Kiyota Sushi

Steer clear of this place if you are a foreigner because the itamae has no shame. I was there for lunch omakase with only two others - a Japanese couple. As the meal progressed it became clear that the worst fish and rolls were being selected for me. Worse, certain fish were not served to me at all - I did not receive the prized akagai, and was given kohada twice while the other diners recieved aji. He saw I knew what was going on, and he didn’t care - after all he had ignored me for the entire service. Decent if forgettable sushi; unforgivable attitude.

My dining experience certainly did not live up to the hype of this restaurant. If you are willing to pay premium for good sushi, think twice before choosing this place. [What’s Good] The food quality and cooking technique were great: I was very impressed by the tuna pieces and especially the unagi one. [What’s Meh…] It doesn’t justify a $450 meal, echoing some other reviews. The entire set featured limited variety of appetizers and fish, making the dining experience somewhat repetitive and tiring towards the end. They also offered 3 maki and made pieces where the sashimi can barely cover the shari, which I’ve never experienced in any high-end sushi restaurant 🤔

Very fresh food, high quality sushi places in Ginza area. The chef has an interesting character as you can tell from the way he made the food and the interaction he had with customers. I really like the staff members there especially an old lady who is so friendly and polite. Can’t help giving her a hug when I was leaving the restaurant after the meal. I would recommend giving it a try, though must be honest that this is probably not the best time Omakase that I had in Tokyo at this price range, still pretty good!! :)

Insanely overpriced omakase. Please do not come here. I've had multiple omakases at other places for a similar price (e.g., shinji, hashida, maasaki) and they were heads and shoulders better in terms of number of courses and quality of ingredients. They chef here is a disgrace and obviously knows that he is ripping pple off. For a ¥400,000 - 500,000 meal he will dare to serve you uni maki (not even a in gunkan) shamelessly. Just check out the quality in the photos below. Please do not under any circumstances ever come here.

Nothing to write home about this one , completely unorganized randomness , clumsy bits of sushi , yet despite everything I’ve read , the chef and his team were wonderful , and I could argue that the Anago was amongst the best I’ve had , other than that , a giant pass would be in order

Everything I’d hoped for and more for an intimate, high-quality sushi experience at a place with an intriguing history. Could not be happier.
