"The historic Kiya shop specializing in cutlery has been in the Nihonbashi district since 1792. Come here for Japanese knives and traditional Japanese kitchenware, including donabe for cooking rice and hot pots, copper graters, and mortar and pestles. There are wooden boxes for making pressed sushi and wooden cutting boards that are gentle on the Japanese knives. Staff are friendly and helpful, guiding customers to the right knife or utensil. Beyond cutlery, Kiya also has other cutting tools that are worth checking out, including nail clippers, shaving gear, pruning shears, and scissors."

Excellent little shop with a great variety of goods. Bought two knives here and was delighted by the exceptional service given to us. The gentleman spoke English very well and was very informative. He let me handle the knives first and didn't rush me into making a decision. Not only that, he showed me cheaper knives so I was able to make a decision based on the quality that I could actually feel.
Will definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Japan to buy more kitchen goods.
Well done guys and thank you very much.

A great knife shop located in the bustling shopping district around Mitsukoshi-mae Station. You can find all different kinds of cooking knives here, in addition to some woodworking tools and shaving razors.
I purchased two Damascus-steel knives from them 7 years ago, and both have held up beautifully.
Besides their goods, they also offer a knife sharpening service.
Although not cheap, if you buy a knife from here you're investing in a tool that you could be using for decades.
