On the Grid : Kleinsky's

"Inspired by the traditional delis of New York, Kleinsky’s is all about serving new-age Jewish-style food. Customers roll in and place their order at the counter before taking a seat at one of the few tables inside the restaurant. If it’s busy – and it gets pretty busy – coffee can be enjoyed on benches outside (perfect for people watching). It’s not actually kosher, but the restaurant has breathed new life into an age-old culinary tradition, with a host of different established recipes given a modern twist. You MUST try their lamb-bacon! The photographs on display are all taken at the Sea Point Pool. They’re amazing and all for sale." - Brand New Creative

Lived up to the hype! Bagels were delicious, waiters were courteous and efficient, and the atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday brunch. The Leo bagel was soo gooood and my friends really enjoyed the Hello Pesto. Get there early to avoid waiting in ques as this place is in high demand especially during the holiday season.

You can never go wrong with Kleinsky’s. The Food, service and ambiance is always wonderful and welcoming. Thank you Mandla for serving us today. The Ruben sandwich, always a winner and the Honey cake, yummy but the Hummus with the toasted bagel chips is out of this world, it’s a must try 👌

Cute and Cozy vibe, my husband and I went for breakfast, food was amazing !! The decor and music combined with the laughter and chatter of people makes the place feel homey, like a real deli / little cafe. This place must be famous because it was and always is packed.

Absolutely amazing place for brunch! We had pancakes and a bagel, and both were delicious. Everything on the menu looked tempting - I truly wished we had more days in Cape Town so we could come here for breakfast every day. Highly recommend!

Just amazing! We love the bagels — especially as a vegan, it’s so nice to have such great gluten-free options. I usually go for the gluten-free bagel with smashed avocado and a bit of feta — the seasoning with seeds is just perfect. Honestly, one of the best breakfasts you can have if you’re vegan and looking for something gluten-free. If you love juices, you’ll definitely enjoy the carrot or green juice — both are super fresh and tasty. And the little note on the wall saying “Remember to call your mom” is such a sweet touch. We just loved it here!

Kleinsky’s Delicatessen in Sea Point is a great catch-up spot, perfect for family meet-ups or gathering with friends. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy time together. The menu is impressively detailed, with a wide range of options to suit all tastes, and the food is consistently delicious. A lovely bonus is that you can also buy bagels to take home or freeze, which means you can enjoy a little piece of Kleinsky’s later on. Whether it’s for a hearty brunch, a casual coffee, or simply stocking up on bagels, Kleinsky’s remains a go-to choice in Sea Point.

If you’re craving real New York bagels, Kleinsky’s is the place. My husband grew up on NYC bagels, and he swears these are the best he’s had outside of New York. They’ve nailed that perfect balance—chewy inside, crisp outside, and full of flavor. Add in the authentic deli vibe, great toppings, and friendly service, and it honestly feels like a little slice of NYC right here in Cape Town!!!

A bright, spacious, colorful delicatessen located in the Sea Point neighborhood of Cape Town. The schnitzel bagel sandwich was recommended and while it was slightly dry, it did not disappoint. After reading a review declaring the Latke Salmon Benedict as being perfect we had to give it a try; it was yummy, though it could have used some hot sauce. The Americano was strong; the red cappuccino was floral and milky; and the peanut butter cup smoothie was absolutely divine. All in all, a very pleasant breakfast experience.
