A unique antique settlement located on western cape of the peninsula. The settlement utilizes 2 adjacent harbours opening to the opposite sides, like one to the Aegean and the other to the Mediterranean, thanks to the exceptional and strategic geography of the location. Swimming is available on the site. There are a couple of facilities serving dinner. And the sunset is fascinating if you are located in a good spot such as a Roman temple or Heron on the slopes. The antique site is closed for visits at 20:00.

Fascinating settlement with a long history behind, the ancient city of Knidos was founded 2500+ years ago by the Dorians and soon became an important commercial and military harbor. The site is visitable with a €5 ticket, quite cheap compared to other archaeological sites in Turkey. They must have considered the difficulty in reaching the place: the road from Datça is pretty narrow and it takes about an hour from there, but the views are very enjoyable. Among the ruins you can find the amazing theatre facing the old commercial harbor, rests of temples and churches and so on. Overall, it could be kept better, but restoration is still on the way. I suggest coming in the morning then exploring the beaches along the peninsula.

It is located approximately 35 km from the center of Datça. It is reached by narrow and winding roads. It is a magnificent ancient city that is a bit difficult to enter by car but worth the trip. It is a city established between the famous centers of the ancient period, Kos and Rhodes islands. The city seems to be built on terraces. When you look up from the high hill, you can easily distinguish the terraces. The ancient city is connected to the island in front of it. As a result, it has two bays. One of these bays was used by warships and the other by trade ships. You can enter for free with the Museum Card. It is an ancient city where it is very enjoyable to visit. However, the surrounding facilities (cafes, etc.) are limited. Accordingly, it is necessary to go prepared.

Arriving at Knidos Ancient City by sailboat in August 2023 was a great experience. The ancient site is very beautiful to explore. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat. Enjoy the amazing view!

Knidos Ancient City – Where Sea Meets Centuries A truly magical place, nestled between the turquoise waters and the echoes of ancient history. The ruins, the views, the atmosphere—Knidos is a timeless gem on the edge of the Aegean. Absolutely unmissable.

It is one of the best preserved archeological sites in Turkey. Plan your trip for the sundown time to catch awesome views. It is a shame that there are no lights in the site to see the structures at night.

Had a look around this ancient city it is definitely worth a visit. It can be hard going in areas and is definitely a lot bigger than it looks. If your not steady on your feet certain area will be difficult to reach. But you can just keep to the bottom end of the site. You could spend a good couple of hours just walking around the site. It was 6 euros for entry, which we didn't mind paying as it goes towards the up keep of the site, plus some of the views are absolutely beautiful.

5* nature beauty 5* service 3* accessibility ♿ This is the very best spot i have visited in this area for the reasons of: ancient city ruins, nature beauty of rocks and mountains, and lighthouse as a marvelous sightseen here. The entrance fee is 5 EUR, the opening hours are from 9.00 till 20.00 in summer time. There not so many accessible paths here, but there is parking, entrance and main accessible viewpoint. Other part of the spot is hiking area, including lighthouse. The best time to visit is before sunset of course, both from the ancient city side or from the lighthouse.
