soft interior slathered w/ a generous squirting of gochujang mayo. I added onions & cilantro for some 'punch'. This 'Sammy' was so good that I didn't just eat it, I actually INHALED it. When a breakfast sandwich is done 'right', it truly is a things of beauty... and THIS was one of those times. The flavors melded perfectly. You could actually taste every single thing on this sammy. Nothing overpowered anything. So fresh, so delicious... so right!!! TRIPLE WORD SCORE!!!
2) Pink Lemonade - so refreshing. Not too sweet. Not too tart. Juuuuuust right. SCORE!
3) Kitsch Bar - chocolate fudge filled w/ butterscotch & pretzels. I haven't had the pleasure to dive into this lil piece of Heaven yet but I mean, come on, did you READ the ingredients?!? This can't be ANYTHING but awesome, right?!?!? So I'll prematurely just say... SCORE!!
Customer Suggestion: Signage that pops / stands out. This lil gem is potentially missing a MASSIVE customer base due to the lack of signage. This is definitely a winner and I want them to do exceedingly well. Talent is hard to find and Jackie KNOWS how to prepare food.
Without question... 'I'll be back'!!!!
