Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate

Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate is situated at the entrance to the town of Riebeek-Kasteel and it's easy to find. The farm is designed to be entertainment for the whole family and you will find inside and outside seating, place for kids to play, a manicured garden, walking paths and a relaxed environment. Service is sharp and friendly and Claire is happy to answer any questions. The farm offers their signature wine and olive pairings for about R150 ($9) in an informal process that guides you through the flavours. But that's only part of the story: The food is excellent as well and good value for money. A generous burger sells for R170 ($10) and it's doubtful you will be able to finish as fast as a fast food serving. The estate is well-known for its excellent wines and premium olive oil. The farm belongs to the family of Springbok rugby player and world rugby player of the year 2019 and 2024 Pieter-Steph du Toit and it's wonderful to see his jersey up in the entrance foyer. The bathrooms are neat and clean and if you have the time and inclination, you can also book an overnight stay in the units on the estate. It's a great place to take a break and well worth a visit.

It was a relief to sit in the beautifully cool tasting room on a boiling hot Swartland day. I haven’t been here in about15 years and the quality of the wine has increased tremendously Staff were friendly and the wines were all poured at the table with tags on the glasses. Not much interaction or information from my server but I really enjoyed the wines

We had a great time at Kloovenburg. Excellent wine tasting, with a great Farmers Platter with plenty of meat, cheese and fruit for the four of us! We also enjoyed their pizza in the garden! We stayed at the guesthouse which was amazing. It’s a five-minutes car drive from the winery. The rooms were amazing and the host Ms Wenen was wonderful. We really enjoyed their entire stay!

We enjoyed a wine and olive pairing and a standard wine tasting. Both were amazing. Friendly staff. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor seating area, great pizzas.

Beautiful wine farm. Wine tasting was R200 for a white blend, red blend, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The Mourvèdre was lovely flavours of red berries. Great service. Also great location to buy different kinds of olive oil and olive oil based creams and body washes. Olive tasting is R50.

Great family spot. Kringe inni boss, has great food, good portions, caters for kids with awesome play area. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there today!

My rating is particular to the wines. Having done a complete range tasting on two separate occasions, I found the experience rather disappointing overall. There are a few bright lights amongst the four ranges, but there is very little to talk about across the premium ranges in particular. I've noted an increasing leverage of the family star, the peerless Springbok Pieter-Steph du Toit, but the wines aren't anywhere near the class of the player.
