Great opportunity to see a variety of NZ’s native birds and other animals, the park was modern and well maintained, The shop and cafe option were fab too (inc. honey). Loved the opportunity to see kiwi birds in person and listen to educational talks about the birds/conservation. Had a fab time all around - recommend 🫶🏼

If you love to see KIWI bird, you have to visit here! Kiwi encounter was really awesome. You can see them pretty closely! It's not just a park that displays birds. It's a wonderful place to preserve and protect kiwis and NZ native animals. You can find out more about what the people who work here do on their official website. In that sense, the price is also very reasonable.

I had a fantastic time as a solo tourist visiting the park. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the self-guided audio tour was easy to access and to follow. I learnt so much about New Zealand wildlife, and it was a really special experience to get so close up to the animals, especially in the conservation show and the kiwi encounter. I would absolutely recommend it as a great day out!

Google
A great experience. Was my first time seeing a kiwi, and we went at a good time, they were active and got to see them close up. The overall park is very well set up and gives you other animals to see along the way. My 2 kids enjoyed the experience. Also nice to relax in the cafe and enjoy a drink after walking around.

The kiwi park was a wonderful experience to view different birds native to New Zealand and it was informative at the same time too. However, it was quite hard to see the kiwi birds as they were nocturnal and had to be viewed in the dark. Fortunately, we managed to catch a glimpse of them and understood more from the guide’s explanation. We also saw the kea birds and eagles but the morepork owl was not in the enclosure at the time we visited. The conservation show that we watched allowed us to see the Tuatara and learn more about kiwis. There was also a free honey tasting included and it was a good experience overall.

Google
The Kiwi Bird Park is set in a lovely location and is nicely laid out, making it an easy place to walk around…but finished in under 2hrs…It felt quite overpriced for what is offered, and more suited to a once-off visit rather than something you’d return to. It was quite disheartening to see some of the wildlife alone in their enclosures and appearing eager to escape, which took away from the experience…On a positive note, the gift store is well stocked and attractive, with most items reasonably priced. Overall, it was okay for a single visit, but not something we would rush back to.

Google
Great place to see a live Kiwi and a bunch of other native new Zealand wildlife. No pictures of the kiwi as that isn't possible due to their dark habitat. We did manage to see 4/6 kiwis that currently live in the park. The two shows were very informative and entertaining for all ages. I would recommend to plan for about 2 hours in the park if you want to see everything. Afterwards you can enjoy a free honey tasting in the cafe. No sales pitch or push which was very refreshing.

Google
Lovely park where you can see Kiwi in a dark setting as they are nocturnal animals that are sensitive to light. We did the Wildlife Show when we entered the park in which we learned about the animals that live in NZ, afterwards we got a short but informative session in the dark habitat where currently four Kiwi live ("Kiwi encounter"). Recommend you to check out the timing of the two different highlights so that you won't miss it. During the Kiwi Encounter, the guide informed us that the aim is to set out the Kiwi back in the wild so that the population will increase.

Yelp
We loved the kiwi encounter experience. The speaker seemed truly knowledgeable about the kiwis that live there and was able to provide visitors with interesting insights that go beyond things you can just google. We asked about their conservation and breeding programs and how they are actually involved in the entire process of helping these kiwis. We were able to ask questions and follow up questions since our kids are very curious and knowledgeable about animals. The guy at the front for conservation talk really sucked though. He gave a talk about various native animals that sounded very amateurish and ad hoc. We don't have a problem that he's not good at speaking but it felt like a waste of time gathering people on a stage and sucked like that while we sat in the wet and cold wintery wind of NZ weather. We were not impressed, what saved the show was they brought out some animals that we were able to see up close. There were also kids playing sport to our right and constructions going on in our left. The set up was very noisy. They could totally improve the set up. Didn't feel all that naturey. We also enjoyed seeing some native birds on the premise. The gift shop was nice and reasonably priced.

Yelp
The Kiwi bird park is an interesting spot to spend a couple of hours if you are at all interested in the bird life of New Zealand. It's located just at the base of the gondola ride so it makes sense to do them together. Entrance seemed a bit steep at NZ$49 per adult but if you time things right you can get a bit more value. Firstly your admission includes an easy to use audio guide so you can learn a lot about the birds. We also happened to arrive around 3:30 so in addition to seeing some busy Kiwi in the two Kiwi houses, we were just in time for the daily 4 pm conservation and bird show where they fly a number of indigenous birds around just over your head-it lasted about 35 minutes. The also have regular Kiwi feedings in the two Kiwi houses where you observe the birds in the darkness. The park itself is set in a nicely shaded grove with a lot of very tall trees including some giant redwoods and in the late afternoon it wasn't too crowded. Even though it was 80 in the shade it was quite pleasant. We enjoyed our visit and the fact that you can get quite close to a number of the birds and in some cases walk right into their enclosures. They don't have tons of birds but all the unique and threatened native New Zealand ones. It is a bit pricey but worth a look.

Yelp
Pretty pricey but I suppose it's going to a good cause. You can see two kiwis in a small enclosure, but I couldn't understand the Asian keeper at all. Her accent was a big problem. At the conservation encounter, there was no problem and that guide was quite informative. It ended on a hopeful note that we might be able to save these species.

Yelp
I spent 2 weeks wandering New Zealand, but until my arrival I had no idea that Kiwi birds were nocturnal and rare to find in the wild. Ignorantly I assumed they'd be everywhere. But this is park is the only place I got a chance to see these fascinating creatures up close, albeit in the dark. $55NZ per adult is rather expensive(save $5 online), but this is a non profit agency that gets zero government support. And it might be your only chance to see an adorable Kiwi Bird! They've also got all the other native species as well, including Owls, and the naughty Kea birds. Its worth staying for the informative 30 minute bird show and sticking around for the Kiwi bird feeding times. Its a relatively small park overall, but being bird fans we spent over 90 minutes there.

Yelp
We came here when it opened on a Friday morning at 9 am. Price is now $55 NZD at the park. Glad we came early when the birds are more active including the kiwis! We didn't see the kiwis in house #1, but we did in house #2!! Both the male and female came up to the glass and were foraging. The Kea birds are so entertaining! One jumped on my arm and walked up near my head! Be sure to watch the wildlife show, too. They also have honey tasting which is cool because I've never tasted different honeys back to back and there are unique differences in the flavors & textures. We tried a Manuka honey drink for $5 and it was refreshing. It's a tiny park that can be walked and done in under 3 hours, but you could stay longer and just enjoy everything even slower too. It is pricy, but I know it's going to a good cause. No rAgrets.

Yelp
We came here to see some kiwi birds. Since they're nocturnal, they are kept in dark rooms and are tricked into thinking that it's evening time so you can observe them while they are awake. Several times during the day you can stop by to watch one of their feedings. They also have a presentation where you get to meet some of their other birds. But, the main reason why we came was to see the kiwi birds. I really wish they let you know ahead of time that taking pictures is prohibited. Admission is NZ$49 per adult, which is quite high compared to the Auckland Zoo, where you are able to take photographs of kiwi birds. I know the admission fee is used to help a good cause, but in my opinion the visit was not worth the price.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed visiting this place. I thought there would be more to see, especially kiwis. I feel a bit bad giving it two stars, but that's how I really feel about it. I did learn that the entry fee does go towards helping for the safety of kiwis, the upkeep of the place, but for me, there just wasn't enough things. It was nice seeing the other birds, but I just expected to see more than 3 kiwis during my entire visit. If you have children though, it would be great for you to visit with them. If you have people in your party more on the elderly side, I would advise that the elderly don't quite walk within this area and there is gravel at some pathways and there are slight hills. Listen, I'm 27 and I was panting going up a hill. PANTING! Okay, either the hill was really steep or I'm really unhealthy. If you go up the hill just fine, please let me know that I'm unhealthy. If you're a big fan of birds, definitely stop by this place, but if you are not, I would skip this unless you are a tourist like me and are determined to see kiwi since it's a New Zealand bird.

Yelp
If you're headed up towards the Gondolas, you should leave early enough to check out the Kiwi Birdlife Park. I'm happy that we went, granted on a very rainy day. I got drenched, which meant we had to speed up our time at the park. All the birds are local to New Zealand and have stories about what they like to do listed on their placards. There are 2 kiwi houses. My suggestion is that you go during a feeding. Kiwis are extremely shy and hide. Don't hold your breath on seeing a kiwi, but perhaps if you're patient and sit down quietly and wait it out, a kiwi may just start moving around. One of my favorite exhibits was the Tuatara reptile. Fun fact, when born they have 3 eyes. But as they grow over, their skin covers it up.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed visiting the Kiwi Birdlife Park. Unlike Grace, we did our research and knew what to expect going in and were very pleased. First off, kiwi birds are nocturnal so getting to see them at all is a treat. We showed up in time for the 10am feeding and learned all about the Kiwis. Did you know kiwi feathers are more like fur and feel similar to a German Shepard? Well now you do! Also, female kiwi lay eggs that are up to a quarter of their body weight. We wandered around the park, which has one small hill, and looked at a bunch of cool birds. We really enjoyed the "Tui," and the "Weka." The place isn't very big and it's easy to see everything in a short time. At 11am we saw the animal conservation show/talk and were treated to a small show of birds and a possum! Overall a great way to spend the morning.

Yelp
Perhaps the key is that we had low expectations going in, but Andrew and I enjoyed our time in the park. What we enjoyed most about it, is prior to having been made a bird park, the site was a dump. Literally. Kudos to the family that built the park for having a vision for the area that includes not only birds, but some beautiful grounds too.Another aspect we enjoyed was the focus on conservation and restoration, and that most birds in the park were there because they had been injured and were taken in. There was an emphasis on saving endangered species and releasing animals back into the wild. The audio tour, while slightly corny, was easy to follow and explained things well without going into excessive detail, as audio tours sometimes do. Finally, the staff was very kind and invested in the park. As mentioned in previous reviews, the park is all about birds and there are 4 kiwis total. If you don't come expecting a full on zoo experience, you're likely to leave more satisfied. Entry is pretty spendy at $42 a person (though part of this goes right back to the park for the animals/grounds), so one might put this on their nice but not essential sites to see in Queenstown.
