We booked a room at this place as it was literally the last one left in the region and the price seemed ok. Our room was small but had fresh paint and looked decent. The beds were comfortable enough. Only the smell of the shower’s drain was terrible. About the breakfast everything has been said in the previous reviews. They seem to have a vegan concept even though they give you actual butter. The lack of milk for the coffee was my major complaint. Also, they should actively tell the guests that there are toasters available for the bread. All in all very basic but if you get a good rate and a decent roomy it’s an ok place to spend a night

Basic rooms but clean, warm and a good size. It seemed to be an old farm which was nice, we where in the barn block and each room had a horse 🐴 shoe on the door which was a nice touch. There was a very pretty waterfall just next to the restaurant in site with a walk upto.the lake above. We didn't do the walk as it was raining but it looked a good walk with some interesting info including disappearing nuns and the first hydro electric station now painted gold to commemorate its importance. The breakfast was very basic and to be honest best avoided.

Rooms were clean and fairly quite. Bathroom was a little dingy. Didn't get to go to breakfast due to the limited time frame and having an early morning tour. Early checkout instructions were vague. Staff was nice, but process was a little confusing. Plenty of parking though it was a little tight for the larger car we had.

We booked a triple room with private bathroom and ended up getting one which also had a kitchen with dining table which was very handy. The path to the room was a little slippery in the rain but there were footholds on the sloped part and the room was both warm and dry. We ate at the restaurant because we couldn't face going out again and the food was both good and well priced. The staff were really friendly and advised us on what time to book around a larger booking that they had later.|Breakfast is simple as has been noted in other reviews, but you still get a good amount for your money. I think there's probably a better way to do it with less wastage - we all had bread on our plates but not everyone wanted it so it went to waste.|In all it was a perfectly nice hotel for one night while we travelled on the ring road. It's not a 4 star hotel but it doesn't pretend to be either.

It seems we got a decent room in comparison to other reviews, but it was still small, and had an ugly smell when we entered, the bathroom smelled even worse, the odor came from the shower drainage. The shower was a cabin, so a reduced amount of water came out, also no shower gel. The breakfast is bad, you can find pictures. Vegan cheese, no milk, no eggs. The concept is not congruent, they generate a lot of garbage and give you highly processed food, they could put one boiler and eggs to the side, and let people prepare eggs and have milk. We couldn’t find anything else in the area, but if you can, drive one hour more and for the same price you get much better rooms and breakfast.

Clean, functional and pretty rooms (though the walls are thin) in a beautiful location, but it's a motel and not a guesthouse. There's no common room where you can chill or play cards, and that's a bummer. The worst thing is probably the breakfast which is absolutely abysmal, avoid at all cost. It's an odd assortment of a few cucumber slices, one slice and a half of vegan cheese, two slices of bread, and the worst oatmeal I had the opportunity to taste of even smell. I really hope they improve it, they have the space to put a buffet with few fresh products (skyr or even some local cheese?). This seems cheap. The personal was kind and helpful.

I stayed here for one night. Frankly, after reading some of the reviews online, I was a little apprehensive, but other accommodations available nearby were MUCH more expensive and did not necessarily get stellar reviews themselves. Hence, I decided to give Klausturhof a try. All in all, I’d say it met my expectations. I booked a single room with private bath. The room was small – as I expected – but it was clean, the lighting was good, and did not really feel claustrophobic. In addition to the single bed, there was a desk, a small unit with a few shelves and a teapot. There were hooks on the wall to hang clothes, but no wardrobe. The bathroom was small. A bottle of hand soap was provided, but no shampoo. The walls were not very soundproof – I could hear a conversation next door, including the voice on the speakerphone – but by bedtime it was quiet. There was no in-room TV (none was advertised). There were no blackout drapes when I visited (which wasn’t a problem in September but could be a problem in mid-summer). Parking right outside my door was convenient. The rate included breakfast which was prepared on a plate by the staff and handed to you in the dining room (see photo). I wasn’t expecting too much but it was enough to keep me going for a few hours. One big omission – no dairy products. The only milk available was oat milk. A cup of skyr or yogurt would have been a nice addition. I loved the location – overlooking the Skaftá river and in one of the few wooded areas on Iceland’s south coast. The Systrafoss waterfall and an excellent restaurant (Kjarr, not affiliated with Klausturhof) were just steps away.

Terrible place - don´t go there. It may look nice on the webpage but that is not what it is. The cheap rooms with the prison cell type of bathroom is one thing but the breakfast is a joke (understatement), you get a plate with a miserable sort of apple, a couple of bread slices and one small butter piece and one and a half slice of cheese - yes; one and a half!!! They meke the effort of cutting the cheese in two - so you get one and a half slice!!! And when you ask for more butter and/or cheese the answer is no!!!! How cheap can you get?|Well, you have so many options of accommodation in this area - don´t go to this sorry place.
