Ko Tarutao

I had a great couple of nights here in early April, 2025. The first night I’m pretty sure I was one of the only tourists on the island, and definitely the only one at the area I stayed (right near the boats) The rangers were super friendly and helpful, The food was delicious and the portions were large, I rented a mountain bike from the ranger and rode down the whole island, which was quite hilly (up and down and up and down) and the monkeys weren’t super excited that I existed, but the beaches further down were STUNNING and completely my own to explore. At the camp, the hornbills would come right up close, the racket tailed drongos would sing to me every morning, and there were hammocks to relax in and read my book while I drank a couple beers (from the shop that isn’t always open when it says it will be) If you want to see in-spoiled Thailand and not have throngs of tourists ruining it for you, definitely come here. I 100% would love to come back someday

This particular tiny island was only a quick stop with no tourism or infrastructure but goodness me.... just one of the most sublimely beautiful places, truly a Robinson Crusoe sort of place. I'm not sure of it's correct name, but if you can ever visit it's just white sandy beach perfection. And the rock arch, just mind blowingly beautiful! UPDATED it is called Koh Khai

Nice island, it used to be natural jail before. You can visit only high season, they close on rainy season. Because of safety reason.

Amazing island (if you love insects) :-) .. there is also a lot of monkeys, lizzards etc. Beautiful beaches, privacy. Perfect for couples. You can book acommodation in national park. There are 2 restaurants in Panta Malacca and Ao Son. Warning- restaurant in Ao Molae is closed since january 2018!!!

Perfect place. Crystal clean water, amazing white sand. Few cars and scooters on the island so the air is perfect too. Camping place on a beautiful beach (30batt per night) for budget travelers. Bicycle rent 250 batt per day (500batt deposit), Kayak rent 250batt per hour or 500 per day are awailable. Cons - poor food choice in shop and both restaurants. Bad choice for fruit-lovers only bananas (50batt) and mandarin (100 batt) available in restaurant. The worst cons is staff attitude. They don’t even try to show that they care. Awful attitude. Or it’s just the way to protect this beautiful place from nasty tourists.

Great island for walking on the trails but it seems nobody mentions the loads of sand flies in ko tarutao beaches, be careful especially mornings and evenings

The wildest Thai island ! Beautiful, untouched and very very very calm. You can easily imagine how life in those islands were before mass tourism came upon them... Special mention to the rangers team, they are exceptionally nice and helpful. So I'd like to give them a warm thanks for all the advice and the smiles they shared with us. P.S : I don't know your name Mr Ranger, but you gave me smoking papers and it saved my life hahaha so khob khun khrap again ☺️
