Kiwis Nest

I couldn't speak more highly of this place. We had a lovely bright ground floor room, with tea & coffee making facilities, including a fridge, which was unexpected. There was a small kitchenette close by, and a full kitchen upstairs. Everything we could want. Our hostess was very friendly and welcoming. A home away from home. Don't expect perfection, but the prices are so budget friendly, you can overlook the odd bit of scuffed paintwork. Our ensuite bathroom was lovely and clean, quite modern. Very handy location, not far to walk restaurants and the busy metropolis.

A lot of reviews talk about the friendly and welcoming staff but that was not my experience. We were treated as second class citizens because we weren’t occupying their most expensive room and told at checkout that we had to “leave the premises immediately”. I’m not sure how a policy of pushing guests (who have conducted themselves according to the hotel rules and have been respectful) out the door constitutes welcoming behavior but it was extremely unpleasant. Otherwise, the premises are clean if not little (very) outdated.

We enjoyed our stay at Kiwis Nest. Great value, clean and nice little room at the bottom corner. We got a private access to get in and out of the room, didn't have to worry about being locked out. Host Liz was very friendly, she took us on a tour around the building. Great location too, very easy to find food.

Lovely! Warm and cozy, everything was clean, the host Liz was friendly and helpful. Our upstairs corner room had a beautiful view of the city. Will 100% be back. Very nice!

Spent one night here before flying out early the next day. The receptionist was super friendly, helping me to book my airport shuttle and making sure I had everything I needed. The bed was comfy with a cute view. Over all a really good hostel with that extra brought by the staff, would definitely come back!

This is an excellent place to stay. It is exceptionally clean, the staff is amazing, each and everyone one of them. They went beyond the call of duty and cared for each and everyone one of their guests which I witnessed. I being one of them. I was there for a long period of time and it felt like a home away from home. It is close to downtown Octagon, the university and a grocery store , as well as other amenities and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hostel. You will come away with likely at least one new friend, if it isn't a staff person.

Cozy and comfortable hostel not far from central Dunedin. I really enjoyed the upper veranda kitchen and dining area setup. There's even a lovely balcony overlooking Union Street where you can enjoy a coffee and a good book. Quiet, accommodating, and clean. Competitively priced for a backpackers.

Nice, simple and clean Hostel in a central location. Shared showers and toilets are separated, clean and in good shape. The rooms can get very cold at night (but you have a mobile heater for that). Shared kitchen is very well equiped and absolutly clean. The two owners are nice and helpful and there is parking space for three cars.
