Kitty Hawk Kites

Our extended family did a sunset dolphin cruise with Allie. She was awesome…. Super knowledgeable and entertaining. Captain Johnny was also excellent. We saw DOZENS of dolphins. And a great sunset!

Loved this little tourist store across the street from Jockey Ridge State Park. We parked in their parking lot for free, then walked over the cross walk to explore the State Park. I purchased an OBX themed bottle opener and some über cute stickers. Glad we made the stop there.

What a great store! Though I didn't do kite flying, the store offered many pieces of merchandise from the area and of aviation. Also included cool airplane models in one room.

Extraordinary local store. If you want a kite to take across the street to the park, there is no other outlet for specialty kites in the area. You can buy simple kites elsewhere for a lot less (<$10), but kite flying in the OBX requires special kites for easy flying in the OBX winds. Expect to pay $50 and more for a kite you will be proud to fly.

If you're not in decent physical shape, this could be a struggle walking the sand dunes - just saying! We are 71yo and in really good shape, and it was testy to say the lease, but it was doable. Jude was really accommodating too to our needs, always keeping our safety first!! This is one of those things we'd do again in a heart beat - or in our case several heart beats.😀 NOTE: that day, the wind was low so governed the flight, but the scream of my wife verifies how much fun it is!!

It's been years since I was last at Kitty Hawk kites! Upstairs is where all the great toys and kites are. They have some different clothing styles you won't find in other stores. Still have the rock climbing wall. A must stop and shop when visiting the area!

This is a fun store full of unusual (and usual) toys and casual local-themed clothing. If your kids of any age are bored and you’re willing to spend some money, this place offers plenty of solutions.
