Kloster Hornbach (Hornbach, Rheinland-Pfalz) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Monasteries aren’t the only ancient lodgings that are well suited for conversion into luxury hotels, but in a way, a Benedictine monastery, such as Kloster Hornbach, in the Rhineland-Palatinate, might be the most appropriate of all. The Benedictine tradition is all about hospitality, and we’re not being entirely flippant when we say the Benedictine monasteries practically invented what we now think of as extraordinary hotel service. Let everyone that comes be received as Christ, says the Rule, which today’s secular hoteliers might take to mean rolling out the red carpet for each and every guest; and the injunction to avoid lingering with guests might be the what we mean when we say that a good hotel staff is a model of discretion." - Tablet Hotels

We have purchased the voucher for a gastronomic stay including 1-night stay, the spa visit, the dinner with the suitable wine selection, and breakfast with total cost 500EUR . We were very disappointed by the fact that the personnel proposed some extra services without explicitly stating these services were extra. So that, some extras have been ordered without knowing these are extras (e.g. an aperitif with sparkling wine was suggested, we accepted it, cause the dinner was including the wines, but the wine for aperitif was not included, which was not obvious and the waiter didn't draw attention to this. Next to it, a bottle of sparkling water was suggested, not a big deal, but when you buy a dinner on the level of 300EUR, your expectations are anything but paying some extras (like water etc.) I have claimed my disappointment of not being informed about these extras, which have been all of these suggested by our waiter, to the hotel manager. The conversation was the most unpleasant of this kind I have ever had before: total disrespect and several attempts for manipulation, such as I had to read properly the conditions of the contract, and even allegations that I am too greedy, because I drive a luxury car which the manager obviously checked, and therefore I shouldn't make any point about 35EUR extra costs. I pointed out that what I object, is the way these costs were inflicted, that the were meant to be hidden (given the voucher for a luxury gastronomic dinner with variety of the drinks, such as wine). Luckily this is not the case with all the German hotels, which we always licked for the high service standards, transparent prices and hospitality. Finally I was accused by the manager of spoiling the evening for my wife, which was both ridiculous and insulting. |The dinner experience was fair, however the claimed "haute cuisine" experience was pretty overstated. It was a good dinner, but without anything extraordinary. The hotel claims itself having the Michelin 2024 award, but most dishes were "just a salad", "just a main course", with some exceptions, wines were okay though. Maybe we eat too good at home, so that we were not impressed. The hotel is located in the center of the village with the road going next to it, so noisy enough if you want to keep windows open. |The spa is okay, of small size though.|The breakfast was okay for 4-stars hotel, without much variety though.|Overall my impression was poor, given the encounter with the management.

We loved our two night but 'far-too-short' stay at Hotel Kloster Hornbach. We were on our way between France and heading to Frankfurt for our flight so Hornbach is ideally situated. What a beautiful area around Hornbach to explore, located on the footsteps of the Rhein wine region and local golf courses. The hotel is a wonderfully restored Kloster which opens up into a very stylish and comfortable design hotel with extraordinary attention to design detail. We liked the spacious meticulously clean rooms which were a nice change after travelling in Europe where the rooms are usually small. But what capped it off for us was the very friendly and welcoming staff and hosts at the hotel as well as the excellent cuisine, from breakfast through to dinner. We enjoyed chatting to the knowledgeable sommelier who helped us with our local wine choices and knowledge. We had a 5-star experience.

We spent a wonderful week-end at Loesch für Freunde with the extended family (16 persons, 10 rooms), and it’s been a fantastic time for all of us. The rooms are of course outstanding and designed with great taste. The service was thoughtful and perfectly caring, all family members felt at home thanks to very nice persons who did everything they could to make our stay comfortable, warm and joyful. Last but not least, the food too was excellent, and enjoying our meals all together at the long table was a pure delight. I came to this place several times in a professional context and dreamt of sharing the experience with my dear family. The magic has operated once again!

Great hotel and restaurants. We celebrated our wedding here some years ago and tend to go back on the anniversary. We simply enjoy the great atmosphere and a small time out.

Excellent travel stop in Germany about an hour off the highway in the lovely countryside. The old cloister turned into boutique hotel with spa and restaurant, perfect for weddings yet cosy and welcoming. Team/staff very attentive and caring for all details. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Everything thing is extremely well thought out. Decor, service, staff and all the little extras. Our dog had a great bed (as was ours) bowls and biscuits at bedtime! Breakfast had a good selection , with tea, coffee and juices available in the lobby all day.

On my trip through Luxembourg and Rhineland Palatinate, a region in Germany. I stayed in Kloster Hornbach and I felt very welcome right away when I checked in. A really nice employee told me about the spa that I was allowed to use and she reserved a table for me in the restaurant. In my room, I found a personal note and sweet homebaked treat. In the Abby tavern, I did have an outstanding veal entrecote and a delicious glass of German pinot noir. I The spa was kept open for me on request a bit longer than normal and I treated myself to a relaxing sauna session. I enjoyed the medium soft bed and liked the scenery of the monastery. I would recommend this really special, hospitable and beautiful hotel to everyone.
