I bought a 2 bedroom property on the Knights Quarter development in January 2023, and this has been my experience after a year of living here.
I have found many snags since moving in, the most alarming of which was multiple leaks found in separate areas in the property.
One bathroom had a faulty shower tray installed, meaning water pooling on the incorrect end away from the drain, requiring the shower tray to be ripped out and replaced.
Another leak in the kitchen, which required dismantling of units to find and then fix.
The leaks in the main bathroom were the most serious, and required the whole bathtub and tiling removed in order to try and find, and fix the issue. This has also resulted in mould growth in the bathroom and hallway, which required walls ripping out and replaced (see attached photos).
The hardwood flooring installed in my property has found to be faulty throughout the entire flat, so I am currently waiting on this to be fixed and rectified, over a year after moving in.
One of the doors onto the balcony were installed in such a way that they hit the brick wall upon opening, as well as other cosmetic snags throughout the property.
Overall my personal impression of this development is that it has been designed to look aesthetically pleasing, whilst having poor workmanship behind the surface, especially concerning plumbing. I have given up a large number of days off so that Berkeley’s agents can try to rectify all of these issues, with no goodwill received thus far for the stress and time sacrificed.
Whilst Berkeley are slowly fixing the snags, I am still left with large items of work outstanding over a year after moving in (for the snags I have found so far). I could not recommend this development to any friends or family. I would not buy on this development again given the chance.
