Kjøbmandsgaarden Hotel

First of all, the hotel is very nice, good location, the lady from the breakfast works hard to make guests have a good breakfast. The hotel is authentic from 1836. So that wooden doors don't close without some extra effort, no elevators so you have to carry your bags on the stairs, well that has something almost romantic for such an old place. What the big problem was in our room nr.11: The toilet was not flushing. There was a sign in the bathroom, that it could take up 5 to 10 minutes before you can flush. Not very pleasant if someone already went to the bathroom before you. It was very uncomfortable. Besides that, after every flush, there was a loud noise, like an old kettle, whizzling harder and harder for at least 5 minutes. We thought we triggered some kind of alarm. This was also uncomfortable, because if you need to go at night, you wake up everyone in your room. This can't be something the staff didn't know. They put us in that room, but didn't say anything. We didn't complaint as well, complaining about something they already know is not really useful, and we only stayed for one night. Luckily. So staff, be honest to your clients and fix those bathroom issues and get the, at least, 4 stars this wonderful authentic place definitely deserves.

It was a simple business trip that turned into an unforgettable one. Nice and calm atmosphere, nice staff and just perfect food. I have never tasted sushi like here. And also took 4 boxes of chocolate truffles that they make, it was also a taste ecstasy. Friends, you are incredible!

Girls that work here are lovely and helpful. The location is great and parking was nearby and free over the weekend. The breakfast was excellent. However there was no jug in the room and the coffee machine wasn't available until the breakfast area was opened up at 7.30. We didn't get much sleep as a washing machine whirled and banged loudly until midnight.

upon arrival the room was cold, the pipes were making noise, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the curtain rod was falling off the wall, the breakfast was a disaster for a hotel. cramped bathroom. toilet like on a ferry/plane

Arrived on Good Friday and ordered the daily special and got the best Easter lamb dish we ever experienced. Nice atmosphere, great service. Not too crowded in Easter time, but will for sure come back for another visit when we pass by during summer.

The fish soup🐟🥣 was just yummy. Best ever what I eat in my whole life...me wich i m not such a fun of fish but this soup was amazing I defined recommend! 🥰

Mandal is a small town in Southern Norway. Kjøbmannsgården hotel is an old-fashioned hotel. Clean rooms. Washroom is good but the shower didn't seemed cleared for a while. Water was not draining well. Many old wall hangings and a piano in the hotel bar. ||||Hotel has a breakfast cook. He makes excellent breakfast which lasts long until dinner! However Mandal does not have a culture of serving vegetarian food alternatives. Even if you book a day prior, they don't want to make vegetarian food though we stayed three nights in this hotel. I was quite amazed by this behaviour. Mandal's restaurants does not serve vegetarian food eccept "Smoi" which had vegetarian pizza. We drove to Kristiansand to have a good dinner on last day.||||However, we had walking distance to Buen cultural house from the hotel. Concerts were held at the cultural center for two days which entertained us really!||||I would NOT recommend this hotel for vegetarians. Better stay in Stavanger or Kristiansand if you are a vegetarian.

The atmosphere is great, the food is good, but the fact that the reception area is at the bar (which makes it quite crowded in the small area), the extra chairs for our group of people were old with stains on them, and the tables had some small stains here and there.. All in all I think the place could need some smaller adjustments, but otherwise it's a great place to relax and maybe even rent a room (although I have never rented one as I live only a few minutes away).
