A very cool place for the educational aspect as well as the amazing scenic views! I’m not really an astronomy enthusiast but it is definitely interesting and those telescopes are truly amazing! The drive up is beautiful though like any climb like that you get people who are in a hurry to go up or down in their cars and bully you off the road.

An amazing drive wrapping around what feels like an almost vertical butte! This is a unique experience, to be able to visit this many telescopes on a mesa.

We went during the day to check it out. They were very friendly and informative. We got to look at the sun through a telescope for free. We want to buy tickets to come back for the night time tour!

We did an evening viewing as a group of 9. Sadly we were then included in another group that was much too large for lining up to look one at a time through the telescope. (The clouds apparently were also a factor in this). I did get to see Saturn with a ring around it which was pretty cool. The main guy presenting info and pics was super knowledgeable. The sunset was incredible from the top of the mountain. The food included in our evening program was a turkey sandwich on a croissant - they should skip the food in the future.

Cool place. We went for the day and the self-guided tour. Only 1 telescope was open along with the visitor center. The views are great. Two FYIs. There is a Border Patrol checkpoint on RT 86 between Tucson and Kitt Peak so have your ID or passport with you. 2) the road up the mountain is steep but wide.

We attended one of their nightly viewing programs. Absolutely worth the money. Got dinner (box lunch is a better description) and could look at a super nova through the 10 inch telescope. I believe we also got to look through some of the other telescopes but it's been so long ago I can't remember. A must do if you're remotely interested in space.

We (my wife and I) booked the nightly tour. It starts late afternoon, after an introductory lecture, we got to watch the sunset from the top of the mountain. Later, after dark, there was star watching using binoculars, then a session with a small telescope. Our group was small, so we had a chance to observe a number of interesting star objects: nebulas, binary stars, etc.. Note: the observatory is on the top of a mountain at an elevation of 7000 ft., so it is really cold and usually very windy. Make sure you dress warm to go there.
