Historical and scenic but I tried some food and was not too impressed. It's a great place to take some photos and enjoy the ambiance. It's a pity that most of the shops sell the same thing probably from the same factory.
I found one shop that seemed to make their things from scratch. The dumplings were not bad in taste but the skin was under needed so there was a lack of gluten development. I make them some and dumplings at home so I know what I'm talking about.

It was honestly such a crowded street. If youre not close to your group, you can get separated easily. So many of the stalls were really crowded. Food was good here and there, but there was a lack of diverse choices. Just overall a one and done experience. I liked the tall arch at the entrance, it was very reminiscent of the food night markets in Taiwan

Arrived in the evening—most shops were already closed, but the Chinese-style architecture and the soft glow of red lanterns still wrapped the street in a rich, exotic charm 🎐✨
I can only imagine how vibrant it must feel during the day.
Next time, I’m definitely coming earlier—how about a steaming bowl of beef noodle soup and a classic milk tea? 🥡🧋

You'll find Chinatown everywhere in the world, Kobe is no different and is believed to be the largest (or one of the largest) in Japan.
Cultures do like congregating together. Here, amongst the Chinese foods, sometimes there's dragon dances and other events held at the main square.
It's nice to venture out.

The Kobe Chinatown is must visit places. There are multiple food stalls and dumpling restaurants you cannot miss. Happening places and long queue at Roshoki 老祥记 for their famous pork steamed bun

Among the old Chinatowns around the world, Kobe’s is an impressive and bustling example of how a Chinatown can remain relevant. It has several things going for it; to start with, its size beats others such as London or Chicago, and its layout provides a sense of real existence, with a central square serving as a crossroads and streets flowing north, south, east, and west. Entrances at each point of the compass complete the sense of place.

Just like Yokohama's Chinatown, Kobe Chinatown is definitely worth a visit. Lots of restaurant and shops. The side alley around the square is a treat in itself. Put it on your side quest for your trip to Osaka area.
