As a Vancouver west local, I find the Kitsilano Farmers Market is a must-visit every week. I appreciate fresh, organic produce here. Their wide selection of organic vegetables is impressive. It’s a fantastic spot for health-conscious foodies and anyone looking to support local farmers. Highly recommend for a refreshing and delightful shopping experience

Google
Lovely and family friendly market!, the vibe is very chill, there is a lot of great options to choose from, produce, baked goods, food trucks, olives, food food, fresh local seafood, cashew, wine, coffee and more!!,

My favourite market in all of Vancouver. I love the atmosphere, real people, real farmers, real food, real community. Food is expensive now, but you can find really amazing produce for good prices here. Nothing goes to waste. I love the tips and ideas you can puck up from the farmers and the customers. Best garlic, herbs, root vegetables, everything! And then there is Stapleton sausages, amazing. Most of the same farmers will be at Riley park winter market, but Kitsilano is just special.

Love this farm market. Washroom facilities, and a water park and playground for the kids makes it a great outing to not just shop, but have a picnic while the kids enjoy the facilities. Good selection of produce. Food trucks on site, and some buskers. It offers a very wholesome atmosphere and experience.

We’ll organized farmers market operating on Sunday’s from 10am-2pm. Variety of fresh produce vendors and even some food trucks. Good mix of samples and products. There was even a few food trucks. Parking is limited but a few side streets to park and walk from. Easy to reach by public transit.

Google
Nice quant market. Really good veggie selection and baked goods. I find the best time is RIGHT when it opens or like two hours after. Anytime between that you have some ravenous folks that are on a mission to get stuff pushing by you etc and really takes away from the whole community farmers market vibe.

It was better in the summer, but when I went today (December 22), the options were very limited. Extremely overpriced products—I’m not sure if they’re worth it. Tiny bags of brussel sprouts were $6.

This is by far my favourite of the Vancouver Farmer's Market locations. There's alright street parking nearby, but it's also pretty close to transit. Stalls are well spaced and always a good variety of stuff! I get all my veggies for the week here, plus a couple treats 😉

Yelp
Kitsilano Farmers Market isn't just about the incredible produce and artisanal goods; it's an experience. The vendors' friendly service and passion for their products shine through, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect place to spend a sunny Saturday morning, exploring the stalls and soaking up the vibrant ambiance.

Yelp
Living in Kits now, it's always fun to stroll up to Kits Farmer's Market. The line up moves relatively fast (15 minutes or less) and they've sorted out the directions you can go. They have cheese vendors, produce, eggs, meat, coffee, mushroom vendors, garlic vendors, bread, everything you need for cooking a slammin' local meal! A little disappointing that there aren't many jewelry, soap, or art vendors as I always like looking at these as well. Perhaps its because the footprint of this market is a bit small. Today I loaded up on some fresh garlic, sausages from Stapleton (my fave!), and buffalo feta cheese. I enjoy that there's a rotation of local food vendors though, as I've seen different ones there which makes it exciting to check out every once in a while so you'll get to support other local vendors too!

Yelp
Kitsilano Farmers Market is located on 10th Ave and Larch Street. I didn't make to Nat Bailey on Saturday, therefore, I came to Kits to get my organic stuffs. It's a bit smaller than Riley Park one, but, the vendors are the similar even the same. As long as I get the organic produces and baked goods. I'm happy.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this medium-sized farmers' market, as there were enough stalls to provide all the foods I needed/wanted (i.e., lots of fresh and local produce, homemade breads and bakery items, fresh cheeses and some meats and fish, along with the obligatory organic juices and a few food and coffee trucks). The few folks I spoke to who worked at the stalls were incredibly nice and friendly and I even learned a few things about some new, funky veggies. Nice touch that there's a small group of musicians playing music, and lots of small bistro tables and chairs for folks to sit down. I was unfamiliar with this area so I paid for parking on Trafalgar, since there were no available spots on Larch, but I saw as I left that there was a lot of free street parking on 10th (free for 2 hours). This market is small enough that one can go through it all and see all vendors within half an hour. FYI: bring cash. Many of the vendors do not take debit cards.

Yelp
HOPPIN' spot on a Sunday! You can definitely tell that people from all over the city do drive to come to this market on Sundays. There are various food trucks also so you will see lots of ppl having a picnic on the grass field. It is definitely smaller than most markets but has everything you need from fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, artisanal foods like sausages and cheeses also. I like to come here on a Sunday to pick up some fruits and vegetables - usually just in and out though because it does get quite crowded when the weather is nice. There are usually some stalls from breweries and distilleries as well and I think it might be the only farm market in the area with alcohol tasting. Price point wise most produce is slightly higher due to the location, but the location is accessible and bike-friendly also so it is understandable. Come early to find more varieties because things will start selling out after noon. Don't forget to bring your own reusable bag :) another great thing about this market is that most vendors will take credit card also!

Yelp
Kitsilano Farmer's Market is in a parking lot at 10th and Larch... lined up with vendors on both sides, filled with fresh produce, delicious baked pies, and coffee and crepe stands. I would have never came here if it had not been for my 'Food Pervert' telling me about the Apple Pie baking contest.. and we all know I love apple pie! Without even thinking about it.. I decided to enter.. just to see if I can do it (and wanting to win of course). check out the results here :) http://thevols.tumblr.com/post/208600338/results-of-the-vancouver-farmers-markets-bc-apple-pie Since Fall is apple season, the place had 15 - 20 apples on display, along with a selection of squashes as well. They were also doing a 50 - 50 draw guessing how much a large squash weighed. I got a nibble of the squash and geta tart, made the the kids at a community college with was very delicious. There are also cheeses and seafood on sale - I was hoping to find the tuna grade sashimi but didn't have any luck. I cannot say anything bad about farmer's markets because I just think that they are super cool, and displays so many unique foods that you cannot find elsewhere. The prices are a little bit higher than a grocery store but you have to realize that it is local, organic, and just sooo good! Wait: ONE MORE THING: Mission to taste Vancouver's 101 Best Eats: Item: Ethical Bean Coffee (sold at the Jojo's coffee cart) Price: $2.00 (honour system - you just put the money in a tin for drip coffee) Cuisine: Tea & Coffee Deserving to be on the list: YES comments: I tried the medium Guatemala blend - at first taste by it self.. it tasted GROSS.. maybe it was because I got the bottom of the cannister... but once I got some more coffee and added soy (which was free on the counter)... the cup was just irresistible and I gulped it down in about 20 seconds :)

Yelp
First time here this weekend. It's a bit smaller than the Nat Bailey one, but still good. I actually think parking is not too bad relative to how busy the market itself is. I managed to find a spot a block away- it's a nice neighbourhood so the walk isn't too painful. As for the market itself, there were lots of yummy things to sample and buy. Despite it's size it has a good mix of vendors. You can find everything from fresh veggies to dairy free spreads, ciders, baked goods, wildflower honey, seafood, smoked meats, sausages, coffee, and ice cream sandwiches (I think I still missed a few things there). I found the prices for veggies on the high side, but everything else was as expected. A bunch of vendors do take cash only it seems, so that's another thing to keep in mind.

James L.

Yelp
It's got a great selection of local, organic and various craft products. Growing slowly over the years, some notable recurring vendors include the crepe van, Saltspring Island Cheese, Richmond Mushrooms, Wenger Sheep Farms, the vegan pate lady, and Earnest Ice Cream. When I want to get higher-end items, I end up going here more often than Granville Island. For large potential deals on farm-raised beef, chicken, duck, and lamb, you can't really go wrong here, because the farmers are always eager to talk and you can build up relations with some. A familiar face helps you to decide what cuts and if you are buying to stock up for winter, they will help you too with some incentive deals. Speaking of deals, as a member you can also end up seeing many special deals go up at the start of each month. Personally, I go here for specialized items, select meats, seafood, vegetables (heirloom tomatoes and eggplants in general), nuts, and fruit (particularly Rainier cherries in the mid-summer). Those items are already expensive but it's really untenable to try and shop here for all of your goods (e.g. $8/pound spinach), but it actually has very good select items (including some very rare shaggy mane, matsutake, and lobster mushrooms, as well as large fresh batches of chantrelles and morels when they are available). Shopping at a farmer's market in Vancouver is no deal when you compare it to any actual market (except maybe Urban Fare or Whole Foods), but for the quality it can't really be beat.

Crystal H.

Yelp
Heirloom tomato central! Passionately potatoe-y. Naturally nectarine-y. A love affairs with Bread Affair. I think I'm ready to commit - this IS my favourite farmer's market. I love Summer Sunday mornings (10-2). And the fact that you can get Market Dollars in case you forget cash. They come in denominations of $5 plus a $2 handling fee. Between the organic coffee brewing, La Boheme http://www.yelp.ca/biz/la-boheme-vancouver creperie and ALL. OF. THE. SELECTION. I am in market heaven. My only lament - it's not on every single day in the summer.

Stephen Y.

Yelp
Fresh organic/no- spray produce - Today: berries galore, heirloom toms (very very good), garlic, various greens. Crafty stuff, funky crepe truck and caffeine products truck (Try Willa Wonka blended coffee drink !) Also: organic/grass-fed local beef and tuna/salmon Very crowded at 1100 hr - lots of SUV- size prams... Street parking on 12th - but there's also a parking lot at the community center. However, couldn't get yesterday's G&M Op-Ed piece by Margaret Wente titled "Tastes good, but better for us ? No" out of my mind

Yoony P.

Yelp
Second time at this market and it seems to have improved a lot! There was an abundance of produce! The mushrooms looked amazing as did the heirloom tomatoes. The baked goods were slim pickings, but that's because everything was sold out--it was around noon when we went there. We did manage to snag a pastry filled with grilled veggies, goat cheese and herbs. YUM! We also bought raspberries, brussel sprouts (they were so small and cute!), mini kale and greens, tomatoes, ... The guitarist sang the cutest song incorporating every fruit and veggie sold in the markets. "brussel sprouts, brussel sprouts... doodoodedoo doo de doo doo doo..." Parking sucks, if I lived closer I would have walked.

Yelp
I baked my first-ever pie last week. I was looking at the market's website to see what was in season... and saw "rhubarb," followed closely by "strawberry." A sign -- a clarion call from the heavens! The time for a pie -- was now! After quickly consulting my "New Best Recipe" for proportions, I headed off to market. I left, grinning, with a kilo of fresh, ripe, organic, local strawberries and almost as much rhubarb. And some multigrain bread. And some heirloom tomatoes. And free-range eggs. And a delicious fig jam and ricotta crepe. (The crepe-makers won't be back until August -- I'm heartbroken!) You should probably have better impulse control than I do. Or not! My way is delicious. I worry that a little bit of the market's splendor is lost on me because I'm allergic to raw produce. Basically anything I buy here I have to cook pretty thoroughly before I can sink my chompers into it. But the pie was wonderful. As was the shaved asparagus pizza I'd made weeks before... and the spinach-tomato quiche... and the roasted peppers. Etc, etc. It's good stuff. I usually make the rounds when I arrive and start buying from the back forward -- vendors tend to have different things in stock. If things are slightly cheaper somewhere, that could either work to your advantage or be a bit of a red flag -- one week I ended up with a bunch of dirty, sad-looking spinach that took a lot of effort to pick through (happily I didn't need a whole bunch for my recipe). Hours are 10-2, but show up early, especially if you want berries and tomatoes from the tomato lady (which you do). Parking looks difficult (try the metered spaces on Broadway), but they have a bike valet and offer free bicycle delivery of anything you buy there. Plus there's entertainment and coffee! It's kind of the best. Bring cash, or be ready to buy "market money" with your debit card at the info booth.

Linzi M.

Yelp
What a great market! I made a pie! Lemon brownies! So much pleasure was gained from my visit to Kits Farmer's Market. There is a lovely selection of stalls selling fruits and veggies, baked goods and soaps'n'stuffs wares. They have a couple of food trucks too, but my eyes were set on the Pure Bread queue. AMAZING bakery goods. I got a lemon cheese brownie that was insane. Some beautiful flowers, raspberries and organic apricots and I left a happy bunny. It's handy that you can swipe your debit card for market money, but a bit of a gyp they charge $2 for you to do that. Surely, your business at the market is good enough?

Cathy S.

Yelp
It might not be the biggest farmer's market in town but the fact that there is nary a pan flute in sight (or sound) makes it 5 stars in my book! Organic produce - check. Meat and Seafood - check. Fresh breads and baked goods - check. Cheeses - check. Flowers - check. Art and jewellery - check. Good eats - check. Lots of dogs and humongous strollers - check. Four hours on a Sunday for five months a year isn't enough time, my love.

Brian S.

Yelp
Prices can Be Outrageous, Today one Vendor had Green Beans for $8 a pound, My Follow Customers can be down right aggressive while waiting to for their to select and paid for their $7 loafs of bread, That said Im glad to be able to find great quality produce from actual local farms at market prices. Today from our haul today we made mult-color bean salad and sliced Heirloom Tomatos with vegan pesto. People Watching can be fun at this market and they have great Bicycle Valet Service.

Christian H.

Yelp
Nice market? Yes... Good selections? Yes... Impressive? Hardly... I can't with a conscious mind say that the Kitsilano Farmer's Market is "As good as it gets." I have been to several Farmer's Markets that are way bigger with amazing selections and more room to move with a monstrous strollers and dogs everywhere. However, this market has a couple of things really pushing it up on the list of best Farmer's Markets, such as the great playground for the kids on one end and the food trucks with delightful tidbits. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the market, but I have seen better... And as always, Have Fun!!!

Matthew T.

Yelp
Cool little market. A nice selection of produce, meats, seafood, and specialty odds and ends. Not too big, not too small. Just right! I wish I lived near this so I could do most/all my shoping within walking distance. Just about everything you need for the weeks dinners. Prices were reasonable. Also a few food vendors. You should have seen the line for crepes! But the grilled cheese cart was cute!

Anna P.

Yelp
Fabulous Farmer's Market - puts my East Coast markets to SHAME. Everyone, including fruit vendors, had free samples to hand out. I tried three or four different kinds of plums. I didn't know there *were* three or four different kinds of plums. It does, indeed, get very crowded - but it's also a lively, entertaining place to be on a Sunday morning.

Yelp
Oh man there is some good eats to be found here! It's each Sunday from 10-2 through the summer and even into October I think. Don't go right before 2 because there might not be much left and some vendors are already starting to pack up shop. While I don't go each week, I'd say I go bi-weekly on average. Now some specifics ( I know that's what you're here for!)....along with all the fresh fruit and veggie vendors there are a few cooked food trucks/carts: I like the crepe truck. It has both sweet and savoury varieties. Try the maple if you want sweet or the chorizo if you want savoury. The handmade taco truck is yum! Hint: pulled pork w/ citrus slaw (add the habenero salsa for some kick!) The Roaming Dragon truck is kinda meh. It's kinda korean fusion and I like korean food but this one didn't do it for me. Maybe the food trucks should have their own review? Ok, back to the fresh stuff.....bought some glorious blackberries recently. Sooo good. Wanted to get some bread but that bread vendor seems to always have a crazy long line-up so that hasn't happened yet. Prices are a bit high considering it's kinda "direct" to you with no middle man etc. But I don't mind splurging for a few things here and there as the quality is high and it's local. Go check it out for sure. PS-oh there was a crazy big hornets next there on a recent visit to the market in a low tree on the market site. They did have a warning sign up but hopefully they've done something about that because wouldn't want to annoy those little buggers! PPS - I suggest walking or biking rather than trying to find parking for a car.

Korla M.

Yelp
A small, busy and charming farmers market, very reflective of Kits in a lot of ways. I might not count on this little market for an entire week of groceries, but it would certainly do well for a few nights dinner and some goodies. There is plenty variety and quality to go around, and it's a nice way to spend a Sunday-- it's adjacent to a sweet little park. I would recommend walking (or biking- they have a cute free, bike valet thing) and going EARLY! I got waylaid today, so by the time I got there at 1:20 or so the produce had been ransacked and the bakery stalls were nearly out. The vendors were getting a bit cranky, too. I did end up getting an excellent deal on flowers though. Also, a few vendors are now taking credit cards and they do a "market cash" thing through debit, however cash is really the best way to go.

J N.

Yelp
We feel bittersweet about our recent visit to the farmers' market. Some vendors were friendly and their fruits and vegetables seemed healthy. However, some seemed unfriendly and unappreciative of the business we were giving them. We spent about $60 during our half an hour visit. Our least favourite booth was the berries one. The guy seemed really blah. We spent $10 on the berries but had to throw away at least 1/3 of them. What a waste! The ones at the bottom had already gone mouldy and the ones that seemed ok went bad after just a few days. I wouldn't recommend this vendor. We really enjoyed shopping at some of the other booths though as they seemed genuine and the fruits and vegetables are still great after 4 days.

Sheryl D.

Yelp
I never seem to buy much in actual groceries when I go but I love their rotating food trucks. It's never boring and I go primarily for that. Love the French crepe place. Parking is easy. They could go bigger with more vendors but I'd definitely take Kits market over Trout Lake any day. They're a bit more exclusive and not as many people walking around with pets and strollers the three times I've been there, which makes for a more enjoyable experience.

J G.

Yelp
Like the Trout Lake Farmer's Market across town, the Kitsilano Market carries fresh, fresh produce that will leave you strangely obsessed with carrots and artichokes. This market takes place on Sundays, and it is best to get there earlier rather than later so that you can have your first pick of green beans and lettuce. Much of what is brought to this market is organic and you should have no problem filling your quota of fruit and veggies if you shop here. The prices are not inexpensive, but it is worth coming here for the freshness and to support your local growers. Delicious!
