Knapp Winery

The winery itself is fantastic, the staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and make the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Wait times for both food and service were long, and the quality of the dishes was inconsistent. The aesthetics are an easy win, the layout and presentation are inviting, but the food simply doesn’t measure up. For instance, I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked, only for it to arrive completely different than requested. If the kitchen can’t deliver on that option, I’d rather they not ask. I’m usually pretty easygoing, but for the venue and the price point, I expected more. The fries were another letdown: half undercooked and soggy, half overcooked with a dense, raw center. The drinks were good, but when the food quality is so uneven, the bill felt almost insulting. To make matters worse, we had to physically track down staff just to settle the check, waiting about 45 minutes with no service. That happened more than once, both to request the check and then again to have the card processed. All of this was especially disappointing because it followed an excellent wine tasting experience. Even after a couple of cocktails and a bit of a wine buzz, the food and service issues were too glaring to overlook. From a quality standpoint, the restaurant simply didn’t deliver, and that’s what ultimately pushed me to leave this review.

Our favorite winery in the area! Jordan was the best! She made the wine tasting even more fun with her great personality and wine knowledge. Fabulous wines and reasonably priced.

The staff at Knapp Winery was exceptionally helpful. We were shopping for gifts to give to family and friends. Their staff show great patience and kindness in answering each of our questions. It was truly a remarkable customer experience. They also have a beautiful flower garden between the tasting room and the bistro. Thanks so much for everything!

We came for the anniversary celebration. The rainstorms did not stop the live music; vendors moved onto the covered porch. Our party of 10 had a late lunch in the restaurant. The Knapp burger was delicious. Bought bottles of my new favorite red blend, Profondo Rosso. The landscaping and flowers on the grounds are gorgeous.

Knapp’s became a fast favorite among our group. Our visit was awesome. Our server for the tasting was so nice and knowledgeable, she was able to give us in-depth descriptions of each wine we were tasting. Definitely the best experience we had on our trip in terms of learning about the wines themselves. They served yummy local cheese and crackers to snack on in between tasting!

We hosted a Rehersal dinner here and cannot rave about this place enough. Through the planning process Shari and the rest of the team were so accommodating and kind. I can’t recommend them enough. The food and drinks were FANTASTIC- shout out to chef Hayleigh for making our menu dreams come true. The pastry chef is also extremely talented and created delicious desserts for our group. Shari truly created an experience for us- from the set up, to the flowers, you can tell she truly cares about the experience delivered. We can’t wait to visit again in the future!

I love Knapp! Such a wide selection of wine. Definitely try the ice wine, it’s out of this world! They gave us delicious local cheese and crackers and our DD some complementary local grape juice. After our flight they let us try a few more that we were curious about. One of my favorite stops on Cayuga!

A rating of 5 does not do this place justice. Gorgeous, 1st class interior venues. Tables are set with glasses, napkins and wine lists - so inviting! Tastings come with a bread, cheese and dip snack tray. Sheri, our server, was absolutely wonderful!! Very personable and knowledgeable about the wines. We were privileged to talk to Vanessa, the wine maker there. She had a great story of her life path. Bought several bottles to enjoy later. Also a restaurant there to enjoy!

A good winery with reasonable prices. A flight of 6 choices were $12. The nice thing is they gave you cheese and crackers to munch in between sips. Honestly I liked all my choices except for one and that just may be personal taste. Our server was ready every time our glass was emptied to pour another choice. The physical space wasn't too exciting but there was live music on a Saturday afternoon.

Pretty cool spot on Cayuga Lake. Just changed ownership in December. We went with a large group for a tasting and a little behind the scenes tour. It was fun learning about the different grapes that are growing and styles of wine they make. They run a special - hand cut fries with three different toppings for five dollars... They were delicious! They have just hired a new young winemaker who has some great ideas for moving the winery forward. They will be renovating the restaurant. Plans to maybe build another tasting room as well as some other interesting plans. They offer a case club if you buy a case of anything bottled - including their distilled spirits. they make a great lavender gin, vodka, Brandy limoncello and limecello... Buy a case and you get a 10% discount as well as free tastings anytime you go down. 20% off any additional case purchases. A fun outing even in the winter!

There are a lot of great things about this winery. First, and most obvious are the wines; they are all great , both the reds and whites. We obviously haven't tried them all, but all the ones we've tried we really like. Their restaurant is excellent and never seems to disappoint. About two years ago they got new owners and they've made some nice improvements, including the wine club. Our favorite winery to visit.

Literally my favorite winery ever! Came here 2 years ago and loved it, had to come back this year....and it never disappoints. -The atmosphere is super cute- string lights, barrels all over the place, live music from 1-4pm! The ambience is perfect. -They offer cheese, popcorn, and some salsa/sauce to munch on while doing your tasting which I loved and needed. You get a paper and pencil to mark your favorites to purchase later, you're seated at a private table with a server who gives you a description of each wine before each pour...which makes the experience all the more relaxed, personalized, and fun. -They have a wide variety of wines, beers, and even distilled products. I tried the Lavender Gin but it was way stronger than what I expected. Some of my favorite wines: --Cabernet Sauvignon --Reisling --Cayuga White --Pasta Red --Loganberry -The gift shop area is the best I've seen in any of the other local shops; you got coasters, chapsticks, logo apparel and whatever you need. -And they have a restaurant next time in case your hungry or need to balance out all the alcohol! -The tasting is $12 which is expensive compared to other wineries in the area but worth it to me since they have so many good wines to select from, they give you snacks, and the vibe ties it all together. Recommend? highly Return? Absolutely, we come back every 2 years during the month of September so see you on 09/2024!

It was okay, we mainly came in for a tasting. The waiter was sweet but the ambiance wasn't there. I feel like it just could have been a better set up. They gave cheese and bread for the table which was nice. I did enjoy the limoncello and we got a bottle to bring home.

Stop #2 on our Crush Wine Tour. We found the best service here out of all of the wineries. The tap room is much smaller in comparison to many of the other wineries. It's still great though. We loved how quaint and rustic this winery was. The ceiling and wine barrels are adorned in hanging string lights that really make the room pop. The staff is super sweet and they really made our group feel comfortable. They weren't stingy on the pouring either, which is always a plus. I didn't love the wine here, but the ambiance and service certainly made up for it. You can also try some spirits like lavender gin and limoncello. If you are on a wine tour in the area and plan to get lunch you might want to consider doing it here. The restaurant next door has an absolutely gorgeous outdoor space. You are basically eating in the vineyards. We really enjoyed the food too. I had a buffalo chicken wrap which came stuffed with lots of chicken, fresh veggies and cheese. Outdoor dining, wonderful service and quaint rustic vibes are all great reasons to make Knapp a stop on your wine tour.

I think we have a new favorite restaurant here! Cole and Karen Wilson have done an outstanding job of revitalizing Knapp Winery. Chef Drew is a master and his creations are equal to, if not better than, my other favorite restaurants. Norwegian Salmon, Shrimp and Lobster Carbonara and Duck paired with Brut, Riesling and Limoncello. And great dessert too! #pairing You must visit!!!!

Seated tastings with bread and cheese provided. Service was amazing. Nice atmosphere and enjoyed the wines!

Our party of four were there for wine tasting. We were served by Shari who was absolutely wonderful and extremely knowledgeable, plus a super great personality. We greatly enjoyed the wines and cheese tray. What makes this place special is their sweet wines and Limoncello. The Loganberry, Triple Berry, and George's Peach wines are truly excellent. The Limoncello is totally different and one of a kind cordial. They have a large selection of whites and red wines. Their gift shop is filled with unique items. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place.

I understand they have a restaurant, we got to go to the back to the barrel room it's a nice place but the wines are mediocre at best the Lemonchello and House Made Gin are the way to go. Staff is helpful and pleasant. They have parking a plus.

We had their "hot lunch" on 2/4/23. Our selections: Finger lakes Melt- a most unique and tasty toasted cheese! Cranberry BBQ- wonderful and with a "slaw" dressing. CREAMY TOMATO SOUP exquisite! Paired with a bottle of semi-dry Riesling-!! Manager and part time chef John McNabb has prepared a excellent lunch menu. You will not be disappointed.

I've lived in the Finger Lakes for 15 years now, and although I've known of Knapp Vineyard, today marked my very first visit. And, holy moly, have I been missing out! For starters, I enjoyed one of the best meals I've had all year--at a winery that I didn't even realized served food. Tonight I chose the Ahi Tuna Yamitsuki Poke Bowl, which came with two very generous portions of tuna glazed with a spicy plum sauce and accompanied by ancient grains, pickled red onions, and a really interesting vegetable side that included grape tomatoes, kale, cucumbers and onion, all marinated in a Japanese-style sesame-soy dressing that has a wonderful zing. With an emphasis on intriguing flavor combinations and fresh, distinctive ingredients, Knapps' restaurant reminds me of CoreLifeEatery or Moosewood (although it is *not* primarily a vegetarian establishment). Tonight's other specials included Octopus Tacos; Lobster, Crab and Shrimp Rolls; a Rachero Wrap (featuring chicken fried in Japanese breadcrumbs); Broiled Scallops; and the Fried Avocado Burger. It all sounds incredible. As one of the wait staff told me, somewhat hilariously, "our food is prepared by a real executive chef, NOT a 'cook'." Whatever you want to call him, chef John McNabb deserves lavish praise for this incredible, inventive menu--especially given that he's not even yet 35 years old! McNabb is an Auburn native who returned back to his home region and eventually landed at Knapp in 2007 (sources: fltimes.com and fingerlakeswinecountry.com). I am not much of a wine drinker, so this review will not dive deep into the vineyard aspect. But I did do a tasting of six wines, and enjoyed the Pasta Red as well as the Dry Riesling. There are also a wide variety of spirits and even a cider to try. The tasting room is festively decorated with tons of string lights, barrels, and wrought iron decor for a cozy, rustic feel. There's was 3- or 4-piece band playing when I was there, but the volume was perfect -- loud enough to hear and enjoy, but soft enough to have a conversation. I'll definitely be returning to sample some more entrées on a future visit . . . as well as some of the desserts, which sound downright decadent. Limoncello Mascarpone Mousse Cake or "our giant house-made Stuffed Brioche Cardamom Cinnamon Bun with Whipped Cream," anyone?? As of July 2019, Knapp's restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Thursdays-Sundays in April; seven days a week May through October; and weekends only in November. They also now serve brunch on Sundays. And here's a pro tip: take advantage of the "Knapp Signature Wine Experience," and (with 48 hours' notice), the chef will provide a basket filled with "gourmet picnic fare" for only $20 per person. You can also select any of their wines to include, and you'll get a 20% discount off the retail price. You can even choose a designated spot on their property to enjoy your special picnic with stunning lake views.

We met our friends here for lunch and for some winetasting and had a great couple of hours. It was a very chilly day but we decided to sit outside because the interior of the restaurant wasn't so interesting is he outside was. The inside definitely needs some work. The food was really good and I fell in love with one of the sparkly wines from the Hosmer vineyard.

Lovely setting for a gorgeous fall day on the covered patio, overlooking the vineyard. We had an enjoyable, leisurely lunch. The food was excellent, as usual. My husband and I both ordered the Prime Rib French Dip sandwich, topped with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and served with a side of au jus. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the portion was very large. The freshly baked sub roll was a perfect touch! The sandwiches come standard with house potato chips, but we opted for their fries instead, which were very crisp and well seasoned. DH enjoyed a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which he said was very good, and I ordered their dry Riesling (excellent). The service was quite slow, but understandable due to Covid restrictions. We did not mind this time, because it was a beautiful fall day, but it did take 2 hours from the time we were seated until we paid our bill. Another misstep.. my husband ordered sweet potato fries, but received French fries instead. Minor issues for such a great restaurant with excellent food. However, those are the reasons for a little less than 5 star rating. I highly recommend Knapp winery, especially for outdoor dining.

I've been to quite a few wineries in the Ithaca area and this was one of my favorites - great space bother indoors and outdoors, we did a tasting and it was very fun but still professional and we learned a lot. When we went the food was not open because it was too early in the season but I would definitely come back here and try it out!

This was our tenth stop on a dreary, damp Saturday that was part of the Bacon on the Lake-in wine tour promo on Cayuga Lake. Since this was more about the bacon infused dishes than the wine - I will comment on the bacon dish served here. The Knapp Winery was serving a bacon & cauliflower soup which was surprisingly excellent - the surprise for me and others in our group was that we are not big fans of cauliflower but this was really tasty. We'd order a bowl of it if they served it at their restaurant. Not being right on the lake the view is not much but the space they had set up in their back cask room for this special event was very nicely decorated. I am not sure if they rent it out for other events but the barrels with the Christmas lights were very festive. The woman who poured our wines was really alot of fun and so we got silly and decided to try some old school wines made with the Catawba grape - wow that took me back.

White table cloths inside. Or outside you can sit under the roof or under umbrellas looking at the vineyards. Very diverse wine choices, so many things to choose from menu. Their portions are huge.

Do not miss this winery when you are visiting Cayuga Lake. The kind-of-new owners are killing it! The wines, made by the kind-of-new (female - I love it!) winermaker are awesome. We are fans of reds, and the 3 of us who went there yesterday enjoyed every sip. Jen, our server (who might be the manager, as well? not sure) is terrific. She is charming and fun and made the experience even more enjoyable. This place should be a go-to destination for anyone thinking of going to Finger Lakes wineries.

Stopped by and we're so glad we did! Great wines, wonderful restaurant and dog friendly! Can't wait to go back.

We stopped here during my sisters bachelorette weekend wine tour! It was great! They were very accommodating of our large group and were very attentive and helpful. The wine was amazing as were the other spirits they had to taste (My favorite was the cucumber vodka). I would definitely go back for another tasting and maybe try the restaurant attached to their winery!

My Dad and I planned to stop in New York's famed Finger Lakes winery region on our trip from Rochester, NY to his home back east in Saratoga Springs. I reached out to my Yelp buddy, Bill Z, from Hyde Park, NY, for his recommendations of places to visit. Knapp Winery was Bill's #1 suggestion, and I have to agree that this is the quintessential winery, restaurant, tasting room, and gift shop in the Finger Lakes region. Knapp is located on the west side of Cayuga Lake, just south of the New York State Thruway in the little town of Romulus, and close to Seneca Falls. We followed a windy country road for several miles before turning down towards the lake and Knapp Winery. There are about 15 wineries located along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, and we would have been seriously snookered if we'd stopped at each one for a tasting tour. Knapp Winery is nestled in a valley less than a mile from the shore. Estate-grown European species grape vines such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Lemberger, comprise much of the farm land that slopes down to the lake. Knapp has been producing wines for over 30 years, and they are known for their dry and sweet wines with robust flavors and distinctive character. Knapp also produces small batch, handcrafted cordials. We started by touring some of their 40 acres of different types of grape vines before moving into their rustic barrel room, and learning a bit more about the process of turning grapes into wine. Knapp produces world-class Rieslings, Gewurztraminers, Lembergers, Chardonnays, Merlots, Sangioveses alongside French-American Hybrids such as Seyval, Baco Noirs, and more. I was quite surprised at the number of award-winning wines produced at this small winery. The tasting room was next, and here we were able to select six different one-ounce samples of their wine for the amazing price of $3. I was able to try their award-wining Riesling, Chardonnay, Lemberger, Sangiovese, Meritage, and a red blend called Pasta Red Reserve. They had about 30 different wines, ice wines, and sprits available for the tastings. From there we moved into their retail store, where I picked up a couple of bottles of wine to use for client gifts, and for enjoying with dinner during the rest of my vacation. Knapp also has a fabulous vineyard restaurant where we had a great lunch before continuing our tour of the Finger Lakes. Definitely add Knapp Winery in the Finger Lakes region of New York to your bucket list of places to visit!

Knapp Winery was the first stop on our Finger Lakes VIP tour (we received a VIP pass from our B&B, which hooked us up with 2 complimentary wine tastings at over 40 local wineries). I liked this winery and the wine was quite nice, very reasonably priced as well. We weren't aware when we booked our Finger Lakes getaway that we were going during the Cornell University alumni reunion weekend, so everywhere was busier than it might normally be for late Spring. The complimentary wine tasting was fun, although the cavernous space became super noisy with a stagette party. Clearly Knapp was not the first stop on their winery tour, everyone in the party was pretty amped. Our server was very nice and engaging, knowledgeable about the products and production methods. I have to admit that I like drinking wine, but I am not one to wax poetic about a wine's floral notes, strong finishes, robust aromas and such. If it tastes good and I can pick out a few different flavours in the wine, I am happy. Fruity, bold reds like Gamay and Baco Noir are my go-tos. My favourite wine from the tasting was the Pasta Red. Pretty sure anyone who digs wine in a serious way would cring at the thought of buying a "Table Red" with a mishmash of different varietals, but at $9.95 a bottle and a fruity taste, it had me sold! The fairly long wait to purchase my wine and the high noise level keep Knapp from a 5 star rating, but you too will be happy with this winery when you go. Santé!

Great winery - our favorite was the Cab Franc. Daphna served us and she was wonderful.

We arrived from out of state, ready to have a great time by hitting the Cayuga wine trail. We heard good things about the Knapp Winery so our party of 10 decided to try it out. Unfortunately, we did not make reservations so we were told they could not accommodate our large party. We offered to break into smaller groups and we're told no that is against their policy? That did make sense to us and offered again to break into smaller groups and the male attendant did not budge nor did he offer any other options. We ended up ordering 8 wine slushies. After paying for them , we noticed a sign stating that if buying 3 slushies, the 4th was free. One of my party asked for a refund for 2 of the slushies and he said he would give us 2 free slushies! I went to the counter and asked for the refund as 2 of our party did not want any slushies. He only gave her a refund for one because they were different sizes ! The sign said nothing about different sizes, so I asked to speak to the manager and he told me he was the manager because it is an employee owned facility! Very hard to believe that a manager would be very unaccommodating to paying customers. Great wine slushies, but cannot rate the wine as we were not allowed to wine taste. 0 for customer service! Also noticed BLACK MOLD at the register on the ceiling surrounding one of the support beams!!!

The wines were good, the cucumber vodka was amazing. There were some unique fruity beverages. I certainly approve of them joining in Ithaca's teacher appreciation week. Like many of the other wineries a few cats dot the premises.

It is very easy to have fun at this winery, as well as come away with some fantastic wine. The decor is fun, the gifts they sell are fun, and the tastings are fun, especially - as some others have already said - if you get Matt for your tastings. One reason I like Knapp is that they have a number of wines you can't find at the other Finger Lakes wineries. That, for me, included their Vignoles, and especially their Sangiovese. This is your winery to visit right before a meal, too. The food and service are of high quality. We had lunch there today, a selection of burgers. This is the first place I've been which serves a ground duck burger. My burger was their "Bork," a combination of Angus beef and pork, with their own smoked bacon and sauteed onions, perfectly cooked at medium. If you're working your way south, stop here for lunch; if you're working your way north, have dinner here. But most important, this is a winery at which you should savor food AND drink.

We loved this place. To be fair- we aren't wine drinkers but we're good sports and have made a point to try the local wineries while in the area. We appreciated their lunch menu as some of the other vineyards are pretty limited. I had a lobster/crab roll that was delicious. We both ordered a wine cocktail- the name escapes me now- but it was good (especially for the non- wine drinker) and we got a wine flight of some of their house made wines. We enjoyed them all but of course I have no insight for you as I'm not a wine-o.... but I'll say they're definitely worth a stop... great menu, beautiful grounds, nice people. We even bought a bottle of their wine (WE NEVER DO THAT) to enjoy back at our cottage.

What a pleasure it was to visit Knapp, especially after the disappointment of the past-its-prime Sheldrake. And to think, Yelp pointed the way. As soon as we arrived, Matt B. took care of us, pouring just about everything they had in the tasting room, and then some. And they had some good wines, some of which we hauled away in a box: Cab Franc, Gerwurtz, and other Finger Lakes staples really shine, and at very reasonable prices. Matt deserves a spot in the pantheon of wine industry veterans. He unretired from a successful career as a doctor to return to the place he loved. Of course, the tasting room itself is a wonder, a giant (yet cozy) barn meticulously decorated with seasonal trimmings. Cool stuff was spread out all over, and even a reluctant shopper like me was enticed to browse around between swishes. We stayed to eat at the restaurant, which turned out to be great. They had local ingredient and a beautiful view overlooking the vineyard, all in a very down-to-earth yet elegant setting. I couldn't recommend this place more. Easily one of the best wineries I've been to, and maybe the best in the Finger Lakes.

Came during off season so wasn't able to enjoy the restaurant portion so the review is for just the wine tasting in the back of the building near the restroom doors. For the tasting you don't get to pick and choose the wine like in most places. You choose a category: dry, sweet, etc. Once you choose your category you get the six wines in that category. I personally wasn't a fan of that style since I like to be able to jump around. I chose the sweet category since that aligned closer to what I liked. Some of them were good, but some were not. I really liked the Riesling, it had a very good balance. However was not a fan of the Black Cherry or Superstition. Superstition was way sweet for me and the Cherry tasted like cough syrup for me. Staff was polite. The manager (I think) was really friendly and personable.

Our favorite winery hands down. I believe it was the executive chef who was helping us. He was very kind and extremely knowledgable. I think we walked out with 12 bottles! Highly recommend.

I can't recommend Knapp Winery highly enough, particularly if you like sweet wines. They did have a number of drier wines but since I'm partial to the sweets that's where I focused. The gentleman, I want to say his name was Matt but I'm not sure, that did our tasting was older but did a great job. He had an awesome blend of humor, folksiness, and knowledge. He really made you feel at home. I would circle this place on the map if you're going anywhere near this area. They also have a restaurant on premise which isn't that common in the Finger Lakes. Another great thing about Knapp was that the wines were really reasonably priced. I walk away with a case which is more than I usually buy in several days of tasting.

Some of my most enjoyable time in the Finger Lakes wine region was spent here at Knapp. Like most wineries in the area, they really don't care how many wines you sample, so I sampled all of them and ended up purchasing half a crate. That is to say, the wines are excellent here. The service was excellent too. Our tasting host was flying solo behind the counter on a very busy Saturday afternoon and still managed to make down right friendly chit chat while telling my boyfriend and I way more than we ever needed to know about their wine and all things wine realted in general. Super educational. I found myself hankering for their Brut after the tasting and purchased a bottle - which was the only bottle of sparkling wine I purchased out of my 4 crate loot from the wine trail. Typically, I am not so much a sparkling wine type of person and only consume it on special occasions. In post-trip retrospect, I did not purchase nearly enough. Make sure to try it out.

Came for a bachelorette party and did the wine tasting. We were very disappointed in the wine tasting. You had to use the same glass for each tasting and secondly, the servings were sad. You received about 0.5-1 ounce of wine poor tasting. The food was so so. Would not recommend this winery. Below is a pic of my wine tasting. I thought all of their wines were decent enough, but none of them really blew me away. Tasting was pretty standard all around - it was fine, but felt a bit corporate, nothing super exciting... *except* their brandy, which you could have as one of your tastes if you want. Their brandy is absolutely exceptional - super smooth, and incredibly flavorful. It's not super cheap (25 bucks for a half-bottle), but for the quality, that's very reasonably priced.

My boyfriend and I went to the Knapp Winery while vacating in the Finger Lakes on 8/12/14. It turned out to be our favorite tasting experience of the trip (we bought close to a case of their wine). The gentleman who gave us our tasting was adorable. He had a great ethusium for the products at Knapp. I highly suggest Knapp keep him around as long as possible. My only compliant and it is minor was when we went to the retail section of the winery to purchase our bottles nobody was at the counter and it took a couple of minuties for someone to show up. Since I was on vacation and in no particular rush this was not a big deal. However it might be something to keep in mind if you're looking for a winery that is a quick stop. This is also a very economically winery when you take into account the discounts Knapp offers.

I went here with a bachelorette party. We had a reservation. For large groups they use a preselected lists of wines. 3 reds, 3 whites. For each sample you can choose dry or sweet. Staff was friendly. The room is lined with barrels and it's beautiful. I left with a bottle of reisling.

One of the stops on the Mardi Gras wine tour. Loved the layout of the tasting room and the small pond in the back. There's also a donkey on premises named Doobie. You can't go wrong there!

Each time we come up to the Geneva NY area we go to one or two wineries to sample the wine and check out their restaurant. This time we went to Knapp Winery. We first went to the restaurant and were seated outside with a view of the vineyard. With the grape vines overhead it was the start of good experience. We were told the menu had just been changed. The highlight of our meal was the Grilled Beet and Goat cheese salad. The waitress was friendly and efficient, but it was clear she was not very informed about the Knapp wines. I am generally not a big fan of NY wines, but at Knapp I was impressed with their Limencello and Grappa. No views of the lake, but overall a great winery to have lunch and a quick taste.

Stopped at this winery with a large group. It was nice to see them organized enough to give us a private tasting. The two pourers were very knowledgable and friendly. They even gave my friend a birthday shot of their vodka! The wines didn't impress me. But the winery itself was very nice.

We visited this lovely restaurant this past Saturday for lunch! Weather was so nice we sat outdoors on the patio! We love this place and it has only gotten better with their new young executive chef Dan McNabb! We started out with a nice light but flavorful Sangiovese red wine. We ordered the Chevre Cheesecake appetizer. It was presented on a large wooden board that had two slices of the cheesecake in whole wheat crust, medjul dates, dried cranberries, grapes, crispy lavash cracker, slices of spiced apple and this outstanding bacon jam!! Oh my out of this world!! They should jar that jam and sell!!!! We also tried a cup of the chefs choice of mushroom merlot soup!! Outstanding as well! Next on the list was our sandwiches. I ordered a grilled sourdough three cheese sandwich and my husband ordered The Cuban sandwich! I must say I liked mine better and so did my husband. The Cuban wasn't as flavorful as the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese had two kinds of cheddar and smoked Gouda and had that fabulous bacon jam on it!!! Too full for dessert and brought half of our lunch home. So happy we decided to stop on our way to Ithaca!! You must stop too and you'll wonder why this place hasn't gotten more press for sure! Bon appetite!!

First I want to any to say the landscape is perfect. We sat out side on their patio and it was a nice day! The service was so bad they had 2 only 2 waitresses for inside and out and they were busy. My meal was tasteless ..,I got the shrimp scampi and there was not a trace of garlic and it had so much water on the bottom of my bowl. This is why I feel only 1 star is warranted. PS good luck trying to get a glass of wine.

I have been visiting Knapp Winery for 20 years now. I have had the pleasure of having Matt as one of my wine tasting experts many times. This current time I had the pleasure of meeting Katie. Katie was absolutely wonderful and made my tasting experience great. I also want to thank her for noticing my pet memorial necklace and saying that she was sorry that I had lost my fur baby. She extended that moment of kindness to me when she was very busy. Thank you Katie !!!!

Great winery with a nice variety and cute gift shop. We really enjoyed their riesling and their Limoncello. Maybe on the next visit we will have the time to try the restaurant. It was highly recommended by another winery in the area.

Whenever I discuss Knapp with my friends, it inevitably leads to the same summary, "Any wine tour goes downhill at Knapp!" At face value, this summary sounds like something bad, but it's quite the contrary! Knapp always leads to good times, but you will only remember some of them. I have been on 30+ wine tours around the Finger Lakes. Of them, about 12-15 were around Cayuga Lake and we stopped at Knapp every single time. Sometimes that stop was first, sometimes that stop was 7th. However, no matter when the stop, after we visit Knapp, our memory always gets hazy. Since this always happened on WINE tours, you would think that this was because Knapp makes high alcohol content jug wine... but.... Knapp actually makes some of the best wine on Cayuga. In particular, they have a nice Riesling and are experimenting with some interesting varietals such as Sangiovese. What actually causes this hazy memory is Knapp's production of delicious cordials!!! They make one heck of a Limoncello and Grappa. Let me tell you, these drinks pack quite the punch!

Jon B. is right....things to seem to get hazy after a visit to Knapp Winery. For us it was this nice grandfatherly gentleman who winked and joked his way through our tasting. What a character! Whatever you're paying him I hope it's good because this guy was classic. Example #1 of things getting hazy...I don't even remember the tasting guy's name, but I'd know that wink if I saw it again. Ok winos here's the low down... -Rieslings here (and this region in general are where it's at yo!) At Knapp they tended to be on the drier side, but their semi-dry was actually still on the sweeter side. -Kat Knapp is made from the Catabwa grape which is also a featured grape of the area. It was grapey, but more complex than your standard Concord grape -Brandies and Cordials are a delight for your taste buds and definitely contribute to the haze of your brain -Limoncello don't leave without trying this one I thought the prices for wines were very reasonable and the gift shop actually had some unique items. There is a restaurant adjacent to the winery and my parents had a fabulous dinner there recently. It's cute with it's vineyard decor. Cat lovers and non-cat lovers alike will enjoy the comings and goings of the resident cat....what was his name again?

The staff was very rude. Came here to celebrate my birthday and they barely gave us enough tastings for one sip. After the tasting when we wanted to walk around the vineyard and take pictures, the staff had said "usually after the tasting you leave right away" in a nasty tone. We had drove an hour and a half to come to this winery and for them to be rude and unenjoyable, it was very disappointing. I do not recommend this place while there are many other great places with much friendly staff. Do not go.

Visiting the Finger Lakes for the first time, Knapp was recommended as a stop we might enjoy. Not so much. The server wasn't very friendly and it almost seemed as if she was reading a script. The wines we tried were ok but nothing to write home about. Also there was nothing on the counter to cleanse the palate in between wines, so after the second they all kind of blended together.

Good wine. Great food. The staff was excellent. And therefore, you will not be disappointed - but make sure you sit outside. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I had the prime rib sandwich - which I have eaten various versions of throughout the country, and this was as yummy as it gets. Knapp's has a queit atmosphere but beautiful scenery. If you go for the wine, try the red port with a dash of brandy. And ask for Matt if you do a wine tasting (he's been there for near 13yrs) - and he treated this American like a king!
