Google
Amazing place for great quality food. This place is a must go when in Prague. The owner and team are very hospitable.

Google
Our favourite in Prague! Such a lovely place. The tapas are great!!! Highly recommend the fried cornbread olives - they’re olives coated in a breading and fried and absolutely phenomenal. We loved everything. The homemade bread is fantastic. We both loved the pulled duck burger. Great portions for a great price. Highly recommend. They take reservations as well. Great atmosphere and lovely server! Thank you.

I've eaten here many times but never for lunch. Everything was excellent as always.

Google
An absolute gem! We were lucky to simply walk in for dinner without a reservation. We were immediately impressed by the cozy atmosphere of the brick walls and arches, and the welcoming and attentiveness of the staff. They made good wine recommendations and pairings to go with our food, which was one of the best we've had! Don't be misled by the name and anonymity of the place- it's 5/5 stars!!

Google
Could not rate this place higher. Location is quite hidden so I'm not sure many tourists know of its existence. The food was extremely cheap for the quality you get. We ordered 6 tapas and 2 desserts and 2 drinks and came out with a bill under 1200cz. The drinks, which were homemade lemonades were huge and tasted lovely. The food looked and tasted expensive and you got a really personalised experience where you could see the chef cooking the food for you. The dishes were also unique and complex, nothing like the tapas we've tried before. The desserts were displayed uniquely and tasted amazing as well. The waiter even gave us a dessert in the house. The waiter was friendly, made conversation and had very impressive English skills. I would recommend this place to everybody visiting prague and if we ever return we would for sure come back to the restaurant.

Very pleasant new finding in the area! We went with a colleague for a spontaneous lunch and it was delicious! Risotto with truffles and very juicy turkey. Yummy! On top of that, personal is super nice and attentive. The place is quite spacey, despite photos that make it look small. Just entrance looks a bit tricky, mind your head :) Kofein will definitely become our regular spot.

Highly recommend!! Went there last night worth a friend and everything was great. We didn’t reserve a table and waited for like 20 minutes on a Tuesday night (note to self: book a table). The vibe is really good at this place, not too loud and very cozy. And the food... 🤤 we ordered in total 6 different tapas dishes and all of them were really good (and around 85-115 CZK each). My favorites were the egg plant with cheese (it reminded me of a healthy lasagna) and the stuffed mushrooms. Really, don’t miss out on this place !

Google
One of the long term best places in Prague. Serving great lunch menus as well as amazing tapas in the evening. Always fresh ingredients, good selection of wine and other drinks. Service at its best, able to recommend wine based on your preference. Always friendly. Last, but not least, still place where you can eat great food for good for decent prices.

Yelp
Once in a while, you luck out in a foreign country and find a gem of a restaurant like Kofein. Within 10 min walking distance from our hotel in Vinohrady, this Tapas restaurant was best meal/dining experience we had in Prague. Menu was mostly in Czech but the owner/host went through each item with us and gave us great recommendations. We had: Tapas: - cornmeal crusted olives with jalapeno and tomato salsa -Roasted tiger prawns with white wine, garlic and chili - Duck breast with potato puree, apple and hibiscus sauce - Home-made beetroot bread with creamy green pepper dip Main: (special for the night) Chicken breast with the best hummus and some kind of wine reduction Everything was on point! Food forward, innovative, well-balanced & unpretentious. Just well thought out combinations of food you know was made with passion & love. Oh, And the wine selection /recommendation was great as well. And food was inexpensive compared to where I live in Los Angeles, California. (Probably would have been at least twice as much here.) I look forward to going back to the Wonderful city of Prague and enjoying everything else on the menu at this gem of a restaurant! Thank you owner & chef & server!

Yelp
Best place in Prague. Took our friends from Florida and once again the food was fabulous. What a wonderful place! The owner and staff are amazing as well. You must try!!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for a late night dinner around 10pm and luckily this place was still open and serving! It was one, if not the best, meal we had while in Prague. The portion sizes are small because it's more of a wine bar/tapas type of place but we really loved it because you could try a lot of different things. The atmosphere was nice and laid back as well. We tried the homemade lemonade as well but we didn't really like it because it was slightly carbonated, which we hadn't been expecting. The food was amazing though! We got calamari, veal, and a little salad to share. The food was so fresh and everything has amazing flavor. If we're ever in Prague again, we will definitely come back here.

Yelp
Easily the best restaurant I tried in my limited time in Prague. I sat at the bar and I ordered several tapas. Being at the bar meant I was able to view the chef work on my dishes, and I could see nothing was pre-cooked. They were delicious from the eggplant, the stuffed mushrooms and the tortilla. The eggplant had the right amount of tartness from the tomato sauce, the mushrooms were not too heavy on the cheese, and the tortilla worked well with the complimentary bread. The bartender who served me was very nice and the ambience is cozy and dark enough to host a romantic date. Oh the beers they had were great. The price was very reasonable in that two beers and the 3 dishes came out to about 20 U.S. dollars.

Yelp
Oh man, can't rave enough. I've been here twice in a week because it's so fresh and delicious. Concept- tapas style with a very few large dishes. Vegetarian friendly, and by that I mean fresh, flavorful dishes, not just French fries ;) It's hard to share with more than one per dish, as the portions really cater to two maximum per dish. In that case, not traditional Spanish tapas, but maybe Czech Tapas? Food - organized as hot and cold to ensure your pallet is satisfied. I was surprised green beans are on the cold list, but they are my favorite dish by far and I don't even like green beans! They have plenty of garlic, are cooked perfectly, and come with potatoes. Cucumber, avocado gazpacho was refreshing and spicy- so much flavor and oh so fresh tasting. Beef carpaccio was absolutely perfect. Again, small portion, but the paired flavors were literally perfect. King prawns, not my favorite, lots of butter but still good. Same with the calamari. Vegetarian burger was a homemade patty and was quite filling - on the large dish menu. Wines are pretty expensive for the quality, but how can you get so many small flavorful dishes and not pair the with a nice wine? Staff is very nice. They got by on English, but it was a struggle so make sure you're patient with them! In any case, I think you get the point - go hungry and indulge!!

Yelp
This was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Prague 3 years ago and coming back, the quality has not lost its touch one bit! Kofein is such a leader in inventive cuisine in a country that is known for simpler offerings based in meat and potatoes/dumplings. Kofein isn't traditional Czech at all, but they're changing menu can incorporate some Czech specialties from time to time. Such as on my recent visit, I tried their take on the known Czech beef, Svickova. It's moderately sliced beef in a creamy sauce accompanied by thick dumplings. I've tasted it elsewhere, but not like this. The sauce was so tasty and creamed to perfection. Every forkful of beef and dumpling soaked in the sauce was satisfying. They do a great lunch menu until 3pm, and for 160czk ($7) you get the daily soup, your choice of entree, and their homemade mint iced tea. Food in the Czech Republic is extremely affordable, especially if it's Czech food and not international. Kofein is a Czech restaurant that incorporates international influences, and for the quality you get, the price is very good. When I came here back in the day, I'd always order the white nougat soufflé dessert. I out everyone on to it when I brought them to the restaurant. I had it again on this visit and it is as good as I remember. One of my favorite desserts in any restaurant, and Kofein is one of my top restaurants that I've been out of anywhere in the world.

Yelp
I ate here twice. Once a burger which was juicy and the fries were great. Another time I had fried cheese, fried eggplant, fish and pistachio crepe bruele. Nice ambience and the place looks very special. Costs more than local restaurants but worth it.

Yelp
Lovely place, very chill atmosphere but the food is great and best of all you'll see the owner walking around serving and checking on people so you really feel like he cares. The dishes add up so you could easily wind up spending a bunch of money here but the FOOD IS AWESOME. Only downside is sometimes service is bad simply because there are not enough servers for the packed place and that can be annoying. Definitely make reservations even on a weekday!

Yelp
Lovely and cosy tapas restaurant that also serves fantastic burgers. Tucked away on a little side street, service was fast, really friendly and the food was absolutely fantastic. Between my bf and I, we shared the cucumber gazpacho, the salted peppers and a veggie burger, but honestly could have had a whole burger to myself it was so so good. For afters had the pistachio crem brûlée as others suggested and it was also 100% worth it. This place was busy on a Thursday night which is always a good sign, and I would recommend making your way here if visiting Prague. Edit: came back for another evening meal and can confirm everything was just as fantastic the second time. A lot of reserved tables so consider booking!

Yelp
Going to Kofein was by far one of the best experiences that I ever had when I was in Prague! It seems to be a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant, being located on a sleepy street and sub-ground level. It is quite small and only has a total of maybe 10 or 12 tables. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar because we didn't want to wait. We sat across from the chef to see the plates come together. We ordered a total of 6 tapas and 1 desert to share. We also had a table rosé that our waitress recommended. I cannot remember exactly what it was, but it was some of the best wine I've ever had. I cannot begin to explain the craftsmanship of the plates. They come up very unique plates and flavor combinations that melted in our mouths. The final price, which me and my friend split, came to around 600 CZK or $30. I had no problem paying for it because it was such high quality. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to try their larger plates, but I am confident in saying that they are delicious! Na zdraví!

Yelp
The food was amazing! The ambience was good, and there was a lovely menu! We first had some doubts because of the location of the restaurant, however we had an awesome night! Good prices, Nice menu and food!

Yelp
Just flew in from NC and wanted a lunch close to the apartment we are occupying. Kofein was recommended and was the perfect place thanks to the great patient staff along with great food and that wonderful iced tea. We will be in Praha for a month so I'm sure we will get to know the staff by name. Very comfortable for us first time visitors. Update: We had our last dinner at Kofein before flying back to the US tomorrow. Not only has each of the 6 lunches/dinners been wonderful over the past 30 days but the staff has gotten to know us personally. Thank You all at Kofein!

Yelp
This is an adorable little underground restaurant with amazing food, cheap prices, and sweet and helpful staff. It would be impossible to find this quality of food for such low prices anywhere in the US! We'll definitely be returning tomorrow night.

Yelp
Having visited my family in Prague from the US many times I generally have always loved Czech food - and nothing beats a beer and a sausage on Vaclav square. This place however really struck me as extraordinary out of all my trips. The food was excellent - and I mean, excellent - with a great variety of flavors. The service was friendly but not overbearing. The atmosphere was very relaxing. And they were so very tolerant of our dog who accompanied us during our dinner. Next time I'm in the city I'm definitely coming by again. Thank you!

Yelp
Basically I'm not a big friend of restaurants in a basement as some of them are welcome you with a bad smell. But the Kofein restaurant is far away from. The cooking station is the first you will see when you entering. They offer main courses like burgers but also cold and warm tapas. I love tapas and it's a place where you are getting a would say untypical Spanish kind of tapas. The tapas has been great and they know how to cook. The burger was also tasty and came with country potatoes. We had a bottle Pino Grigio for 398 CZK and it was tasty as well. The restaurant got 4 sections and goes deep inside. The furnitures are nothing special but fitting in the concept. People going there for dinner or just having drinks. The service was friendly but could be faster. They forgot we wanted to pay. It's a non smoking place. But the second time we had the cooking smell on us. Over all it's a nice place for a drink and casual dinner. The sound isn't too loud and it's a nice atmosphere. Try the various of tapas! Really recommendable.

Yelp
My family and I went to have dinner here tonight. We found this place on Yelp and thought it looked pretty good. Wow where we impressed!! We are visiting from San Francisco and we are very picky with our food. We all gave this place 5 stars! The food was amazing! Not only the taste was delicious but the presentation was incredible! My husband and daughters had the beef burger and the special chicken with wine sauce and veggies. We also had the greek salad and the trimasu. We are definitely going back there before returning to California. The owner was so nice and even gaves us suggestions and ordered a cab for us to go visit the palace tonight befite sunset.

Yelp
Absolutely terrific! Daily lunch menu: delicious soup with a choice of entrée (I had chicken and mushroom risotto) for 100 CZK. Unbeatable deal. Terrific casual atmosphere. Secluded and romantic and also clean and neat. I can't wait to go back for dinner.

Yelp
A warm place with a very gentle staff, the menu is very well priced with a soup a choice of different Czech dishes and an homemade tea for a bargain. The food was filling, the soup plus the gnocchi and I was done for the day almost. The waiters were kind and welcoming. For that price you definitely can't go wrong.

Yelp
Perfect find for our first night in Prague! Spanish style plates and portions with a continental European and Czech flavor! Excellent service too, and they really made an effort to accommodate our tastes despite the language difference. Excellent wine selection, with a lot of local Moravian wines that I've seldom seen in America. We had an exquisite local Riesling!

Yelp
This is my favourite restaurant in Prague. All the meals they have are great, but when we go there, we usually order different types of tapas and wine or beer. Servise has been always great and owner is often going around, talking to guests and helping with orders. You will definitely need a reservation for an evening and I fully recommend to try this place...
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Prague. The menu has many creative small plates for a great price. They also have a few bigger dishes and a burger, plus daily specials. It's run by a guy named Jara, one of the nicest and helpful people you'll meet. The menu changes every few months. Some regular favorites are the smoked salmon tartare and the warm nougat cake with cherries. Reservations are highly recommended -- hard to get a table there without one.

Yelp
So we went to this restaurant/bar on the recommendation of other yelpers! We arrived the first time too late for dinner, which was a bummer, but their beer selection was alright, and the prices were reasonable! We made reservations and came back the next day for lunch expecting tapas, only to find there was a tiiiny predetermined lunch menu. I was slightly disappointed at how drastically they narrowed down their selections, but it was a two course meal with delicious iced tea included! I got a yummy stuffed chicken breast, though it wasn't THAT stuffed. The creamy rice made up for that, and all in all it was a delicious and very affordable meal! Highly recommend, I just wish we could have stayed for tapas dinner!

Yelp
Confession: I haven't yet been her for what this place is known for (tapas) but if the lunch menu and service is any indication, I can understand why they recommend reservations for dinner. It's not hard to like this understated little spot. Enter through the hobbit sized door at 1/2 street level and find a cosy, yet unassuming bar area, which leads to a larger dining room around the corner. They have the best lunch special on the block - a two course lunch for the equivalent of $5 US with all you can drink ice tea. (the tea is pretty sweet, so I usually don't finish it) The daily menu is written in Czech on chalkboards, but if your Czech challenged, the servers will provide a tablet with the menu in English. Wi-fi is free and there's no smoke to deal with. The lunch service is unhurried - it's a great place to catch up on a novel or read the paper while you eat. After lunch, have a coffee while you get to the end of your chapter, or talk among yourselves. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I loved the prix-fixe lunch menu for only 120czk. The quality of food was excellent and the choices are relatively diverse.

Yelp
The best hot tapas in the town! Amazing octopus with avocado, eggplant with goat cheese. Burgers were super tasty, everything home made with friendly staff and decent wine. Definitely will come back again.

Yelp
Yumm. You can count on a great meal. Such tasty special. I had the steak medallions. The best in the 2 weeks in Prague. I just went here whenever we could. The service is excellent the food sublime. I enjoyed the wine. There is a choice of a big glass of wine or a regular size glass. Who has not ordered a glass of wine to find it all gone before the meal arrives? So enough said.

Yelp
This may have been my favorite meal in Prague. Service and atmosphere were lovely. I though the music was fine. We sat in the first room, near the bar. Three of us shared rocket salad, roasted prawns, gratinated eggplant, calamari, chorizo with apple, goat cheese with caramel and figs, raclette and bread. Everything was so good. We also had a bottle of wine and best of all shared the cinnamon mousse which was delicious. Tap water is provided in a pitcher with a smile. The total was under 1000 crowns which is very reasonable!
google avatar

Adela S.

Yelp
King prawns with white wine, chorizo, salad with sesame oil and fish with citrus :)) pick a selection of your own choices + get a bottle od Sedlak- Rulamdske sede!
google avatar

Ryan D.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've eaten here, but I tried a burger and a few appetizers and they were all pretty good. The atmosphere is that of a casual bar, but the "bar seating" actually has the chef cooking directly in front of you. I'd go back on occasion if I lived in the area.
google avatar

Derek D.

Yelp
This is certainly one of my go-to places when down by JZP. Good beer (Ježek 11°, which is not that common in Prague), really nice tapas that show creativity and care, a really good wine list, and some of the best service around. I have always had an excellent time here. I'm a little worried about seeing reviews mentioning a menu change - but I'll still give them another try.

Nima B.

Yelp
Visiting from the US and stopped here because it was right next to my airbnb. The food is sooo good. I came here 4 times in 5 days for both lunch and dinner. Dinner is great because there are many tapas to try. Lunch is very delicious as well. Service and price are great as well.

Yelp
awesome spot and great value. friendly service, delicious small plates, tasty cider and our dinner special of deer sausage was just outstanding (but not for the feint of heart!).

Yelp
While in Prague I was able to eat here twice and both times I was beyond impressed! The choices are amazing and the staff couldn't be friendlier. The second evening I arrived late, about the time the kitchen was closing, and a very nice man refused to let me leave and said that they would cook for me! As an American I hate to do that right as they are finishing up but he was beyond happy to welcome me. The food is also amazing. My favorite is the beef carpaccio! They do tapas but they also have main courses and some wonderful daily specials. Kofein is a must visit if you're in Prague!
