Knockranny House Hotel

Our third trip to knockranny for our January birthday treat. This time booked a 2 night stay in the Presidential Suite. Sadly the heating wasn’t fully working in our suite but fair play to the staff, they responded quickly and agreed to move us to a master suite for our second night which was an equally fabulous room and even sent us a nice bottle of bubbly as an apology. Thanks to Kasia at reception and Stephen, duty manager, for making sure everything was sorted and we had a brilliant stay for rest of the wknd. ||We dined in the hotel restaurant on one night. Prices have gone up there but the food was fine. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel dining room is blessed with stunning views of Croagh Patrick and glimpses of Clew Bay so it’s a lovely place to dine, especially in the morning. ||We had some treatments in Spa Salveo. Thanks to Amy and Ceilí for looking after us there. ||At checkout, our bill was further discounted to make up for room issues on the first night which was a very nice gesture from the hotel. ||All in all, a very nice stay in knockranny which is why we’ll be back there again!

Had a lovely 3 night stay. Everything went great. We selected the best double room. Only complaint is that it was too big - hard to find where you left your shoes. Bathroom very nice ,||Food was good whoever there were no beans for breakfast or hash browns.

My partner & I had an excellent stay at Knockranny! We stayed in a suite & we had excellent room service & a lovely view. The staff at the front desk & the restaurant were so friendly & great. We also had massages by Ceili & Sarah & it was an 11/10. Highly recommend!

This was our third stay in KHH in the past 2 years. I always enoy the full package - the rooms, food - breakfast, the pool and spa treatment. The site, grounds and view from KHH is fabulous. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. Amy who gave me a spa treatment was excellent. The town is only a short walk away with loads to see and do, its only a 2 hour drive from where we live so its excellent for a quick getaway!

We stay in turret room which is really comfortable. Our third time staying between Christmas & New Year. Even though there was a wedding on, we didn’t hear a thing as the hotel is well designed. Comfortable bar. The food is excellent & staff friendly. The spa uses luxurious Kerstin Florian products.

Seems like a very nice hotel. We didn't spend the night so I can't comment on the rooms but the food and service at the event we attended were great.

We've stayed in quite a few hotels in Galway/Mayo but this ranks No.1 We loved our room,a Grand Deluxe,I'd say it was slightly bigger than the ground floor of your average house. The staff were friendly and efficient,the food excellent. And we considered the whole experience as money well spent. We had 5 nights in total,wish we'd had more time.

Beautiful Hotel. Breakfast was the best that we have ever had in any Hotel. We didn't have dinner here (which was a pity) . We decided to explore the town instead.

One of the absolute, non-negotiable services any hotel must get right is scheduling. Apparently, Knockranny House is incapable of keeping proper track of this necessary task. As a result, we had to make emergency accommodations and significantly disrupt our plans - diverting our tour to an out-of-town location, which was severely deleterious to our plans for a meal and a show in Westport. It's common to say "would give no stars if I could", but here there's some merit to the assertion - their failures caused impact to our visit extending outside the hotel, a rare thing for even a bad hotel to accomplish. Trusting this hotel to not hurt your visit to the town itself would be a mistake, so yes this in fact does deserve the "zero star" moniker.

They messed up our reservation so it's a sh&^storm. We're going elsewhere. They fixed it but it's a serious inconvenience

I have been living in California for a while but we have family in Mayo so we stopped into the knockranny house hotel for a short visit over the summer. We had a great (walkable) night out in Westport. That was a huge plus that we didn't have to worry about grabbing a taxi. We had an amazing dinner in La Fougere. The spa was average and the massage was alright. I think the best pets of this stay were location and delicious food! The staff at the knockranny house hotel was very accommodating in our short stay there

Probably should have arrived earlier than 6:00 pm but we were traveling from Galway. No availability for massage and the beautiful pool, spa would be shutting soon (early in my opinion). The room we stayed in is at the point that a RESORT and SPA needs to address. Furniture is a bit beat-up, carpets worn and repairs in the bathroom reflect caulk and backwards hot/cold settings. The restaurant food was limited but very good. Wait staff very friendly and attentive. And a beautiful view! I would stay in another place.

3.5 stars for Knockranny House. Here's why: The 'three night luxury break' special included two dinners, daily breakfast and a deluxe room which was so spread out that there was a huge gap in the middle making it feel less cozy. Along with oddly placed furniture and a dimly lit bathroom, it wasn't as much of a haven as expected. But, it was nicely decorated and the bathroom marble floors and counters and whirlpool bathtub made up for it a bit. Knockranny classifies itself as a 'luxury' hotel, but little things like a broken light-up magnifying mirror in the dim bathroom - quickly replaced with a countertop mirror when addressed; missing slippers which had to be snagged from the housekeeping cart; lack of hooks anywhere to hang up robes, etc.; an unsightly old wall-mounted hair dryer which went unused when a decent one was discovered in the closet; and cheap in-room ammenities like rough hand soap and all-in-one hair shampoo and conditioner began to add up a bit... Walking the length of the hotel we discovered that while parts of it were lovely like the conservatory and one of the main halls, some of the furniture was tattered and begging to be replaced. With much traffic at this popular wedding destination one would think that the revenue is there to do some updating especially in the older parts of the hotel. As for dining, breakfast offerings were great especially the salmon and poached eggs. Lunch in the bar area was casual - order the fish and ships and sit fireside or overlooking the lovely view. The bar offers 7 euro bevvies for their version of 'happy hour' which is cool. As for the dinner at La Fougere, the starters were great and the mains were nice but the deserts were mediocre. As for ambiance, the unnecessary bright lighting stole from the experience; all the tables were candlelit so we expected the lights to be dimmed as the sun set but that didn't happen even after we inquired. If you're looking for a weekend getaway, keep in mind that weddings - likely including lots of children - are the thing here and you'll likely be having breakfast with kids running circles around you or waking you as they yell/run through the hallways. This was constant - due to the holiday weekend draw or the two huge weekend weddings that took place. The one area that offers a wonderful experience is Spa Salveo. Follow the odd purple-lit hall to access the pool. Except for the hotel guest who decided to use it to swim laps (save that for a designated lap pool folks) the spa was lovely and deserves a separate review. Knockranny offers great service; a phone call, request or question is met with a smile and/or a quick response. The hotel meets expectations for many, but if you're looking for an overall intimate, romantic and relaxing getaway, reconsider.

Jest checked in today after 24 hours of travel from LA. This is not a typical business hotel. This is a step back in time hotel. All is beautiful so far on day one. I have not checked on the gym or Internet yet, but will review those tomorrow. Checkout my room and room service tray photographs I just posted. So far, 5 star rating from me! Cheese tray is really over the top good! Day two has taken me to the fitness center and diner for breakfast. Fitness center has very little equipment and what it does have is dated. Breakfast service was average, but quality of hot breakfast above average. They had few vegetarian options on the hot breakfast, but what they offered was tasty.

We stayed in the hotel one night. The hotel is fabulous with stunning views of the mountain and the sea. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. I especially loved the breakfast. We will definitely be revisiting next year for a longer stay.

I was at Knockranny House Hotel Thursday October 24th for lunch. I was with my mother (89 years old) and 3 sisters. We went there because Knockranny was highly recommended. It is a beautiful hotel. But, I was so disappointed with the food and service. The bar (where we had lunch as the dining room doesn't open until 6:00pm !!) was cold and not very comfortable. The food was subpar to say the least. We had chicken wings to start and they were ok. We had Fish and chips, chicken burger, Thai chicken curry and buttermilk chicken for lunch. The chips were cold (the few that came with the meal), chicken was over cooked and dry. Not quite the standard I had expected. The service was friendly but slow. Why didn't I complain there and then? Well I didn't want to make a fuss as my my mother would have been upset. Not sure if I will go back. Sad to say as it is such a gorgeous setting.

Beautiful hotel, breathtaking views, beautifully manicured grounds, quick stroll to the nearby pubs and shops, great service, I believe my only reason for the 4 star is because there isn't any air conditioning and of course I was in Ireland during unusually hot weather, but still was uncomfortable in the hotel room

We had wonderful stay! The room was huge and the breakfast was devine! The location was good, being close to the city and sights. I would definitely stay here again!!
